hi, i'm at dads at the moment so just a quick post

my2weegirls-callum hates banana too and has drama king moments similar to your wee one

tasha-glad lo is getting better and hope he's home today

everyone else hope all lo's are ok and you have a good weekend.

helibee · 02/05/2008 23:18

ooh conkertree do you do kilts in any tartan? we want to get Callum one in the thistle dubh tartan like dh has

helibee · 02/05/2008 23:30

James-sorry you've been poorly, hope you're feeling better now. The recepie sounds yummy, i'll try that next week, have you tried the melting chocolate pudding, is it any good? Well done on winning your comp-thats great

meandmyjoe-Callum's not a great eater, he just picks at things-is joseph crawling forwards yet?

pinkranger-glad your wee one didn't get SF. Callum has 3 teeth bulging ready to cut at the top and they're really hurting him so i sympathise with you and your wee one teething.

Gill-i should be around at some point on mon for a chat-we'll leave dads (in Romford) early eve on sun so should get back home in the early hours.

GillL · 03/05/2008 08:11

Sorry to hear about your headache James. It's hard looking after lo's when you're not well. I've not tried syndol. I might have to give it a go if it's better than paracetamol. Anadin xtra works but doesn't agree with my stomach. I once fell aseep when dd was a baby and woke up to an entire box of tissues strewn across the living room floor. I also woke up to ds screaming the other day after he rolled off my bed

Thanks for the recipe. The awesome apple crumble sounds good. Could you get the recipe please?

Well done on the comp btw

Look forward to chatting on Monday if you can make it helibee. Hope Callum's teeth appear soon.

thanks James-are you feeling better now?

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 03/05/2008 15:09

Yeah good thanks! Manged to replace my headache for a bit of a hangover this morning but feeling fine now.

James woke up with a big purple lower lip this morning! I panicked and started a thread on it but have come to the conclusion now that it was probably just a bang.

Good luck with the puds, girls!

shrinkingsagpuss · 03/05/2008 15:11

just a quickie - DS lives on bananas, and I was hoping Evie would be the saem.. but she's another one for the gagging on them variety..... how funny that so many seem to not like them!1

My2Weegirls · 03/05/2008 20:11

my dd2 is at A&E with a possible green stick fracture of her arm . dp has been there with her since 4.30 and they are saying it could be another 80min before she is seen . he's not allowed to feed her anything so she's not very happy.

dd1 tripped and fell on her this morning - and she's not put any weight on it since. she kept wanting to crawl but as soon as she put her hand on the ground she wails. i'm hoping it's just staved.

tasha did youre wee one get home?

james - it looks to me like he's been sucking on his lip

a pigeon keeps flying into my patio doors - it's done it 3 times in the past hour

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 03/05/2008 21:23

Oh shit, my2weegirls, sorry to hear that. Has she been seen yet? and here's me worrying about a fat lip... that's all you need, isn't it? poor little thing. Hope it isn't fractured.

OP posts:
JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 04/05/2008 13:25

My2weegirls, how's dd2? Was it a fracture after all hope she's ok.

I think I know why the fat lip happened... it was a BITE! because WE HAVE A TOOTH AT LAST! I just noticed it, it's on the bottom, looks like it's only just cut in the last couple of days. I needn't have called NHSdirect after all lol

OP posts:
tasha22 · 04/05/2008 13:57

oh my2weegirls how is she?? i hope shes ok and she didnt have to wait too much longer. thats terrible especially such a young child in pain.

james lol and yay for the tooth!

gill how did the dinner go?

lo is home but not feeding too well he has to see dietician on friday to see if he needs tube fed at home. he wont let me hold him and feed him he has to be lying down and even then i have to pretend im putting his dummy in and sneek his bottle in he takes a couple of mouthfulls and realises but think hes catching on to that now as thismorning he wasnt falling for it and i had to syringe feed him. yesterday he went 16 hours without a feed! hes only taking small amounts and yesteday vomitted up a full bottle(90mls)

hope you all had a good weekend im off up to mums for a bit but ill pop on later to see how the wee woman is.

My2Weegirls · 04/05/2008 14:11

it's fractured. though we didn't find out till DP took her back to A&E this morning and they actually x-rayed it this time. he's just on his way home just now.

