Now paint your face blue, and stick your tongue out at the world - end especially the half-wit-mid-life-crisis-lacking-common-sense-PMT-suffering-eejits we otherwise call men.

eandh, ratbunny, susie, UD - this one's for you

ladytophamhatt · 12/06/2008 10:36

I hope it does come flat packed, heaven knows where it'll go otherwise!

It'l go in the cellar until next week.

I hoping the arguments will be minimal because we've just got a new laptop so teh old pc is going in ds1s room (minus the internet) so they'll both have something to kep them away from each other.

I'm probably being naive to think that though

wonderwomanakaeandh · 12/06/2008 10:38

Right I'm opening the bookies - any bets on hour many hours days till you are on here cursing them fighting over pc/sports table

wonderwomanakaeandh · 12/06/2008 10:38

ladytophamhatt · 12/06/2008 12:33

Its here.

its massive.

I think he might have to sleep on teh landing when its set up in his room.

theSuburbanDryad · 12/06/2008 12:43

Why don't you let him sleep on it LTH?

We've not gone anywhere yet - Z decided that he needed a nap, then i think it's Maccy D's for lunch (UD destroys her lentil-weaving credentials in one easy swoop! ) and then probably the one in Aylesbury. Or maybe we'll just go to the park as it's stopped raining!

vinorouge · 12/06/2008 14:46

Hello!

Long time no post from vino. Still pregnant. 2 weeks to go. Head not engaged but baby still head down.

Sleeping has been ok since that odd night so lets hope that continues.

E is asleep at mo, since she moved rooms at nursery she only has one long nap in the afternoon which is handy for me. Just orderd tesco stuff online and caught up on MN, off to a friends when E wakes up.

Buggies - I love buggy talk! Used my phil and teds for first time this week which I love. So excited about having them both in it. I also have a britax verve which I bought as mt cosy tot baby car seat fitted on teh chassis and the buggy bit is great for me cos the handles are quite high. Basket holds nothing though. And I have a hauck stroller like Wilkie and Rgee that is v handy. My garage is full of buggies and raincovers!

UD - E has always been thirsty after nursery. They have milk with brek, juice at snack time and water with meals. You mentioned rocks cordials ages ago, where do you get them?

I've just started giving E 50/50 fruit juice and water with brek at home (usually has it at nursery). She has varied cereals at nursery now so have just bought some new ones for home, big boxes of cheerios and shreddies in tesco are cheaper than the small ones cos of offer price.

Rgee - glad spa was good. Once you get my text that baby is born pop over if its work day, if not pop to the house, visitors welcome as soon as I am home. Wilkie - same to you although I will also def make it over to you with the new babe and E.

Made my first ever bakewell tart this week and it is yummy!

Shimmer - I got to choose my own engagement ring too and went over budget. DH very kindly said I could have theone I wanted. It went on his credit carda t the time tho so i prob helped pay it off!

LTH - my dad keeps hens.E loves collecting the eggs when she is there and he currently has lots of chicks that she likes chasing int he garden.

Reggiee · 12/06/2008 19:12

Hiya Vino. Pmsl at 'still pregnant'. I just got the shreddies and cheerios on offer too! Anyone else eat any other cereals (except Weetabix and porridge?).

LTH that looks FAB! I think I'd be on it all the time if I had it, never mind the ds's.

Rat / 2H / Lal hope you enjoyed the Apprentice last night. I then stayed up til late watching all the follow on programmes. So, should I apply for next year

Pushchairs don't do it for me I'm afraid. I think it was working in Mothercare that put me off Lizz. Do you have any old catalogues in your branch? I can reel off the features of any pushchairs from 1990 if you want me to do that as an alternative to watching paint dry....Mainly use my Huack for day to day but sometimes still use the M&P. Lo is loving her reins though - are they a bad thing?

Wilkie how's the d&v? All gone? I had a rude awakening this morning as I dipped my fingers in lo's poo becuase of her ridiculous wriggling.
Have you been invited to the bzzagents appletiser campaign btw? Got my stuff today.

Eah / anyone else with long haired daughters - can you recommend a good hairbrush? Also, any handy tips for getting clips in hair. Can only do it in the 2 second window when she watches tellytubbies. How can you actually tie their hair back whilst running behind them.

2H where are you? You got my email yet? Need to give you my mob number. We're off on Saturday!

Yeah - just realised, I'm on holiday. Oh, and dh just brought me a glass of red wine. Marvellous!

