March 2007: Babies no longer: the road to Toddlerdom

1000 replies

MrLSG · 01/05/2008 22:50

MrsLSG suggested it, so her it is...

I've observed that calling Toby a baby isn't really accurate anymore, he (as one of the younger March babies - actually being born in April) is now toddlering (or is that staggering?), hence the title of the thread.

Sorry if Dad's aren't allowed around here: But Toby just loved joining in garden football with his big brother and dad earlier tonight.

Hi everyone

Just got back from a week at the seaside with some MN families!

have I missed any goss'?

Bethoo I love the name Maia - I know a lovely Welsh muscian called Maia

SuperSillyus · 27/08/2008 19:01

good grief! I've been gone 10 days and there have been 11 posts! What has this thread come to!

I had a fabulous time, weather a bit bad but some good days. Hope everyone else is having nice holidays.

Bethoo Maia is a gorgeous name. Can't believe you are nearly due!

TheBlonde · 27/08/2008 20:10

I am still here, nothing positive to post I'm afraid

I think Diva is taking a break following a step-parenting thread

SuperSillyus · 28/08/2008 07:44

Hi the blonde, Since when did you have to post positive things? Hope all's well.

yes I got embroiled in that thread too. Mumsnet can be a funny old place.

(......Trots off to facebook )

kiwibella · 28/08/2008 12:16

Rosy and Foxy are both still confusing me with their similar names. I have to read the posts several times looking for clues . Welcome back to you both, glad that you had good holidays.

We have returned from a week camping on the Isle of Wight - it was brilliant and both girls loved it. It was difficult to contain Kate at times because we chose a site too close to the playground (it seemed like a good idea at the time). We went with two other families and the kids had a great time playing together.

bethoo · 28/08/2008 12:46

which step parenting thread was that? ihave seen a few nad read the one aboutdating someone if htey would not take on responsibility of your kiddies. they get quite heated and i sometimes find it is an excuse for certain people to just be dam right horrible! i think that is why i tend to not elaborate on alot of thread and stick to the ones i know, ante natal threads!

cheer up Diva.

sillybigsausage · 28/08/2008 20:18

Kiwi - I think we are both confused too - being the sillies that we are!

I'm the orange sausage!

The other silly is the one in Ireland

sillybigsausage · 28/08/2008 23:10

SuperSillyus · 30/08/2008 06:50

SuperSillyus · 31/08/2008 10:40

(sigh) so here I am back at my blog our thread...I'm all alone, with no one here to guide me...(humming along with donkey out of shrek)

sillysausage did you do anything nice? did you get any nice pressies?

sillybigsausage · 31/08/2008 10:59

Hi Silly [waves]

Thanks, that cake was yummy!!!!

I went out with a few friends and took DD - I was really excited about us Grrls going out together for the evening as we don't get much time together apart from the boys.

We had a lovely meal at Carluccio's and they had a great kids menu/colouring toys for DD. One friend also was kind nough to buy both me and DD a pressie, so she wouldn'y feel jealous!!

At 10.30pm, DD announced "can we go home now please, I am sooo tired?", which meant we both got home at a respectable time too

Didn't ge many pressies but the best one was a white/purple spotty "smalls" bag from Bombay Duck, to store my smalls in!

kiwibella · 31/08/2008 11:46

happy birthday Orange Silly ... the cake was devine Irish Silly and I love love love the bombay duck website Foxy... I'm sure your gift is totally gorgeous. What a lovely idea to take your dd... she must have felt so special out with the big girls.

I'm sick (cold - fluey) and worn out and want to cut back on bf... have started a thread here. Yesterday I counted 6 feeds and we had a dire night... the day before she had 9... today we are already at 3. She gets so distressed when I refuse - distraction only works for so long. Hubs wants to give her a bottle instead... am I being crazy saying that this is wrong???

One more sleep until it's back to school... well, Rosy is there... MissE isn't until Wednesday. I'm going to miss everyone but I'm really looking forward to normality returning.

sillybigsausage · 31/08/2008 20:55

Hi Kiwi - thanx

Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly.

