@Kirky658 I'll give a little Eddie update here.

He had his first bath today, if his temp remains stable they'll move him out of his heated cot tonight/tomorrow.

We haven't made much progress feeding. He'd only be 34+2 if I was still pregnant so that'll probably take a little longer for him than it will for Alice.

I've had enough, going home every night is heartbreaking. Some days you walk out holding in tears, others I feel ok and then feel so guilty for feeling ok. Its a lot.

He's doing well but he so young it'll be at least another couple of weeks which is an exhausting thought.

My birth was a terrifyingly quick natural labour, I've recovered pretty well. Just a few stitches and some swelling. I am grateful that at least I don't need to worry about me.

GWhiteley · 03/09/2021 01:04

Hi, had my little one arrive on Wednesday (1st). How's everyone doing that's had theirs relating to feeding & bleeding & any pain?

JasVL · 03/09/2021 02:02

Hi @GWhiteley, congratulations!

I had a c section on the 29th August, bleeding was really heavy for the first couple of days but seems to have virtually stopped now. Not sure if it's anything to do with the c section and where everything is suctioned out. I was expecting the bleeding to be horrific but it really hasn't been at all.

This is day 5 now and I'm still in pain but I'm able to do most things. Drs said that I can't lift anything heavier than Amelia, I struggled for the first few days but am now managing to pick her up.

The feeding situation has been a nightmare! She was in nicu as she wasn't feeding at all, while she was in there they tried her on all different formulas and the only one she would take and keep down was SMA. I was planning on breastfeeding right from the beginning so it was quite disheartening but I just thought I'd rather keep her on SMA so we know she's being fed and how much she is having.

The midwifes did suggest that I put her on the boob just before a feed and see if she will accept it then we can just top up with formula - we've been doing this for the last 2 days and I'm now finding milk is pouring out of me!!

I have no idea how to manage it, just end up sticking a breast pad on but by then it's too late and my top is soaked!!

How are you getting on?

GWhiteley · 03/09/2021 02:32

Hi @JasVL , congratulations to you too. I ended up having a spinal tap & assisted forceps delivery as she was on her side & I have compound scoliosis & it turned out the pain in my back was so excruciating I couldn't push & deal with the pain. Turns out I would have needed help anyway.

We are on day one & although the midwives are happy with my hold of her, she is struggling to latch. I think some of it is that it takes my boobs a few goes before any comes out & I think she gets bored. She also uses my nipple as a soother & will fall asleep! However, I have been managing to hand pump it out, and so she has been having that instead. I'm looking forward to the milk coming in, not the added complications though. Have stayed an extra night & got moved wards & im glad I did as this midwife has given me better advice on when I should be trying to feed her, whereas as there were more women in the other ward it was a bit more slap dash.

It's not just the blood I've had problems with, my bladder control seems to have given up the ghost! embarrassingly I've wet myself twice before I could make it to the toilet. So I now force myself to go once an hr or so, as I'm finding it hard to know if I need the toilet.
Blood wise, it's manageable, but more than I expected.

How are you getting on sleep wise? At least with the feeding you do know she's getting what she needs right now.

Kirky658 · 03/09/2021 07:34

Following 😍 panicking as Alice has a really snuffly nose at the moment. We are still trying to breastfeed, using the nipple shield but I find expressing and giving bottles so much easier. My milk supply dried up a bit after my second covid jab last weekend but is returning to normal now thank god. Hope everyone is well x

Noodles4Me · 03/09/2021 09:31

Hello all. My boy is 15 days old today. I'm no longer combined feeding as it was so painful and I couldn't keep up with his demand - was pumping as he wouldn't suck hard enough! He's gaining weight beautifully and midwife will discharge him Monday.

Selfishly, so glad my body back to normal now - belly gone, boobs normal. Bleeding was not too bad but gone too as he was a section. Going to try driving later.

I do miss getting more than 2 hours sleep in one go though! Sad

Kirky658 · 03/09/2021 09:41

@Noodles4Me my boobs are still a decent size but I'm expressing 7 times a day! My belly has gone though - yay! But it feels so weird having had a bump for so long. My bleeding was also OK due to the section, but if I have a day where I do a lot it does start up again 😢 I'm 23 days post section now. Watch how you go with your driving - I'm not insured to drive till 6 weeks post partum. X