SmoothandWilkie · 12/06/2008 19:17

Shimmer - I mean to say, if you are going platinum with your engagement ring, this company here I found them very reasonable

Battery is about to die and I can't be arsed to get up....

theSuburbanDryad · 12/06/2008 19:22

RGee - Zac loves going on his reins too, i prefer them to the alternative which is him running off, potentially into the road! he just has no sense of danger...well, he is 1 i suppose!

Vino - i get the Rocks stuff from Tesco/Sainsbos, anywhere really! I went at 38 weeks with Z, so you might go any day now (unless you have planned c-s?!)

Lizzzombie · 12/06/2008 19:56

I am on that Buzz Agent thing too, and did all the surveys I could before I went on holiday and checked in everyday since we got back but there are no more for me to do. I want free things to test too!

DJ walks quite well on his reigns now I think they are definately safer than the alternative.

Rgee - no 1990 catalogues knocking around. Sorry! I've come to the understanding that actually its not that much of a nice company to work for. They really ara after their pound of flesh from their staff. Its not nice. Although, maybe thats just retail generally these days....

x

Reggiee · 12/06/2008 20:07

Well I won't bang on about the lovely bottles of appletiser that arrived at my door today then . They've just released new Fruitiser drinks which I have to taste. Nom nom. I love Appletiser. Think I probably ticked the 'right box' when it came to asking about drinking fizzy drinks / being healthy etc. Been with Bzz for a year and have had 5 things to tet - my fav has been this. Now pride of place in my kitchen but sucked in to the brand....

DH is playing Grand Thefy Auto 4 yawn, and I want him to go get me a cornetto out of the freezer and a top up of wine.

vinorouge · 12/06/2008 20:12

I'm just going to have a magnum from the freezer....mmmmmm

UD - no planned section for me, just see whathappens

found out today that a friend (who had her second dd last week) had an undiagnosed breech delivery that went fine but was in the bath at hosp afterrwards, thought there was a lot of blood then started having contractions again. It turned out she hadn't delivered all the placenta, they ripped her getting it out and she lost so much blood she needed a transfusion andhad to stay in 3 days. I hope that doesn't happen to me!

Reggiee · 12/06/2008 20:15

Scary story Vino. Was that at youre hospital? Bloody undiagnosesd breeches too....
DH tells me he can't possibly leave the room now as he's too busy shooting Columbians . Guess I have to go then. The Magnum pursuaded me.

looshkin · 12/06/2008 20:24

Quick dash across the thread -

2H happy birthday to ds1 - is it this weekend his bash - how did the dam building go?

wilks: headache clinic runs on a monday pm at crosland moor, or wed am in Holmfirth or if you register with my practice one of the docs is the doc who runs the clinic anyway so you could see him there - choices choices....

Sorry no time to post at the mo but trying to catch up on work and also trying to get dh sorted as going for an operation so as he has not been too well but ds ate fistfuls of sand on holiday which made us all laugh so keeping our spirits up.

loosh

ps I suffer pram envy as well - one of my firneds had a graco with built in thermometer.

wonderwomanakaeandh · 12/06/2008 20:57

rgee - I do Hatties hair either by
a) letting her sit on the worktop thing in bathroom and have my toothbrush

b) once shes eaten breakfast (but still in booster seat) I let her have a banana or orange (latter takes longer to eat so ideal for bunches!)

c) Do Ellies hair once I am doing hers Hattie stands in front of me waiting to have hers done

Loosh - glad ds enjoyed his hols and hope everything goes ok with dh

lizz - think its all retail, counter staff at my work are really pushed on sales targets (I used to love it when I was f/t hated it p/t)

Wilkie - I am not going to open your link as I would love a plantinum ring

Vino - that sounds horrific re your friend, I am so glad I had an extra 36 week scan with Ellie (due to dh heart problems) otherwise I suspect Ellie would have been an undiagnosed breech

Girls off to my Nans with my Mum tomorrow but its a nightmare sorting bags as my Mum likes spare clothes for them plus pj's for bathing etc it looks like they are going for 3 days

Having an issue with sil, its mil 60th birthday in october (few days after dh's bd) and it was mentioned lat year about sil/bil/neice/nephew and mil/fil and us going away for a weekend as mil doesnt want a party etc, now we have doen this in the past and pil's normally pay and we assumed from convos that they were paying for 1/2 nights in bournemouth. Sil emails last night to say they are booking butlins for 4 days (fri-mon) its £1100 (and no its nothalf term week either )for all of 'so shall we go halves' ffs I am not paying £600 for a weekend in butlins we are going to eurodisney in spetember for £550 for 4 days amyway emailed back saying that as we're going to disney few weeks before we wont be able to afford it plus issue with work as dh booked his birthday week off and I'd need the friday/monday off work and doubt I'd be able to get it (as got the week off in september) she emailed back saying 'well I'll talk to Dad when they get back from holiday (pil's in frace this week)' but could we pay £442 for us 4 - ffs no we cannot afford it (we dont all have 3 houses and our own very profitable business) I bet il's end up offering to pay for us but we wont have any spending money and to be honest with getting time off work etc its just going to be so much hassle. Told DH to deal with it - its his family

