OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Myfairone · 27/05/2008 13:36

Justabout I am so sorry to hear that you have been having problems...hope you come back soon.

Twoplusone - Enjoy the rest of time with your man. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you to only have him there for such a short time.

Pula - My DS wasn't able to pincer grip the smarties she put in front of him but he seems to be getting better at it now becuase he is forever picking up bits from the carpet! Note to self: HOOVER MORE FREQUENTLY!

DS is crawling with lightening speed everywhere now! He seems to enjoy being told NO and seems to have a real temper on him when I try and pull him away from whatever it is he is doing. He has also started cruising around the furniture too. We have our hands full now!

Cakehead · 28/05/2008 17:52

Hey everyone, just checking in after a few months away. We've moved house in the meantime and it's lovely to catch up with everyone.

My LO isn't moving yet, despite the first birthday being just four weeks away now. She rocks backwards and forwards and sometimes I think she'll take off she's flapping her arms with such frustration. And no teeth, either. Her big sister walked at 10 months but didn't get teeth until nearly one and a half, so I guess all these things happen in their own time....

MelissaM · 29/05/2008 14:09

Hi Everyone. Sorry not been on for a while but manic here!

DD crawling v fast, and cruising. She's into everything. She can stand on her own too without holding on to anything and has taken a few steps on her own. I am sure she can't be far away from walking properly (but then I've been saying that since she took her first solo steps a month ago). She's also decided she doesn't like the hoover any more so whenever i try to clean up she ends up clinging to my leg (v sweet but means I can only get things done when she's asleep limiting my internet time considerably).

Other than that been trying to sort things out for going back to work. Still waiting for confirmation of my start date, but have arranged DD's nursery and she starts on Monday . Two settling in sessions next week and poss another the following week and 1 or 2 days (depends how she goes), then we're away for a week, then she'll be in 8.30 to 5 for 2 days, then we're away again the following week. The week after that is her birthday so she'll only be there 1 day again , then hopefully she will be doing her two days a week after that. Not sure what I am going to do with myself when she is at nursery before I go back to work, but I am sure I will think of something. Feel guilty about wanting some time to myself, but know it will do DD good to be around other children and not reliant on me all the time.

We're still bf'ing - anyone got any tips on how to continue when she's at nursery (obviously not during the day's she's there) or how to know when she is ready to stop?

2+1 dh must either be home or on his way. Hope you get some nice time together and you get chance to recuperate a little.

Justabout sorry to hear you have been having probs and won't be on for a bit. Hope you're ok.

Right better go as DD's pincer grip is excellent and she can pick up crumbs I haven't even seen. As most of her lunch ended up on the floor again today, I really better get on and clean up.

Hope you are all ok and have a good day.

twoplusone · 29/05/2008 20:46

DH gone back today, so I am feeling very sad.. will speak soon
xx

Myfairone · 29/05/2008 21:49

2+1 thinking of you. You know we are here for you

DS has a vomiting and diarrhea bug! OMG! Have had a nightmare two days. My Mum called me yesterday and I could hear him screaming in the background. I just walked out of work and then texted my manager (who thankfully was very good about it). Raced home to find LO screaming his little head off and feeling very miserable. Doctor said there is a bug going around and should be gone in 48 hours. So we are 24 hours down with 24 more to go!

Im exhausted and I lost count of how many nappy changes I did today.

Just hoping he is better tomorrow because I have cried with him for most of today and feel absolutely awful that there was nothing I could do to help him.

Hope all your LO's are feeling fine and that you manage to avoid the nasty bugs!

pulapula · 29/05/2008 22:12

MFO- sorry to hear DS is suffering- hopefully the D&V will be over soon.

Melissa- my DS is only on BF morning and evening now, so I don't worry about what happens when he's at nursery. But when I went back to work, I tended to express when I felt full (usually around 3pm) but as I dropped daytime feeds, I didn't need to do this. I found that my milk supply could cope with the changes from day to day.

DS is now crawling, and its amazing how quickly he's got the hang of it over the last 4 days. He is obsessed with doors, drawers and cables (ie anything dangerous), and our glass coffee table has been packed away as he was using it to pull up on which would no doubt end in bumps. Pincer grip still not there, but he can still pick bits off the carpet and we need to make sure none of DDs things (play money, hair clips etc) are left on the floor- I found DS chewing a hair bobble the other day!

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 30/05/2008 21:14

Hi all, haven't been on for ages sorry... but it was really nice to catch up with what's been happening to you all!

