hiya

james - sorry i don't know anything about the childcare vouchers. you could ask the childminder how she wants paid. many of them do different methods e.g. my current one we pay at the start of the week, i know of others that take the money at the end of the week and our old childminders averaged the cost over 12 months which we paid at the end of the month. have you checked her ofsted report? i'm assuming that you can get them online like we can from the care commission up here!

tasha - your poor ds1, does he realise what's going on and get upset by it?

knickers - clapping my hands for your dd

dd2 gave herself a real sore one yesterday. she was standing holding onto a kitchen chair, when she dropped down. unfortunately her chin hit the chair, she somehow managed to bite her tongue and has scraped all her chin. i never knew a tongue had so much blood! then she did the same thing twice more and opened the wounds on her tongue. it's all red an swollen at one side today

gill - hope you had a good time away and got some rest? how's ds's cough now?

tasha22 · 08/06/2008 20:19

knickers well done on the standing thats great!

my2weegirls- aww your poor we dd2. there is a lot of bood comes from the tounge isnt there. no he doesnt know whats going on but he calls his 'dad' dad when hes away and calls him 'name' when hes here. dont know why because ive never made him feel awkward or anything about it and since me and dp got together when he was a baby he calls dp dad too.

brought the boys up to my cousins 1st birthday today. there was kids everywhere lol but a good day. the kids conked out dead on 7pm, filled with buns, sweets and loads more junk lol. cant get ds1 into pre-school anywhere near me as they are all filled up and i need to find a cresh for ds2+3 for september too as im going back to collage 2 days a week. cant wait! so im going hunting tomorrow for that.

Hope everyone is well? and did i hear mention of a meat up?? well hopefully be going to Sheffield University in 2 years, anyone near there?

off to do some work before dp gets home

My2Weegirls · 08/06/2008 20:37

tasha - for some reason my dd1 calls me by my rl name a lot of the time and not mum. mil gets really upset by it 'that's your mummy, you call her that and not my2weegirls' .

that's a shame about pre-school being filled up...is he on a waiting list in case anyone moves? maybe the college will have a creche?

tasha22 · 08/06/2008 21:09

yeah its prob that cause he calls me tasha sometimes too and i dont think anything of it. the collage doesnt have a creche silly i know because it would be good for anyone doing child care. i havent even got around to putting his name on a list yet ive a list of things to do tomorrow starting with mums and toddlers right im off to do some work didnt get doing any cause ds1 woke up complaining of a sore knee then ds3 took fits of coughing. night everyone.

helibee - i didnt read back far enough to see where the suggested meet up was - but depending on dates, we would be up for it.

my2weegirls - ds has done similar things and it is a little scary just how much blood they produce. at least they seem to heal quicker than adults though.

james- i havent been claiming tax credits and just realised i probably should so phoned up for a form - think its all tied in with childcare cause they asked whether ds goes to approved childcare or not when sending the forms. Sounded like some of the money could be backdated (although thats just the tax credits as ds doesnt go to childcare) but might be the same with childcare so you might have to pay first, then have the payments backdated but they were reasonable helpful (when i eventually got through) on the phone 0845 300 3900.

GillL · 09/06/2008 15:54

Hello. I'm back from my weekend at my sister's. It was nice to spend time with her but it was very stressful. Before I went up there I told her that she needed to get everything off the floor and anything higher that ds might be able to reach but she didn't. I spent 2 days taking things off him and saying no. Needless to say he didn't have a very good time and I couldn't take my eyes off him. Both dc's were really tired and therefore whingy and bil just made me feel like we were being a nuisane. Neither of them like any kind of noise. They're planning a family and I really don't know how they're going to put up with a screaming baby of their own. I can relax now I'm in my (95%) baby proof living room.

Lizzie, My2 - it was anything but restful. I am so glad to be home!

Thanks Lizzie, tasha. They do seem constantly ill at the moment. Dd is back to normal and ds just has a bit of a cough but is fine. Never thought about hayfever. He has sneezed a lot recently but no itchy eyes.

