I think all that talk of superheroes made us all a bit feisty

Morning all

DD turned over for the first time this morning ....unfortunately, she was lying on the end bit of my chair which was reclined and she nearly fell off (I was sitting there btw)

She refuses to repeat the performance

Hope everyone had good nights - DD was awake at 5.50am but played and squealed nicely in her cot until 6.45am!

Got a really busy couple of days....going to France tomorrow (without LO - nanny has her) on a pre-Xmas booze run!

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 08:10

oooh france for the day!
lovely

Yes I got a brill nights sleep, DS slept from 8.30 - 6.30, and that's only cos we woke him up so we could get him ready to go to the CM!
Good little monkey!

I am still not 100% compus mentis but I think that will come. Perhaps when DS has moved out of home.

bumperlicious · 12/10/2007 08:14

Wow LMN that's great!

Holly, I think you are right re: controlled crying, it made us all feel crap, but it was on a sleep video that the HV showed us at postnatal group. I guess I just would like my evenings back a bit, plus I don't want her getting over tired as, like sputnik mentioned a while back, it may be contributing to her feeding problems. Oh, I feel terrible now...AIBU to want a bit of me time? DH is getting thoroughly pissed off with the bfing, especially when I whinge about constant feeding. this moved has made us all a bit crabby...

Thanks daisy, will check email.

ArgyBargy · 12/10/2007 08:28

Morning

Bumper - my HV showed us a video about sleeping and CC - I wonder if it was the same one - the one I saw had much older babies (6 months plus - some were even toddlers).

The move is bound to put a drain on things for a bit (mega knackering and stressful) for all of you. Hopefully things will settle down for you in a few days.
Does your DH want to start bottle feeding then?

ArgyBargy · 12/10/2007 08:31

Oh and by the way Bumper YANBU at all to want more me time!
If I don't get me time I am a mess and not a very good mummy at all!!

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 08:51

LMN I was about to say I am in Essex over Christmas if you still fancied that Bluewater jaunt... then I remembered, Bluewater, Christmas, eek!

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 08:57

Daisy I read that thing about the disposable nappies to my DH, he was disgusted!

LittleMissNorty · 12/10/2007 09:00

Oh yeah could fancy a trip to Bluewater but as you say...Xmas!!! Sales are even worse! I'll be back at work then (only 3 days a week tho) so am not sure yet.....I think I might have to go to work inbetween Xmas and New Year...but I also suspect nursery will be closed....oh buggerbuggerbugger!

I have MIL for Xmas.....mmmm....fun!

It would be great to see you tho...and little S....they are growing so quickly. Have you got much time off work? sure we can work something out.

Not a cultural trip tomorrow....we live 10 mins from the tunnel so we leg it over there, straight to wine and beer warehouse, fill up the boot.....then to Carrefour and stock up on washing powder, comfort, and other miscellaneous items that are nice and cheap, and leg it home again in time for Scotland's match on the tele !

LittleMissNorty · 12/10/2007 09:03

Bumper...agree with everyone else....moving is a very stressful time....I blardy hate it....so DD is probably a bit out of sorts...different smells etc...I'm sure you both and her will settle down soon, and I am totally with you on the "me" time......is giving her the odd bottle really such a bad thing to do?

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 09:03

Bumper I wish I had some advice for your sleep problems

The only thing I could suggest is try skipping the 11pm feed and putting her down about 9-9.30pm, but I know you are reluctant to try that in case she wakes at 3. Can't say I blame you - but maybe it's worth a try just once?

Or maybe she will sleep through a bit easier when it's time to introduce some solids?

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 09:09

LMN I do have a bit of time off - but I am not sure I can work it as I get to Essex on the 22nd and you are working between xmas and NY - could be a tough one to work out! And the crowds...uurrghhh

LittleMissNorty · 12/10/2007 09:11

I have to say I was waking my DD up at 10 for a dream feed right up until last week cos I didn't have the courage to see if she would sleep through and I can't remember what its like to have to feed during the night....she really suprised me and slept through and does 7-6 every night - its blardy great....so its Friday night Bumper...no-one has to get up tomorrow....give it a go!

LittleMissNorty · 12/10/2007 09:12

Fury...you were right the other day...should have made the most of our mat leave shouldn't we? All very easy to say now though....I can't tell you the number of people that said to me "Enjoy it....you'll never have this time again" etc etc....how right they were!

