Tasha

I hope everythink goes well with your LO.

Does anyone elses child chase the hoover around trying to catch the end. Or is it just my 'little monkey'.

Mamamila i don't like babies ears being pieced, but do understand that some cultures like it to be done at an early age. If your happy the no one elses opnions should matter.

Meandmyjoe · 28/04/2008 20:48

Tasha, hope your lo is OK, it's awful when they are poorly, I always feel so helpless and emotional when ds is ill, even with just a cold!

James, i hope ds doesn't come down with anything, poor little luv. hope he's soon feeling a bit brighter.

Joseph has been a whinge bag today and even took a couple of minutes or crying to settle himself to sleep tonight, very unusual for him as he's normally out like a light at night time.

I wonder if he's getting another tooth. He got like this about a month ago and then we realised he had his first tooth. He's also rejecting bottles til I rock him then put it in his mouth and refusing more than a few spoons full of solids. He's had a few finger foods today but other than that and about 13oz of milk, he's had bugger all to eat. I hope he's better soon cos he seems very miserable, poor little lad.

Anyway, best be off to bed cos I'm knackered and I have a feeling Joe will wake up hungry in the night!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 28/04/2008 22:09

Evening all, sooo tired so haven't read through everything sorry.

Tasha, best of luck with lo at the hospital, at least there they can monitor him and get everything working properly again. Give him a kiss from me.

In fact a big get well soon to all the poorly/teething/hungerstrike babies! James seems fine now, he's been really tired all day but apart from that he's fine.

James has had a love/hate relationship with our hoover. He used to scream and wail when I turned it on, but now he's fascinated by it and tries to grab it all the time. I caught him kissing it with tongues earlier, which was nice.

Can't believe how much James can eat these days. When we started with blw there was 90% on the floor, 10% in his belly, and now there's none on the floor (most of the time) and he only leaves a bit on his tray. Today he's eaten: a banana, a small box of raisins, a yoghurt and some cheerios for breakfast. Peas, sweetcorn, grilled trout, cherry tomatoes and cucumber for lunch, and philedelphia on toast, a little roast chicken, more tomatoes (he'd eat them all day I think) some cheese and a chunk of jamaican ginger cake for tea, AND a pot of spag bol as I got a bit mixed up with mealtimes. Does anyone else's baby eat this much? he's usually feeding himself so I'm hoping it's impossible to overfeed him.

Definitely think his movement is coming on now! All of a sudden he can go from sitting to commando crawling, he's stepping when we hold him to stand, and we think he's moving forward a bit whilst commando crawling now, but hasn't quite cracked it yet.

Was sposed to be going to mums n toddlers tomorrow but reeeeaaaally don't fancy it! Might go swimming instead.

has everyone gone into hiding today? or have you all gone to another thread and not told me

tasha - i know you'll be with your wee one, but i hope he's doing well

i hardly ever use th hoover when dds are in - have wood - so it's brush and dust buster for us and when i'm properly cleaning it gets hoovered.

mamamila - does mila try and swat/pull out her earings? any photos of her with them in? we lived in saudi when i was wee for a couple of years and one of my brother used to throw gecko poo at me, along with the gecko (or he'd drip candle wax onto their tail so that they would pull away and their tail would come off). see what all you lot with boys will have to put up with .

james - he really seems to love his food!

helibee - callum's walking is very impressive! he's a cutie! are the sheep pj legs yours? where did you get them?

GillL · 29/04/2008 21:14

Hi all.

James - Alex would eat all day long if I let him.

Well done James and Callum for stepping/walking!

mamamila - PMSL about the gecko poo!

I'm off to bed very soon. Dd is going through another phase of not eating, falling asleep early and then waking in the night hungry.

helibee · 29/04/2008 23:07

hiya-managed to get a stolen bit of broadband from some of pil's unsecured neighbours (PIL haven't moved into the 21st century this way yet! ) Off to my dads on thursday.

