BTKsmum · 23/07/2008 22:04

Hola girls

Brownie well done for suviving camp

Chacha thinking of you, not long to go now!

Weather here is great B's learnt to swim and we've only been here 3 full days and T has decided taht this might be the right time to potty train - eek!

Love to all, speak to you when I get back, will check in at the end of the month to see if I'm right about Chachas girl

feetheart · 24/07/2008 18:51

What is it with our babies and the potty training thing??? Why on earth can't they fit into their parents plans like good children
ChaCha - be prepared for Z to refuse nappies any day now
Yes, looking for stories from Islam. I will post on multi-cultural bit as well as I would like stories from Judaism(!), Hinduism, Sikhism, etc too

BB - glad you enjoyed camp. T now on waiting list for Rainbows and not being very patient about it!

Rodeo - have you found a campsite?
We are off to a HUGE family gathering in Hampshire for one of my Dad's cousin's 80th birthday. REALLY need to pin my Auntie down soon and get a family tree worked out so I can answer T's questions! Hope weather stays like this as apparently the party is at his daughter's house which has a swimming pool and acres of land/woods/etc We have been told to bring swimming costumes so I need to do a quick turn around as we are out with friends to Hitchin Pool tomorrow (2 indoor and 2 outdoor pools plus ENORMOUS sandpit)

Hope everyone is enjoying the weather.

ChaCha · 26/07/2008 18:34

Just bumping our thread in case it gets totally lost!!!!! Hope everyone is well, Yes Rodeo - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to get through...not long huh? LOL. Am not doing good in the heat though, not sure how I survived 7 years of living in North Africa....

Rodeo · 26/07/2008 22:17

Hi just a quick check-in, off happy camping first thing so need to be in bed! Going to Nicholaston Farm in the Gower, can't wait!
Also can't wait til Thursday Chacha!!

Bye for now, will be back Weds in time for the big day! Night x x x

Rodeo · 26/07/2008 22:19

Beks, glad you're having lovely time too, you deserve it Well done to Ben, the little swimmer x x x

novadandypowder · 28/07/2008 19:18

Hi there, sorry to be a stranger but I haven't really felt like posting much. Can't explain why, just needed a bit of time out I suppose .

Everyone doing well, had a lovely weekend at the beach house, both of them playing in the sea. Went to Littlehampton and they both got their first taste of a rollercoaster. It was a very small one, but both of them cried the first time it sped up and went down the dip, then noo decided she liked it but miniman wasn't a fan and was still crying by the time it stopped.

We've just had our dreams of a sunny holiday dashed by a friend of mine. She was supposed to be coming with us as a pair of extra hands as DH doesn't want to go away and end up having to look after the two kids all the time, but we were about to book it today and she told us she can't make the dates now . DH won't book it if it's just the two of us, and we can't think of anyone else that can come - boo!

Noo has developed an almost spookily close friendship with a boy at her nursery, although we have actually known him and his mum since he and noo were born. We've spent the afternoon with them at the lido in hyde park, and it's lovely to see them play together. His mum also has a dd who is 1 so give it a bit of time and she and miniman with hopefully be off together and we can sit back and enjoy having a conversation that lasts longer than 5 seconds!

Hope everyone is well. My thoughts are with Chacha, especially in this heat, although I guess you must love it as your preferred holiday destinations are in the sun?

Enjoy the camping Rodeo, hope it stays warm and dry

Brownie, hurrah to surviving camp. We're hoping to join noo and miniman to either brownies or scouts when they're old enough.

Feetheart, family gathering sounds ace. I'm still totally confused about who is what relation in my family - getting a tree together sounds like a fab idea.

Panda, I'm glad you felt able to ask for help and I hope you're getting all that you need. I always stick a big (imaginary) two fingers up to anyone who judges the way I am with my kids, they don't know the full story of what's been happening. It's funny around this area though as it's full of the 'rice cake brigade'. We bumped into a friend of noos from nursery who was at the park with his dad, and I actually felt like I should apologise for giving noo some chocolate, because the dad looked at me like I was poisoning my child! As long as you do your best, and love them unconditionally, then you know you're doing a good job.

Beks, well done to B for learning to swim so quickly, you'll have trouble getting him out of the water now.

Big kiss x

mypandasgotbluehair · 28/07/2008 19:28

Hey, how are you doing ChaCha?

