Nights are hard at the moment! Leo is sleeping loads in the day and is super restless and wanting to feed at night! 😭 I’m hoping he’ll figure out that it should be the other way around soon! 😅

Moominmiss · 13/09/2021 13:20

I’m not sure whether I’ve updated on this thread or not. I’ve sort of lost track lol.

Dexter was born at 37+4 on 3rd September at 9.50am, weighing 7lb 5oz by elective section.

We were discharged from hospital the next day around 5pm.

He’s 10 days old now and just a dream. His cord fell off on day 8. He only lost 7% of his birth weight which was fab.

I breasted initially but switched to formula a couple of days ago. I only ever planned to feed myself for the first week and then wanted to switch so that my partner can be more involved. Plus I just find breastfeeding way more stressful.

It’s crazy to think he’s been here 10 days already and yet I wouldn’t even be due yet! (Due date was 20th)!!

Bubbles1st · 13/09/2021 13:50

@crobo87 Lorenzo is actually a dream at night, I have to set an alarm to make sure he doesn't go beyond 4 hours....

He likes to cluster feed from tea time until bed time and then I'm just up once with him in the night and then after he feeds in the morning about 6/7 I usually get a lie in too.

Not going to lie, feel very lucky and hoping it continues, he is a very chilled and content baby and I'll be in for a shock when the sleep regressions and teething hits later down the line!

AdventuresAwait · 13/09/2021 14:16

I'm the same @Bubbles1st! A few cluster feeds in the evening and then I have to set a 3 hour alarm during the night to feed her. Also feeling that we might get a shock when things change as she's so chilled at the moment! Xx

crobo87 · 13/09/2021 18:38

Is anyone else suffering from post partum sweats.....wow they are savage lol

Bubbles1st · 13/09/2021 20:10

@crobo87 yup for sure...: literally dripping when I wake up

Kirky658 · 13/09/2021 20:17

@crobo87 yep I had them really bad for about a week post the birth!

I wish my bleeding had stopped. It has tailed off now and just brown spotting rarely but I've been here before with it...

I survived my first day home alone with Alice today ❤️

KHR1 · 13/09/2021 21:17

@crobo87 yes!!! Wake up feeling vile, my hear dripping. The breast feeding woman actually commented on it in hospital and I was mortified.

@Kirky658 glad your first day joke alone with Alice went well, can be so nerve wracking!

Bleeding has slowed down a bit today after being really heavy but my episiotomy stitches are so sore now, not sure if they are coming apart and it's not exactly an easy place to check

AdventuresAwait · 13/09/2021 21:31

Yes to the sweats @crobo87!

Well done @Kirky658! Xx

Scotti84 · 14/09/2021 12:03

@KHR1 my stitches feel a bit strange too, I'm not sure how its supposed to feel, but its a bit like bruised. Midwife asked me if i had looked but i dont really want to, incase its awful and puts me off having another one!

KHR1 · 14/09/2021 15:20

@Scotti84 yeah, bruisedbis a good way of describing it. I remember thinking there was something wrong with my stitches after DC1 (can't remember what/why) but they ended up being fine so don't know if I'm just being paranoid. I tried to have a look last night but have no idea what they should look like. They seem less sore today though so hoping that's a good sign

Kirky658 · 15/09/2021 07:40

Morning all. Hope everyone is well! Today's Alice's original due date so a bittersweet feeling today she's currently zzzzing on my knee 😊 we went to the health visitor yesterday and she's gone from the 9th centile to the 25th in a week, she was 25th centile at birth so she's back to where she should be now weighing a very healthy 6lb6 😍

AdventuresAwait · 15/09/2021 08:52

@Kirky658, yay, well done Alice! Xx

Squibble84 · 15/09/2021 12:31

Good job Alice and mama @Kirky658!

Mamabearwhere · 15/09/2021 15:15

Hi ladies! So excited to join this thread finally!! My little man was born yesterday morning at speed of light, we almost didn’t make it to the hospital from the hospital car park but thankfully all was fine. We came home same day and have been enjoying the amazing new born bubble.

I wondered if anyone else got post labour pains and what have you taken for it? Mine are excruciating this time round (3rd baby) and I def don’t remember it this painful. Midwife said it gets worse with each pregnancy but it feels like I’m in labour the contractions are so intense. They said to take ibuprofen but it’s not cutting it.

Scotti84 · 15/09/2021 20:08

Congrats @Mamabearwhere and welcome to the other side! Good to hear it went quick and you could get home with him the same day.

Sorry to hear about the pains, i have some but not so bad so not sure what to suggest. Maybe ask in the chemist or at your gp?

How are people doing with breastfeeding? Lilly has been eating nearly non stop this week, its exhausting! Trying to feed myself between has not been easy, ive forgot what hot food tastes like 😅

AdventuresAwait · 16/09/2021 06:09

@Scotti84, we're generally doing well with breast feeding. Hettie feeds about every 2.5 to 3 hours. She is putting weight on and has passed her birth weight so all looking good. My only issue is it can be painful when she latches on one side (though only for a couple of seconds) & it looks as though I might have a blocked milk duct so have started doing some massage to try and clear it.
Hoping that is OK soon but, on the whole, so pleased with how she's feeding.

AdventuresAwait · 16/09/2021 06:12

Saying that @Scotti84, currently up feeding and she wants more! I think it may be the growth spurt they told us about at this point.

KHR1 · 16/09/2021 11:54

Finding Zach still falls asleep really quickly every time he breastfeeds. I'm not convinced he gets a lot out as he will latch for about 20mins then want a feed again 15-20 minutes later. I can see milk in the shield when he comes off so something is coming out

Squibble84 · 16/09/2021 16:22

@KHR1 Leo is similar with his feeding - he never has a long one. He’s having plenty of wet and dirty nappies though and he’s already grown out of the sleep suit he was wearing in the hospital so he’s definitely getting plenty!

The last 48 hours have been horrific - we’ve all had norovirus, I came down with it first, then DH and DD were vomiting all night. Feel like I’ve been hit by a bus today. Apart from a gurgly stomach, Leo seems to have avoided it thank god!

KHR1 · 16/09/2021 16:44

@Squibble84 that makes me feel better! Plenty of wet and dirty nappies here too but we have a lot of expressed bottles alongside the BF so might be from those. Hope you all feel better soon, norovirus sounds horrendous

KHR1 · 16/09/2021 19:42

So after last feed I pumped (read it was recommended if using a shield to make sure milk is emptied out) the side Zach fed on for longest didn't really produce anything and the one he fell asleep on pumped about 3oz, do you think this means he actually drunk a decent amount out the first side?

Squibble84 · 16/09/2021 19:57

I’d say that sounds like he got a decent amount! Leo always falls asleep on the first boob, I can never keep him awake long enough to offer him the other side!

Kirky658 · 17/09/2021 07:16

@khr1 as I'm exclusively pumping I tend to get about 3oz per express, they say babies are more effective at removing the milk so he's probably had a decent feed x

KHR1 · 17/09/2021 12:50

Thanks @Kirky658 and @Squibble84 he definitely seems to have had a few good feeds the last day or so, think he's getting the hang of it