Really that you feel you have to stay hidden justabout, you've unknowingly made me giggle soooo many times and I only hope you can expose yourself again soon !!!!! Can't believe that people have so little in their lives but to chase others around the boards and abuse, like school bullies they are weak, weak, weak, individuals but least said, they don't deserve the thought or the pity!

Anyhow life in deepest devon moves on; dd2 is now cruising with confidence and regularly forgetting to hold on!!!!!!! But there are still no teeth, the bf'ing part of me think grrrreat but all of my RL friends dc's have mouthful's ( I know comparison is a dangerous thing but it's soooooo hard !).

Really pleased with your fanstastic fund raising mmn, dh finished his half marathon on sunday and then spent the next 3 days muttering about his crap time atm I would have struggled to get across the start line soooooo you can imagine the sympathy!!!!
Don't know how much he raised yet but probably around 600 but every little helps ( or so tesco tell me!!)

2+1 hope you had a faboulous weekend, start counting down again now, hese are the hardest days when you know what you're missing, but you'll get there and sooner than you realise.

Think that's it for now, I promise to try and curb my ebay addiction slightly to keep (more) up to date

Love to you all Doris

Glad to have you back jusabout and glad everything seems to have been resolved. It's been quiet on here this week - where is everyone?

MFO hope ds and you are feeling better now.

DD did her settling in sessions at nursery yesterday and today. I don't even think she noticed I was gone today!! But she did give a huge yelp when she saw me then carried on playing . Will see how she does for the whole day next Monday! DH has the day off so we're both going to take her then go out for the day (I think he is going to try to keep my mind off things - wonder if that means we'll go shopping - something I have really wanted to do without dd in tow for ages).

pulapula - thanks for bf'ing advice. Nursery seem to think she'll be fine without a feed in the afternoon as they have food every 2 hrs (well b'fast at 8, 10am snack, 12pm lunch 2 pm snack & 4pm tea - and their snacks are more than I would eat!) I don't think Evelyn is going to be hungry that's for sure. I will try to express too and leave some formula. Can't believe its just over a month until her birthday and she can have cows milk then too! Where has the time gone??

mmn & doris well done on the fund raising

Forgot to say last week - Evelyn had 3 teeth (2 bottom middle and 1 on top to the right of the middle iykwim). Although 2 more appeared over the w'end (opposite top and 1 of middle top) and the other middle top is on the way. We've had awful nights for over a week which I am convinced is due to the teeth. Hopefully the other will be through soon and we can get back on track.

Right better go and get some washing in while dd asleep. She worked out how to climb the stairs on Saturday and is taking every opportunity to practice!! DH better put the other stairgate up tonight then!

Hope you and lo's are all ok.

madmumNika · 03/06/2008 22:38

Hi all,
just a quick (ish) check in...
2+1- lots of hugs, hope you are ok though sure you feel very sad atm- hope the days fly in until your DH is home again.
Doris- well done to your DH! my DP was moaning a lot after his mere 7 miles of the relay (mind you it was uphill and a hot day- he's practically allergic to the sun)!

DD is doing pretty well though still not crawling or anything (are we the last one?!...not that I'm comparing- she is great with the pincer grip mind!! )! But she has a stinker of a cold, seems to be teething (but still no teeth) and a bit miserable...which means she's ended up co-sleeping rather a lot each night and I'm worried how I'll ever get her to settle back into her own cot for a whole night.... We have her annual review for her CF next Monday which I'm a bit scared of to be honest, really hoping all is fine.

Welll DP and I get married on Saturday so praying all our colds are gone by then, Mairi's mummyitis will have diminished and the sun shines!! We've been so lucky with glorious and very uncharacteristic weather over here that I daren't hope it lasts until Sat....

OK back to craziness of wedding preps and cleaning.... Realise now this is why people get married before having kids- everything becomes much more complicated with them!! But hoping they all enjoy it. Take care everyone xx

catstar · 04/06/2008 15:59

Congratulations MMN - how exciting !!! Here's hoping the sun shines - not sure which part of the country you are in? Hope you are all fit and well for the big day! By the way, your DD is not the only one not crawling!! Little O is still not going anywhere. She sometimes rocks up on her arms and little frog legs, then falls on her tummy and starts wailing for assistance!

We've been having horrible sleep problems for the last few weeks and I'm at my end of my tether with the dummy. We are considering going cold turkey with it at the weekend because we are up on average 6x a night putting it back in, although she's capable of doing it herself.... Not sure how long we'll last before we give in though.

I can't believe we are starting to talk about first birthdays! Is anyone having a party? We are having some family and friends over for a BBQ, weather permitting, but it's all for us really! DD will wonder what everone's doing there and why can't they leave her alone to play with her toys .

