Couldn't think of anything contraversial!

Get well, Indith's ds, xxx

Castles, my DM spends hours every visit berating me for not homeopathing my kids more....I need to overcome my natural reaction and think about L52 or some such next winter. Though I do recall trying a French cold/flu remedy with no success at all in my youth....is it possible that homeopathy works for some people and not others??

Olihan · 17/06/2008 07:19

Oh, poor ds, Indith. I'm living in fear of ds2 next ear infection, they are so horrible for them. At least the eardrum's gone by the sounds of it, hopefully he's not in pain anymore.

Sympathies for all the others with lurgies too, we've had snotty noses here all weekend. Ick.

Castles, do you see a homeopath or just treat them yourself, iyswim? What do they take? There's a girl in the village who does it and I'm considering taking ds2 to see her about his eczema. The practical, non lentil-weavery side of me is a bit though (it's the idea that it will cost £££££ but not make any difference, tbh ).

Nearly finished MILs cake, think I was a bit over ambitious with what I chose to do, it's taken hours!

AQ, didn't make it to the PO on Sat - forgot it closed at lunchtime but will do it this am......sorry!

jabberwocky · 17/06/2008 14:16

Poor Indith's ds

I;m working full-time this week and next so a different routine at the jabber house. I must admit going to work is soooo restful

I need to educate myself more on homeopathic remedies. A mini-lecture from castles maybe?

accessorizequeen · 17/06/2008 20:05

urgggh, poor ds, indith! Hope he's better now. Can't believe they both napped until 4.15 when they could have been playing with each other? They can do it in a few weeks though!

Saw consultant yesterday and everything fine, I have another scan in 3 weeks which is quite exciting, I didn't know if I'd have anymore.

Jabber, cannot imagine working full time but I know what you mean about a rest! I'm glad you've got the work though, you were worried about that. Have finally got pediatric referral early july for ds1 but same time as my scan so dp has to take him.

Oli, whenever you get to the PO is great with me, you're doing me a favour remember. Is cake finished yet? What kind is it that's so ambitious, I don't do cakes although mars' lemon drizzle sounds v.nice & worth a bash. Friends must be bored of the same 3 biscuit/muffin/bun things I churn out (and ds1!).

wrinklytum · 17/06/2008 21:03

Hi sorry to crash thread again.AQ tried ringign you a couple of times.Got dx for dd-she has a "smooth brain" ?lissencephaly ie it did not develop properly. At last a dx!!!dp back in hospital on IV abs.Other than that, things OK gGlad everything ok with your scan Have you decided on any names.Hope the dsss are well you mention paed referral with ds 1 hes OK I hope?Catch you soon love Wrinkly xxxxxx

Olihan · 17/06/2008 21:15

Jabber, the only reason I'd go back to work is to have a break from the dcs .

AQ, glad everything's going well still. How many weeks are you now? Posted the clothes today for you, don't worry about postage, it wasn't much.

Have put photos of cakes on my profile and only recent pics of dcs which are poncy pro ones. I haven't got the time or energy to sort out all the snapshot ones - it'll take about a day to download the SD card I think.

Indith · 18/06/2008 13:09

My god Oli those cakes are amazing!

Dshas been fine and happy with hisearthoughlastnight nightnot greatanda bitgrumpy today. Hmmmappears to be a slight glitch with my space bar! He fell asleep on the way home this morning just before lunch for all of 5 mins so is now in his cot refusing to nap! He noramlly goes right off but I can hear him playing asI type, waiting for him to sleep as I am back to collapsing point. Can't really take anything as am being retested on Tuesday so supplements would affect results.

EustaciaVye · 18/06/2008 13:15

Oli - cakes are fab! Family pics are lovely too

Elibean · 18/06/2008 14:14

Oli, that is not a 'shock' face but a 'hungry with mouth open' face, at your cakes. They are amazing!

Indith, so glad ds is better but poor you...please, please try and get some rest? Can you?

Speaking of rest, dd2 is napping with scaffolders around her window, builders above her head banging and drilling, and the phone ringing. Amazing. I'm very

EustaciaVye · 18/06/2008 17:39

I've just been out and bought DD1 some school uniform

castlesintheair · 18/06/2008 18:31

Cor blimey Olihan, how do you find the time

Re homeopath: I go and see one. Agree about hocus-pocus bit but have to say DS hasn't been ill since September. Nothing, not even a cold. Worth the money imo.

I am so looking forward to the end of term. Life is just ker-razee at the moment. I often dream of returning to work Jabber just to get some peace but I think I'd miss the little darlings too much now. Plus my brain has gone mouldy.

Congrats on scan AQ and anyone else.

accessorizequeen · 18/06/2008 21:19

Oli, thanks so much parcel arrived this morning, ever so pleased, they will be used!! Hug! Cakes fabulous no wonder they took hours you put me to complete shame I would love to be able to do something like that for ds1's 5th birthday but suspect tesco again!

I think homeopath would be fantastic, I'm going to get no of one my friend used for the birth & afterwards.

Indith, my ds does that ALL the time - 5 mins is enough harummpph! Thank god not today though, so I had nice nap on sofa curled around ds1 listening to . Hope you go to bed early and don't appear on here. I am tired, but that early pg tiredness plus whatever else it is with you is the worst!

