Well thought I should start a new thread in time to link it on the old one!!!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FloriaTosca · 02/06/2008 09:59

Well started that last one at 8am and finally got it posted at 9.30! I wonder how long ds will give me now he has gone for his nap?
Choc I meant to say how sorry I was to hear about your friends pnp..it must be truly dreadful for everyone involved. I do hope she recovers quickly... and on that subject Alice how is your sil and her lo now?

Alex is having a "I can feed myself thank you" food strike. Basically, unless he can finger feed it or it is sticky enough for him to spoonfeed himself (which obviously tends to mean that 90% of it ends up in every orifice and crevice but his mouth)then he won't eat it...and when he has had enough of anything he leans over the side of his chair and drops it to the dog...thank heavens for laminate, easy to wash, floors...and now the dog needs a bath because Alexs aim is too accurate and the poor animal frequently gets a banana, strawberry, or avocado buttered toast coat conditioner
Well I saw Dh off to Russia at 6am, we don't know what sort of mobile coverage they have in the remote area he is going to (apparently there is only one (morning) flight to Moscow per day from the nearest airport so although he finishes working there on Friday morning he is going to have to take the train in order to fly home...apparently it takes 27 hours to get there!!!! but it is apparently more reliable than the Saturday morning flight)so I may not even hear from him until 10pm on Saturday night when he lands back in Manchester! I just hope that all the progress in father and son bonding that we have achieved over the last month doesnt go straight back to square one with a whole weeks absence
...well there he blows..9.58...precisely 26 mins asleep
Have a good day all...

Good news everyone - just been for Anya's scan results and they're clear! Her spine is a bit narrower but not enough to be a concern and there's no pressure on the spinal chord. She'll have to be regularly monitored but that's really good news and we can stop being overly concerned about her neck/spine . That's all the big tests done now - we're just into monitoring/check-ups - we've got a follow-up next week at the genetics clinic.

Dal - my sister and I are 2+half years apart and we were really close as kids (kind of grown apart a bit since). I also know sisters who are 7 years apart who are very close (elder one is now mid-20s) - so I agree with Alice, I don't think there's a best age gap.

Anya loves remote controls too. I usually catch up with stuff I've recorded while I'm feeding her but she tends to grab the remote - there's a wheel in the middle that you can turn to fastforward or rewind and she's very good at that, which is very annoying!

FT - Alex must be wanting the extra milk for all the activity he's doing! Can't imagine the energy he's using up doing all that walking about (almost). Hard work for you though, especially with dh off to Russia (27 hours?? You can get to the other side of the world faster than that!).

Choc - was wondering if you were ok - bad luck with the house - it's so frustrating and stressful isn't it, and everything seems so much worse when you're tired. Hope it all works out for you in the end, and as you say at least you have what's important.

Inzi - lol!

FloriaTosca · 02/06/2008 13:13

Inzi;Have a cuppa and start again{smile]
Anyasmum; Fantastic news about the scan result! I'm thrilled and relieved for you, at last you can get on with simply enjoying Anya rather than having your fun tempered with concern ...(though I suppose none of us will ever completely stop worrying about them)
Right...lunch time for us...lets see what "sir" makes of my oven baked cod in parsley sauce with swiss chard and croquet potatoes...

alicet · 02/06/2008 14:04

Floria that lunch sounds better than mine - if he doesn't like it and the dog isn't wearing it send it over here! Thanks for asking about sil too - she is doing great thanks and they're even talking about having another child at some point. They have had lots of good advice and the consensus seems to be that it would be very unlikely to happen again.... Think she's probably a braver woman than me but then again my boys would be worth it!

Inzi how frustrating!!!! That's happened to me before too although it's been me that inadvertently deleted it! Very annoying!

Anyasmum great news on anya's scan. Really chuffed for you! Good luck for your interviews this week too....

Just been chatting to choc having read her last couple of posts - seems the house sale is back on. She is totally shattered but feeling a little better knowing that at least she doesn't have to go back to relentless tidying to sell the house again! May see her this pm but depends on whether her parents come and go in time (they are popping in on the way home from their holiday). I'm stuck for the mo too waiting for the plumber so might be about a bit this pm... Will start to hyperventilate if he doesn't come in time for my cafe nero skinny vanilla latte fix though!!!!!

