Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
meep · 07/06/2008 12:51

hello swedes! Very of you having a baby that slept for 9 months!!!

MMN - hope you are having a fantastic day and that the sun is shining! (it's shining here and I am stuck at work catching up when I just want to be at home with minimeep ). Should maybe get off MN and get on with it so I can go home!

Congrats to Mr 2+1 - hooray!

Jennster - hoping you can say 5 days dry..............?

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 07/06/2008 15:10

Congratulations MMN have a great day an enjoy every minute we def want to see pics ( I love a good wedding!)

Would love to know what happens on the annual review, ours is the 17 July but we'e
not sure what they're going to do apart from pseudomonas antibody levels to see if we can stop the neb [fingers crossed emoticon]

We had clinic on thursday and Lydie has been really well she's jumped a centile which is a massive achievment and is now on the 25th centile (from between 2nd and 9th) Yeah!!!!!

2+1 well done to your DH and good luck with the move

Right now back to knocking down one wall and building a new one (sat here filthy dirty waiting for the "short sharp showers" to stop) we're (i'm) remodeling/ totally landscaping the garden and preping for our garage to be built, so preying for sun tommorrow to get some concrete down!

Oh well best not delay any longer

5 days and one accident in her cot, but she was calling us, and couldn't get out. I'm positive if she could have done she would have sat on the potty.

Ah but this is the second attempt. We weren't doing too bad back in March, and then dd got D&V and so it was back to nappies. It's so much easier with it being warmer now.

Hello all,
We have had a complete nightmare 2 weeks. DS had diarrhea for 6 whole days! We ran out of clothes and he ended up living in pj's (all of which I had to throw away, just kept thinking that 'the bug' was in them and wouldn't go away!). After 3 trips to the doctor he finally started to improve. He has lost a ton of weight which I'm really upset about. That said, he seems to be throwing as much food down his throat as he can now!!! Bless him.

DH caught the bug and so did the dog! (well, Im sure the dog had a bug all of his own but he had the same symptoms!).....So I spent most of hte last two weeks either at the vets at the doctors or in the bathroom!

Im hoping this week will be better than last!

2+1 I'm so thrilled for you and your DH. Huge congratulations to DH....does this mean he will spend more time at home?

Justabout, glad to hear that your problem has been resolved.

To everyone else who I haven't mentioned hope you are all well and that your little ones are loving life!

Myfairone · 10/06/2008 16:35

Anyone given any thought to the MMR vaccination yet? I have one friend doing singles and one doing combined....just throwing it out there to see what everyone else is doing.

JennsterSlugSlayer · 10/06/2008 16:40

Are you talking about the booster MFO, because dd had the first one at 13 months ish.

Think the evidence is flawed for the autism thing, and measles is a nasty disease to get if you aren't vaccinated. There aren't enough people being vaccinated to rely on 'herd immunity'

pulapula · 11/06/2008 07:02

MFO, Not really thought about the MMR as will just be doing it, as I did with DD. I will of course be looking for any changes in behaviour/ personality afterwards as I did with DD, even though I also think there was no evidence of a link between MMR and autism.

DS is now crawling at high speed and starting to pull up on things. He's growing up at a pace now- pointing and making little chatty sounds. He'll be 1 in 2 weeks time- can't believe it. We're having 2 parties - 1 on his birthday (a Thursday) with a few baby friends, and one on the following Saturday with all our family. Must clean the house and think about buying some food/drink!

pulapula · 11/06/2008 07:04

Oh and Justabout- you and your boys are welcome to come to Ben's party- 26 June at 3pm - can't remember if Thursdays are any good for you?

catstar · 11/06/2008 09:57

Hello All - getting very excited about approaching birthdays ! I need to find a recipe for an egg free cake for Little O to enjoy on her big day....

MFO - sounds like you have had a horrible time of it, but hope everyone on the road to recovery now, if a few pounds lighter!! Regarding MMR, I didn't consider not getting it done, but I didn't realise that the jab is egg based. As O is allergic to egg, the doctor has said we will have to make arrangements to get it done in hospital in a controlled environment.

2+1 - congrats to your DH! Which part of Germany will you be moving to? I only really know Munich, but have been to Dusseldorf too on business a few times.

Jennster - well done to DD on the potty training. This is another thing I am hoping the nursery will help with in a couple of years!

I'm loving all the little stories I get told about O at nursery (not the same as being there of course!). Apparently she's a bit of a chatterer and shouts through most of the day. She took off one of the girl's slippers while they were having a story and bit her toe and often steals food off the spoons of the younger babies! Makes me so proud !

Myfairone · 11/06/2008 13:22

hello all...

Catstar, I may be able to help with the egg free cake recipe. I have a ton of cook books at home for different allergies. will take a look and let you know.
Re the MMR and egg allergy, I was reading yesterday that its best done in hospital but the likelyhood of a problem is very slim.

I am definitely getting my LO vaccinated but just wanted to do a bit of research on it first (he has a milk allergy). I called St Thomas's hospital and was told that the milk allergy is no problem where MMR is concerned. I also looked into getting them done seperately. The only downside of it is that it takes longer for them to be fully vaccinated and with the amount of children that haven't been vaccinated the chances of getting measles etc is quite high.

