March 2007: Babies no longer: the road to Toddlerdom

1000 replies

MrLSG · 01/05/2008 22:50

MrsLSG suggested it, so her it is...

I've observed that calling Toby a baby isn't really accurate anymore, he (as one of the younger March babies - actually being born in April) is now toddlering (or is that staggering?), hence the title of the thread.

Sorry if Dad's aren't allowed around here: But Toby just loved joining in garden football with his big brother and dad earlier tonight.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
kittywise · 05/09/2008 20:23

catweazle I just throw away the letter and forget about it , i think they tend to stab the babies en mass anyway don't they? So if you don't turn up it makes no difference iyswim?

Ronnie is suddenly saying loads of words, it's really strange, from nothing to repeating every noun you say practically. He can ask for: cheese juice, bread. Say 'up' 'this''there' 'yes' 'thankyou' ( polite boy!!). etc etc

Dd3 is also suddenly talking in sentences. She has been a very slower talker. Now she comes up and can hold a conversation, it's very odd, but nice though.

Ron got a horrible gash on his forehead this evening, found him with blood running down his face, so stuck a plaster on it and quizzed all children. He lso has a huge bruise. Dd2 is suspiciously upset about it but denies all knowledge

sillybigsausage · 06/09/2008 12:08

Hiya - sorry I have been absent - very busy here on Planet Sausage!!

DCs back atschool an tests the last week to stream put them into "groups"

Kitty - yes its sounds like you will be glad t get them all off to school each day to get some snity - is DP being an arse? Is he quite selfish? You'd think he'd b pleased to see you all again wouldn't you

Silly - is Hasan being clingy? How are things? I though of you this morning - Ryan air have flights to Belfast for £31! Is it raining?

Cat - we had the same prob - I must've got at least 5 letters about DD's MMR - I told the surgery she's had the Sep Vax and they just told us to ignore the letters - they get sent out en masse

Kitty/Cat- I said I'd visit you both/meet up didn't I - OMG completely forgot when we were in Camber- . We're supposed to be there this weekend but DH has to work and I decided the weather is too crap to be in a caravan in windy Camber on my own with 3 DCs!

SuperSillyus · 06/09/2008 14:37

Yes it's raining. Hasn't stopped since June, my garden is like a bog!

Hasan is a clingy so and so at the moment. sigh. I'm trying to cut down the breastfeeding but today he is like a limpet.

I'm rearranging my rooms with a gradual plan of putting Hasan in bed with ds2. Maybe he won't wake so much at night if he can't smell me.....

sillybigsausage · 06/09/2008 19:28

Silly - DS2 here is the same - demands to be carried all the time and when he wants milk he chases me about the place with his arms out, crying "Mum, Mum, Mum..."

Its very hard to get anything done at all - he has us all well trained

Its rainy here to BTW - a real grey day

SuperSillyus · 07/09/2008 07:48

I'm so tired and defeated, I want someone to take Hasan away for a week so I can sleep and bring him back weaned and sleeping through.....

kittywise · 07/09/2008 08:25

super and silly if it's any consolation Ron is the same. Sleeps through at night though but WHENEVER ever sit down he's on to me ( I don't often sit down )

kittywise · 07/09/2008 08:26

super, will Hassan take a bottle? Could you offer him a bottle every time he wants to suck?

SuperSillyus · 07/09/2008 08:35

Kitty, he won't take one. He'll drink from a sucky cup but not milk. He doesn't like it. He likes chocolate milk (probably tastes like mine )

I thought it was too late to get him on a bottle...
I'm so wrecked today but I suppose it'll get easier. I hope so.
I've had battles with the others over sleep and it is so tiring and requires much patience and I don't feel able
No choice though...he's being a monkey!

kittywise · 07/09/2008 08:37

big {{hugs}} super

sillybigsausage · 07/09/2008 11:57

Super - you could try putting a little bit of chocolate drink powder in the milk and reducing it a bit each day, until its just milk. That's what worked with my DD

sillybigsausage · 07/09/2008 11:58

BTW Super and Kitty same situation here with Chubs so massive sympathies

kiwibella · 07/09/2008 13:14

I have had the same thought about leaving home for a week Rosy . It's so appealing!! Kate won't give up feeding - won't, won't wont. When I don't oblige she has taken to pulling in to my shirts so is often exposing my underwear etc. I'm getting about two bottles in to her a day... her food intake is a bit erratic... but I don't think that is the best solution. I don't want a two year old wandering around with a bottle in her mouth and formula is so damn expensive. I'm hoping that she will give up.

