Amani · 25/06/2008 10:06

Morning all,

another good night sleep - feels so wierd to be waking up feeling refreshed, even got the whole house cleaned by 9am .

Yikes Claraq - didn't realise your move to Pakistan was immenent, which city/region will you be staying in...?

BouncingTurtle · 25/06/2008 11:01

That's fantastic Amani!

Claraq - compound sounds fab - so how long is it now before the big move? Can't be too much longer?

Beanstermummy · 25/06/2008 11:45

Long lost greetings guys - so sorry I've been off the planet for a while (well ages really). Back at work now though so thought I really needed to say hello and find out what everyone is up to.

Quick update on Chez Beanster then: As I said back at work - project came up which is a real challenge but exaclty what I needed to get stuck into. Still on AD's but not much and hopefully be off them soon. Freya is now nearly 7 months and sitting, babbling away and got her first tooth last Sunday Can't believe how grown up she is all ready. And how stubborn - best one is when she's had enough food - she sort of screws her face up and grunt and shakes her head - all very new to us as DD1 never had enough!!

Feeding wise, up until 3 or 4 weeks ago I was still feeding 7pm, 11 pm, 4am and a bit for breakfast - but over the course of a week she decided she didn't need the 4am (thank God!!) - although to get her to do this meant a bottle at 11pm. It meant I was only really doing a full feed at 7pm and things jsut slowed down - literally over a couple of days. She's now fully bottle fed but also since last week doesn't have her 11pm - finally after 6 months she sleeps 7pm until after 6am - bliss!!

DD1 is still a complete crazy nutter but at 3 going on 30 is still great fun.

A friend is due of Friday and I can't wait to hold a teeny one again - not that I'm thinking fo going there - just trying to remortgage the house and what with increase in nursery fees unless we win the lottery there'll be nae chance of that.

I'm on a mission now to try and catch up with all your news in the next day or two so please bear with me and also let me know how things are going.

Hi Caz10 and Loucee -when are we next meeting up? Sunny (well rainy today) Glasgow awaits us - and I want to see your little beasties again - they must have changed loads

Take care everyone and good to be back xx

fifisworld · 25/06/2008 12:46

Lizzer - Me too!!!!
Although we've...well dp has decided definatly no more babies

claireybee · 25/06/2008 13:19

Lizzer you can send me your Posada then . If you don't like them too dry then the summer reds would be a good option-they are mostly lighter and fruitier (it is bad that I now want a glass isn't it?!)-think they are on sale now too.

I decided to take a leaf out of your book and so told dh we needed to make more of an effort with each other, spend time together, touch each other more, talk to each other etc. Anyway last night he was trying to talk to me but I had a really bad headache after no sleep the night before so was unable to concentrate on what he was saying. Then I went up to bed and he came up a while later and was asking me about something (no idea what) and in my half asleep state I said "Why are you talking to me? I'm sleeping, leave me alone" . Serves me right if he doesn't make an effort again!

Welcome back Beanster and congrats on the sleep!

Also Amani, glad your nights are better again now

claraquitetirednow · 25/06/2008 13:28

Hi Beanster, welcome back, good to hear your news.

Amani and BT - yup, move is imminent indeed - 3 and a half weeks....which is why I am starting to panic a bit about how much there is still to do!

Louise76 · 25/06/2008 14:57

Hi all

Not been on for ages so have lots of msgs to read!

Skid - glad you raised the sex issue! Neither I nor DH wanted to dtd whilst I was bf so we didn't until I had stopped! I'm so glad he didn't put pressure on me as I had absolutely no inclination. Men need to understand the physical and mental trauma that giving birth entails and realise that their 'needs' take a back seat for a few weeks or months! Got my period today - I was beginning to think it would never happen as it's 6 weeks now since I stopped bf.

Re clothes - dd has been in 6-9 mths clothes for about a month. She is quite long and grew out of her 3-6 vests ages ago. I don't know where she gets it from as I am only 5ft!

Good luck with stopping bf kelbel. I was really worried about it but it was actually fine once I started cutting out feeds. Well done on getting your lo to take a cup as it has taken me a lot of persuasion to get dd to drink water from a cup. I phoned the hv on mon as I was concerned that she was dehydrated (horrible firm poos!) thankfully it is back to normal in that dept now and she drank half a cup of water yesterday.