OP posts:
Dalrymps · 02/06/2008 22:40

Floria - Hope everything is going ok without dh and that 'sir' is accepting your fine cuisine.
I understand how you feel about the self weaning thing, it is tough not knowing when it will happen, especially when it's such a special thing to do. Only advice I can give is to cherish every time and have some pictures to look back on. It is sad when it ends but not as bad as you think it will be, soon you'll just be looking back on it as a very fond memory of something amazing you did for and with him .
Hope Alex starts sleeping a bit better again and gives you a bit more sleep, sounds like he's been having fun singing in the Amby though .
Choc - thanks for the tip re designer baby, I think i've seen her on a few threads before so will do a search on her. Sorry you're having so much stress with the moving house thing, not what you need at all at the moment, I know what it's like. It took us a year to sell our flat and buy our house and all whilst I was pregnant. We swore we'd never move again! Alice updated us that it seems to be back on at the mo, lets hope it stays that way, fingers crossed for you, i'm sure it'll all fall in to place and go well. At times like this I tell myself 'everything happens for a reason', hard to believe at the time when you're so stressed but I always find it to be true when I look back on how things worked out.
Glad the food is going down well! Dylan did good today, actually ate tea and pudding, a first in this house!.
Oh and as always, (((hugs))) for the tiredness you are having to cope with, I realy realy hope the situation improves for you soon.
Inzi - come back! I'm sooo curious to know what it was you were writing about before it got deleted
Anyasmum - Great news on the scan, fantasic, so so pleased for you, must be a huge weight off your mind .
Alice - hope the plumber turned up
Well, had an ok day, Walked to the post office to post a parcel and popped in to see pils for a bit, just chilling now. Dylan has been eating well today, wasn't too sure about the cauliflour cheese I made him for dinner, had about 7 spoons, but wolfed breakfast and tea down and drank 21oz of milk in total so i'm pleased. Out of interest, how many oz of formula is everyones lo taking a day now we're weaning?
It's my birthday on fri but I don't feel that excited about it so far, all I have planned is a takeaway curry and maybe a haircut, I could have done more but just fancy a lazy day. Dh has taken the day off work so should be nice .
Hi to everyone I haven't mentioned and i#ll chat to ya soon

Alice ? Henry is lucky I?m so much more motivated to do things as poor Ollie didn?t really get to do anything! Sorry to hear you?re struggling a little. I?m sure you?re being as fab at work as you always were, I get the impression you have very high expectations of yourself which is no bad thing but; have the senior registrars been there longer? Are they older? Are thy men who?ve not had 2 children and maternity leave? You?re doing a great job I?m sure, it?s just hard when you first go back isn?t it? it will get better?..x

Inzi ?OMG!!!!!!!! My friend has an 11 month old and is 4 months prgt with number 2?.he?s the one that doesn?t sleep through the night, or longer than 4 hrs really, so she?s going to have her hands full! Lol for the ?I see dead people? thing! Ideas for father?s day 1) Jane?s handprints on a canvas, a small silver framed photo of you/Jane or just Jane for his desk at work (does he have one?) Do you have a pottery place where you and Jane can decorate a plate/cup for him? You can get them fired and then dh can use it will have a think for more ideas?

Crochet ?Have a lovely holiday of you! Fab news on the tooth!

LLL- did you go?

J20 ? I countersigned my Goddaughter?s passport last weekend. It?s more I had to sign I?d know her mum for a long time.

Dal ?re the age gap we would have had 3yrs 2 months had I not miscarried but we ended up with 3 yrs 8 months. It?s swings and roundabout really I think. Larger gap the older one is more independent and needs less ?you? time but it?s been psychological warfare at times with Ollie. Smaller age gap and they (I would think) take more out of you but have each other as play mates very quickly. Siblings can be close or hate each other with any age gap?. Very cute pics will have to force dh to sit at the computer and upload some of ours!

Choc ? I?m not surprised you?re soo low at the mo you?ve had no ?real? sleep for wuite some time so sorry for you at the mo xxx

Anyasmum ?fab news on the scan results!!!