That's strange about your ex tasha. Glad you had a nice bbq. Hope you manage to find a creche and pre-school soon tasha. Dd was registered with hers when she was 4 months old. I also filled in an 'early interest' form for the school I want her to go to when she was 2 1/2. We live 10 miles away but it's right round the corner from mum's house.

littleboyblue · 09/06/2008 15:58

Hi there. i don't remember if I've already posted on this thread and can't read thru to check so apologies if I'm repeating myself!
Any of you still waiting for lo to crawl? Mine stretches, rocks, bum shuffles or bounces to get to other side of room. He doesn't pull himself up on furniture or anything either. Is he normal?

GillL · 09/06/2008 17:34

Hi LBB, I think you have posted here before. Welcome back. He's completely normal. My mum said I never crawled.

littleboyblue · 09/06/2008 19:52

Hey GillL, I thought I might have done. I know in the back of my mind that it's ok not to be on the move at 10m, but it good to hear it from those who's lo's are same age, you know?

Scary thought! DS will be 1 in 8 weeks. Hasn't it gone so quick?

Meandmyjoe · 09/06/2008 21:16

Hi tasha, great to hear from you. How are you? Good news that ds3 is now chubbing out a bit! Hope his chest is better soon. Oh and by the way, I live not far from Sheffield and my dh goes to sheffield uni part time through work! I wanted to go to Sheffield uni but ended up going to Lincoln.

Anyway, how is everyone?

Littleboyblue, my ds has only last week started to crawl forward. For months, he was rocking and going backwards, which seemed to make him even more grumpy and frustrated! However, now he can crawl, he seems to only want to crawl towards things that I don't want him to tough (such as the oven) so when I pick him up and take him away from tose things, he is still grumpy and squeals at me! He sounds perfectly normal, don't panic! My friends ds still isn't crawling at 11 months but he's absolutely fine. You are so right though, it does seem to have gone quick! In some ways it feels like we've always had Joseph but in other ways, it seems like only a few weeks ago since I was in labour and we were bringing him home for the first time. I can't believe he'll be one in 2 months time. He still seems like such a baby if you know what I mean?? I thought by 10 months I'd start to think of him as a toddler but he just looks and acts like a baby! I mean, I know he can crawl and babble and do everything that I thought he'd be doing but he is still such a baby to be a year old! I can't explain it! It's scary how quick it's going though.

Anyway, hope you are all well. Joe has been an angel at night again so hoping the last month was just a hiccup. We took Joe strawberry picking today, he love watching us scurrying around on the floor for a change! x

Meandmyjoe · 09/06/2008 21:17

Ooooops, pressed it twice!

littleboyblue · 09/06/2008 21:25

Thanx Meandmyjoe, know what you mean by the frustration. Ds has constantly got a grump on coz he can't do anything. He gets on his front, and when he brings his bum up his face hits the floor, it is so funny watching him trying to figure out how to get both ends up at same time.
He bum bounces or rocks away when sitting tro get places, all the ones you don't want him near, like dvd player and wires, the dogs bum, the fire guard.
It also seems to us like ds has always been here, but at same time only yesterday that I wasn't sure whether it was time to go hospital or not.

lizziemun · 09/06/2008 21:40

I misread this 'Hi tasha, great to hear from you. How are you? Good news that ds3 is now chubbing out a bit!'

as 'Hi tasha, great to hear from you. How are you? Good news that ds3 is now clubbing out a bit!' i realy must get some sleep.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 09/06/2008 22:08

Hi all, sorry I'm too tired to read what I've missed but hope everyone is doing ok and had a good weekend. I got thoroughly sunburnt whilst traipsing round the carboot on sunday. J was slathered in 50+ obviously, he's fine. Dp burnt just his nose, I managed both arms, shoulders, upper back, chest... fun!

Spent all day today, and til 2am last night working on two pieces of work I was sent that should have taken two hours but took ten, although I still get paid for just two. I was NOT a happy bunny having to keep my boy in all day during gorgeous june sunshine while I work ALL day for (literally) the price of a can of aptamil. I was nearly in tears by the end, it's really frustrating as I can't afford to turn my nose up at any work right now, but I'm feeling like they're taking the piss a bit (perhaps unintentionally, maybe they didn't realise how long the assignments would take, I dunno)

J ate almost a full punnet of blueberries last night, blue poos today! he really loved them, I think he'd happily just eat fruit and cheese for every meal- it's so weird as those were my main cravings in pregnancy! Has anyone else found their babies love the foods they craved in pregnancy?

