LOL tasha, very good. Yep that sounds embarassingly similar to my 20min "dp's almost home" clean which usually involves rearranging the sofa cushions (don't know why this helps but it does make the place look better) throwing all toys in fabulously handy toy chest, flinging something in the oven, brushing my hair, planting the broom in the livingroom (oh, I was just about to do that) and I'm usually washing up when he walks in.

I'm sure he's onto me by now but I still do it!

the sign for teeth is easy - you move yr index finger across mouth from left to right & say teeth.

the important thing with signing is always to say the word asell as sign it.

I did sing & sign with dd. she is now 3.5 & still signs occasionally. Starting with ds2 after Easter hopefully.

www.signstation.org is useful for finding signs - you have to register but its free.

I think the baby signing is mainly based around makaton rather than bsl. some of the signs are made simpler.

tasha22 · 25/02/2008 14:59

my ds1 seems to think that applying colgate toothpaste to all surfaces in the house will provide a unique antibacterial system that is clinically proven to fight germs for hours after applying so Colgate Fresh Confidence keeps your house fresh for hours.
sorry in really funny mood!

My2Weegirls · 25/02/2008 15:03

thanks bogwoppit - will register.

dd1 (3.1) has started signing since she's been watching something special - we're keen to keep her learning more.

My2Weegirls · 25/02/2008 15:11

at least the house will smell nice and fresh tasha!

Hello everyone. I think my headache is finally starting to go. I'm off work today because I had a stomach upset yesterday evening and felt really drained and dehydrated this morning. I think it was caused by too much caffeine in the Anadin Extra that I take. It's the only painkiller that keeps my headaches at bay but I have an intolerance to caffeine which means, every so often, I get stomach pains and diahroeah (sorry for tmi). I'm at mum's so she's helping with the dcs. She's out on the school run now so I'm making the most of the peace and quiet while it lasts.

James - dh has never been allowed to use the 'weekend is my time off' card, even when I wasn't at work. He knows how tiring it is to look after kids so I make sure I get one lay in at the weekend. I work harder than he does anyway. I do most of the housework and child care, while he does cooking most nights and occasional bit of washing up. I think he's starting to realise just how much I do compared to him but he still moans when I ask him to do something. Maybe I'll actually get a mother's day present this year (and pigs might fly). Last year he didn't even get dd to make me a card

Glad you're feeling more positive today tasha. I know it's hard but you really need to focus on yourself. I hope the appointments are helpful.

I made Annabel Karmel's 'Chicken in tomato sauce' yesterday. It reckons it makes 12 portions for stage 2 weaning. I managed to get 4 portions out of it - anyone else got a gannet (sp?)?

tasha22 · 25/02/2008 15:41

hope you feel better soon gill.

my2weegirls better than smeling of dirty nappies

ds2 thinks that emptying his bottle of milk on the floor will leave Outstanding shine, and easily deals with grease and grime on floors, saving you time and hassle

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 25/02/2008 15:53

Aaw, hope you get a card this year Gill. Hope we all do in fact! Glad you're feeling better, someone really needs to tell you what's causing the headaches, it's ridiculous that you ahve to suffer almost every single day with them. My brother is similar but I think he just drinks far too much coffee, eats chocolate and rubbish instead of actual meals, and is on the PC far too much playing games. I'm sure you don't do any of that, G!

James is constantly whinging today, I've played with him, fed him, given him loads of toys, I know him bum is clean- why the hell is he still whinging? They're whines which turn into shrieks, god knows what the neighbours think. Where has my quiet placid baby gone?

GillL · 25/02/2008 17:19

Thanks. My mum keeps telling me to go back to the doctor because it's been about 17 years since I first started being tested and there could have been medical advances in that area.

Almost every nappy I change these days is dirty. Ds only used to have 1 or 2 dirty nappies each day. Mum said it's cos his stomach is getting used to solid food.

lol tasha. I'm sure they mean well

tasha22 · 25/02/2008 17:31

Blimey - quiet today. Where is everyone?

Dh was away last night so I sent dd to mum's to stay the night. It was sooo quiet. I didn't fancy trying to get two of them ready to leave for 7:45am.

leifmum · 26/02/2008 17:05

hey everyone! james and tasha - hope you both got on ok at the doctors x

gill - i'm looking forward to mother's day althouogh dh is working all weekend so won't be doing anything . as long as i get a nice card i won't mind. last week was my birthday and i was looking forward to my firt ever mummy card. (I used to get them from the cat but that doesn't count!) As it was i got a nice one from dh and then just a jokey one from dd. to be fair it did maake me laugh because it summed her up but then i was waiting for my "proper" card and it never materialised! It did actually make me quite upset because i'll never have a first birthday as a mummy again. pathetic hey?!