James-glad James is better and wow at his eating-i'm very . Today Callum had some cheerios (dry), some rice and pineapple and a wee spponful of ice cream (it was his aunties birthday so he got the treat ) and he had raisins, a carrot stick and a rice cake. He's just a wee snacker and doesn't eat much.

my2weegirls-yes my legs at christmas (PJ's are from primark-they've still got them in, they were a pressie from my baby cousin cos she loves sheep (and she loves me too )

tasha-hope lo is ok and home from hospital soon, hope you're managing to get some rest and hope dp is looking after you all

meandmyjoe and gill hope your lo's sleep ok and eat better soon

Off to bed now, night x

conkertree · 30/04/2008 12:59

hi folks - hope your lo is getting on better tasha.

ds eating seems to fluctuate hugely - one day cant get enough and then eats so little the next that i have to try really hard not to push it cause i think he's still too young to refuse just for the sake of it. getting better at eating things himself too - not quite blw but a mix of that and purees.

still no crawling here though - few wee steps when he's on his feet but isnt showing signs of being desperate to be on the move.

he's another one that grabs at hoovers but its mostly to get the cable - he loves to chew on any cable he can find - not the safest thing in the world, but he only has one tooth so far so dont have to watch for cable chewing like a hawk just yet.

wonder if anyone is talking to dh at playgroup this week.

Meandmyjoe · 30/04/2008 20:33

Well thankfully, Joseph is still sleeping through, dispite eating like a sparrow for the past couple of days! He keeps pushing the bottle out with his tounge and arching his back when I try and give him food. He did it a few weeks ago then after that we found his first tooth so I'm hoping that it's all down to teething.

He has actually not eaten too badly today, managed to get 20 oz of milk in him and 3 solid meals. Although, he has developed an annoying habbit of rubbing his mouth and nose when you are trying to feed him so he rubs it all over himself and stops the spoon by putting his hands over his mouth and rubbing! Awkward little devil!

He is still crawling backwards but has started shuffling along the sofa and sidestepping around funiture. He's got very strong legs but no where near enough balance to actually walk.

He is such a sweetie though and sits shaking his head and 'singing' to make his voice fluctuate. He loves clapping his hands and even does this when I'm trying to feed him!

I'm so envious of all you with big eaters! DS always seems distracted in his highchair but does OK with finger foods. I think he is a bit of a control freak and likes feeding himself.

Anyway, hope you are all doing well. I'll let you know if his next tooth ever arrives!

Pinkranger · 01/05/2008 13:24

God we are in may already where is the time going!

Hope everyone is well

Tash - hope your little one is doing well and that you are ok aswell!!

Well ds didn't end up with SF,thank god! But i think we have a tooth that seems to have got "stuck" iyswim! I keep thinking its going to come through and nothing! Bloody annoying for me and him!
Well he has successfully mastered commando crawling and can make all wherever he wants to at the moment, my BIL says he looks like a little sniper going across the floor!

Can i ask what you guys give for dinners now we are coming away from the purees as im seeming to get stuck for ideas!

MAIDSTONE LADIES Moat park's Leisure Centre indoor Ball pit is FREE until 16th May as the park is closed! im taking the kids after school!

conkertree · 01/05/2008 14:17

I'm still doing purees cause i'm used to them and he seems to still like them, but am mashing them more than pureeing them now and putting in lumps like little pasta shapes etc.

Am also giving him lots of finger foods at the same time. he loves green beans and raisin bread and pretty much all fruit/veg although sometimes i'm not sure its worth it for the amount he gets with things like melon. tempted to feed him with no clothes on (him not me) and then dunk him straight in the bath after.

conkertree · 01/05/2008 14:19

yay got two orders for baby kilts from people who've seen ds in his for a wedding we went to recently. not planning to fully start the business for a year roughly, but if the orders come in, who knows?

Hersetta · 01/05/2008 16:41

I'm doing the same as conker - all veggies are mashed now instead of pureed and mixed with some whizzed up meat and some pasta stars. Finger foods inbetween meals include rice cake, bread sticks and fruit bread. Shock horror she even has a jar of food a day - bad mummy, but she much prefers Hipp spag bol for example to a mummy version.

