Well done POTC - you are so fab at thread titles!

NorthernLurker · 25/04/2008 14:25

aaaaaaargh!

I am the worst lurker ever aren't I!

weeonion · 25/04/2008 14:29

where is our very own NL (fame by association there!!!) mentionned??

NorthernLurker · 25/04/2008 14:32

In the talk round up

How is the work situation wo?

cazboldy · 25/04/2008 14:33

about the school run dresses WO.........

PillockOfTheCommunity · 25/04/2008 15:16

From the Talk Roundup -

Wtf is a "school run dress"? demanded TooTicky, who clearly doesn't ask herself "What Would Grace Kelly Do?" before doing the school drop-off, "Do you have nothing more important to think about?" NorthernLurker was not to be deterred "There's a mum at our school who has a fab belted raincoat and very glossy lipstick," and "the rest of us know each others wardrobes off by heart." But Cappuccino has the measure of school-gate politics, "If you wear make-up for the school run and let it be known that you bake your own biscuits everyone thinks you have life sorted."

Provisionaly booked for 9th May at 3.30I will be a Mrs and have a brand new surname
I feel very grown up and also abit sniggery
Dp and I always snigger at important grown up events
I will let that pass POTC
Observe my impeccably typed [albeit badly spelled]post!

Pesha · 25/04/2008 16:00

Just another quick post without catch up or personals to correct my not-so-clever-after-all post earlier where I put pedant's instead of pedants'. Obviously there are lots of pedants on MN, not just 1!

Off to school fair in a bit, joy of joy . Still this is the first year its not been pissing it down so thats a small plus, 300 kids crammed into a much too small hall peed off after spending an hour queueing for face painting is NOT much fun!

Back later for proper post

Doobydoo · 25/04/2008 16:01

Pesha
Nice pushchair luce.
Off to folding washing[great]

liath · 25/04/2008 17:23

Congratulations Dooby!

Hope all is ok with wee collecting SPB, how did it go at the GP?

Welcome back to sunny Scotland, GMM.

Was picking dd up from nursery today and another mum said, "Oh, is that your daughter, she's so beautiful". So I smirked and nodded then she said "Is she your biological daughter?" Is that not a bit cheeky??? I know the kids don't look much like me as DH is half chinese but it's still an odd thing to ask (not to mention the implication that I'm far too ugly to have produced a specimen like dd...).

NorthernLurker · 25/04/2008 17:24

Liath - that is very rude!

runnyhabbit · 25/04/2008 17:29

liath - what a bloody cheek! (I'm using the work bloody quite a lot today) don't know if I'm more or

dooby - such fab news about your wedding

Well, J birth certificate gone, and should be there before 1pm on Monday. Now just have to wait until the passport office contact me. Am a little bit calmer now, though it didn't help that it absolutley pissed down while we were out, which meant I came home to a line full of soaked laundry.

Woe betide dh if he starts having a go at me about the passport....seeing he has only paid for done very little organising.

liath · 25/04/2008 17:30

It was a bit, erm blunt NL - she asked me twice - after I'd explained dd is quarter chinese the wretched woman said again "But is she your biological daughter?". In her defence English isn't her first language but even so...

NorthernLurker · 25/04/2008 17:32

How awkward for you!

mammyjo · 25/04/2008 17:33

How rude Liath! Some people have no communication/people skills whatsoever.

Glad you had a good time GMM!

Saw the GP this morning and he said I do need my gallbladder removed - great. I knew he would say that really as it is not settling, but didn't actually want to hear it iyswim. He has referred me to the surgeons, but I have made a private appointment with the same person for next Wednesday to get things moving a bit. I know it costs money, but I am in pain and really need to move up the list a bit. I will still have to wait on the NHS for the actual operation, but I hope that this will save me waiting weeks for the initial consultation at least.
It has made me realise how unfair the system is. Basically if you can afford to pay then you can be treated as quick as you like. I knew that really, but have never had to use it iykwim. Hey ho.

mammyjo · 25/04/2008 17:36

Congratulations Dooby!

Runny, glad you got the certificate off safely. Hopefully they will sort it quickly for you

Liath, I can understand when you say English wasn't the mum's first language, but even so, she didn't need to labour the point!

NorthernLurker · 25/04/2008 17:37

Mammyjo - fillyjonk's thread about her son has opened my eyes to how long you have to wit in Wales compared to England - it is an absolute disgrace - and in your shoes I would go private too!

mammyjo · 25/04/2008 17:38

I wish I could afford to fund the op privately, but that is well out of my reach! At least this appointment will cut my wait somewhat!

liath · 25/04/2008 17:39

Mammyjo, IKWYM - it's the logical thing to get your gallbladder out but always daunting facing surgery. It should be done by keyhole shouldn't it, at least?

runnyhabbit · 25/04/2008 17:41

oh mj x
(just been googling it, as I have no idea about these sorts of things
please, let me know if I can be of any help (now, or ewhen you have the op)

mammyjo · 25/04/2008 17:45

Hopefully keyhole, yes, but GP said they will warn you it could be laparoscopy thing if there are any difficulties. Scares me tbh, but I do know that they way things are, I am really struggling day to day so can't carry on indefinitely either!
Thanks Runny xx

CaptainDippy · 25/04/2008 18:01

Glad you've got some answers anyway, MJ - hope appt goes well and op date is soon. xx

Congratulations on your newly found fame NL

Oooooh, you have got a date Dooby - not sure whether I was more about your getting married in a couple of week or your peccably typed post!!

DD are knackered - early one tonight, I hope!

runnyhabbit · 25/04/2008 18:08

J fell asleep in the car on way back from the shops, at 3.30pm, was still asleep when we got into the house, and is still asleep now Believe me I've tried waking him, but he's not having any of it....

Guess its going to be a late one.......

Its days like this that I think he needs full time school

CaptainDippy · 25/04/2008 18:11

Goodness!

NorthernLurker · 25/04/2008 18:13

No SPB since much earlier? Hope she's ok and poor little T.
