How are you supposed to be patient with something like that?

JamInMyWellies · 21/05/2008 10:49

morning all, please can you give me advice on how to shut the feckin cockerels up. DP is threatening to buy an air rifle and go hunting

LG&T how are you feeling today?

TYG, missed the end of the last thread are they going to pay out??

Has everyone gone all out for the LO's b-day we are having the family round - yeuch they have never all been in the same place together its going to be a disaster, my family are all really exuberant and when the clan is together we are quiet a force and DP's family are all a little weird, a mad aunty, leering FIL, mousey MIL and bolshy SIL. I cant even get drunk and try to ignore the car crash that is bound to happen. will need many good luck vibes. Anyway back to my original would it be mean to get a few ballons and try keep it fairly low keyor should we be going all out, money is super tight and we thought a bar-b-que and cake would be good enough what do you reckon?

Pinkjenny · 21/05/2008 11:32

Morning all

Twas me with the New Kids issues. I will DEFNITELY be throwing myself on the stage.

Have been to a seminar on Equal Pay this am, and I could literally feel the life draining out of me. Back to my desk and MN.

LW - congrats on shoes!!

SOH - I lurrrve pink. Not necessarily on me, but L looks sooo cute in it. Irritating enough for you? Ha ha. Yes, I do try to make an effort most of the time. We have our morning routine down to a tee, and L is dispensed at nursery/my mums at 8am. She plays with my make up whilst I put it on. On myself, not her. Obviously.

Elkie - congrats. Am so

Pinkjenny · 21/05/2008 11:39

Julie - we did the family and close friends party thing on Saturday. Was fab, really enjoyed it! I managed to have all my friends and the dcs in one room, parents and MIL in another, and men in another room watching football.

We had lots of balloons and a pink cake in the shape of a castle and just sandwiches and salads and stuff. It was great, and nowhere near as stressful as I thought it would be, and it rained as well!

My (childless - 'it's a very luxurious lifestyle choice') boss was looking at the pictures yesterday and said, 'Oh this is such a shame, this is all because of the pressure others put on you. What are you going to do when she's two?' What a strange reaction.

Anyway, my point is that you should just do whatever you think you'll all enjoy.

ShowOfHands · 21/05/2008 12:39

We just had family over and told people to bring a plate. I baked a few things including a cake (pics are on fb) and we sat in the sun drinking tea and eating jam tarts and stuff. Money is super-tight here too. She was bought enough presents from relatives to start a toy shop.

I love cockerels and their doodledoos. It means it's time to get up.

ShowOfHands · 21/05/2008 12:45

Sorry meant to type more but by the stench wafting across the room, I'm guessing that The Tank has started atomic warfare in the nappy region.

Meant to say yah boo sucks to lack of hcg results, woohoo to the loss adjustor visit and good news and at elkie. You're all mad btw. I am never having more babies.

I also meant to say lots of funny things and tell hilarious tales but I think dd's nappy is gassing the sheep two fields down.

elkiedee · 21/05/2008 13:00

Parties: I invited a few friends with babies/older kids/no kids at all and told people to bring something along. We did it in the park - the one with a big very baby friendly cafe open on Sunday and playground and great transport links rather than the nearest one in case of weather/to give people choices about what to do. It worked quite well.

Shoes - am worrying about those - yet to find nearest branch of Clarks.

largeginandtonic · 21/05/2008 13:08

Find a Startrite they are much better, even better an independant who stock all sorts. Bbaies feet are so tricky to fit.

Have just been having abroken convo with April over the mobile. SOH she may come on Saturday and see us! When are you getting here chick? I am taking the kids to the meet point half way between here and Plymouth on Friday now. Will come home after the appeal and pack up and go. DH will be here though, cleaning i hope

Good morning all! I've decided that my house has been taken over by insane men. They are all crazy.

ShowOfHands · 21/05/2008 13:38

We have startrite seconds place (wrong colour stitching or faded leaather etc, no major probs, can't tell mostly) and shoes cost £8 or £10. Bargain. Slippers and wellies are £5 and under.

DH working Fri so will leave when he gets home, 4ish usually on a Fri so will be there for 9/10pm ish. Sorry so late, go to bed, I know where your spare key is.

1 handed typing. DD going through growth spurt and is bm mad.

largeginandtonic · 21/05/2008 13:42

I cannot believe you are still feding that 29lb, banana eating child How do you pick her up, she is bigger than you, no? This i have to see. Dont worry everyone i will take photos

Not late, gives dh time to clean. You will be on the futon in the front room. Will M go to sleep in there if we are still up? The futon is down the far end. All the rooms have moved round again!

Ooooh so excited.

MKG why crazy? I mean boys are but any particular reason?

I want to buy shoes. I want to buy shoes. I love shoes. Come on A, just a few steps for mummy. She stands unsupported now, but just hasn't quite been brave enough to take a step.