ChaCha · 29/07/2008 11:28

Hi girls,

Panda - I'm okayish. Emotions are all over the place at the moment, I had my pre-assessment yesterday and so the reality finally hit me. Day after tomorrow God willing and I'll have another baby.... You will find my general pregnancy waffle on the August thread, you were all relieved of that burden this year! And how are you? How is everything?

Nova - I thought you were at the beach house hence lack of posts. I'm sorry to hear that your friend isn't able to make it, are there no alternate dates that you would all be happy with? Shame, you had spoken about that a while ago now, no nanny you could hire just for the trip even?
Not enjoying the warm weather at all Nova, maybe because of this pregnancy and not being able to enjoy it as such. Hot countries seem to be choice of destination because of what we can do there. Turkey for us was fantastic as we didn't have to worry about food (kosher/halal), praying, dress code etc.. Comfortability for us = hot destination usually.

Nice that Noo has a friend, that's really sweet and great that there is a playmate for miniman too. I haven't taken the DC to play with other kids for ages now must do that when am back on feet. The boys play so well together at the moment (DS2 is like a 3 year old) that i just leave them to it and they entertain themselves mostly in garden or house. God help me next week.

Hope Rodeo, Beks and FH are all enjoying much deserved breaks.

Nova - am always around if you want to chat x

novadandypowder · 29/07/2008 21:29

I'm with you on the younger sibling behaving like the older Chacha, miniman gets very frustrated if noo gets/does something he wants. It cracks me up when they fight over something - miniman is making up for all that time of being too young to do anything and being bossed around. I keep trying to imagine myself in your shoes, it seems so unreal that you'll have another baby in a few days time.

I've recently taken up pilates to help with the pole dancing, and it's quite incredible. It's the one on the reformer beds, which look a bit like a fancy rowing machine. It always feels so much like hard work in the class but afterwards I feel great. And the instructor is soooooo gorgeous (swoon emoticon) .

I am officially on facebook now if anyone wants to be my friend

BrownieBells · 29/07/2008 22:43

Just a quick drop in from me....
Chacha - hope you are doing ok and sending all hugs and thoughts your way for this week

Panda - you are doing great - Nova is right, others may feel they are in a position to "tut" and judge - but until they have walked a mile in your shoes.......they can get knotted hmph! so there!!

rodeo - hope camping is going well - am planning on taking T on Brownie camp next year!!!!

Nova - bummer about the holiday - if only we lived nearer - we could all go together and then we could occupy each others kids so everyone got a night / day off perhaps that just works in Brownies World? Like chacha says - any way you could amend dates, or find someone else? a relative or something perhaps?
Oh, and I would love to be your friend! will go and invite you right now!

Beks - hope you are doing ok?

Right - off to invite Nova on FB - then will scoot off to bed

Night night - thinking of you all.

x

novadandypowder · 31/07/2008 09:17

Sadly no chance of amending dates as it was the only week DH could do before he starts a busy autumn. We're off to the beach house instead. He's now going to put all his energy into booking my NY trip - woo hoo!! A whole weekend away with a mate, shopping in New York City .

Taking miniman to the drs today as I think he's having problems with his gums/teeth. Wasn't quite sure if I should be seeing a dr about it or a dentist, but as my dentist isn't very child friendly I opted for the GP.

My thoughts and best wishes are with Chacha this morning x

feetheart · 31/07/2008 09:49

You are very much in my thoughts today ChaCha. Hope it all goes the way you want, just make sure you get as much rest as you can.
I am actually quite excited at the thought of being a cyber-Auntie again!

Big, big shame about holiday Nova but at least DH's energies will be transferred to NY planning.

Need to get dressed now and take children to school to help create an 'outdoor classroom' (ie a garden) - cue much digging in the mud and finding creepy crawlies I think. At least the weather is a bit cooler.

novadandypowder · 31/07/2008 17:28

Hi everyone, been out at the park but Chacha messaged me just after 2pm so I could let you all know that she has had a gorgeous baby boy.

Panda how are you doing? Agree with all Nova said LOL at chocolate on the park - what the hell were you thinking!?!
Having a bit of a sad day here, dp's granny died this morning and he's just found out his great aunt died this afternoon Not sure having our Watership Down dvd on in the background is helping, but do love 'Bright Eyes'

ChaCha · 04/08/2008 12:26

Thanks girls

All good here, will get some pics and updates on Y asap.

