I think all that talk of superheroes made us all a bit feisty

daisyandbabybootoo · 11/10/2007 21:34

TA...how did it go for your sister yesterday?

When does she get to take the test?

OP posts:
CunningPlanFormulator · 11/10/2007 21:34

Most expensive so far...£1296!!!

That's awful about disposables daisy!! I suppose it's not really known what effect these chemicals have. Disposables weren't around really when I was a baby, so I suppose people who are coming into adulthood now are the first whos parents used them. If that makes sense!

justbeme · 11/10/2007 21:34

Oh thats horrible re the possible effects on reproductive organs isnt it?? When were disposables introduced?

Holly I got a good deal via confused.com from Sheilas Wheels - dont forget to compare like for like re excesses. Tescos new "compare" site said they couldnt get me a quote from Sheilas Wheels - mmm I wonder if the fact that they were so much cheaper than Tescos own was to do with it??

daisyandbabybootoo · 11/10/2007 21:49

that's shocking holly.

Are you using confused.com?

DH and I are having real trouble getting DD down in th evenings. We just tried controlled crying, well, leaving her 5 mins, then going in then leaving her 5 mins. Lasted 20 mins before DH got so upset. She worked herself up into frenzy. It's not that she is not tired, nor is she over tired today. Any advice? DH are now sniping at each other coz it really upset him, but I am just a bit fed up as have her all day and want a bit of my evening back. She is now refusing to go down to sleep

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 11/10/2007 22:07

Ok - so I get the message!
Disposables are bad too!
Suppose you are all washing your cloth nappies in Ecover then?
Need a bit of convincing that cloth
a) Aren't more prone to nappy rash (as my friends are experiencing at the moment - and have to temp swich to disposables to get rid of it)
b) all that extra washing is better for the environment

I'm going to change my name to devils advocate I think

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 11/10/2007 22:08

Bumper - I don't know what to say . Do you have a 'bedtime routine' going? Has she always been tricky at bedtime?

bumperlicious · 11/10/2007 22:11

Not really a routine, but she used to feed about 7ish then go down by 8.30ish. Maybe it's the move. I don't know how to rectify it though. Going to bed anyway, will discuss bedtime routines another day. Night all x

bumperlicious · 11/10/2007 22:13

I think you're damned if you do and damned if you don't with all this parenting lark DKMA! Do what's right for you, but good to get more info. Just be wary, reusuables seem to be addictive!

ArgyBargy · 11/10/2007 22:14

Right I've changed my name to something more fitting

CunningPlanFormulator · 11/10/2007 22:16

Bumper, I don't want to sound harsh, but controlled crying at this age, I think, is crazy and cruel. My opinion on the matter is that they are tiny for such a short amount of time that worrying about things like "bedtimes" is silly. My ds is still up and playing with his daddy. As far as I'm concerned you will have 16 or so years ahead to worry about bedtime, just enjoy your little one whilst she is still little!

CunningPlanFormulator · 11/10/2007 22:17

You will get told off for that name change! There is already an RGPargy who is a very regular poster!

ArgyBargy · 11/10/2007 22:22

Oh well! ArgyBargy is better than ARGPargy - WTF is Pargy?
CPF - do you not get knackered tho and want a peaceful night ever? Or is your little fella of the mellow kind?
My LO (touch wood) goes to bed with no fuss - so have no experience of CC - thank goodness!

CunningPlanFormulator · 11/10/2007 22:25

He is quite mellow I spose, but then so am I! I'm not really into routines and atm I just enjoy him being a baby! My dd went to bed at the same time as us and slept with us until she was 18 months and I'm quite prepared to wait til that sort of time with ds! Each to their own I suppose, but I like to have my babies with me at all times! I think I'm a little odd!

daisyandbabybootoo · 11/10/2007 22:35

LOL dkma......don't do argybary, it's too severe sounding (as is hellhathnofury and cunningplanformulator)

Farking hormones. I blame the four month mark. This is when my PND with DS reared it's ugly head and I know I'm feeling hyper sensitive at the moment too. they don't tell you about this in the books.....It seems just when you think you've got it sussed....BAM, it all goes to cock emotionally.

Bumper......it's probably the move that has unsettled DD a bit. I'll e-mail you with some chat....it's a bit long winded to clutter up here!

riabutterflew · 11/10/2007 22:37

we have ds3 with us til we go to bed too holly. sometimes with ds1&2 i wonder if i should have made more effort to have a more "normal" routine, but I think this way is best for us, even if I do pay for it when they're older.

twunt · 11/10/2007 22:39

Shall I revert back to this daisy?

dogtanian · 11/10/2007 22:40

Or this?

dogtanian · 11/10/2007 22:40

I have some great christmas ones saved up so no-one else nicks them!

dogtanian · 11/10/2007 22:43

This ebay shop is doing swaddlebees for £3.99!!

IamDaisy · 11/10/2007 22:44

I liked looneylovegood....but I have noticed that no matter what you change to, we all call you holly anyway

We were keeping DD with us for ages, but she naturally started falling asleep at 8:30-9:00 herself so we started putting her upstairs....that has very recently gone to 7:30, but tongiht she was falling asleep on the boob at 6:00 and I had to keep tickling her to keep her awake.

IamDaisy · 11/10/2007 22:47

oops, didn't think that name had stuck

there are so many daisy this that or t'other on here; I came across a daisynova earlier!

I bought my little lambs from there. I also got a size2 LL for £1.99 as it had gotten rain damaged, but it looks perfect to me.

dogtanian · 11/10/2007 22:50

I think I'm gonna stick with this name 'til christmas, then have some fun with all my "Holly" names!

Dp is chucking me off now, so I'm off to bed!

Night xx

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 07:42

Just caught up on last night - Holly dont go with sheilas wheels! Or diamond! They are cheap but if anything happens they can be sods and don't pay out. I have never used them but I have heard many many bad reports. Look on ciao.co.uk etc for reviews. And Norwich Union are duff too, they were on watchdog.
In fact if they look too good to be true they probably are.
I have used AA and Tescos who are good. Tescos is good to start with because they give low quote to get your business but then after a year the renewal can be a bit higher...but just shop around again when the time comes! I use AA who I am happy with and have always been v helpful.

Daisy - my sis is ok, nervous, they have given her a test to use in 2 weeks to see if they 'took'! We are all crossing our fingers for her. She is as mad as a box of frogs but she still deserves to be happy!
