March 2007: Babies no longer: the road to Toddlerdom

MrLSG · 01/05/2008 22:50

MrsLSG suggested it, so her it is...

I've observed that calling Toby a baby isn't really accurate anymore, he (as one of the younger March babies - actually being born in April) is now toddlering (or is that staggering?), hence the title of the thread.

Sorry if Dad's aren't allowed around here: But Toby just loved joining in garden football with his big brother and dad earlier tonight.

Bella my DD hits her brothers, and we have a 15 and 17 year gap She also attacks the cats. She was laughing and pulling fur on the oldest cat (10 yo) and the poor cat was miaowing, making her laugh even more. I told her 3 times to leave the cat alone. Then the cat had enough, put both front feet out and bit at the same time. There was hardly a mark on DD so the cat was obviously just warning but DD screamed and screamed. She hasn't been back to the cat since.

Mine has never slept through I don't like to cut down her feeds though because I don't see her all day so it seems a bit mean to push her out at night too. Can only sympathise. Don't think I'd offer a bottle though- bit old to be starting that.

It's a PITA about work but not unexpected.

kittywise · 21/07/2008 21:05

Bella, Ron doesn't hit, he screams though and at such a pitch and volume as to make ears bleed and force anyone within earshot to run away at warp speed whilst clutching the sides of their heads

topdolly · 23/07/2008 20:02

topdolly · 25/07/2008 18:29

Hi Diva Hope you are OK

How everyone else [waves back to Sponge]

divastrop · 25/07/2008 21:10

had some issues with dh,was a bit but i think things are sorted now.

i took the 4 dc to morecambe today which was fun,Elsie loved the beach(they didnt have sand there last time i went).got back late though as the trains to lancaster were cancelled due to 'fatatlties'.

the sinking feeling i got when coming back into town makde me realise i really really do need to get away from here permanently.

spongecake · 25/07/2008 22:17

hi diva, glad things better for you. your day out sounds lovely was elsie ok in the sand? am worried ds will eat it and i will be yet again amateur mum on the beach with a baby like a doughnut on the beach- covered in sun lotion and feckin sand

SuperSillyus · 26/07/2008 08:06

Oh dear Diva did someone get killed on the track?
I really hope you find the right place for yourself and the family soon. It will do you the world of good to just change something that makes you unhappy. I know it isn't easy to move but it will be worth it.

Sponge I have taken all my babies to the beach and they've eaten sand and got sand in there eyes but it's all worth it! I think (hope) that they don't tend to eat the sand at this age. I'm really looking forward to taking Hasan to Donegal this year.

Callieco · 26/07/2008 21:49

Hello from France!!!!

am trying to type zith french keyboard so may get mistakes I cant be bothered to correct. Sponge, I took DS to the beach today for the second time; its quite gravelly sand and he was shovelling it in his mouth at every opportunity - as there were big stones in it, i got a bit worried; but he hasn't suffered yet;

Its lovely here: The house we are staying in is owned by a family with three young boys (currently in our house ) so there are lots of toys for DS and a nice big garden; plus itùs just 30 secs walk from an enclosed lagoon type beach for children. We're both a bit knackered after the massive house clean but picking up now. We met up with some friends who are in the area earlier this eve for dinner; which was lovely. Think DP has fallen asleep next to DS's cot trying to get him to sleep .

Hope you are all having nice days.

Is TopDolly Dolly? Hello if so, how's things? I too am confused Diva! And is catweazle evenhope or someone new?

SuperSillyus · 27/07/2008 09:20

Callie Topdolly is being very foxy by changing her name one trillion times.
You are right about Catweazle. And I'm Rosylily of course maybe my new name gives me away

Sounds like a lovely holiday you are having!

I have an old friend visiting today and I haven't seen her for a couple of years...must get off here and tidy up!!!!

SuperSillyus · 27/07/2008 09:33

Unless I am also confused which is quite likely too

divastrop · 27/07/2008 12:07

far too confusing...i thought topdolly was foxy first but now i dont know

i dont know what happened on the track,i was going to have a look on the news but i didnt get on the pc yesterday.

dd1 camr back from brownie camp and has been very down, she didnt want to come back.she doesnt want to go back to school as she has no friends anymore, and she doesnt want to play out because of all the chavvy kids.

itsmyparty · 27/07/2008 19:09

Diva

You were correct and still are

I have a good reason for doing this but will soon calm down and settle

kittywise · 27/07/2008 20:28

Are you hiding then?

itsmyparty · 27/07/2008 20:40

Kitty -kind of...

Very stupidly told someone my name

spongecake · 27/07/2008 21:12

now am totally confused
hope everyone had a nice w/e.. clearly been to nice to sit on mn.
am about to sit and do admin and am procrastinating like mad
diva, your poor dd, at least its the summer hols and she can relax. i didn't really see friends during the holidays when i was young and what with no mobiles, email etc back then it seemed normal- everyone had hols, hobbies, parents who didn;t drive kids about on play dates. no one came to mine anyway as my dad was a nightmare. have you found anywhere new to live?

might change my name

itsmyparty · 27/07/2008 21:34

Sponge - its me!!!

We never had friends over either as my Mum was a tad wierd and didn't like visitors

I think all this ferrying kids round to endless after school activities and play dates stuff is a fairly recent thing

When we were kids my Mum used tosay "you re supposed to be bored during the holidays" or "if you are bored go and read a book - or you can do the washing up maybe?"

catweazle · 27/07/2008 21:50

callie I was trying not to link both names on a post because a RL friend contacted me to say she'd accidentally discovered my MN name.

Been stuck indoors today because DS1 wanted picking up from work at 3pm. Not at all happy, as 5 days of being stuck in an office to follow.

DD is driving us mad. She goes straight to the TV every day; runs off with the Sky card; turns the amp on and off; turns on the DVD player. We've tried all sorts of barricades- she just moves them and/ or climbs over them.

She whines to get up on my lap all the time but it's only so she can reach the stuff on my desk/ on the windowsill which are the only places left in the room she can't reach herself. When I put her down she just screams. Is she too little to play with her toys on her own for 5 minutes?