LBB, Hi don't worry about the crawling as long as his legs seem strong- he'll do it in his own sweet time, and as people have pointed out, some babies never crawl, they just walk. In a couple of years all the babies will have evened up and we'll have another load of issues to worry about!

Meandmyjoe · 10/06/2008 07:08

lol, clubbing out!

Hi James, sorry you had a crap day working. It must be hard, espevially when the sun's shining.

Bless James with his blue poos! I craved milk during pregnancy and smash mash potato (yuk!) So it's hard to tell if Joe would like that as he obviously loves milk but there;s no way I'm getting him into smash!

Littleboyblue, my ds was headbutting the floor for months! It took him ages to work out how to lift his head and his bum but even when he could,, he crawled backwards for weeks! He'll get there and probably as I found it'll happen in huge leaps and bounds and take you by suprise!

Hope everyone has a good day.

littleboyblue · 10/06/2008 07:16

Thanx everyone, he was on all fours with head and bum up together a minute ago but didn't seem to like it! I know he'll do it when ready, it's just a bit frustrating for me too.

Also, I have had enough of the word dada, we need to hear some mama now.

Meandmyjoe · 10/06/2008 09:17

Lol, we have the opposite here. DS constantly jabbers 'mumumum' and 'mama' but has never said 'dada' yet so dh is rather frustrated too!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 10/06/2008 14:14

Nothing but bababababa here still.

Joe. it's not the working I mind it's the fact that I got paid so little for it, although like everyone I would have preferred to spen yesterday in the sunshine!

The plan today was to get out in the sun, and James has slept and slept and slept- He slept til 10am, then nodded off at noon. He's just woken up again. Strange boy!

Hope everyone's doing ok x

Have not catched up propley but will do very soon!
I have not deserted you but Just got back from a fantastic week in Turkey, Bth ds Loved it, wasnt as bad going with a baby as i thought. Both were extremely well behaved even to the point where we had people comment on them! Lost Baby alot as the Turkish Love Blond hair/blue eyes, they were forever picking him up, Kissing and cuddling, strange really as you would never allow it back home! He is even managing to crawl a little bit now, only 4/5 then he is down on he belly again! Has got very fast , had to eventually get the stairgates back up!

littleboyblue · 10/06/2008 18:23

OMG, looks like we having some progress in the development field. Ds is trying to pull himself up on sofa, he can't do it, but he's trying, yay!!!! Oh, now he just wants to eat the sofa, right. Hmm

conkertree · 11/06/2008 09:18

littleboyblue - ds was just the same - getting frustrated when his nose hit off the ground instead of crawling until monday night when he just suddenly got it - two drags with his arms got him going forward, then he was off and he hasnt looked back since so as menamyjoe says- he will probably take you by surprise.

had second viewing of a house yesterday - think we will offer today - very excited but dont think he will accept it as it will be quite low - but you never know. sorry am babbling. just excited.

ds has decided he likes rice and proper pasta (had been giving him baby sized ones but he started eating from my bowl last night and chomped his way through quite a few bits) now which makes cooking for all of us together a bit easier.

loler · 11/06/2008 11:19

Hello - sorry for not being very regular. Have had a quick skim through the last few posts. Is that TT being pg with dc2? I remember her saying she wanted a close gap.

I'm trying to amuse myself and not think about my DSis who is currently in labour with dc1. Feel so nervous - god knows what I'll be like if dd ever has a baby (hopefully not going to find out for a very very long time!). Has made me feel like our family is complete. Normally feel jealous of pg ladies but this time I feel happy and glad it's not me!

Hope everyone else is doing well. LBB - my ds2 isn't moving at all. Just put it down to him being laid back and enjoying my time not having to chase him!

conkertree · 11/06/2008 12:56

hi loler - good to hear from you. can imagine you're on tenterhooks waiting to hear about your dsis.

how's life with you otherwise?