Jennster, my LO was born at the end of July so Im talking about the first jab....you were an early bird with your LO if I remember correctly!

Looks like the summer has gone for now but can't say im hugely dissapointed as the commute into town on the trains has been just plain nasty!

big hugs to all

catstar · 11/06/2008 13:42

MFO - that would be great if there's one you can recommend - thanks!

I just got all soppy looking at birthday cakes and "1st Birthday" party plates and banners etc . Not easy to hide when you're sitting at your desk! It just got me thinking about how gorgeous Little O is and how she's changed our lives and brought out the best in me and DH ... Here I go again!!! I so want to do it all again - soon!!!

Went to see Sex and the City last night - first time at the cinema for 18 months!!! Cried like a baby through that too .

Catstar - I'll look for you tonight and let you know (what with me being a coeliac and LO being milk intolerant the birthday cakes are going to be interesting in our house!)

I too have gotten all gooey over the approaching 1st Birthday. To think that this time last year I had no idea how much my life would change and how enriched it would be by the arrival of my little boy! I look at him and I cannot describe the love I feel for him!

Tears are welling up and I am at my desk!

Gotta go!

meep · 11/06/2008 16:33

catstar - I feel exactly the same as you - a big soppy mess !!

Minimeep has reached clingon staus now - I can't cuddle any of my friends babies or she shuffles over and tries to get on my lap whilst wailing! It also means that I get cuddles again - and proper ones with little arms round my neck holding on - ah - just the best!

Her new found ability to move is causing sleep problems - she gets on her front, then she doesn't want to be on her front - wahhhhhh - she gets herself sitting then can't work out how to lie down - wahhhhhhhh!!! That was the story of my night last night - and today we have had NO NAPS!!!!

But she does almost have 4 teeth now and she isn't allergic to egg (first taste of scrambled eggs today!)

Hadn't thought about next set of jabs - what do they get at one?

JennsterSlugSlayer · 11/06/2008 20:36

MFO Oh dear. Ds was actually the end of July and was thinking of dd. I wasn't on an antenatal thread for her and I'm a little confused. I've been having rumblings of period pain but am wondering if I should take a pregnancy test.

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 12/06/2008 20:11

We did singles for dd1 but as I was working V expensive) and immunisation is more important for dd2 ( her CF)she will be getting the combined vaccine, also I feel that a little more is known now than then and as more children have had them they are less of an unknown,

Just realised it's dd2 b'day 1 month tomorrow where has the time gone and what a year!!!!! I realise that some of you a much sooner than this but still OMG!!! I still think of myself as not long postpartum which I don't really remember doing with dd1 but I'd stopped Bfing by now so that may have something to do with it, It's also a kind of excuse not to do anything about the baby weight ( she's only a baby!) but think that's really going to sound a little hollow soon!

Oh well off to do some deep thinking on "how I can fit Exercise into my life" ( yes it really does deserve a capital E)

love to you all Doris

madmarriedNika · 12/06/2008 20:42

Hello all! I'm back and I'm now a Mrs.!!
Our wedding on Saturday was just wonderful, couldn't have hoped for better weather, and the kids were soooo good- both were up with us during the ceremony as neither would want to stay in the audience, but both were completely quiet and let us get on with it and also looked v cute. As soon as I have photos will add them here! The day was a whirlwind but was brilliant to catch up with many friends albeit briefly and we just enjoyed it all so much. Did lots of dancing after the kids went to bed and still have blisters as proof that at my age one shouldn't dance so energetically after having been a hermit for so long!!

DD's CF review went pretty well on Monday, although involved LOTS of waiting around, most frustratingly for nearly 2 hours in x-ray where there were lots of poorly kids- and now DD has come down with a nasty bug BUT x-rays went well, chest is clear, she's made it onto the 50th centile for weight and slightly above that for height and so overall they are very happy- and we can stop the ventolin nebulisers (so now only use a neb once a day- which is great as she HATES them). The blood tests were fairly traumatic, very hard to find good veins so lots of digging around by the nurses & finally doctor (which 3 nurses and I held her down )- we get the results in a couple of weeks but her consultant seemed to think it's unlikely anything worrying will be found (they test vitamin levels, liver & kidney function plus an aspergillus screen over here)

Can't believe DD will be 1 in exactly 2 weeks! Where did that time go?! She's still not quite crawling but trying very hard and shuffling a bit too.... and still no teeth!!

2+1- great news about Mr 2+1s promotion!

Jennster- well done on the potty training- after my 4th attempt with DS he finally got it pretty quickly and now it's fab to be down to only changing 1 set of nappies!!

Went to DS's pre-school induction today...seems like no time since he was a 3lb tiny baby on a ventilator- now he's often mistaken for being 4.... treasure every minute ladies it really flies by.

Must get some sleep as madam not settling at night really and needed LOTS of concealer under my eyes at the wedding!!
xxx
