March 2007: Babies no longer: the road to Toddlerdom

1000 replies

MrLSG · 01/05/2008 22:50

MrsLSG suggested it, so her it is...

I've observed that calling Toby a baby isn't really accurate anymore, he (as one of the younger March babies - actually being born in April) is now toddlering (or is that staggering?), hence the title of the thread.

Sorry if Dad's aren't allowed around here: But Toby just loved joining in garden football with his big brother and dad earlier tonight.

kiwi finn does same as Kate, gets a new nappy and points then promptly runs aways... fast
Have started thread here for help ferless kids

kiwi how are things with hubby now? I've packed ds1 off to Ldn for the week staying with my brother and WORKING in web design near Spitalfields Market for my brothers dot.com friends!! Grown up FGS! And earning!

Get your MissE to hunt him down

Kitty - slow and steady wins the race, dd and my brother are fine examples of that adage...

No time anymore to bloody spend ages on mn
I miss it so much!

kiwibella · 06/08/2008 17:19

Piffle... it's very tempting to check out your ds... hubs works close-by!! He sounds like such a sensible lad.

Things are ok with hubs... I don't pay any attention to the finances so long as he provides me with grocery money and anything that I need for the girls. It's a bit tense having to ask all the time atm for MissE and day-to-day holiday expenses... he agrees to my suggestions but doesn't act on anything so I just pretend not to care anymore.

Kitty... Kate is a February baby... wasn't Ronnie one of the last born? I think Kate has taken off lately. I don't seem to have a baby-baby anymore.

sillybigsausage · 06/08/2008 19:32

Kiwi did you mean my kissing DS?

I am a silly sausage

Rosy is just silly!

Hi by the way [waves] - how are your gorgeous girls

SuperSillyus · 07/08/2008 05:56

I'm super silly

kittywise · 07/08/2008 10:02

kiwi glad things are ticking over re dh

Yes Ronnie is second youngest, 3 days older than Bertie, 16 months tomorrow.
Having accused him of being 'slow', this morning he'd managed to get out of his cot and was heard by ds1 banging on his bedroom door to get out .

He is also absolutely OBSESSED with the teletubbies. He carries piles of books around with him and is always coming up to people book in hand saying "this?"

My 'baby' ( ds1) is 10 today shit who stole my time?
I'm taking him to the beach, just me and him, hope it doesn't rain too much!

SuperSillyus · 07/08/2008 10:13

Kitty happy birthday to your ds1, hope you have a nice day.

SuperSillyus · 07/08/2008 10:28

Hasan just dropped my mobile into the toilet!

SuperSillyus · 07/08/2008 10:35

dd had just done her wee, oh well it could have been worse....

divastrop · 07/08/2008 11:56

kitty-happy birthday to your ds1

its scary when they turn 10

i have got rid of all the baby toys today.Elsie is a proper toddler now

kiwibella · 07/08/2008 14:50

happy birthday to ds, Kitty... I am sure the two of you will have had a lovely time together.

We got caught in the rain twice today... grrr. Despite that, Kate got soaked through by sitting in a puddle. Of course I didn't have a change of clothes and every now and then she would realise that her trousers were wet as she walked and she was disgusted - haha .

Instead of rescuing my daughter sitting in a puddle, I took a video clip which I will post on youtube later.

Diva... I can't sort out the toys just yet. I'm such a sentimental sap. Kate really needs some challenging toys. I'm bored with them. I would love to know the sorts of toys that your littlies play with.

kiwibella · 07/08/2008 14:51

you are a super silly sausage, SillyUs... I was bamboozled for a wee while .

Is your phone ok???

catweazle · 07/08/2008 20:27

bella that's funny

As for toys, mine is suddenly into dolls, soft toys and prams. Other than that she has a wooden push-along with snapping crocs; a FP Amazing Animals Ark and a FP Amazing Animals Choo-Choo. She has got other toys but they are the favourites ATM.

