March 2007: Babies no longer: the road to Toddlerdom

1000 replies

MrLSG · 01/05/2008 22:50

MrsLSG suggested it, so her it is...

I've observed that calling Toby a baby isn't really accurate anymore, he (as one of the younger March babies - actually being born in April) is now toddlering (or is that staggering?), hence the title of the thread.

Sorry if Dad's aren't allowed around here: But Toby just loved joining in garden football with his big brother and dad earlier tonight.

Kitty what retro outfit are you wearing tonight then?

I never go out so have to enjoy parties by proxy when other people go....

We are coming down on 16 August for a week (can't wait!!!) - with several other MN families

You could come down to us if you like, or us to you, or meet somewhere. I'm easy - I'll just be glad to be on hols

spongecake · 19/07/2008 21:18

kitty, hope you have a great time

am slightly lost with the name changes btw, its so confusing!
am bf but am trying not to really- just bedtime at mo, unless i sit down by accident
ds is on anti biotics AGAIN for his tonsils and has been on them for 3 days. today he had really bad runs, sick and am really scared he has that bug again, i thought it was the antibiotics last time but it wasn't.

all this talk of meet ups and holidays. don;t think anyone is near me and if i don;t book a hol soon we will be vacationing with mil.nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo- my aura will be visible to all kitty

talking of spooky figures, i kept seeing a dark outline of a man out of the corner of my eye about a week ago in our lounge from the garden, and it lasted a few days. seems to have stopped now.

divastrop · 19/07/2008 21:32

sponge-where are you?i can never remember.

i was going to post more earlier but i was eating a galaxy ice cream and got fed up typing with one hand.

its weird reading about these still bf babies-i couldnt imagine still feeding Elsie a bottle, even though ds1+2 still had a bottle and a cuddle untill about the age of 2 before going to bed.

dd1 has gone off to brownie camp for a week.at least i can phone her when shes at my mums, plus i know shes ok there and getting spoilt rotten.i have no idea if shes ok where she is now.

i have been looking at house exchange sites.dh told me in no uncertain terms that he doesnt want his dds growing up round here as all they will end up pregnant at 12.he is right,i know,i just fear change.

kitty-feck,no,i am waaayyyy too scared to try talking to it.even though i feel its 'good' i am still s**t scared.

divastrop · 19/07/2008 21:33

oh,forgot to add kitty-hope you cop off have a lovely time tonight.

spongecake · 19/07/2008 22:17

where are you thinking of diva? come down south?

spongecake · 19/07/2008 22:18

sorry diva am in cotswolds. is your dh over reacting re teenage pony?

spongecake · 19/07/2008 22:20

prgny!

divastrop · 19/07/2008 22:24

lol@ 'pony' .no,this town has something like the 9th highest teen pregnancy rate in the uk which is pretty bad for a town with a population of 60,000.

ds1 goes to senior school in 2009 and all the senior schools here are s**t.

gingerminger · 19/07/2008 22:45

Diva are you on Locata exchange with your HA? If so, you could come down here

Cat - are you around vbetween 16th and 22nd nearCamber? We could have a MN meet up? Maybe mix and match with some of my other thread who will also be there?

It would be great to see you if you are so close by!!!!

gingerminger · 19/07/2008 22:47

Diva - IKWYM - or will do. DS1 will have his first school trip next year

How many nights is your DD away for?

He is already exited about it....

Hang on tight for another name change....

gingerminger · 19/07/2008 22:48

"excited"

kittywise · 20/07/2008 07:35

ohhhhh hung over

ohhhhh 4 hours 'sleep'

ohhhhh VERY puffy eyes

good fun though, none chatted me up but I had a good natter and a good dance

SuperSillyus · 20/07/2008 09:11

Well Done Kitty! It's a big accomplishment to get out for a night, I'm impressed, (it's more than I can manage yet.)

Though I feel hungover too after sitting in and having half a glass of wine

catweazle · 20/07/2008 11:18

ginger yes should be around that week as DH is off and we can't go away. Would be great to meet up

divastrop · 20/07/2008 11:30

kitty-well done

i get hungover even thinking about drinking the 'wine' thats been in the fride sionce my birthday

foxy-whats locata exchange??
i dont think we could afford to live in your area, unless there are 100's of companies crying out for IT specialists and offering 50k+ a year.or i could get some high paid job which involves only faffing about in a disorganised manner, not keeping still for more than 3 minutes ,and starting arguments with random people

kiwibella · 20/07/2008 15:15

sponge... hope you got some painting done after your book-work .

Yay Kitty... there's something about suffering after a great night that make it more manageable. Hope that you found a suitable outfit and captured the night with lots of piccies.

Diva... spooky how timely this vision is? If you are thinking about secondary school, it is a good time to consider moving. I am sure that you will find somewhere perfect for your family to grow up. As for IT jobs... they are meant to be well-paying?? Will your dh give up his gaming?

The convos about bf are timely because I have been wondering if it will ever end. We were tempted by three nights of sleeping through early last week but it didn't last - back to three hourly last night. It's a killer. I'm refusing breast as much as possible by trying to distract with food or a bottle. I don't know what is best to do though??? I don't know why she suddenly started to sleep through but what has changed to make her stop?? It's all just a mystery.

Catsw... I saw your status on FB... after all the mucking around at your work, you are being made surplus? Shame .

Rosy... hope that you enjoyed your evening with your little man and that you settled on something to do just for you. Enjoy your week.

ginger - pendant???

kiwibella · 20/07/2008 15:20

any advice for this one??? My lo is hitting my big dd... remember there is an 11 year difference and it looks funny when the big one complains that the little one is hitting her. But... Kate does this deliberately. She will even chase after MissE with her arm raised to slap her sister.

Yep it's comical... and I'm keeping a straight face to scold her with a curt 'no'. So, how can I stop her doing this / encourage her to love her sister????

divastrop · 20/07/2008 15:30

bella-no advice, but Elsie does the same to dd2 and ds2.of course,ds2 knows not to hit her back, but with dd2 they just end up fighting.its difficult not to laugh when they hit the much older ones, though.

kiwibella · 20/07/2008 15:40

strangely Diva, I'm relieved to hear that it's not just my dd . Maybe she will grow out of it? Maybe I should let the big one turn around and slap her back? Maybe not .

theinsider · 20/07/2008 15:51

bump

topdolly · 20/07/2008 21:05

Chubs doesnt thump, but is biting people.

DD just screams, Harpie like at people

divastrop · 20/07/2008 21:17

right-can everyone just go back to their original names or at least a derivative of their original names-this is too confusing!

foxy-what is locata exchange?

topdolly · 20/07/2008 21:52

Sorry -'Tis all my fault Diva!!!

I know what Locata is - its a system for HA tenants to "apply" for HA properties which are available

Because you hadn't heard of it, I suspect it doesn't operate in your area

It may just be a few London boroughs?

divastrop · 20/07/2008 22:02

just googled it and its only west london.

i started a thread yesterday if anyone wants to bump help a thread
