Couldn't think of anything contraversial!

EV - I have no buggy experience I'm afraid otherwise would love to help. We stay in premier inns quite often too, have always liked them.

We have a very awkward surname so baby names is a tricky area. Girls are easier than boys but we never like any girls names so they end up being just as awkward. If its a boy then we need to find something slightly unusual otherwise we'll end up with a list of forenames for a name, which just doesn't work (see FB ) and if its a girl then the name needs to be soft really since our surname sounds quite harsh afterwards - I think Lauren is too harsh. But I'm coming round to Millie .

I like Dylan - it is a grown up name though which is my only doubt about it. I can't imagine a little baby being called Dylan, where as DDs name worked right from the start and will still be nice when she is older.

I know what you mean, Lennied (as I know your surname!). You need something with more than 1 syllable too, i think? I find the baby name lists on here are quite useful, I made a list last night.

LenniEd · 18/08/2008 21:56

Yeah, we are definately looking for a longer girls name this time - but if it gets too long it sounds a bit posh with our surname so it is a bit of a delicate balance! It doesn't help that I have an enormous family so about 40 names are out straight away, and DHs little family uses up about another 15.

I look through the names on here from time to time but I'm putting it off if I'm honest, I'm not a good decision maker, prefer to procrastinate. DH meanwhile must come up with at least 2 suggestions a day, bless him.

I got my results back from uni the other day - I got 76% and 75% in the 2 essays I rushed to finish before my holiday - with the 76% being in the one I forgot to spell check , and then 68% on the one I spent weeks and weeks of hard work on . Am pleased overall though. At least its given me a bit of inspiration to finish my dissertation.

Well done Lennied! Fantastic results

Re Dylan a friend of mine has one, I only met him aged 4 but it suited him well and I think is pretty good as a little boy's name.

Babynames, yeay! One of the most enjoyable topics (though hell to be the one choosing, IIRCC). Sympathies with tricky surnames, LenniEd, us too. dd2 nearly got called 'um, you there' because it took so long...

Speaking of dd2, she just woke up - yes, nearly 8am, but no cheering please, she got drugged midnightish for tooth pain

Elibean · 19/08/2008 07:57

Glad you had a nice break, EV, and I agree too - PIs are v good value, and IME super-clean.

Actually, we have one quite near us and I sometimes fantasize about sneaking off for a night with a good book and earplugs....

Hi everyone,

eli, hope dd's scan goes well. We had a few hip worries with ds1 but everything was fine in the end.

AQ, so sorry about the SPD! No one over here seems to know much about it but I'm fairly sure that's what was going on with me when I was pg with ds1. Very painful

trying to stay abreast of everyone - like the name Dylan btw, seriously considered it actually for ds1.

am working like mad atm. I have two offices now, had lunch with a colleague yesterday about setting up a developmental/behavioral optometry office in his practice with long-term goal of buying the whole thing, am calling another doc today to set up interview to possibly hire her for my busier location.

Ds1 started school yesterday and it went really, really well. It justified everything we have gone through in the last 10 months to get him in. I had a meeting with the counselor regarding his sensory issues and we are meeting with his "team" this week. They have an occupational therapist and speech therapist on board. The teacher, principal (head), special ed coordinator and counselor will all be there. I'm blown away by how thorough they are and how much they care about these kids.

Jabber, pleased to hear work is going so well and DS1s school has worked out well too. It must make it all seem so worthwhile with the trauma you have been through, and hopefully you'll see a rapid improvement with him if they are putting so much in place. It really does make such a difference if they get the support they need right from the start of school. How are things with DH? Still better than they were?

We are crazy here too with DHs business. A few different projects have all got off the ground at the same time, which is great but hard work. Am also starting to wonder if it might be the right time to think about some childcare or hiring someone to help out DH. I can't cover child rearing and his admin at the moment, as well being pregnant (that is my part-time hobby ). DD is still very clingy though, not sure if she'd get on very well at a nursery unless I dedicated a lot of time to settling her in. I'd love to have a couple of mornings a week though when I could just get on with work rather than trying to juggle phone calls, paperwork and a toddler. The other option is to ask my MIL to have her which would be easier for me and DD as closer and less trauma - although she is often away so it would be a bit hit and miss. Aaaarrghh, so many decisions, I wish I was capable of making a choice on anything!

jabberwocky · 20/08/2008 00:31

lenniEd, Ds2 had his second day of mother's day out today and it went very well.Maybe something like that would work?

Indith · 20/08/2008 20:54

we are going to run out of space soon if anyone comes back and starts talking
