March 2007: Babies no longer: the road to Toddlerdom

1000 replies

MrLSG · 01/05/2008 22:50

MrsLSG suggested it, so her it is...

I've observed that calling Toby a baby isn't really accurate anymore, he (as one of the younger March babies - actually being born in April) is now toddlering (or is that staggering?), hence the title of the thread.

Sorry if Dad's aren't allowed around here: But Toby just loved joining in garden football with his big brother and dad earlier tonight.

Victorysausages4Obama · 06/11/2008 08:03

Hi Sponge how are you? (waves)

kiwibella · 06/11/2008 21:06

hi Sponge!

I officially hate bed-times!! Hubs is out... and I'm trying as hard as I can to follow Rosy's let-it-be theory... but I'm just so exhausted and find it so hard to keep up with this energetic bunny who has now been going for nearly 15 hours (counting her two hour sleep this afternoon). We have a routine before bed. Kate knows it is bed time... but she is running around, giggling, like and over-tired-thing.

AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH !!!!!

kiwibella · 06/11/2008 21:38

I left her to scream cry for ten minutes - the longest ten minutes of my life watching the clock - and she screamed cried so hard that she vomited!!

Hubs is in and has taken over. I will feel worse if he gets her off to sleep .

kittywise · 06/11/2008 22:35

kiwi, that's very frustrating for you, I hope she got off to sleep ok in the end.

Ronnie lays on top of his sleeping bag at bedtime, ready to be zipped up, it's great. Doesn't sleep during the day really, only occasionally, so I suppose it's swings and roundabouts

kittywise · 06/11/2008 22:36

btw three weeks without help now, I am relying heavily on redwine for support

Victorysausages4Obama · 07/11/2008 09:16

Oh dear hope you are coping Kitty, with your lovely brood

Kiwi - DS2 has got better now and when I put him to bed, I lay down next to him and he just goes to sleep immediately!! I can't believe he is so obedient LOL! Its very hrd when they are over tired though isn't it - DS2 often gets like that - its as though they have forgotten how to go to sleep

kiwibella · 07/11/2008 12:11

what good boys Ronnie and Monti are! I have huge respect for you taking care of your brood and your big house all by yourself!! I can't cope with my two and tiny two bed flat .

The end to last night was hubs came in and she was asleep in about ten minutes. I don't know what he does . I do think that either she doesn't know how to go to sleep or she gets herself beyond being tired and can't go to sleep. Hubs is out again tonight. She did sleep through until 6am though and went back until almost 8am after a feed.

kiwibella · 07/11/2008 12:13

kitty - what sort of sleeping bag does Ronnie use? I think that Kate wakes during the night because she is cold (after kicking her blankets off). We sleep with the heating on in our room but it doesn't seem to help her... and we cook .

kittywise · 07/11/2008 12:18

kiwi, he uses a heavy duty padded winter one now and a lighter weight one in the summer. I'll see if i can find a link for you.

kittywise · 07/11/2008 12:20

here

kiwibella · 07/11/2008 12:31

thanks Kitty... I'll try to look again later cos the site is down atm.

mygreatauntgriselda · 07/11/2008 15:30

DS2 won't war thoe sleepng bags (DS1 was the sam). So I use a snuggly fleece all in one over-pyjama type thing from Mothercare

I would find the link but have a D&V bug and not up to being enthusiastic today

Praying the DCs don't get it

mygreatauntgriselda · 07/11/2008 15:31

Oh its me BTW - the one who met you both at Kitty's house -

kittywise · 07/11/2008 16:14

is that you being stalked again great aunt?

kittywise · 07/11/2008 16:18

Oh God yes I have D&v too, also got a cold I've had for two weeks which won't shift and has now gone to my sinuses causing me horrendous pain. When i told (d)p about it today he said absolutely nothing. To which I said "did you actually here what I said"
Yes he says" I don't know what to say to you"
Twit

I said "how about, 'you poor thing, that's annoying, can you take anything for it? would you like a cup of tea? hope you're not suffering too much blah blah blah"

I'm so pissed off I'm going to start a moany thread about it!!!

kiwibella · 07/11/2008 16:25

what a twat! Just when we thought things were getting better for you Kitty . Off to check out your moany thread.

Hope you and the great Aunt are feeling better soon... and also praying that no-one else in your household gets the pleasure

kittywise · 07/11/2008 16:55

It was kiwi, it was then all the home help stuff went and its back to normal.

He has been a right tosser recently

mygreatauntgriselda · 07/11/2008 19:18

Kitty I have cold feet, sore thrait, achy limbs etc - soundslike we are both suffering frm same virus

also suffering from crap partners

I came from work last night.

Me: "I have been vomitng all day. I had to run out of a meeting to be sick and I have D too"

Him: "Did you go swimming agan today? It is winter you know" (implying that my ailment is self inflicted by me going swimming oo much)

Last week he accuse me of having "boyfiend"

I don't the time or energy to bonk my own DH, let alone anyone elses!!
(laughs bitterly)

spongecake · 07/11/2008 20:49

hi there, hope you are feeling better and the d and v has gone. am avoiding all my admin as feel my head will explode- keep finding out new bits of info which confuse me more and more. i used to like paperwork, now i hate it. think being sahm has affected me somewhat

still feel v v sick, hope it passes soon
ttfn, have a nice w/e

bethoo, if you are still on this thread how are you??

catweazle · 07/11/2008 21:54

Sorry everyone is sick.

You may remember I rang the HV back in July worried DD wasn't hearing well. She finally visited (at nursery) today. They said she asked some weird questions (like "has she regressed") and said they would refer her to the play-link worker (?)

The letter they left me mentions SALT. She's only 19 mo and it's her hearing I'm concerned about....

She was screaming when I picked her up. Asked for food and spat it out. Asked for BF, spat it out. Dashed to Dr and she has thrush I asked if I needed something too and Dr looked surprised then said oh yes, but has given me canesten. I was expecting daktarin.

mygreatauntgriselda · 07/11/2008 22:42

Cat are you still BFing her?

If so, are you in pain when/after you feed?

Poor DD - how on earth did they get to mention salt?

Sponge - have you got D&V too?

at the idea anyone could enjoy paperwork! My appraoch to paperwork is to bury my head in the sand!

LunarSea · 08/11/2008 09:08

kitty - did I see elsewhere that you were thinking of #7?

catweazle · 08/11/2008 10:24

Yes I'm still BF. I was really sore the day before and couldn't understand why so at least that solves that mystery.

SALT is speech and language therapy.. I don't think the problem is with her speech as she is coming out with more and more words (just not at nursery). But she still walks like a baby, not like other girls her age, so I still think it's her ears.