Well, dh has had his contract extended for another year at work with a small daily rate increase so we are happy here. He?s in risk management at the moment for Nomura, a Japanese merchant bank, which I think, given the current climate is highly amusing so getting any rate rise at all was good. He?s having a week off at the mo but as it?s raining we don?t have anything planned so he?s just going to play tennis and spa a lot! Henry is still a placid little chuffa who loves his door bouncer. Ollie keeps trying to swing him but hey, that?s a typical Ollie think really I can now run for 4 ½ mins with a min rest 5x?s so are really pleased with my progress. It?s slow but I couldn?t walk to the top of the stairs without getting out of breath a couple of months ago.
I went to the women?s? physio dept on Fri. (or the fanny dr as my friend calls it) and I was show a bit more about pelvic floor exercises, how to do them, when to do them and how long it should take before I will see an improvement. Sets of 10 x3 3 times a day fro 3-4 months ladies?.you are all, of course, dong this anyway aren?t you?
Things are better but still not quite right as I still feel the world is going to fall out but don?t have the consultants app till July to find out the results of the tests I had done.

Love to all xxx

J2O · 03/06/2008 11:32

anyasmum, that is such good news! so pleased

inzi-you really are a big softie, bless you i was out in the rain last night trying to rescue a frog from my cat, but i ended u[p having to grab the cat and bring her in, so she probably got the frog later.

muppet-well done on your running, i couldn't run into the kitchen without hyperventilating when i got there!

FT- Shannon also has the 'i can feed myself' attitude, apart from her drink, she sits with her mouth open waiting for me to pour it in.

Choc- are you going to try CO??? i really think you should, it could make a huge difference to R's sleep!! hope the house thing goes through for you.

Alice, i think you are superwoman actually, and always so calm, do you clean your own house too? can't you stretch to a cleaner a couple of hours a week? maybe someone to arrange tea for 1 or 2 nights, just to take the pressure of a bit, we don't want you having a meltdown!! not that i'm saying you would, but you work to live, not live to work etc, you should be able to enjoy yourself and relax a bit with your boys when you get home, not clean and cook

well hv came today, apparantly Shannon is advanced in all her milestones, which i already knew, but kind of wish she'd stay a baby for longer, i'm so ungrateful!

muppetgirl · 03/06/2008 11:41

J20 - great that Shannon is advanced in her milsetones, I don't think Henry has even heard of them!!!! He still doesn't roll and he's 7 months tomorrow.

938 messages...

thread titles please ladies!

J2O · 03/06/2008 13:15

muppet-i didn't really want her to be advanced, i wanted a lazy baby this time but she seems intent on following in her sisters footsteps, oh and apparantly they don't normally get frightened of strangers till 9 months ish but she cried at the hv, she's been doing it for a few weeks with people she doesn't know, does Ollie get things for Henry? when the older kids do stuff for them, they have no incentive to move themselves. no idea for thread title!

meant to sy early, thanks everyone for the offers of getting away, that is really thoughtful

LisaLessLumpy · 03/06/2008 13:43

Morning all, sorry I haven't been on sooner been busy. So much so I'm not even going to try and catch up with everything

Yes we did go to London in the end, had a fab time. Ben didn't throw up once from the friday morning onwards and he has upped his food and milk content back up to normal. He is back to normal eating wise but for some reason now when I put him down to sleep he cries and screams for a good half an hour, I'm wondering whether his tummy is bothering him after so long without having much in there and now going back to normal? Oh well, will see how he is after another couple of days He is also only having short naps of half an hour, and yesterday he only had an hours sleep all day, he refused sleep from 10.30am till bedtime luckily he is still sleeping thru the night though.

Yesterday I spent the entire day cleaning the kitchen, ie, cupboards and aga and polishing up all the granite so didn't get on MN at all. Went to sainsbury's last night to get a few bits then went and filled the car up with petrol... my card got refused this has never happened to me before and I had no other way of paying so I had to fill in a form and I have seven days to go and pay. Checked my account today and I am so overdrawn its untrue the money DH gives me each month hasn't gone in and I have had extra outgoings this month.... Also I spent £150 in Rigby and Pellar on friday oops. That was another surprise, I have been wearing 34-36 B-C, I was measured at 32D so I bought a strapless bra and two everyday ones

I started this post 2 hours ago, just been and picked Sam up from nursery in between will be back shortly I am being called...

