March 2007: Babies no longer: the road to Toddlerdom

1000 replies

MrLSG · 01/05/2008 22:50

MrsLSG suggested it, so her it is...

I've observed that calling Toby a baby isn't really accurate anymore, he (as one of the younger March babies - actually being born in April) is now toddlering (or is that staggering?), hence the title of the thread.

Sorry if Dad's aren't allowed around here: But Toby just loved joining in garden football with his big brother and dad earlier tonight.

rosy-i didnt realise your dh and ds1 didnt get on

catweazle-maybe you should have just gone to the music festival with dd

bethoo-why dont you just have a permanent break from him then,if you are happier?

bethoo · 10/08/2008 21:51

Diva - i wish i could but tbh i would be concerned at what he could do if he gets nasty as he is really not nice when he getsw upset! best to keep him sweet. i figure that once he loses interest in me he will lose interest in the kids and it will be easier. so more or less just waiting for that to happen.

SuperSillyus · 10/08/2008 21:51

Bethoo Hayden looks so gorgeous! And you too of course, with your lovely bump..I think you suit the dark hair.

Catweazle that sounds like a fun shopping trip day out

Diva dh supports ds1 financially but he has never been very good with him. They got on fine when we all lived together so I thought it would be fine but I've always put ds1 before dh and I don't think he understands or thinks it through even. Complicated!

spongecake · 10/08/2008 22:45

am in big rush as still packing for hols-having little rest ds just had his measles last wed, so am hoping he is ok as we will be away. bad timing on my part
no time to read but looking forward to big catch up when we get back

hope everyone is ok

SuperSillyus · 10/08/2008 22:52

Catweazle Hasan had an allergic reaction and it might have been egg so we are waiting for his allergy test before his mmr I think.

SuperSillyus · 10/08/2008 22:53

Sponge have a lovely holiday!

kiwibella · 11/08/2008 12:01

have a great break Sponge! Hope that you were able to remember to pack all those things that you need .

lol at your boys, Catsweazle!! I love the image of them huddling under the umbrella - suffering in the weather . It sounds like your dd enjoyed all the fun of the day.

I'm totally confuddled with SillyUs and SillySausage... I thought they were both Rosy... but who knows???? I haven't even been drinking... and, likewise, have a tip all around me.

Rosy... taking care of his siblings teaches your ds all sorts of skills!! And... one day, he will be fantastic husband / daddy material. I think that I have gone wrong by not expecting MissE to help with her sister... I always had the idea that it wasn't her responsibility cos she's a kid herself. Now that she is home during the hols... I would love some help and a break sometimes. She's a good girl really.

Thanks for the advice about toys. Piffle hope you have lots of snaps of Finn in his sparkly get-ups. Kate's favourite things to play with are the iron and the vacuum... so I'm seeing that she is quite normal. She also loves her books... and has discovered felt tip pens which she scribbles madly with. I like the farm, Diva. We looked at something similar recently so I think it might be a good idea for a christmas present for her. Scary thought, christmas presents!!

It's my dad's 60th birthday today... lots of tears down the phone this morning. He's had his sisters and father over for the last few days so he is really missing his family. I'm feeling guilty... but can't do anything about it.

SuperSillyus · 13/08/2008 08:10

check out my lovely problem dream thread here

divastrop · 14/08/2008 20:24

can anyone help here?

this thread is very quiet

things have been difficult since the older 2 came back.
hope all are enjoying the summer hols

sillybigsausage · 15/08/2008 18:14

Hi Grrls

sorry I haven't been on much but up to my eyes in it and work. Away next week so will catch up when I return [waves]

bethoo · 15/08/2008 23:12

hi there, when i watch this thread it is quiet but the minute i dont everyone chats for england
i feel very deluded this evening, just been on a thread about boys names as the subject was my ds name and 90% of the women hate it! bit sad really. must be hormones. ithink only the op and one other lady had anything nice to say!

catweazle · 16/08/2008 21:19

bethoo, 2 of my dcs names came up on the "unusual" thread and both were really slated. DD2's middle name comes up often and always causes much hilarity. Their problem. Personally I cringe at names like George and Mabel. Horses for courses. You like your DS's name- that's all that matters really.

Piffle · 16/08/2008 21:33

bloody manic here as well, dp away all weekend with bloody uni mates, otherwords huge piss up, he rang earlier and was incoherent at 7PM!!!!
Mad man, they never grow up these guys ever...
Finn is mad I'm updating my profile shortly... check him out LOL
Love to all as a dash off with the rare 10 mins I've kicked ds1 off the PC!

Piffle · 16/08/2008 22:07

i added some photos to facebook as mn profile was playing up
I'm Jane B if anyone wants to have a peek!

SuperSillyus · 17/08/2008 08:26

Bethoo that must be upsetting. Names are a very personal thing. I do enjoy the baby name threads sometimes they are funny but it would be so upsetting if they were slagging a name I loved!

Diva I hope you are feeling better.

I am heading to Donegal today for a couple of weeks. The children are gathering one tonne of toys to pack I think it is going to rain the whole time but oh well, I love it anyway

catweazle · 17/08/2008 10:07

Have a lovely time rosy

kiwibella · 18/08/2008 14:50

hope your family has a lovely break Rosy... also hoping that you haven't been affected by the weather!!

Piff... love your piccies of your dare-devil.

Bethoo, your ds's name has special significance for you and he really suits it. Have you got any ideas for your little girl?

Hope everyone is ok, staying dry, and sane .

Piffle · 18/08/2008 15:47

I like the name hayden. Not used lots and also knew a lovely boy called hayden when I was little.
Names are for you anyway! Sod the haters!

mel1981 · 18/08/2008 16:41

HI, ive hardly posted on here cause i find it a bit hard to keep up but bethoo my son is called hayden too and we love the name but I do get alot of people commenting on how 'unusual' it is but dont let it bother you hun...I dont try to be 'different' but the names i like/called my sons (my other sons name is Rhys) always get called unusual but its not like im naming them after places, cars etc- not that theres anything wrong with that b4 i offend anyone . Its your choice you picked it cause you like it so dont worry what other people think. x

bethoo · 18/08/2008 17:12

thanks ladies, was having a hormonal day i guess! at the end of the day at least he will be the only Hayden in his class!

Kiwi i have thought of Maia (prom My-a) for my future dd so may have to stay away from that on a naming thread incase it gets blasted!but still nto 100% decided yet!

only got 7 weeks to go so must come up with one!

kiwibella · 19/08/2008 13:56

Maia is beautiful name, Bethoo... it's so gentle. I know two very clever Maia's - one just got her doctorate, the other is six months old. They are both beautiful people.

We are off camping tomorrow - eek . Hubs has packed the car. The dining table is covered in clothes and the kitchen benches are full of supplies. I can't believe that I am packing sun-hats and woolen hats too. The girls have slept in their ready beds for the last two nights. Kate loves her Upsy Daisy bed!! I love not having to get up to her in the night cos she wanders around in the dark until she finds us.

Hope everyone is ok

bethoo · 21/08/2008 22:17

where is everyone?
told you, when i watch this thread no one chats!

kittywise · 22/08/2008 17:31

I bethoo, I'm here until tomorrow then we are off to the isle of Wight for 10 days!!!!!

maia is a lovely name Btw. I used to have a piano teacher called maia. it's a Welsh name isn't it?

Piffle · 22/08/2008 20:53

love Maia also
Ava nice too!
Have good holiday kitty!

bethoo · 22/08/2008 23:22