new foods we've tried this week with dd are kiwi, cheese on toast, felafel, melon, bolognese, pasta, bagel. she isn't really increasing the amount she eats just yet but she is taking a bit more milk so don't know if i should be encouraging her a bit more? i don't force her to eat stuff if she doesn't seem to want it. i'd rather keep things chilled and let her set her own pace.

went for a walk in the sun this afternoon and met up with lots of our baby group friends which was nice. tomorrow we're going into london to my dad's retirement lunch at his office. should be good.

not going to work this week. fed up with them taking so long about working out how i can go back part time so i'm being petulant!

dh working late tonight so will probably be back on here later making the most of it. i always get abuse if i'm on mn!! think he feels threatened

Pinkranger · 26/02/2008 22:27

hi everyone, really busy on here cant keep up!
Kitchen is in thank god and now in working order so a litlle bit more back to normal! GillL I made that tonight and only got 4 servingt! also made the chicken Sweet pot and Apple which looks nice aswell but still only got a little, was going to do pasta to mix with it but it was 9.30 and i had enough!

Hope everyone is well, James, how is baby still crying ? could it be his teeth??

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 27/02/2008 00:07

Aaw Leifmum, that's not pathetic. Men just don't think. Hope you get a lovely card!

Pink, I think he's just screeching because he wants to, but he also does it when he's frustrated and because he knows it gets my attention very successfully. My sister says I have to just ignore it. Went shopping with her today and she said I have a tendency to put J's dummy in when he makes the tiniest squeak, I hadn't realised! it's just weird going from being a single person who is quiet and blends in, to someone with an unpredictable baby who screams and squawks in cafe's. I find it really embarassing, but my sis said people barely notice unless it's prolonged screaming. I suppose it's just one of those things you have to get used to!

I got on ok at the doctors, she referred me to the practice's counsellor, so fingers crossed I should get an appointment soon.

hiya everyone, a quick post. I've been in and out of hospital, the docs say i may have a bad kidney infection or something, i've got a scan soon. Anyway I'm all drugged up but we are still at PIL's house.

Trying to catch up on everything, BIG, HUGE hugs to all who need them, esp Tasha and James. I've been feeling very low recently but I'll post later and try and explain why. dh and ds have been so good whilst i've been unwell.

also i LOVE the baby sleeping bags-Callum was in the 0-6month grobag but i just got him the next size 6-18month and its about twice the size of him but he seems to like it!!!

does anyone knowhow to post a video link on here? love to you all.

my2weegirls, i really don't think you live too far from us, if you want to meet up let me know x x x

My2Weegirls · 27/02/2008 09:47

gill - think you've passed your headaches to me!

hi knickers - glad the new thread is working for you.

james - hope the appt ins't too long in coming for you.

lerifmum - i hope they sort soemthing out soon for you at work.

helibee - poor you, hope you feel better soon. was it inverclyde you were in? i always think it looks like a prison rather than a hospital. i'd be delighted to meet up, you let me know when you are feeling up to it. and i'm happy to travel to nearer you. there was another aug mum - conkertree - but she hasn't posted since after new year (hope everything is ok). her ds and my dd2 were born on the same day, in the same hospital and we didn't realise till after, that we were in beds next to each other!

i have just fished tonnes of wax out of dd2 ears - she could have grown tatties in them!

her whole top gum is really bumpy looking think we are in for a marathon teething session.

there's actually sun here today so off out soon to enjoy it.

tasha22 · 27/02/2008 09:49

Hi everyone sorry for going AWOL for so long but having three LO's is bloody hard work.
Catch up!
well Connie said mama at 3 half months, sat up at 4 months (on her own), dada at 5 months, standing and side stepping at 6 months, first tooth came Christmas day (of all the days) second tooth soon followed, this week she has started waving saying "hiya" and "bye-bye" bless, it's all going soooooo fast but that's baba's for you, I'm enjoying dressing my little girl up she has a better wardrobe than me LOL!
Me! I'm great, getting use to being a family of 5, DH started driving so we've been making the most of being out & about and having that freedom. My boys are wonderful and good, and Connie to them is like the little (big) light in their lives', it's likes she always been apart of us, now our little (never to get any bigger) family is totaly complete!
How is everyone? Well one question, has everyone missed me, LOL!?

I have added more pic's!
back soon BMxx

tasha22 · 27/02/2008 13:00

lo is now 10lb7oz so james only felt like parting with 3oz lol. im being pretty laid back with the weaning...well either that or lazy! hes taking half a a day but loving it. blw def wouldnt work with him as he finds it hard to get a rusk up to his mouth and its near the size of his head! he is drinking 5oz now and hv is going to monitor him weekly. hes teething too, constantly has wet slimy hands.