I will have a look at your BF tthread (trots off)

spongecake · 31/08/2008 21:11

kiwibella · 01/09/2008 14:02

thanks for your input ladies... it is somewhat nice to know that we are all suffering similarly! Hopefully it will end sometime soon .

Good to see you back Sponge

Catsweazle has a beautiful piccie of her dd on her profile . She looks delightful.

Callieco · 01/09/2008 20:53

Hello all, it has got quiet on this thread hasn't it? Well, that was the summer then... Dear god alive, please don't let next year's be the same! As I type I'm listening to DS not sleeping upstairs. He's still being difficult about going to sleep some nights, but it always seems to happen after he's been in creche. Does anyone else find the same thing - I don't know if he gets overtired or excited or something. He had a restless night last night because he had a bit of a fever and was properly awake by 7.30 this morning - you'd think that would be enough to make him tired now. I think that may be the problem, that he's overtired but can't wind down. As I've been in work all day, it is pretty tiring. I just want to relax!

Hope all your little ones are ok. I'm going to have to go and see to him, it's getting strained now...

SuperSillyus · 02/09/2008 07:05

Callie what does he get to eat/drink in creche? Must admit, I find it hard to wind down at bed time at the moment after hectic days.

Kiwi how are you? I hope you get over that bug swiftly. It is no fun being a sick mummy.

I seem to have a trillion small things on my mind...I must make a list. I'm not getting enough sleep these days and I feel so tired.

The children were back to school yesterday. Ds2 took to pre-school brilliantly yesterday so I hope it continues like that.

Hasan is so cute today, his hair is sticking straight up. He has become wrecker extraordinaire recently. I really just can't keep up. He's forever putting things in the toilet, getting out the back to the muddy puddle, attacking plants, getting stuck in/under/on top of places.
My technique is to react as boringly as possible.

kittywise · 02/09/2008 22:11

Hellooooo, I'm back!!!

Not had time to read yet.

Hope you are all ok, we are all KNACKERED!!!!!!!

SuperSillyus · 02/09/2008 22:16

Welcome back Kitty!
(it won't take you long to catch up with the thread)

kiwibella · 03/09/2008 12:25

Welcome back Kitty... hope you all had a brilliant time.

Callie... I definitely notice when Kate is over-tired as that hyperactive behaviour kicks in . I hope that you are able to balance time with your lil man with time for you too!!

zzzzz Rosy... hope you have a quiet day today.

sillybigsausage · 05/09/2008 13:22

Hi Kitty!! [waves]

Hope your hols were fun!

kittywise · 05/09/2008 13:50

Hi!!!
"`fun" is perhaps not the adjective of choice!!!

After all i did spend 10 days with my insane and self centered mother .

It is clear that dp is well pissed off to have us all back and has been in a foul mood since we got back

SuperSillyus · 05/09/2008 14:08

oh dear Kitty

Sounds like you need a holiday for 'you' now!

But maybe your dp missed you and wants your attention?

It is chucking down here. I was hoping for a nice september since it rained all summer but no sign of that!

Ds2 is loving preschool. Everyone is happy and settled back to school. Hasan is very grumpy though.

catweazle · 05/09/2008 20:04

Welcome back Kitty

It's not even 8pm and it's pitch dark outside. I really don't like it when the evenings draw in- makes it feel more wintery than it is.

We have just had a third appt through for an MMR. I am really I have told the surgery twice that we aren't having it; I told the nurse as well when she offered it; and when we had the measles vax the Dr said he would notify our GP.

Now I've got to find the time (and remember) to phone the surgery to cancel an appt I didn't make or want. The really annoying thing is I can never get an appt when I need one.

...yes I know IABU but I'm just fed up with it. Do other surgeries do this?

DD has just said bath and duck in the same breath. (well it was more like "baa" with a mad nod, but it's a first )
