Couldn't think of anything contraversial!

I'm here too! I just have nothing interesting to say.

LenniEd · 20/06/2008 21:01

Hi all, we're back. Had an amazing time, but the house is a tip and the washing mountain has only so far been reduced to a hill so no time to catch up on everything I've missed just yet. Noticed your DS is poorly Indith - hope he is feeling better.

DD had an ear infection for the first few days of our hols, had to take her to the hospital as she was all limp and not drinking/eating plus fever and a rash (which turned out to be from the sheets, prob bio washing powder) - as soon as we paid the bill she was sat up giggling First time she's been properly ill really except for reactions to her early jabs and colds - was quite scared for a while it was going to be something dreadful.

Love the pebble story AQ Thanks again for the belly belts, they are brilliant, will be well used - what do I do with the material bit (stupid question I know), do I just tuck it in after threading the belt part through?? What do you do when you are using the shortest ones? Not bother with the material?

Right, what's been happening then?

accessorizequeen · 20/06/2008 21:06

We are all very bored, lennied so welcome back! Worrying about dd, my boys are the same with bio and I come out in a dreadful rash in hotels sometimes! You describe use of bump bands exactly, I only ever used the short one tbh (without material). Think another button needed if you're not as large as I am!

LenniEd · 20/06/2008 21:24

Bored? Nooooo!!! Surely not! How are the twins? And Jabber's new job/house? And is Eli's DD properly walking now, and what happened with the chicken pox? And what about Indith's wedding plans - that can't be far off now can it?

And I have about a hundred other questions...

And I have stories from holiday too - for starters DD got propositioned in the street by a Greek toddler, who held her hand and gave her a kiss on the cheek so she responded by slapping him round the face and then running off crying to her Daddy. Was so funny. Am hoping she will do the same when she is 16! I could go on, but I'll bore you all silly...

EustaciaVye · 20/06/2008 21:28

DD2 is so sweet. I was killing singing Wheel;s on the bus to her today and 5 mins later I heard her babbling and then going 'ee, ee, ee' and beeping her nose! Then she said as clear as anything 'up and down' and jumped up and down....

accessorizequeen · 20/06/2008 21:45

Awww, they're really lovely at this age (although not when ill, forgotten what a nice child ds2 is as he's been a horror for 2 weeks). I love they way they start picking up on little routines that you have, ds2 sprinting to the dining room if there is a hint of food in the kitchen!
Am surfing ebay for girlie clothes, I have been unleashed now 25 weeks! Poor boy twin . You must be excited about your scan coming up lennied?? Will you be 12 weeks or more then?

Elibean · 20/06/2008 22:00

Ah!

Thank goodness for that, you're all still alive

Welcome back, Lennied, sounds like an excellent holiday - and love the dd and the toddler story. Being kissed by a stranger - quite right

BTW, dd is walking - drunkenly, but walking - and never caught the pox, amazingly.

accessorizequeen · 20/06/2008 22:01

That must be such a relief for your back, eli! I lurrrrrve ds2 walking, aside from the inherent cuteness of the robot thing. It makes him seem less of a baby so that I feel better about having two more - does that make any sense?

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 20/06/2008 23:11

I'm here too - currently drooling at the thought of Olis cakes.

I've been asked to apply for a job which means a promotion while still keeping my hours. Wish me luck!

OP posts:
jabberwocky · 21/06/2008 01:22

Good luck on the job margo!

congrats to eli's dd2 on the walking

lennied, holiday sounds really nice - apart from the ear infection, that is.

AQ, have to admit a little at shopping for little girl clothes.

EV, the up and down is too cute. I'm loving the little words ds2 is coming up with.

job is going pretty well actually. I'm pleased with the progress in just 3 weeks time. carpet won't be in for another week though - aughhh!

Gloria42 · 21/06/2008 10:31

Is it wrong to be excited about hemming curtains and mopping floors ?? My DM&D have taken DS to Royal Highland Show and I have the whole day free! I think it's slightly sad that my first thought is all the housework I can catch up on!!!

Just catching up with a cup of coffee (which I will drink hot all the way down) before i start!

Have a lovely day everyone x

jabberwocky · 21/06/2008 14:19

oooo, a free day

LenniEd · 21/06/2008 19:20

Shopping for girl clothes is fun - even DH enjoys it! I have never got on with dresses for DD though, except for cotton t-shirt type material ones - all her frilly dresses that relatives have given us are pretty much untouched.

How lovely to have a day to yourself Gloria, must admit housework would be my first plan too. Housework is a treat nowadays, how times have changed.

I am excited about my scan AQ but TBH I'm being a little cautious about things at the moment. Have had cramps right from the start and although midwife thinks they are nothing to worry about I'm not going to be sure until I know everything is OK. It looks likely that they are caused by constipation rather than anything more sinister but I haven't told anyone except my sister just yet, just in case. DH has only told a couple of close friends for a bit of moral support. We would tell our parents either way but my DM has had several miscarriages and a stillbirth in the last five years with her 2nd husband, so don't want her to have to go through the waiting game with us. Scan is a week on Monday, so not much longer left to wait. I would have got an early one but the midwife was only going to refer me if it got worse or I had any bleeding, which fortunately I haven't had.

Am off to bed now I think - tiredness caught up on me today. Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

Elibean · 22/06/2008 12:42

AQ, perfect sense!