Not making much progress with the foods. I tried her with pureed lentils yesterday but she wasn't too keen. My trick is to try again mixed with a bit of baby rice - this has worked with everything else!

I went shopping last night and bought loads of fruit and veg to puree so I'll be busy tonight! Luckily she is still sleeping well - 6.30-6 last night . I was delighted as she had been getting up at 5 for a while which I was finding difficult.

skidaddle · 25/06/2008 15:26

Hello,

Well DH promised not to ever leave DS in the car again. I think he feels really bad although he didn't say nor did he apologise.

clairey at your poor DH trying to make an effort and you telling him to go away. You will have to be on your best behaviour tonight to make up! A couple of glasses from your vast wine collection might help things along!

lizzer/fifi - i have also been having daydreams of what if I got pg by mistake, how would that be? We actually had a bit of a scare when a condom didn't work properly and DH was horrified but I must admit I was already conjuring thoughts of holding a teeny tiny new baby in my arms

Hi beanster - good to see you back

louise - that's very encouraging that you got back into the saddle as it were when you stopped BF. Hope it will be the same for me although I have been much better lately

claraq - wow the compound sounds very swanky with three swimming pools and a playground! Will everyone there be British or all different nationalities? Will there be Pakistanis living there too? I always find those compounds where you're completely cut off from the country you're in a bit freaky but I suppose you will have plenty of opportunities to do stuff outside as well. 3 weeks to go... I hope you will still be coming on MN as much as usual!

Yes we have looked at house prices in Oxford and we can't afford to buy anything so will have to rent although we can't really afford that either! My dream job has turned into a bit of a nightmare in terms of worrying about money and childcare but I am trying to focus on how great the job will be.

Excellent news re stopping BF kelbel - must be such a relief

Glad you had a good night's sleep amani - makes such a difference doesn't it?

BouncingTurtle · 25/06/2008 16:53

DS is no longer getting his arm stuck when he rolls onto his tummy, but is still getting upset because he can't roll back!

fifisworld · 25/06/2008 17:30

Skid It would be just a dream for me, either that or immaculate conception

BT Ethan still cant manage to get is arm from under him when he rolls

I'm really looking forward to saturday. Im going into town with the girls, dp is out with is mate so my mam is having the ds's overnight. Ds1 has stayed out a few times before but it will be Ethans first time..not sure how i feel about it
But..im making a big effort..got a new dress/shoes etc, doing my tan and going for my hair put up

Wizzska · 25/06/2008 19:43

Skid - I'm sure things will work out with the move.

Fifi, enjoy your day out on Sat, sounds great.

Clairey, I feel the same way about spending time with DH. Yesterday was my birthday and he didn't fall asleep in front of the telly. We had some bubbly and a big slice of birthday cake and dtd, a really rare treat these days! It's nice to feel close again.

BouncingTurtle · 25/06/2008 19:50

My window cleaner has just been around, he tells me it's his youngest's birthday today. And his wife is pregnant again... with number 6

fifisworld · 25/06/2008 19:53

Ethans just rolled!!!!!

loucee · 25/06/2008 22:01

Hi everyone

Great reading all the posts, sorry I'm such an infrequent poster now.

Beanster/Caz, let me know if you are free on a Wednesday soon - its the best day for me to get into Glasgow

I feel like I'm doing the weaning thing all wrong, DS doesn't eat much at all and still isn't good and getting the food to the back of his mouth, however I keep telling myself that milk is the most important thing for him at the moment so I'll continue to offer the food (3 times a day) and hope he catches on soon!

Sorry this is rushed, need to go and puree and clean up!

Louise76 · 26/06/2008 07:11

Hi loucee

I feel exactly the same about weaning dd - she's not that interested and i'm scared to give her lumpy food or finger food in case she chokes! She doesn't seem to have mastered eating yet.

Any tips for safe first finger foods???

BouncingTurtle · 26/06/2008 08:16

Loucee - I feel the same, though been moving more and more to BLW, but at the moment I think ds it treating it more as a game. It'll take a few weeks for them to really get the idea

Fifisworld - woohoo!!! Well done Ethan!