Sorry that was a rant wasnt it

wonderwomanakaeandh · 12/06/2008 20:58

ps Hattie has reins

pps where did you end up today Ud?

Reggiee · 12/06/2008 21:29

Agree Eah that it's up to your dh to sort. Ridiculous amount of money to spend to Butlins. You could go somewhere much nicer for that.

SmoothandWilkie · 12/06/2008 23:14

Reggiee - yes I have registered with the Appletiser campaign. I love the stuff esp as am tee-total so it is my tipple! My score is now 32 so am a tier 2 agent. Lizz, you will be a tier 1 agent for now so will get less campaigns. This one will be my third.

Vino - god your poor friend. How awful

Loosh - which is your practice?? Email me cos I need to move practices...!

Am watching Beaches - why do I do this to myself?? It is SO sad

wonderwomanakaeandh · 13/06/2008 09:04

Right I have made a decision and buying a steel blue zapp off another mumsnetter, we went to toyrs r us yesterday and I tried the presto and loved it and there is a 2nd hand one for sale in local paper but it appears to have the wrong telephone number as I just rang and they didnt know what I was talking about

Wilkiepedia · 13/06/2008 09:24

EAH - ring the paper, they may have a different contact number from the person that booked it

Reggiee - Appletiser has arrived, only five bottles - how skanky but loads of money off vouchers. Am gonna go try and persuade the steward to stock it then I can report a 'bzz'

katwith3kittens · 13/06/2008 09:34

Like the name Wilkie... it makes you sound .. highly intelligent

Sorry, I just dont get all this with prams. I just get one and it lasts till they are walking. Am I odd ?

Vino... can't believe you've only got 2 weeks left to go mind it could be any time now. Imagine... a tiny new born in your arms again, aaaahhhh.

Regiee, I sent 2H an email with my mobile on it earlier this week but I've not heard from her 2H where are you ? time is running out....

Off for the weekend myself so need to pack but will check back soon.

UD I just cant believe you just got your period back now. That is just so unfair. Mine came back by 6 or 7 months.

Chickens.... would love to have them and even thought about getting soe a couple of years ago, but then all this bierd flu stuff scared me, and we go away too much. The kids just have to make do with getting eggs from the farm, sometimes they are still warm !

wonderwomanakaeandh · 13/06/2008 09:38

I may try that Wilkie (am loving the new 'font of all knowledge' name)

Kat - have a lovely weekend away (I'm not sure when I started this pushchair malarky good thing is that it never actually costs 'money' as I only buy for same price as I am selling other ones for)

Its 9.38 and I am bored at work already, my boss hardly left me any work and cant get hold of her on phone and have emailed her blackberry (bet shes doesnt look though) counter is fully staffed so means I need to find something to do or waste my day on here

2Happy · 13/06/2008 12:14

Sorry sorry sorry, I'm here. Been busy with work and ds1's birthday.

kw3 - I got your email, RGee I didn't get yours.
My email is iain and beckys at plus dot com

2Happy · 13/06/2008 12:21

And crap mother of the year award goes to me. While I sat MNing, ds2 climbed onto a collapsible garden chair (which we brought in because we didn't have enough seats for ds1's birthday meal yesterday.... agh makes me sound like a yummy mummy, there was only us and grandparents, we just don't have many chairs in the house!)...where was I? Oh, so then ds2 tipped the chair over backwards which collapsed, trapping his foot within. Crap mother. I think he's ok! He's playing with a seed drill and singing...

Loosh, thankis very much for your pres + card. Is it the surgeon you were on about in Leeds? Do you want me to post ds's cup?

OP posts:
Wilkiepedia · 13/06/2008 12:48

2Happy - sounds familiar, can you share the crap mother award with me?? J was playing on his plastic chair this morning whilst I was watching across the room. He stood up and it toppled backwards and he went face first into the corner of the doorframe. He has a 5inch purple bruise from his temple down to his cheek.

Kat - I am with you about prams. What is all the fuss about?? Definitely DON'T get pram envy