Sounds cute conker - have you got a pic??

tasha22 · 01/05/2008 16:49

hey lo is still in hospital im exhausted so dp is reluctantly staying with him tonight they only have a reclining chair for me to sleep on so not very comfy. hes getting all tube feeds because he wont even attempt the bottle anymore. hes put on some weight though and is 11lb5oz.

ill be back on to catch up when i get the kids to bed

Meandmyjoe · 01/05/2008 17:38

Oh Tasha, sorry to hear that lo is still in hospital. Must dash, ds is whinging!

tasha22 · 01/05/2008 20:00

just off phone to dp and lo took 120mls of bottle

Meandmyjoe · 01/05/2008 20:17

Oh great news Tasha! You must be relieved and here's me complaining about ds refusing bottles for a few days cos of teething. Sorry

I hope he's on the mend. Do they know exactly what is the problem Tasha? Sorry if you've already said but I've re'read the thread and I can't find anything out.

Remember to try and relax and enjoy your night at home in your bed instead of a crappy recliner!

Just wanted to say that I hope things get better, and he is home soon.

DS is taking bottles uch better today but solids have still been a struggle. Think I may just stick to BLW but I am paranoid about him choking! He had a strip of pear today and managed ok after gagging on the first bit. He seems to do much better with finger foods and loves cooked pasta and red peppers! Going to try him with some melon tomorrow.

I think his teething may have caused it but he is hating being spoon fed at the minute (apart from jelly and yoghurt which he never refues!)

I'm sure it will improve when his next tooth is finally through although he's never been a lover of his high chair!

Hope your lo's are all doing well and are happier than my tething little whinge ball!

My2Weegirls · 01/05/2008 20:21

oh tasha - that's good news he's putting on weight. imagine them only having reclining chairs. are they saying anymore about his breathing etc?

conker - do you have a website for us to have a nosey at? and a photo of him in his kilt?

we seem to be 2 steps forward 2 steps back with the finger food and lumps - V&D for a week didn't help, she's now got another cold - though think it's again due to teeth.

meandmy joe - hope the next tooth comes soon!

does anyone else lo hate banana? i've tried it mashed, jars of banana brekkie, banofie (?sp) pie, or banana and other fruit mixtures and she gags at first taste and then refuses to eat any more. which is a real pain as when they get older they are very handy 'on the go' food. grr

she's also going through a bit of separation anxiety as well - everytime i put her down and leave the room the wee drama queen is crying and chasing after me. when i turn and speak to her she lies flat out, head on hands, then peeks up to see if i'm looking

hope everyone is well.

Meandmyjoe · 01/05/2008 20:24

Ah my lo loves babnana and banana flavoured things but my best friend's son HATES it! He is now 17 months and still gags when he tastes it. He could never stand it, even as a young baby. Strange really as it's suposed to be a baby favourite but each to their own!

My2Weegirls · 01/05/2008 20:39

my older dd would eat them till they came out her ears - strange!

off to bed for an early night - i'm knackered.

tasha22 · 01/05/2008 20:47

Meandmyjoe- hope he starts eating again soon for you. as long as hes drinking his bottles bless him.

my2weegirls- none of mine liked bananas they gagged when i gave them to them but now my ds2 cant get enough of them ds1 is still a bit iffy on them though.

think its just an ongoing chest infection they havent been very to the point and im getting different things from every angle headds fried but hes getting sucktion and muckusy bloody stuff is being sucked out and hes still weezing at times. basically one person is saying ongoing chest ifection andther is saying because he has reflux his milk is prob coming up and into his lungs without actually coming up iykwim. then hv is saying that 120 mls isnt enough for him as he was taking 240mls but they say its right for his weight but he was dropping weight when he was taking 240mls. i know the reclining chair is terrible the worst was after getting hardly any sleep every morning they come in at 7am and say im taking this chair away now so i stand up still half asleep and confused as they take my bed away then i spend the rest of the day trying not to dose off. i dosed off when i got home and dp cracked up at me because he was getting ready to go to the hosp

tasha22 · 02/05/2008 09:06

james- that was ds2 phoning you thismorning im so sorry. hope he didnt waken you or james.

lo never took any bottle feeds through the night but he never took bottle feeds through the night. i use to try giving him them to help him put on weight but he never took them and i dont think he should stay in hospital because they changed his routine. i cant take this anymore its like SCBU all over again-trying to get him to take bottles. i want my wee man home and i know they wont let him today

tasha22 · 02/05/2008 11:03

i think hes getting home today!!!