I'm furious! A&E sent her home last night saying that she must just think it's still sore and will be fine after a good nights sleep.

james - yeah on the tooth!

tashsa - glad your wee one is home though i hope his feeding picks up. that's good about the dietician on friday. sorry if i've missed if you've posted about it but have they ruled out the cystic fibrosis?

shrinkingsagpuss · 04/05/2008 14:12

charming little blighters.

Glad Lo is home Tasha. You poor things have really been through the mill.

My2weegirls -ah bless, hope she's home and either plastered or ok. We've had so many near misses with DS landing v close to DD, and he nearl knocked an iron poker over on her head a few months ago.... I could jsut see us explaining that at A&E!!

shrinkingsagpuss · 04/05/2008 14:13

ah. Crossed posts. Sorry about the break. A&E can be useless. If its only a greenstick it mgiht have been hard to spot.. mind you, if they'd x rayed it fisrt time... . poor little thing, did she have a rough night?

My2Weegirls · 04/05/2008 14:23

she was so shattered and hungry (as she hadn't anything since lunchtime and of course they wouldn't let her eat) by the time she got home it was food, calpol and bed. but everytime she moved she cried out and was up at 2.30 for some milk and then up at 6am. i think it was an SHO that saw her and who checked with the registrar before they sent her home last night.

i suppose to given them benefit of doubt it is unusual for babies to break bones.

i've bought her a cuddly tombliboo for chew/shake/slaver on.

tasha22 · 04/05/2008 17:35

thats terrible they should have xrayed her the first time they shouldnt just think hmm its not very likley and send her home. have they given her something stronger for the pain? hope she isnt in too much pain poor wee woman.

he had a blood test im assuming they checked him for CF aswell and it came back clear i just had to syringe feed him again. his chest sounds a hell of a lot better so i dont understand why hes not taking his bottle. could he be traumatised about the sucktion thing going down his nose and the food tube???

james forgot to say congrats on winning the competition what a lovely surprise for you

mamamila · 04/05/2008 18:25

oh my goodness!

just hi to everyone, and hope poor weegirl not in too much pain, jesus how can they let a young baby wait for so long with a possible fracture? and not x-raying. is it plastered? how long will it need to heal?

and good luck to you tasha as always!

things all fun n fine here, mila's eating loads but still waking for feeds every 2 hours from 7.30 bed until 6.30am up...yawwwn

Meandmyjoe · 04/05/2008 19:10

Oh Tasha, great that he's home! Sorry he's still not feeding well. I hope the dietician is able to help you somehow cos you must be so worried about it all.

My2weegirls, I can't believe they didn't check for a fracture or break the first time! Your poor little lass, hope she's soon on the mend.

Joseph's next tooth is finally through He is eating normally again now so I'm much happier.

Bless him, he's getting a proper little smile full of teeth now!

James- just to say that my ds woke up with a purple/blackish lip once, it was the same day we found his first tooth so I just assumed he'd bit himself! He cut his toungue on it that day too He's used to them now though so hopefully no more cuts or bites!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 04/05/2008 23:37

My2weegirls, sorry it's fractured, I can't believe they didn't xray it last night when they probably have a waitingroom full of pissheads and timewasters- fancy assuming you were making a big deal out of nothing, your poor dp wouldn't have sat there all evening with her if he thought there was nothing wrong. I mean, you'd think they'd be extra careful to check with a baby since they can't tell you what's wrong. Hope she's feeling better soon, give her a kiss from us lot.

Tasha, glad he's home love- perhaps he just needs time to readjust to normal feeding after the tube etc. Glad to hear the lungs are sounding better, it's been so stressful for you recently. How are you feeling?

Knickers, are you about? How are you doing now, have you seen the last of your morning sickness?

Helibee and Gill, how did the puds go? Is your mum enjoying the SW diet, Gill?

Meandmyjoe, yay on the teeth! How many has he got now? I wish you'd been around yesterday to tell me not to flap and fuss about the purple lip, I felt like a right prat after calling nhsdirect about it, only to find out he'd bitten it with his new peggy, what am I like???

Mamamila I don't know how you cope with all that sleep deprivation, kudos to you, I think I'd be a state.

Conker, congrats on the kilt thing, are you enjoying making them? You'll have to post some pics of your work, bet you could get a few orders from MN.

Sagpuss, how's your lo getting on at nursery now? settling in ok?

