I have to say that the 2 DCs have been tough today. DD in bed just DS to go. DS has insisted on wearing his open toed sandals today which are slightly too big as they don't do them in half sizes and fell over several times going to the shops!! He also had a melt down because he left his stick in tescos and another one was not the same!! DD is not too bad but goes through a grumpy hour around 2ish where nothing you do will work.DH not back from work till 11pm today at least that means I don't have to watch the footie! I quite like football myself (being an Ipswich Town fan) but can't watch it every night!!

JKS - sorry to hear you have caught Henry's bug. Think its wise you called DH back as if you feel sick you could start puking anytime!! Sorry.

Dotsie · 19/06/2008 19:38

hi all!
only just finished catching up on this thread, and the last one too! i was only away for a week at half term!
so for those with ill lo's or having sleepless nights.
am amazed at how all the lo's are progressing!
we're still fully bf, and trundling down the blw route. great fun, and sooo much easier than purees. v v messy tho. just grateful we've got 2 dogs to lurk under the high chair and clear up the dropped bits! not giving him meals as such, just a v small amount of what we're having on his high chair tray, and let him play with it. if he eats some, he eats it, if not, well never mind. He's tried
banana, potato, broccoli, cauliflower, lentil bolognese, pasta bake, all sorts. dried apple rings are v popular (ds1 likes them too..need to get some more!!
Patrick's a very happy baby, gurgles and chats away, bless him. he's been sitting up properly for over a month now, and his hand/eye co-ordination is coming along really well. don't think it'll be that long before he's trying to crawl!
anyway, must go and get ds2 in the bath (he's covered in banana and basmati rice tonight!), check up on dd (home from school having been sick - wonderful, NOT) and check ds1 really hasn't got homework..he says he hasn't but not sure i believe him..
hope everyone's well, and those & lo's who aren't feel better soon.
take care all

simpson · 19/06/2008 23:03

Angechica - can't believe you are a tractor girl too!!

AngeChica · 20/06/2008 08:39

Aye, DH is unfortunately a Crystal Palace fan though which means I have to endure Palace babygros and bibs for DS. I did point out this means he gets to dribble and spew all over the Palace badge.

(DH once met a fellow fan who had called their baby Crystal Alice .)

Some people mentioned earlier that their babies were getting upset if they left them alone on their mats, in chairs etc... DS is getting really bad for this, if I go out of sight for a moment he gets so upset ... I thought this separation anxiety didn't start till they were about 8 or 9 months? Not sure if anything I can do about this either?

simpson · 20/06/2008 09:34

Angechica - my DH is a man U fan he is NOT happy at the mo re ronaldo situation.

The Town V Palace game next season is on sky I think....

My DD terrible for being left on her own. I am in shock with it as I never had it at all with DS. The highchair is still a novelty for her (only had it out 2 days) so she is not too bad in that. Likes being same height as everyone else I think.

Gingeme - good luck at the doctors today.

lilyloo · 20/06/2008 10:14

morning mm hope that helped!

Ladies need to get dd a highchair any good ones around ?

She isn't sitting up yet so it will need to suppor her although her back is very strong.

Also we only had one wake up at 2.45 woohoo

Hello ladies,

Took DC to the HV today... am a bad mummy and have hardly taken DS2 took DS1 religiously every two weeks for ages. She was very pleased with DS1 talking as last time I went I had concerns that he wasnt talkign and only signing. He is now only putting together 2-3 words but knows the meaning of everything he says now, but he doesnt realise that he has to use his english words with some people and tends to use his turkish ones with everytone altho he has a nice number of english words too.

DS2 is now 17 lbs so when i pick him up i think to myself that i have lost his weight and feels quite strange when you look at it like that. He has had a massive rash type thing on his cheeks, well not quite a rash but just very irritated skin, as soon as i sat down the HV said he is teething before i even asked about it.

She also said that it might be too soon to potty train DS2 - she is the only person who has said this as he is going to be 2.5 when we start on holiday.

Helloooo to everyone... talking of footie, I am not a club supporter but an avid turkey supporter

mixedmama · 20/06/2008 13:17

meant to say we are of course playing tonight in the quarter finals of euro 2008 - woo hoo

simpson · 20/06/2008 13:39

Mixed mama - I tried to potty train DS a few weeks ago at half term, he was 2.7 then and it was not a success. He had no concept of needing to go so lots of accidents. Will try again with him when playgroup breaks up for the summer.

Also got DD weighed today have not been for AGES. She now weighs 13lbs 7 so is really starting to put the weight on now which is good. HV could not believe the difference in her. When I took her last time she was miserable & crying all the time and now she is all smiles. Definately think its due to changing her milk.

mixedmama · 20/06/2008 14:05

mmm... it think i am not going to put too much pressure on. He does sometimes take his nappy off and sit on the potty or toilet and you can feel him staringin cos he knows what he needs to do but doesnt need to go then and once or twice has told me when he has done a poo but this is after the incident.