I had to share ds1's latest infatuation, he now has a pebble called Bonting, it lives in a little box dm found. He got the idea from an Alfie book (anyone here read Alfie to their lo's?) anyway insisted last night that I had to make some clothes for Bonting (pebble is about 4 inches high!). DP, bless him, suggested a balloon cut off so Bonting is now fast asleep in his box in new lycra swimming costume/pj's. I think Bonting has now replaced 'Cute' (baby ring tailed lemur soft toy from the zoo) in his affections. I loved your tat box btw EV, we have several of them, glad to know it's girls too! Pieces of string, macaroni, cars of course etc etc.

jabberwocky · 18/06/2008 22:32

Oli, those cakes are fabulous!!! I can't imagine having the time (or talent) to do that

lol at your ds1's pet pebble. Does anyone remember the pet rock craze of the 70's? eli?

I'm working at a friend's office today and it's been rather slow. Quite restful actually

Elibean · 18/06/2008 22:55

I remember, Jabber, but didn' subscribe to it personally You?

AQ, love the pebble story...any chance of a photo? And, did you have another scan, that I missed?

Am utterly bushed, even without being pg. Builders, dds, dds' friends, parents (long story, having small tea party for dd2 this weekend and no way my parents would consider being in the same room as each other, or even debating whose turn it is...talk about tantrums), hormones...

..EV, we're going to parents' evening tomorrow night, and to buy uniform there too: will be joining you in !

Olihan · 19/06/2008 07:49

Aw, bless at pet pebble and LOL at lycra clothes - that's ingenious .

School uniform here too . Bought 2 jumpers, tie, PE t'shirt, and book bag at parents' meeting then bought 2 pairs of trousers and 3 shirts in Tesco. He's desperate to wear it all but I'm stalling - I don't want to see my baby looking so grown up. He had lunch at big school yesterday and loved it. I, on the other hand, wanted to cry when I picked him up. I'm not ready for this!

Thanks for compliments about the cakes. I love doing them but they are really time consuming and my entire house descends into chaos for the time it takes me to do one! My washing and ironing piles are mountainous and the kitchen floor is a health hazard.

AQ, glad you liked the clothes - it's good someone can get some more use out of them .

Elibean · 19/06/2008 10:07

and at your ds and you, Oli...suspect dd and I will both be both, IYSWIM.

Speaking of school clothes.......I got the wrong week for teh parents evening, had booked babysitter for tonight and would have turned up to empty school!

Scatty indeed...

...and there is a very large crack appearing in the ceiling outside dd1's door, where stairs will eventually go. Builders say 'should be ok, but don't stand underneath it'. Very reassuring

babypowder · 19/06/2008 12:12

Oli, I am so at you cake-making. Whenever I try to do that it ends up looking like something DD1 would make Is it all just fondant icing?

I have such fond memories of DD1 in her school uniform on her first day of school. She seemed so tiny, so young. It's amazing that it was less than a year ago - they really do grow up so quickly in their first year. Not in a bad way, just quickly.

DD2 has suddenly stopped drinking at nursery. She drinks nothing - no milk or water - and therefore has dry nappies all day. She'll drink at home, and of course I'm still BF, but it's still worrying that she goes 8 hours without a sip of anything. I'm completely lost on this one. She doesn't have a favourite cup or anything, only gets milk or water at home. Any ideas?

accessorizequeen · 19/06/2008 12:45

bp, 8 hrs does sound a lot! Straws maybe (I think ds2 can just about manage them now)? Or ds2 loves drinking out of a sports-cap water bottle if I have one.

Must take photo of ds1 with Bonting, then! He's got an upset tummy for last couple of days I think the stone makes him feel better. I got cross this morning with the eternal fight for him to get dressed so I can go to work arggghh.

Eli, if it makes you feel better I had made (2nd) appt for ds2's follow-up jabs, they turned up on doorstep and I sent them away as he was ill

Haven't bought a thing for school except brilliant ABC book from tesco which he can practice his letters in and wipe them off again. Finally I can get him to practice some writing, he won't even do his name at all these days I've clearly been pushing it although thought I hadn't. I'm kinda with you Oli, will cry when I see him in uniform (although it's v.relaxed at his school) but I know he needs more than I can provide at the moment.

Elibean · 19/06/2008 13:55

Aaaargh, ceiling came down

Two minutes after dh said 'no, no, its not going to, NO its NOT worse than it was'

But ten minutes after I'd thrown dust sheets over things and shut all the landing doors [smug]

Now propped up with screwed in plywood, hope it holds up till next week. I'm going to tease dh for months on this one

BP, I agree with trying straws and sports bottles, dd loves both. She also loves dd1's old 'big girl' sippy cup?

Elibean · 19/06/2008 13:55

Thanks, AQ, but as you're pg and I'm not, no, not really

Elibean · 20/06/2008 12:28

Have I killed our thread?

Please tell me I haven't...

jabberwocky · 20/06/2008 14:04

You can't kill this thread! We're practically family

EustaciaVye · 20/06/2008 14:23
