Couldn't think of anything contraversial!

Whoa there Indith at your mammoth post!

Oli - what kind of coke habit have you got?

We've been at my parents for the last couple of days as we still have no hot water.

Olihan · 14/06/2008 22:40

Only the brown fizzy kind, but it was the full fat, full sugar, full caffeine variety, so probably on a par with Cocaineke on the main MN boards .

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 14/06/2008 22:49

tsk tsk!

I was doing a double-take at coke snorting too, blimey, we'll have none of that, we're mothers for goodness sake.

Last weekend we were somewhere called West Wittering on the south coast, not too far from Portsmouth/Chichester. DH's aunt and uncle have a flat on the beach and we stayed and it was gorgeous weather and it was lovely lovely lovely.

Today DD2 has come down with some kind of bug, she was suddenly feverish after lunch and vomited all over me, and now asleep, but am quite worried... I always think the worst and panic.

babypowder · 14/06/2008 23:21

Oli, LOL at your Cokaine reference. I get so scared out there!

My mum always used vagina when we were small. My sister had a yearning to be a police woman when she was young. The RCMP training school is in Regina, Saskatchewan. Naturally, my DSis told everyone who would stand still that she was going to Vagina to become a police woman I do use 'gina, but may well switch to 'bits' I hate euphimism, but I can't work out what to do for the best!

It's been DD1's turn for the lurgy this weekend. Had to take her to the MIU yesterday, as within 30 minutes her eye had swollen to enormous proportions. The conjunctiva was so swollen it was protuding from her eye socket [ick] Today she came down with a nasty tummy bug, so it's been truly gruesome chez BP.

While we were sat in the MIU last night, DD1 asked me what 'ego' was. I told her that it was how we feel about ourselves (she is only 5, and probably too young for the full explanation ) I then asked how she felt about herself. She thought for a second, and then said 'I'm proud of myself' Well, my heart just swelled. Think how far we could all fly if we could say 'I'm proud of myself' For someone so quiet and thoughtful to say that is a big deal in my books! I hope self-doubt remains a stranger to her (unlike her paranoid, worrying mother )

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 14/06/2008 23:44

aw bp! What lovely things children say.

OP posts:
EustaciaVye · 15/06/2008 06:29

I love the things they say at this age BP. Hope her eye gets better.

Coco - sounds like you had a lovely week away

castlesintheair · 15/06/2008 09:38

Awww, she sound's lovely BP. I like the quiet ones ...

EustaciaVye · 15/06/2008 11:10

Castles - we seem to have 5.30 starts every day here now

I used to be a morning person but I find it hard now. Not helped by heavy period as I'm v tired. However sun is shining, DH out with DD1 shopping and DD2 is sleeping I've cleaned half the house and so am now on MN as my reward

Gloria42 · 15/06/2008 11:27

Morning! Don't have time to catch up just now, but if anyone has time could you take a look at this? Any help appreciated

babypowder · 15/06/2008 13:12

Gloria, I have no experience of coeliac disease, but wanted to make sure you're OK. It must come as a huge shock - although I imagine that now your DP knows what's wrong he must be in some way relieved?

Gloria42 · 15/06/2008 19:30

Thanks BP, we're ok but a bit daunted by the whole thing. It's seems like a total life change for us all and TBH I think we're a bit shell shocked.
I'm more a doer, getting on internet, looking at books etc. He's a bit more of an ostrich, head in the sand and fingers in ears (if ostriches have fingers, but I'm sure you know what I mean!)

Olihan · 15/06/2008 20:37

No experience here either, Gloria but I hope your dp feels better quickly.

Elibean · 15/06/2008 20:46

Ditto, Gloria...have posted on your Health thread, it must be a lot to take on board.

Elibean · 15/06/2008 20:47

BP your dd sounds soo lovely. I hope you're as proud as she is (of yourself as well as her)

Elibean · 15/06/2008 20:51

dds have colds/coughs - reminds me of winter

dd2 is coughing and streaming and I think we're in for a long night. I will think of you early risers at 5am, should I be awake, probably will be. dh and I are relieved dm has gone home - some nice bits, but she told me I was fat, and dh he was immoral (he threw away a spoonful of leftover rice ) and enough is enough.