Lizzer · 26/06/2008 09:56

'morning

Clairey Hee hee, I just ignore dp if he starts talking to me while I'm in sleep limbo so I don't blame you for your reaction...and tbh after our one morning in touchy feely heaven there has been no more loving

Fifi, yeah I really don't want to be a pg bride, I'm fat enough as it is and want to be a champagne quaffer all day! Yay ethan for his rolling skills!

BT, reminds me of the lady who was next to me in the scan waiting room, her friend let slip it was her 10th baby

Wiz, happy birthday for a couple of days ago!

I've up dated my profile pics if anyone's interested...

Caz10 · 26/06/2008 13:40

lizzer - awwwwwww so cute!

dd is trying to type so this will be brief!!

BIG hi to beanstermummy - so glad you posted as my email to you got returned and then i forgot!

will email poss dates when miss wriggly is not here!!

just wanted to say hi to all - we are floundering with food too and as soon as i can get this munchkin to sleep i will be back with many many questions!

Beanstermummy · 26/06/2008 13:42

Arse - just wrote a big long message and the internet crashed !!

Start again then.

BT/Lizzer - reminds me when I was in for a check with DD1 - woman in the bed next to me was having a blood transfusion as she was anemic and split her time between complaining to the staff that they wouldn't let her stop every half an hour for a fag and complaining to her eldest 2 that they weren't looking after the other 6 properly!!! Very scary indeed,

Fiffi - Yeah - very clever boy you have there. DD2 just doesn't seem interested at all - happy either side but not going between the 2. She's really strong with her sitting up so maybe just not bothered. Been wondering about her crawling though - we've got wooden floors and can't help but think it'll be hard for her to learn as she'll slip around? DD1 started at just after 7 months but on carpet??????? any thoughts or ideas?

As for weight loss - I finally managed to drag my fat arse to slimming world and so far so good - have managed to lose 13 1/2 lbs in 7 weeks and now back at pre DD2 weight - only the 3 or 4 stone of pre and post DD1 left to go now then!!!!

Work is very dull today - even though I've only been back a week and have tonnes to do - ah well - might have to go early and pop to baby shops on the weway home - friend is due tomorrow with a little girl and she's been contracting on and off all day today - and texting me in between obviously! Will be very good but strange to hold a newborn again - not doubt will get very broody

Caz10 · 26/06/2008 13:45

x-d posts BM! are you in work 5 days?

Beanstermummy · 26/06/2008 13:45

Lizzer - just checked out your piccies - you have such cute children - how pretty is your DD and how much of a trouble maker does your DS look!! really need to get sorted to post some up

Beanstermummy · 26/06/2008 13:59

Caz10 - yes I'm afraid -I have childcare for Freya with frinds Mondays and Fridays for the next month and she's in nursery Tues to Thur. Actually seems really happy - and as she's pretty stimulated a lot of the time is sleeping really well in the nights

Very strange though to be back - but in a good way. How about you - are you back at work until the holdays?

Loucee jsut texted to say meet up next Wed? I'll sort out to be in the city office rather than Paisley or Motherwell - biut can't do lots of food - slimming world weigh in on Wed nights

Caz10 · 26/06/2008 14:07

No I chickened out!

Going back in August FT also

Next wed sounds good to me!! Can you just take a long lunch or something? (see I always have to be back in when the bell rings!! )

Beanstermummy · 26/06/2008 14:36

Sort of my own boss up here - report to London and Birmingham so don't really have anyone chasing me time wise - very much a deliverable focused role - god that sounds poncey doesn't it !!!!

Don't think I could cope with a structured job wioth set times etc - especially when preggers - often wondered how you guys did it when I would slpoe into work late or leave early - mind you often carry work on at home and the pile just mounts up if I have an easy day so long term it doesn't make much odds.

Half twelve usual place is being suggested - does that suit you? I'll be very jealous as I won't have piggley

Caz10 · 26/06/2008 16:26

Excellent! Yes it's funny being governed by bells again..your job sounds good! You must have to be quite disciplined?

See you both soon then!