Pink, how are you doing these days, hon? Hope things are better between you and your dh. Glad it wasn't SF by the way, these teeth are more trouble than they're worth sometimes!

Hersetta, you said once you were thinking of putting Caitlin forward for baby modelling, did you do it in the end? She's certainly a cutie.

Kinki, bogwoppit, elenorigby, loler, tokentotty, uki, leifmum, buggymad, onepieceoflollipop and any of our less prolific posters who I have been rubbish and forgotten to mention- hope all is well and your babies are keeping you busy and happy! Give us an update if you're lurking, it's always lovely to hear from you guys!!!

OP posts:
JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 05/05/2008 00:28

Pink you were asking about dinner ideas for when they're eating less purees etc:

Jacket potato, baked beans and cheese.

Mashed potato served in small grape sized balls, peas, sweetcorn, fishfingers or any other fish except fresh tuna as I'm not sure about the mercury levels. Mash is always a good quick option, I just chuck a medium sized spud in the microwave for about 3 or 4 min, then squish it with the back of a spoon, peel off the skin and mash the flesh with a bit of butter. Those steamfresh bags of veggies are good, too. I love my microwave.

Alphabetti spaghetti (only got 0.3 grams of salt per 100g iirc) or low salt baked beans (0.4g) on toast served as finger food, it's messy but he LOVES it. I drain off most of the sauce though. Could make it eggy bread to add protein and omega 3.

Roasted veg pasta sauce with pasta shells which hold the sauce well. I left the roasted veg cubes quite big, and they were soft enough to chew but tough enough for him to pick up. Will add tuna next time for a protein boost.

He shared my tuna melt baguette the other day in a cafe, he loves anything if it's covered in cheese. If I made it at home I'd go easy on the mayo for him, and add finely chopped tomato or give cherry tomatoes on the side. Ham n cheese toastie?

Boiled egg and soldiers. Scrambled egg? Spanish omlette or frittata? Homemade salmon and broccoli quiche? J won't eat eggs, shame as they're a quick nutritious meal.

Tonight he had rice, a couple of pieces of quorn in curry sauce, poppadom and mango chutney (he loved that, what a mess though, it's like glue!) naan bread, yoghurt and strawberries.

A lot of the time though he just has a mishmash of whatever unsalted stuff we're having- usually something along the lines of steamed veg, pasta, and cheese- as long as he can pick it up he's happy! Sorry I've waffled on, as usual, hope this has given you a few ideas.

Sorry i haven't been around much.

Tasha i glad your lo back home, i hope you get the feeding sorted quickly.

My2weegirls, I hope lo arm gets better quickly. has she got a cast.

I am of all your lo with teeth, Lexie has just got 2 large lumps waiting for her teeth to come through.

I come back later as someone stinks . Have to go out to take mum to my grandad's as he is poorly again.

tasha22 · 05/05/2008 09:22

hey all the mention of teeth has brought another one down of lo's and it in a real awkward place for the wee man(possibly the answer to his feeding??) up at the top were he had the cleft lip he has some of his gum missing but still the same amount of teeth and his new addition has come down just as his gum splits iykwim.

james im just feeling sick and tierd and starting to show. have my first booking in apointment with MW on wed now looking forward to giving the 6 tubes of blood, youd think id be well used to it by now.

im completely lost i usually go to mums and tods on a monday but with it being bank holiday im not sure its on.

ok that was very me me me ill be back on soon just gonna get dressed as im sitting here in my jammies

Meandmyjoe · 05/05/2008 10:20

Hi all,

sorry James, I would have reassured you about the lip if I'd have known but if it's any consolation I phoned NHS direct too who were a bit useless to be honest!

Joe has 4 teeth now, not that many but it seems strange when he smiles cos a month ago he had none!

Tash, your poor little man, I wonder if that might be the reason he was refusing food. Joe is a complete ass with food when he's teething! It could be related to his chest problems though, I'm sure the dietician and doctors will soon help. How is he sleeping now he's off his food? Does he seem miserable/ poorly in the day? It must be so hard for you to feel so helpless and I am sending you lots of sympathy (which I know is useless when you feel like this!) I really hope it works out soon but in the mean time feel free to be as me me me as you want, that's whet mnet is here for!

Best be off cos ds is watching his baby einstein dvd with dh and I like watching him, he gets so engrossed in it!