Twoplusone - hope things are ok with your DH gone? I had a small taste of what it must be like for you as DH was away for a week. Of course I only have 1DD, not 3DC's like you so I can't imagine how hard it must be.

MelissaM - hope your DD enjoys her day at nursery on Monday and you have a good shopping trip!

Myfairone - hope DS fully recovered from D&V bug?

It's very quiet on here these days! I hardly get the chance to get on now I am actually busy at work and not just pretending!!!

Looking forward to tonight - The Apprentice is the only bit on TV I religiously watch (well, that and In the Night Garden!!!)

Hope all well - will catch up soon.

MelissaM · 04/06/2008 20:16

Congratulations MMN - hope you have a fantastic day and that the weather holds for you.

2+1 hope you are ok and that things aren't too bad with dh gone. You know where we all are if you need us.

Just done controlled crying with DD as fed up with 5am wake up call (if lucky and not woken 4 or 5 times) with a refusal to go back to sleep unless held (and wakes when put down ). I feel like a zombie and sympathise with anyone else having sleep problems at the mo. DH is out, so I think I did really well to cope on my own - I didn't think my resolve would last with no support.

Been in to work today to hand my formal request to return p/t. Looks like I might have more holiday than I thought to take before I start back . We've just been TUPEd to another company and no one knew how to work out how much holiday I would accrue while on mat leave so they put me down as having a full years allowance. I won't know what to do with myself while DD is at nursery if I have an extra couple of weeks at home.

Right - going to have my tea now and hope I can watch Desperate Housewives from weeks ago.

Hope you are all ok and having a good week. x

MelissaM · 04/06/2008 20:19

(sorry forgot a couple of comments)

mmn - good luck with dd's cf check on Monday. I am sure everything will be fine.

catstar - yes we're having a party for DD. Well guess it is more for us too, and our friends children . Hadn't thought of a bbq, but sounds like a great idea. DD loves being around other children so will invite our friends with lo's and some family.

JennsterSlugSlayer · 04/06/2008 22:33

YAY started potty training again and four days in and we have had 2 dry days, and that is with being out and about all day too!

MMN Good luck with your wedding.

meep · 05/06/2008 10:01

Morning everyone! I lost our thread again - so had a good search this morning (day off) so I'm back!

MMN - have a fantastic day on Saturday! And make sure you post some pics for us to see!

Fingers crossed for the CF check x

Melissa - well done you for braving controlled crying. We have been lucky so far - minimeep is by no means a perfect sleeper but she does give us the occasional long lie (to around 7am !). Hope it works and you get a bit more sleep! and am very of your extra hols - enjoy!

Minimeep still doesn't crawl (so you are not the last one MMN - good pincer grip here too - it's the only way she can get her beloved Shreddies in the morning!) - but she has started to flip over in her cot. I know she is fine sleeping on her tummy but I always want to flip her onto her back when I find her like that!

And - we have teeth - at last - hooray! The top ones are coming in first but I felt the corner of a bottom one this morning! She is loving getting them brushed - I'm sure that won't last but she opens her wee mouth up in anticipation - very cute!

catstar - we are having a small party for minimeep's birthday - just family and friends. And it is my brithday the day before (yup - I was in labour on my birthday last year - ugh! Started the day before and was convinced she would be out on my birthday - but she wanted a day all to herself and held on until the day after! I remember hurling the phone accross the room when my Mum and Dad phoned to sing happy birthday to me !) - so I think that merits a big chocolate cake for us both!

Justabout - glad you're back - sorry I wasn't here onFri night to give you some friendly chat (or joing in your argument thread for moral support!).

Jennster - yay re the toilet training - I am dreading when we have to go through it!

Finally (I shouldn't stay away for so long - sorry about the huge post!) - 2+1 am thinking of you - come and chat if you're feeling rubbish.

JennsterSlugSlayer · 05/06/2008 20:49

3 completely dry days. Woo Hoo.

meep · 06/06/2008 19:03

hooray!

twoplusone · 06/06/2008 20:06

Madmumnika - Very best wishes for Saturday. I hope you all have a wonderful day. x

Hello everyone. I do look in occasionally but I am always overwhelmed by the sitting up, crawling, standing up etc. I have to put my hands over my ears and run away screaming. Nooooooo. But now, finally, Oscar has decided to wake up a bit, he is on the move crawling commando style, sitting up steadily, 2 teeth (one top, one bottom). He has been asleep for nearly 9 months!

Love to you all. It's lovely to hear about all your little ones.

Caroline1852 (namechanged to swedes)

Swedes · 06/06/2008 23:29

Justabout - Good to see you back. I've missed you.

twoplusone · 07/06/2008 12:33