Meandmyjoe · 02/05/2008 11:23

Great, hope he gets home and everything improves, it must be awful for you and your poor little man.

Joe's is still being a git re soilids, not sure why he's suddenly started being like it other than his teeth but I'm relying upon finger foods rather heavily!

I think a bit of separation anxiety is creeping in as last night he woke up at 1am and just wanted to cuddle. Maybe his teeth woke him up and he just needed reassirance, not sure but it's a bit of a shock to the system when he has consistantly slept through since 10 weeks so we are knackered today! Ahh well, just a phase, just a phase (must keep repeating that to myself!)

Let us know how lo is Tasha, remember to take care of yourself, it's tiring enough being pregnant without all this to worry about. x

GillL · 02/05/2008 12:36

Hello. Sorry to hear your lo was so poorly. Great news he might come home today You must be so exhausted.

Pink - It's so cute watching them commando crawl. If I put my arms out to ds when he's on the floor he grins and drags himself over as fast as he can.

I'm very unimaginitive with ds's dinners. I don't have much time to cook so he gets the same things all the time which I make in bulk. They are fish in cheese sauce with potato, carrot and broccoli, pasta bolognese, sweet potato, leek and pea and chicken/pork with random veg. If he ate with us then he'd get a bit more variety but he has his dinner between 4 and 5 and we don't eat til at least 7 when he's gone to bed. Also, dh refuses to cook without salt so he can't have what we eat anyway. I don't puree or mash anymore. I just make sure the food is soft enough for ds to squash with his gums (as he still has no teeth) or small enough just to swallow.

my2weegirls - both my dcs love banana. Dd would eat several a day if she had the chance. She is also completely obsessed with eggs, especially omlettes (takes after her dad).

James - are you around? My mum's just started Slimming World but we're doing a birthday dinner for her on Sunday. I was wondering if you had any ideas for puddings that would fit in. She said that she would be on a red day but I don't know how sweet foods fit into the diet.

I'll be around at some point on Monday if anyone wants to chat. I'll be at work between 1pm and 8pm Dh is not too pleased that he'll be doing bed time. He tends to avoid it most nights. He'll probably take the kids to his dad's/sister's/nan's and then drive back late so they fall asleep in the car.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 02/05/2008 20:48

Hi guys, sorry I've not been around, but been busy, out, and then yesterday I had a grotty headache which wouldn't shift with regular paracetamol so I took a couple of Syndol tablets, which did work but left me REALLY drowsy today, so much so that I nodded off on the sofa while James was pottering about on the floor, and he pulled his folded babywalker that was propped against the far wall onto himself, it hit him square on the forehead, poor little thing, I felt so guilty.

In better news, I won a mumsnet competition yesterday! I added two entries to Mumsnet Local, without realising that by adding an entry you automatically enter yourself into a comp to win tippitoes goodies. I won a pushchair, a babywalker and a growth chart, which was a lovely surprise! Thanks MN!

Tasha I've lost my phone (it's somewhere in the house but it's on mute so I can't phone it grr) so didn't hear ds2 calling, don't worry! Glad lo is coming home, sorry it's been such a stressful time for you, give him a hug from us.

Can't remember anything I was gonna say now, bum... oh, slimming world for gill- well, you could make a slimming world style Eton Mess with chopped strawberries, crushed meringues and muller light yoghurt? I'll have a look on the SW website in a minute and report back. SW isn't going well for me at the moment, I'm sabotaging myself as I'm really not in the mood to do it right now, I've eaten about 100 biscuits today, just not in the right frame of mind! Due on any time so maybe that's it.