LisaLessLumpy · 03/06/2008 13:49

Inzi - that is pretty much the food and times Ben is on except he has 8oz's each feed

LisaLessLumpy · 03/06/2008 14:12

I can't remember who asked but I noticed something about age differences...? There is 2 years 4 months between Sam and Ben, if the pregnancy I miscarried had gone to plan there would have been 22 months between, in hindsight I am glad of the age difference now as I managed to get Sam potty trained, and into a proper bed before Ben arrived. Also he could communicate better too. The relationship they have got is great, Sam cuddles him all the time. Also now Ben is sitting up they are playing better with each other.

FloriaTosca · 03/06/2008 16:04

LLL ;SOooo glad Ben is better and that you had a wonderful time... the rigby and pellar spree though as my bank balance teeters along a very fine line I know what it would do to my balance!

J20; congrats on Shannons milestones but totally with you on the '...but where has my baby gone?' front

Muppet; congratulations to your Dh for getting his contract renewed and even more congratulations on your fitness progress. about not getting your test results until July...sorry if tmi but I think I might be having to undergo those sort of investigations myselfmy pelvic floor is in great condition apparently (for an old bird)but there is a possibility that my tear wasnt sewn up correctly and I though I'm coping ok at the moment I dont want to be having "trouble" down there in the future so you have all my sympathy on that subject.

Inzi poor little baby bird, I would have cried but LOL about your poltergeist cup!!!! Glad Jane let you post this time

Dal; sadly "sir" did not appreciate my efforts with his lunch nor with his cheese stuffed mini chicken fillet with roast butternut squash, hand shelled peas, baby carrots and cream-mashed potato that I did for his dinner he must have been feeling under the weather because he didnt even want strawberries and icecream! and Alice; sadly the dog did get to wear most of it, so it isnt winging its way north I'm afraid.

Well our big news is that while at Talk First this morning I was sitting on the floor with Alex stood between my legs with his back to me, balancing himself by lightly leaning back against me (no hands thanks Mum) and doing an occasional lean forwards to stand totally unaided as he has been practising for a few days now when he suddenly he decided it was time to try walking unaided too!!! So he has done his first 4 steps straight into no mans land...no one to"go" to! And no camera to catch the moment!...oh and yes, I did manage to lunge forward and catch him as he gained momentum....and daddy in Russia too!!!! At this rate the little beggar will be running marathons before he gets home!

J2O · 03/06/2008 16:24

LLL-glad you had a good time, and at your bra size being wrong! haven't you been measured for a while? bet you're pretty chuffed aren't you?

FT-omg to Alex walking, clever boy! and yummy to his lunch, and would kill for that!

ok, am going to tell you something, but you're not allowed to all tell me off! Am going on a kind of date on Fri night, but he is from Norfolk and so we're meant to meeing half way, however he is working till 7, so i said i'd go a bit closer, so meeting in Boston about 2 hours away from me, at a premier inn-is that really seedy?? its got a pub attached to it so i think we're meeting in there,, what do you all think?

J2O · 03/06/2008 16:28

FT-i meant i would kill for that! hope he's not coming down with anything, maybe his teeth?

oh and I keep forgetting to mention Marwien's (have i spelt it right?) tooth, crochet, how many has she got? we're still waiting for teeth at this end!

J20 - I don;t know how bra size was so different, but the size B's I have been wearing seem to fit ok, maybe its because I wear cheap bras so the sizing is different? Saying that these new Bras make me look alot better than what I have been wearing... Next time I am in M&S or such like I am going to try a bra on in the size R&P measured me and we'll see the difference

Oh and to echo INzi - BE CAREFUL, tell someone exactly where you are etc etc

J2O · 03/06/2008 17:58

aw Inzi, going to start calling you bird woman!

OK, i know, what your saying, will be ringing friend every half an hour, however, I think he's more scared than me, it was my idea to meet, and where to meet, I have no intention of starting a long term relationship with someone who lives 3 hours away so its highly possible i will be trying to take advantage of him!

J2O · 03/06/2008 17:59

oh and LLL-i wear cheap bras too and they are about the same as expensive places, i haven't herd of where you got measured though.