Rodeo · 04/08/2008 14:53

Lovely to hear from you Chacha, looking forward to your news and pics
Am in process of putting a couple of Jess on Yahoo at the mo, though not going too well! Think it's time for a few more recent images!
Got free tickets to Alton Towers so spent the day there yesterday, which was brillant, even had those queue-hopping fast-track tickets which I thoroughly recommend
Spending a day catching up on the house today, speak soon x

novadandypowder · 05/08/2008 19:26

Just saying hi really, want to keep this thread near the top!

Can't believe how much noo is growing up, 2 months off her 3rd birthday seems impossible. She's been having a very helpful day today which has been delightful.

Miniman is being very mummy-centric at the mo, can't bear to be parted from me, which I must confess I do actually love . He gives the best cuddles.

Beks, hope you're recovering from the post holiday blues.

Chacha, hope you're getting some sleep (!).

I trust everyone else is in the middle of summer holiday activities. This time next year I'll be getting ready for noo to start school .

Rodeo · 05/08/2008 22:14

Hello!
Just a quick log on to let you know I've finally managed to put a couple of recent pics of Jess on Yahoo
School for Noo?! Wow! She'll love it Oh you'll be posting school uniform pics this time next year!
Chacha, hope the bf-ing's going well and you're getting lots of rest Bet Z & Y seems such big boys now!
Night all x

novadandypowder · 06/08/2008 09:13

oh wow she looks so different Rodeo . I have total hair envy - people still think noo's a boy and it's all because her hair is still waiting to go all luscious.

BTKsmum · 06/08/2008 23:12

Hi ladies, I'm back!!! Hope you are all well.

Have had a wonderful holiday and feeling very relaxed although rahter cream crackered today after taking the kids to Colchester Zoo.

AmIWhatAndWhy · 07/08/2008 12:02

Hi all,

Sorry I haven't caught up for ages, I'll try and have a read through this morning whilst the DC are engrossed in their new Duplo sets.

Firstly, Huge Congratulations to the chacha family! Your new little man will slot in to your wonderful family just perfectly. I can't wait to see picture. Will they be 'three peas in a pod?'

You've always amazed me at how well you've managed 2 and a pregnancy, let alone brazenly dashing across the world with small ones. Just a train to Yorkshire with the DC has me nearly in tears hehhee.

A small update from me, I am about to embark on various courses to become a web developer. It mixes creative with actually being able to earn a living, and I'm really excited.

S is doing brilliantly, she stuns me with how clever she is. She learnt to jump and hop yesterday so spends at least a third of the day doing just that, making sure someone is watching and impressed, of course.

O is great too, we started potty training last week and he seems to be doing well. No 'brown' accidents yet. We have gone straight to the toilet with toddler seat and step, has anyone else done this? I guess It's easier for us, as in a flat it's all on one level so no trudging up and down stairs.

We do have some slightly sad news with him, I've started a thread here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/1373/582189

Other sad news too, my grandad passed away, he'd fought bowel cancer for two years but then denied further intervention. One day he was his usual self, then took to bed and told us he was going. Luckily I was there to say my goodbyes. More recently we lost my nannan, they say true love never dies? My mum said he just went ahead to make sure it was good enough for her. They would have been married 62 years yesterday. Sad times. My mum isn't doing too well.

Hope everyone's well, as I said I'll have a read and post again later.

AmIWhatAndWhy · 07/08/2008 12:07

p.s Nova, I feel your pain. At the clinic this week I was chatting to a mum for ages and she said 'oh you can really tell they are brothers they look so alike'. Made worse by the fact DD was wearing purple cropped trousers, a white top with pink ballerina shoes on it and red mary jane shoes. Not a very boyish outfit surely?

novadandypowder · 07/08/2008 13:59

AmI - I've only managed a quick read through your other thread, but just wanted to say that my friends son has a similar problem with communication (and the resulting frustration that comes with it) and he was recently diagnosed with dyspraxia. I'm no expert by any means but maybe have a quick look online? Sounds like you'll be able to get some good advice from the SN thread though. They've had to pay for private therapy though, because of the long wait for NHS, but he is at pre-school, so I would say trust your instincts on that one.
