hey jammy.....someone to talk to

DS fine, after the initial shock had worn off, he was more concerned with people laughing at him than anything else, and it suited his drama queen tendencies! What surprised me more was that people could see us struggling with it all...I was following behing DH carrying a scooter, two rucsacs, a pile of wet muddy clothes and some wellies, and not one person asked if we needed a help!

your lunch sounds lovely. Was it an occasion? Pooh to the people not pleased at being next to a baby. This country is rubbish where families and eating out are concerned.

We got a great response from the waiters at the Indian restaurant the other week where babyboo was tucking in to naan bread and chicken korma.

and she quite often gets the same pudding as us; ice-cream is a particular favourite

milkyJammy · 17/02/2008 10:52

It's DH's birthday on Tuesday, so we met up with my brother and went out for lunch.

Glad DS is OK. SHame no one offered to help, but that sounds typical unfortunately.

Back in a bit, off to scour Amazon for something that C can get DH for his birthday [disorganised mummy]

milkyJammy · 17/02/2008 11:09

Sorted! Three cheers for internet shopping

LardyMardyDaisyBoo · 17/02/2008 11:51

jammy, what size wraps is dd wearing? and what weight is she?

I'm toying with the idea of trying my real nappies again, but she's a lot bigger obviously and I'm not sure whether I'll need bigger wraps.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 17/02/2008 12:13

Coooeee ladies!

Daisy, your poor ds! Hope he is ok and didn't get too cold or frightened.

Oooo, could there be another Babyboo? How exciting! It's about time we had a new baby to look forward to (as long as it's not me that's pg!)

I'm getting pissed off with my nappies. I think I need some aios. Two parters are a farking nightmare with ds as he can't stay still for more than 2 secs, so it takes me forever to get nappies on him. Also he has really chubby thighs, so the PUL wraps dig into his legs and cause big red lines to appear on his skin. I don't know what to get though. I think fury and mhc said they were having leaking probs with their beloved Bumgenius.

Glad you had a lovely lunch jammy. Sounds wonderful! Bit shitty about the booster seat though, can you take it back?

I am painting a table for dd today. My mum's school were throwing out a load of old wooden children's tables and she rescued a load for me. So far I have sanded and painted an undercoat on it. Dd wants me to paint it pink with fairies on (what a surprise)! Hopefully I'll have it finished by the end of the day. If it's any good I'll do a boyish one for ds and maybe do the rest of them to sell.

Dp started giving up smoking yesterday and he is like a bear with a sore head. He is really grumpy and can't stay awake. Hopefully he can do it this time, the last 3426567 he has given up he restarted again!

Woah...long post!!

LardyMardyDaisyBoo · 17/02/2008 12:18

hey holly

i like the new name btw; can't remeber if i told you that already

well done on the creative front. My projects never quite get past the planning stage at the minute.

I should be off doing something useful now, but it's so rarely I get any time on here these days (DD asleep, DS in the garden with DH measuring up for our raised veg bed) that I'm enjoying the peace and quiet.

Not sure about another babyboo on the horizon. Part of me thinks it'll be a good idea, the other part is scared shit witless . I have until this evening to get me to a chemist for the MAP......

LardyMardyDaisyBoo · 17/02/2008 12:23

oh, and a Q for anyone who did the whole temp/counting days/ttc thing.....how long after possible ovulation can i do a pg test? as cycle still pretty erratic, I'm not sure when i would've been due.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 17/02/2008 12:27

No idea on the ovulation thingy, dp and I are very fertile! Two missed pills = two very lovely surprises!! Hope you get the outcome you want x

I should be doing some housework, but table painting is much more fun!

Guess I'd better go and make some lunch then do the topcoat of paint!