Hope you're enoying your day, Gloria...tbh, I think having space to myself to do just about anything feels wonderful, so totally understand! Nesting on one's own, bliss...

dd2's little Naming Day tea party this afternoon - I thought we'd kept it soo low key, just family, godparents, in local cafe by pond so kids can play, sandwiches and cakes (wish Oli was here!). Why am I frazzled? And I have to SAY something - eek! I have two hours to wash hair, find somethign to wear, and organize the dds. And think of what to say

Why am I on MN....?! Ah, displacement activity, of course...

EustaciaVye · 22/06/2008 14:37

Eli - hope it goes well this afternoon

babypowder · 22/06/2008 20:58

Eli, hope it went well today!

I've never been a 'pink for girls, blue for boys' mum, and my DDs seemed to spend their babyhood in dungarees. I love looking at little dresses, though, and imaging a cerubic girl baby in them. My two always seemed to look like thugs in dresses (DD2 still does!)

Can anyone help me with this? Tricky situation

accessorizequeen · 22/06/2008 21:28

jabber, I think it's more of a way for me to get excited about the twins. I must say 4 boys would have been just fine with me, I think boys are fab! I bought largely pink at nct because that's all they had, why is everything pastel pink? The boys most wear green, cause it suits them both and goes with everything! Sorry, very boring about clothes, I'm nesting at present, planning the nursery etc. I have another scan on the 7th July, excited to see them again.

eli, hope all went well, I'm sure it did & you spoke beautifully and looked gorgeous as did the girls! I wish I had had baby naming for either of the boys but dp very anti the whole idea so never did it Perhaps I'll persuade him with the dt's!

Lennied, my fingers will be crossed for you on the 30th, I had quite a lot of early cramps never occurred to me that it was constipation!

Olihan · 22/06/2008 22:46

AQ, dd isn't a particularly girly pink sort of child but there are loads of lovely non pink clothes once you get past the real baby stuff.

Eli, hope today went well, if I was closer I'd have definitely made your dd a cake!

Very of Gloria's day on her own, although I'd also clean but then spend the afternooon staring at my beautifully clean house while it couldn't be trashed within seconds .

I've been doing some work for DH, proof reading 60 Year 8 reports . Secondary teachers are an illiterate lot, honestly .

Elibean · 22/06/2008 22:59

you are all lovely.

It went very well, I think I looked like a busty barmaid (first time in my life, courtesy of dd2 who seems to hvae left me much better endowed ) but the dds looked lovely and had a gorgeous time. dd2 got more attention in one day than she's had in 18 months, I reckon, not to mention balloons and 'caaaaaake!' (she'd love you, Oli) and I'll post a photo asap. Oh, and I did manage to speak, and dh made me cry (in a nice way). Most of all: phew, thank god thats done

I'm so knackered I am now staggering to bed...everyone else already snoring.

Lennied, just so's you know, I had cramps all the way through first trimestesr with dd2, so did lots of my friends, its v v normal - but invariably anxious-making, of course. I found a doppler helped, but they can help or not depending ont he individual!

Elibean · 22/06/2008 23:00

AQ, just curious, what bit is your dp anti about? Ours was very home-made and informal, and totally not religious - hard to think what anyone could object to, other than the plain hard work of it all

jabberwocky · 23/06/2008 01:44

I had cramps too. Once so bad I called the dr. convinced I was having a m/c. She told me to take some pepto bismol and call her back if it didn't work. Worked like a charm. I was relieved and a bit but you can't help worrying about every little thing.

accessorizequeen · 23/06/2008 12:02

I clean/tidy too Gloria (and get excited about it!) whenever I get an hour free although I did attempt a shopping expedition yesterday for mat.clothes have grown out of most of mine (despite your generous addition, oli!). I downloaded photos of me last night and was horrified at saggy enormous boobs, just cried, I hate maternity bras! I did see lots of v.cute bright clothes in h&m but trying to budget so didn't buy any and ran into friend at tesco's who has promised me a newborn stash anyway! Prob. all pastel pink, but free!

Lennied, if m/w not worried, high chance that everything is fine. It's bleeding that is the bad sign, what little I know!

Eli, that all sounds a lovely but exhausting day. DP just doesn't see the point, and can't persuade him otherwise! I told him he wouldn't have to speak or anything!

We have a 360 mini-digger in our garden today, will be completely dug up by time I return from work scary!

jabberwocky · 23/06/2008 13:12

Cleaning/tidying/organizing is a constant thing for me right now. I keep dreaming of the day when the house will be put to rights...carpet getting put in on Friday so that will help tremendously.

EustaciaVye · 23/06/2008 15:08

I got into flylady when I was nesting with dd2. My house was immaculate when I went to hospital

babypowder · 23/06/2008 17:32

I'm trying to work through Flylady's pre-holiday checklist before we go on Friday. I feel sooo incompetent!

I've had an odd day today. I was meant to be working from home but my systems crashed. So I did some paper based stuff, got my legs waxed, did some washing & ironing and made some cupcakes for DD1's end of term party. All strangely relaxing as the DD's and DH weren't around!

I've just realised that I've eaten nothing of any nutritional value since breakfast. Loads of chocolate digestives and cake batter, but nothing good for me. And then I wonder why I can't lose these pesky 5 pounds!

Must write a letter to DD1s head now, praising her teacher to the sky.