We are thinking of getting her a slide. She keeps setting up the lid of her toybox against things and "sliding" down it, chuckling away to herself. It's funny when they suddenly turn into little people.

spongecake · 07/08/2008 20:51

diva, i have twice put baby toys in pile for putting away and ds instantly plays with them for ages. am toying (haha) with idea of getting him some older toys, but its hard deciding what. he is happy enough kicking a football about and reading his books. any luck with the house hunting?

rosy, down the loo! urgggh... does it work?

we are away on holiday in a few days,so am about to write a list- i love lists. am went hol shopping only to discover had left card at home, so had to abandon purchases at the till. so embarressing. and too late to shop online. and want to have fun day tomorrow, not drive to towns and wander round shops.

ds had measles jab and am waiting for a reaction, we will be away if/when he gets one. am assuming calpol will be enough? any tips?

divastrop · 07/08/2008 21:55

bella-thisis one of Elsies favourites, although it was dd2's xmas present.apart from that she plays with dd2's garage and cars, and the baby dolls.she also likes getting the stacking cups and seeing how many random things she can fit in each one.

divastrop · 07/08/2008 21:57

sponge-no luck as yet with the house hunting.i think i am just going to ahve to sit back and wait.

Piffle · 08/08/2008 15:56

Finn loves dds toy kitchen, anything with wheels, esp tractors
he also loves shoes
Know any career options that involves boys wearing their mothers sprakly birkenstocks or their sisters bejewelled Lelli Kellys while riding a tractor?
No I thought not...

spongecake · 08/08/2008 20:48

piffle, my ds likes a particular handbag of mine which i never use as its italian and just looks so wrong on me he hangs it over his shoulder and drags it about.

kittywise · 08/08/2008 22:34

sponge Ron likes nothing better ( well after teletubbies) then to sweep the kitchen with the broom and dustpan and brush ( good training eh?)

SuperSillyus · 09/08/2008 09:12

Hasan likes playing with the floor brush too.
He's in my bad books today, I am sick of the constant breastfeeding...doing my head in! His interest is not gradually decreasing

Last night he wouldn't settle for ages and ds1 was the one that finally managed to get him off to sleep at 2am...I feel guilty that ds1 takes the 'daddy' role while dh isn't here.

Very tired and grumpy today....

It's chucking down and I have a line of washing out (grumph)

Callieco · 09/08/2008 20:11

Rosy, bu think what an attractive future partner your ds1 will make someone when they realise his fantastic skills with babies .

sillybigsausage · 09/08/2008 22:08

Sponge DS2 had his measles jab on Weds.

If your LO gets a temperature, give Calpol and infant nurofen if neccessary. He may get a rash in 7-14 days (DD did but no other side effects)

My DS2 seems absolutely fine, despit the jab! How is yours?

Hi everyone else - trying to keep up and failing miserabley

Th house is a tip and I'm tipsy

divastrop · 09/08/2008 22:50

rosy-dont feel guilty.your dh should maybe feel guilty but not you.no,seriously though,i know of some children who are practically brought up by their older siblings.having them help out is good and fine!

its been like jeremy kyle live out the back this evening with the neighbour having thrown her dp out ,police around to get his stuff for him ,curtains twitching(mine)etc.

i always think other couples are perfectly happy and never argue for some reason, then im shocked when i discover they do.

SuperSillyus · 10/08/2008 09:13

Callie he is a genius with the little ones and he will make a fabulous dad if he hasn't been put off kids for life!

Diva dh doesn't feel guilty but I'm pretty sure he is jealous! But not enough to be around more And the relationship between them has got worse over the years and now they are not talking to each other.
lol at you twitching your curtains

Sillysausage I'm really glad you were tipsy instead of tidying!

Hasan has started making eyes at me..he is so charming. So he didn't stay in my bad books for long....still don't know how I am going to get him off the boob....

catweazle · 10/08/2008 20:09

rosy and sponge did yours have the single measles or the MMR?

We went to a music festival yesterday. Weather forecast was for torrential rain and that's what we got. DH and DS2 &3 didn't take a coat

We could only find one of our hundreds of umbrellas, so they huddled and shivered under that until we had to go off to Tescos and buy 3 coats (and me some wellies). More expense I could have done without. DH would have just been in a t shirt if I hadn't picked up his jumper on the way out.

We took a little pop up tent for DD but she kept wanting to go in and out and fell over in the mud. Fortunately tracked down an all in one muddypuddles suit in an outdoor shop. She looked like the michelin man and couldn't move (coat underneath) but at least she was warm and dry.

bethoo · 10/08/2008 21:24

Piffle - your Finn amazes me.
i can tell when ds is having a poo as he jsut squats then wanders around with a nasty niff! will start to potty train when he can communicate it to me.
have put an up to date pic of little man on my profile as the others he had little hair and no teeth!
Eids - sorry about your nan.

Diva - having a break from dp at the mo. am much happier without him at the mo!