Peace and love x

milkyJammy · 17/02/2008 12:46

Hi again. C is currently in soze 1 tots bots wraps, and I think size 1 tots bots nappies (we were given them so not 100% sure but I think they must be size 1), but they are all getting a bit snug. We are getting the same thing with red marks round chubby thighs. About to get a load of wraps and nappies in a bigger size. She's about 19lb and depending on where I look it says TB size 1 are suitable to 18 or 20 lb, so it seems reasonable that they're a bit snug on her. We are getting some leaking at night, when she wears bum huggers and the size 1 wraps are a bit too small to fit nicely over them, so often have wet pj bottoms come morning.

I've mailed the booster seat manufacturer to see what they have to say, and if get no joy from them will just try to get a refund from Toys R Us where we got it from. It's ridiculous if the straps don't fit an 8 month old when they are meant to fit up to a 4 year old!

milkyJammy · 17/02/2008 12:57

I thought that ovulation to start of period was always about 14 days, regardless of length of cycle, so surely 14 days after when you think you ovulated would be right for testing?

LardyMardyDaisyBoo · 17/02/2008 13:00

Jammy, I might be selling some of my nappies if you are interested. Some have only had a few washes and aren't even up to optimum absorbancy yet!

milkyJammy · 17/02/2008 13:08

Oooh, possibly Daisy. Can you email with details? [email protected]

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 17/02/2008 13:16

Hi all

daisy, poor ds. hope he is ok. he can dine out on that story for a while! at your dh diving into the lake without wellies. and I think you know i'm not talking about rescuing ds

milkyJammy · 17/02/2008 13:17

hi Bumper

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 17/02/2008 13:18

I'm in the process of making a handbag btw!

milkyJammy · 17/02/2008 13:19

Knitting?

LardyMardyDaisyBoo · 17/02/2008 13:31

pmsl laughing bumper. I'd love to tell that to DH but he might just be a tad miffed at me discussing this on here

jammy, I'll sort them out tonight and let you know what I've got!

Off to the cinema with DS...I'll see you all later!

annobal · 17/02/2008 14:55

Hi everyone, we're just back (late last night) from Manc. Just finished cleaning the outdoor play centre I have for sale on ebay. It is going for an insane amount of money - it is really not worth it and I'm a bit about it. Hence spending an hour cleaning it. Admittedly it looks a bit better now.

Bumper, I have some lovely (and easy) baby patterns if you want them...

Right, off to do more jobs...

annobal · 17/02/2008 15:17

Not that there is anything wrong with knitting a handbag though

annobal · 17/02/2008 15:22

Daisy, I think it is the day your period is due - some you can test a few days before.

milkyJammy · 17/02/2008 15:47

When we were little, my mum and sunties would knit bags for me, my sister and our female cousins to keep our hankies in (girls clothes never having pockets). When I was of 6th form age I knitted myself a bigger version, and used it as a handbag. I loved it (and so did a couple of friends) until I found a drawback - it wasn't at all waterproof, which was a big disadvantage when I had some tampax in it one night. A drink got spilt on my bag, the tampax got all soggy, and I spent the next half hour asking every female in the place if they had any spare I could use

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 17/02/2008 15:56

Annobal that would be great. I'll email you my address.

Not knitting a bag, hand sewing one [smug icon]. I have some purple velvet from a dress I got from a charity shop and I am making an evening bag with ruffles. I've got interfacing and everything (the stuff that stiffens material). I'm actually really enjoying it, and we didn't have the tv on or anything last night. Unfortunately DD is still going through her clingy stage and is crying every time I put her down.

milkyJammy · 17/02/2008 16:00

Bag making sounds good Bumper. i'm not at creative in that way, though I do do home made cards, and have dne cross stitch in the past, and want to get started again.

foxythesnowman · 17/02/2008 16:53

'lo all.

Very impressed with your creativeness
Bumper!

Daisy, did you make the trip to the chemist?

Well someone has to have a baby next - and it ain't going to be me!

(Despite the fact that I had two very iffy vertical lines on two tests, but Clearblue assure me that they are negatives and sent me two digital tests which have both been negative). Boy, what a week I've had!

foxythesnowman · 17/02/2008 17:00

I'm off to install our new bird boxes. The fun never ends