Since we will be on hols and stuff and have lots of open sapce and have tiles as opposed to carpet will still take my potty and try but if he does it then great if not then will just try another time.

simpson · 20/06/2008 17:53

Mixed mama - just want to wish turkey good luck tonight!!

mixedmama · 20/06/2008 18:03

ahhh thank you kindly

susiemj · 20/06/2008 20:02

just popping in. i love our new high chair. it's this one

Sabela will only suck at night! Nothing else. Just suck suck suck. She used to be such a good sleeper . I guess it's because she's been ill. i'm knackered.

susiemj · 20/06/2008 20:03

sorry

justkeepswimming · 20/06/2008 20:12

hi all, well i wasn't sick, just had the 'd' of the d&v
had a rough night's sleep, but feel ok today. took calpol in the end as i couldn't think of what else i could take.
hopefully we are all over it now.

good luck to turkey

um, got too far behind but hello everyone

hopefully going to see fire engines tomorrow
ds1 not napping atm, grr.
ds2 slept 8-6 last night, hooray, that's 2 nights in a row, fingers crossed for tonight...

oh and to add to the poor sleep, cat brought in a live mouse last night, was chased out a few times, then dh had fallen asleep, cat jumped on bed, i HAD to check so turned light on, and live mouse on bed , leapt out of bed, stood there going 'f**k a mouse on my bed!' so dh woke up, i hid in the bathroom and he caught it and took it outside! twas only a little thing but really i was freaked!

good sleep vibes to all tonight...

simpson · 20/06/2008 20:38

Jks - glad you feel better. I would freak about mouse on my bed too. Hate them.

Grrrr DS went to bed at 6.30 with no In the night garden or story as he had total melt down was very tired. He is STILL awake. Just heard him crying saying "toe hurts want some medicine" Gave him calpol at 6.30 as thought maybe he wasn't well so unlike him to cry before bed so had to give him omega 3 liquid and tell it was medicine otherwise I would still be up there with him now!!Lets hope it does the trick. DD on the other hand has been asleep since 7.

lilyloo · 20/06/2008 20:49

omg JKS i would have died !

Well dd had really good feed tonight so has been sound asleep since 7 and no restlesness. I seem to be able to know now on what feed she has before bed how our night will pan out.

I think i have a blocked milk duct though lumpy breast and it's tender. Typical as i was supposed to be going to girls night at friends tom but need to feed feed feed when i get this. I haven't had it for few months now so don't know why it's back. Think it may be due to dd not sleeping too well and feeding lot's then settling down again and i have over supply of milk!

MM hope you do well dp watching it but haven't really watched !

Simpson hope ds asleep now !

Wow all quiet here today Gingeme you must be doing a marathon makeover

Sky Sports in this house would be a disaster Simpson. Hubby is a PE teacher and spends half his time looking at the sport on teletext, even reading stuff about silly obscure sports that no one cares about . We'll prob try and go to the pub and watch it! If they show it up here in the land of the Toon Army!

Glad you're feeling better KT.

Question for those bottle feeding, how much do you give them a day once you have weaned them? This week I have given DS one cereal and one fruit / veg meal each day. He is loving his food!

He has at least 35 oz milk a day. I have tried to "borrow" some from his daytime feeds for the dream feed as it is working so well. Still seems a lot though.

Has anyone managed to drop to four bottle feeds a day yet?

DS weighed 20lb exactly on Weds and has gone up to the 98th centile in the last 2 weeks since I've virtually stopped BF. When I was BF he stayed on the 91st centile. Everyone keeps saying don't worry he will slow down once mobile etc but I do worry!

Susie I got a wooden high chair from John Lewis from my competition winnings earlier this year. It is nice but I think they have a tendency to get very grubby. The one you've chosen looks far more practical!

Fragolina · 20/06/2008 21:06

Hi ladies! Thanks for all the helpful ideas re: getting Tana to accept the bottle - will let you know how it goes.
JKS - aaargh! sympathies on mouse situ!
Lilyloo - glad sleep improving

Went to mom and baby showing at cinema today and had a great time. Definitely recommend it. Still crap sleep though - last night was especially bad, up at 1:20, 2:30, 4:00, 5:00, 6:00 and then 8:30. Then was out all day from half 9 until 7:00pm.

Good luck with the potty training MM!and well done on the weight loss.

simpson · 20/06/2008 21:11

Angechica - DD has around 30/35 ozs a day. She is not on any solids yet though. She has 6 feeds of 5 ozs and a tiny 3 oz feed just before bum hits mattress to top her up before bed. She will not finish all the bottles though she has got much better in the last week or so. However if she does drain a bottle i do put another couple of ozs in it. I don't think they can over feed and solids are not their main nutrition at this age.

simpson · 20/06/2008 21:12

Fragolina - x post. Hope sleep better tonight.

lilyloo · 20/06/2008 21:18

Frag poor you you have my upmost sympathy i am tentatively taking each good night as a one off at the mo, hope tonights better for you.

Ange i really wouldn't worry i think they are still a bit small to betrying to drop to 4 feeds yet, i would let him lead things.

This is my highchair thread interesting what do you think ?