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 09:14

Yes I am angry with myself for not making the most of my time off.

It really does go so quick and all those lovely sunny days wasted

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 09:30

I bought nappies last night. DH doesn't know. Oops.

IamDaisy · 12/10/2007 09:38

bumper, as everyone is saying, I'm sure it's the move etc that has made everyone a bit jittery.

WRT feeds, I find that if I feed DD at 10ish, she always, but always wakes at 3ish, but if I miss the 10 o clock one and put her down after her feed at 7ish, she generally sleeps through (obviously we get the odd night where she goes mental and wakes at 2, but generally we're OK). As HHNF says, it's worth a go. Also if you can get in as many feeds as possible during the day, she should take enough milk on to get her through the night. Not sure what to suggest about your DH, but if you want to continue with the BF you really need his support. It is such a short time out of your lives, even though it seems like forever at the moment.

Me time is very important though and I suppose parenting is all about finding the right balance and doing what works for you.

(I hope that doesn't sound preachy....scared to say anything too controversial lest I offend/upset now)

Charlie, by nanny do you mean grandma...or are you reeely posh and have a nanny?

DD still hasn't rolled over (well done baby Norty ), but her latest party trick is blowing raspberries on my boob. I try not to laugh when she does it, but it is sooooo funny . I only hope she doesn't try it when we're feeding discreetly in the corner of a cafe or somewhere.

IamDaisy · 12/10/2007 09:40

wotcha get this time HHNF....more bumgenius?

I would love some, but sorting through my nappies this morning, I realise we have more than enough to be going on with.

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 09:53

micro diddy diapers!
My bumgenius are brilliant and so easy to use but sometimes I can't be arsed to stuff them all and a 2 parter is handy. Also, I don't like to us BG at night.

I just got 2 to try.

I have about 15 BG, 4 Swaddlebees OV (but am debating whether or not to sell them...) and 5 MEOS which I use at night. As I only like to do a nappy wash every few days I could use a couple more, esp if I do end up selling the swaddlebees.

IamDaisy · 12/10/2007 09:58

are they micr cos they're small...or micro cos they're micro-fibre?

I've got a bambinex teddy, but don't get on that well with it....it's cottn/bamboo terry for daytime in this house and hemp at night. I use pocket nappies for taking out and about as they are less bulky, and now her legs are chunking up I don't get nearly as many leaky legs as I did.

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 10:00

is a teddy microfibre?
They are microfibre. The inserts on my BG are microfibre and work really well so I thought I'd give it a go.

Is it worth you selling the ones you don't get on with? So you can fund the purchase of more

bumperlicious · 12/10/2007 10:03

I've got a couple of pockets but didn't really get on with them as instead of a neat little pocket the whole inside "hollow" iykwim? so the insert just slid about and the nappy leaked.

thanks for the advice re sleep/bfing, will go into it more later but dd is getting restless so just dipping in!

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 10:04

what pockets do you have bumper? I have found they vary wildly.

IamDaisy · 12/10/2007 10:04

I've got a few little ones that I think I can part with as they really aren't fitting her any more, but where to sell?.....tots say they go up to 18lbs, but her size 1 tots is getting decidedly nippy on her and she only weighs about 14lbs.

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 10:06

Daisy - HERE

I have sold loads on this site.

LittleMissNorty · 12/10/2007 10:12

Morning Daisy.....oh to have a nanny ...no, my mum and 12 year old niece are looking after her....picking them up from work / school later.

I'm a bit worried as DD has been a bit clingy recently and my mum doesn't drive and I'll be in France...but I suppose if I'm not here, there's nothing I can do...my BIL works about 30 mins away if mum is desperate I suppose....and my niece is one of 5, so she's well used to looking after LOs.

DD still hasn't repeated her rollong over moment...when she done it this morning, she got stuck laying on her arm and looked a bit stunned

Bumper...I second what Daisy says about packing in a much food as possible during the day. My DD has 9oz at 7am (takes her 5 mins to drink it!!), another 8oz at 10.30am, another at 2pm then another just before bed at 7ish (often a bit earlier as she's really moany by then)...I know you can't measure what she's having with BF, but I reckon she'd go through if she had a nice big feed 6-7ish.

DD is getting close to wanting more though...screaming for more after each feed..grabbing at my food....the minute she wakes me up in the night....solids it is