The dds gave him a lovely father's day - flowers, croissants, cards (dd2 loves to scribble, v useful) and the belt, which I eventually found after searching every cupboard in the house, couldn't remember when I'd hidden it

How was Father's Day for everyone?

accessorizequeen · 15/06/2008 20:55

Gloria, sorry to hear about your dp. No advice to offer unfortunately. I'm sure he will feel a whole lot better once diet is under control though.

5.30 starts argggghhhh. I suppose I ought to think about it as I'll be getting 3 hours a night again soon but still don't know how you both cope castles & ev.

Oli, do let me know how much the p&p was, really appreciate it! I have just wrecked 3 pairs of trousers in the wash so not really much to wear at present!

cbear, I can imagine you do worry when dd2 gets ill but I think I would too, vomiting always makes me nervous although really it's better out than in iykwim!

bp, awwwww! That's what I want for my kids too, I have always been anxious and worried, want my kids to have confidence in themselves as I never have.

babypowder · 15/06/2008 22:26

Fathers' Day in the BP house started with a pancetta roll (didn't have any bacon I sound so bloody up myself when I type things like that) in bed, with lots of cards and pressies. It then quickly degenerated as DD1 continued her vomit-fest.

Funnily enough, though, by noon she was right as rain, back to her old self. My mum always says that if only we knew they were going to be alright we could relax and enjoy the times when they are poorly and quiet. I feel completely shell shocked today!

How's your DD tonight, Coco? DDs1 and 2 have both had this 24 hour vomiting bug now - hope yours is the same. I'm not surprised you panic.

babypowder · 15/06/2008 22:27

Actually, I could simply have said that DH had a bacon roll. No one would have been any the wiser

Elibean · 16/06/2008 12:06

bp, I think I love you for explaining the bacon/pancetta roll when you didn't have to

I'm glad your dd is better, hope Coco's Lo is too? Some friends had the vomiting bug again, last week, and it was 24 hours too...but v nasty while it lasted, with fevers and lethargy etc.

Had a surprisingly calm night, to our amazement, with one wake up for coughing fit which got sorted with Medised

Indith · 16/06/2008 13:05

Lol BP, was good old fry up with bacon and a fried slice in our house. My mum got in on the act too while my dad muttered about all the good work she's been doing at the gym and how he couldn't possibly have a fry up due to cholesterol

AQ don't be I'm back in a couple of weeks and there shall be no escape Ds also slept until 4.15!

5.30 starts Ds is a 7.30/8 man. Mind you on Saturday he got up at 5.30 just to keep us on our toes, since I didn't get to bed until gone midnight Sat night with the party it was a long day!

Someone bought ds one of those noisy vtech things that claim to teach stuff but are actually a loud, pointless hunk of plastic. Ds loves it and it just won't stop singing random songs and making car noises!

Vomit bugs are evil, much sympathy.

Gloria I hope things improve with diet, not a nice thing to find out but a diagnosis is a good thing.

Oli ds never shuts up either, he just doesn't make any sense. Mind you when he pointed at the cheerios this morning, babbled and pointed at his mouth I got the picture!

castlesintheair · 16/06/2008 14:32

One of my sisters has coeliac's Gloria. You get used to it, just don't eat wheat and it's only your DP that has to do that. Loads of stuff in supermarkets nowadays, not like when my Dsis was diagnosed as a kid. It's not really life-changing: my sister and her DH run a pub and have 3 DSs

Just reading DD1's(4) pre-school report and the first thing they said is that she's a sensitive girl. Nearly passed out with shock - I'm sure they have the wrong child: her name rhymes with stroppy and she loves to sing and dance VERY LOUDLY ALL THE TIME

Hope all the lurgies are getting better. Did I ever mention homeopaths My DCs rarely get ill these days, DS never.

Indith · 16/06/2008 19:38

Ds' ear exploded in a fountain of goo. Nice.

EustaciaVye · 16/06/2008 20:16

Poor DS Indith

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 16/06/2008 22:21

The worst pain in the world - ear and tooth ache.,He has my sympathies Indith.