She stayed up for about an hour last night after her bath. You could tell she knew she should be in bed, she just sat quietly playing in the corner (which NEVER happens) and looking at me out of the corner of her eye.

And STOP talking about the weekend. You are making me so and .

MKG · 21/05/2008 13:57

They have lost the plot. Last night (after I spent all day in the kitchen) Dh was downloading music while Mateo is running around like a loon while cruz is doing his someone pick me up dance. Dh is having trouble so I try to help him, but he doesn't want help because he wants to know how to do it himself. By this time Mateo is doing acrobatics on the bed and Cruz is beside himself for a bottle. Does dh do anything, no because he's so engrossed in making a cd. Then Mateo finds dh's anniversary present that I hid under the bed and opened it (thankfully now that puts the pressure on dh to get me something and not forget) Finally once everyone is settled I go downstairs (instead of going to bed) and dh gives me a hard time saying I should go to bed early. I say that I need to unwind by myself because the three of them make me nuts.
To which dh laughs and says, "Good job boys I think we broke her"

Creena · 21/05/2008 15:01

Howdy ladies!

Work has been super hectic of late, so apologies for not popping in and even bigger apologies for not reading the last thread through and catching up properly and the subsequent lack of personal messages. I really hope that you're all fine and dandy though.

I think I've missed s few birthdays too, so very many belated birthday wishes to;

Kimi (DizzyBrummie), George (Mum2G) and Jorga (Mrs JB) on the 16th

Alexa (PinkJenny) on the 17th

I'll make sure that I pop in over the next few days too as we have some more birthdays coming up.

cameroonmama · 21/05/2008 20:11

Its taken me the whole day to find you all...and the title is quite apt, coz I, by coincedence, am just looking at the Brantano website

What do I do? MIL is coming to visit in December I have asked her to buy sandals for J just now before they all run out (which I they do every bloody year, just before June) but how do i know what size he will be in December????? He is in an old pair of ds1's size 5 doodles and they seem ok. I have said a 7 what do you reckon?

Elkie that's brilliant news, congratulations.

AprilMeadow · 21/05/2008 21:01

Cam, you can buy doodles all year round...... i asked in clarks the other day

AprilMeadow · 21/05/2008 21:13

LG&T, sorry about earlier, blinkin' signal! If its ok to pop down on Sat that would be great.

Pink, please could you email me your address so that i can post Lexie her Minnie Dress.

Elkie, congratulations on your bfp

Jam, wow that was a good catch up post! Do you have a date yet for your scan?

TYG, pleased that you have had your meeting and also that it went well for you. Hope S has had a lovely birthday and that dh redeemed himself.

SOH, M is super intelligent! Ella just grunts and points if she wants something - you will have her dressing herself and changing her own nappies in no time

largeginandtonic · 22/05/2008 07:36

Cam you daft nut, WE will send him out lovely sandals all year round. I have a Clarks outlet in Gun Wharf that sell doodles all year and odd sandals that are end of line in the Winter. He will be fine

April yaya on the notice, it is too much. Tea and cakes with me is far more important. I am growing a child you know! Sat would be lovely to see you

OP posts:
AprilMeadow · 22/05/2008 09:10

Cam you definately need not worry about being supplied with shoes or clothes that your cant get where you are - just holler and we (well one of us or you could end up with loads) will send it to you

LG&T, how are you feeling today? i hope that the grim sickness is less for you. It will be great to just pop down and have tea and cakes at any time (with or without kids, they will be doing the same nusery hours as now). Cant wait to see you and SOH.

Hey Creena, i have found a great box to package the p&t in so will be spending tomorrow and Sunday making it all look beautiful

Hi all

Sorry from me too for the birthdays we missed.

We are up in Liverpool Saturday and Sunday PJ if you are free for a quick meet? DP always likes to think we can fit in visiting loads of people and I just want to relax and look around!

We have had an interesting week! On Monday had 28 week midwife appointment and was measuring 33 weeks - lovely midwife said sorry but I had to go and see a consultant at the next available appointment (current regulations) - had an appointment Tuesday - DP took the day off and it was a waste of time - we saw a midwife and consultant who both said we now need a scan but that hospital didn't have any slots this week so DP has also took yesterday off and we had another appointment at a different hospital.
Had a scan and baby larger than average but still on scale on 97th centile so no further action! A wasted two days.

We told sonographer we didn't want to know what it was and I am not sure if it was a slip of the tongue but about 5 mins into the scan she said "I am just going to measure her head" then revereted to calling it "baby". Possibly a girl LG&T, just like predicted.

Congrats on giving up work AM, I really wish I could!

largeginandtonic · 22/05/2008 09:43

Told ya, i'm rarely wrong Glad it is all ok though, blimmin babies worry us!

Ijust phoned the GP and my results are back but no one has looked at them yet so she cant tell me! GAH!