Hubs is trying to get Kate to sleep and she is screaming down the house. She has got herself out of sync and slept until 9 this morning. The last two nights she has been up until atleast 11pm. Yesterday took her nap from 3-5pm... so we've decided that has to be drawn back. Hubs is the patient / stubborn one and won't be back until she is sleeping - I'm sure . I can't bear the noise.

Kitty - did you ever find out what happened to Ron's forehead?

kittywise · 07/09/2008 15:05

Kiwi, no I didn't but I pulled the plaster off today which caused much screaming as it took a lot of his hair with it

sillybigsausage · 07/09/2008 19:03

Ouch!!!

kiwibella · 07/09/2008 22:21

eeew... I felt ill while reading that Kitty!! I hope it heals ok.

kittywise · 07/09/2008 22:31

hey, this evening ds2 slashed his knee open on a shark's tooth that they collected whilst on hols, (it was on a dino dig type of thing).
This tooth is tiny but bloody hell is it razor sharp. He knelt on it and his knee is slashed open like a knife would go through a chicken fillet!!

I had a job and a half trying to stem the bleeding and keep the wound together, A scar for sure.

All I could think of was what on earth it would feel like to have a mouth full of those teeth bite you

kiwibella · 07/09/2008 23:24

Kitty!!!! The poor boy... is he proud of his wound? Imagine the stories you could tell with an injury from a shark's tooth .

SuperSillyus · 08/09/2008 10:06

Argh! sounds painfull!

So this morning ds2 starts talking about death (again) and he says he's going to go back to normal when he dies... and he said 'but I don't know what it's like in the water'
I said 'you now what it's like you've been in the water on holiday'
he said 'no the other water'

Anyhow, I'll definately try weaning Hasan onto chocolate milk!

kittywise · 08/09/2008 13:23

Hmm super that is odd. How old is he? Sounds like some past life memories to me. why don't you try and find out something more?
Ds2 is also constantly talking about death, or to be more accurate ways of dying.
This morning he asked if you could die through blood loss from an amputated limb this kind of conversation is a daily occurance.

good luck with the choc milk!

kiwi is kate any better today?

SuperSillyus · 08/09/2008 15:54

Kitty he's three nearly four. The children do say funny things sometimes but I can't be bothered chasing it up.

I'm having too much trouble coping with this life to be bothered with any past ones!

Am totally spaced out with sleep deprivation which is starting to result in an altered state of mind! (floats off...)

sillybigsausage · 08/09/2008 19:15

LOL Super!!! IKWYM!!!

Got about 4 hrs sleep last nigh thanks to Chubs

DD keeps talking about how she dreams about things and then they happen the next day ...

I have had this sometimes (only when it involves significant people though) - she must be a witch like her Ma!!!

Kitty - your poor DS2 - sounds excruciating

shanks313 · 08/09/2008 21:46

Hi everyone:0

Havent got a chance to read all the messages but hope you and little ones are all okay.

Deanna is doing great.Shes still sleeping through the night...has most of her teeth through..running everywhere..loves to dance and saying loads of words. Its like she suddenly has a word explosion.
Just come back from Butlins which she loved, she was up dancing and being chased by the boys lol.
Miley is really well.Shes almost 5 months already. She loves to laugh and tries to talk. She sleeps through too.Miley can roll fornt to back and back to front and is trying to crawl.
Myself...I havent been so good.Since Miley was born I was getting severe headaches and after countless trips to the doctors I was finally admitted to hospital for tests. They did a CT scan and it was clear.Im now under a physio as they seem to think its my neck muscles.Probsbly loosened by pregnancy and birth.
Its been very hard for me and my mum has had to help out alot as I have been too unwell to look after the kids.It all seems to be improving now though.
Well I think thats up to speed lol
