I think all that talk of superheroes made us all a bit feisty

upsyderlor · 11/10/2007 20:26

i'm keeping an eye on ebay tonight as my mobile phone is selling in 1/2 hour.
currently at £36

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 11/10/2007 20:33

Yep - it's scaring the pants off me!
All my lovely beauty products are full of nasties! Even 'Simple' and 'Aveda' stuff

upsyderlor · 11/10/2007 20:36

really? that's crap. might watch it on channel4+1.

daisyandbabybootoo · 11/10/2007 20:38

Phew, I've just had cracking service from a holiday flat company in Edinburgh. I sent off an e-mail with a booking enquiry and they called me back five minutes later....talk about good service!...either that or desperate for business

daisyandbabybootoo · 11/10/2007 20:40

I'm deliberately not watching that DKMA....

upsyderlor · 11/10/2007 20:53

so did they offer you somewhere Daisy?

(yeah my mobile selling for £51.99 with 9 mins to go and 16 people watching it ) >

CunningPlanFormulator · 11/10/2007 20:54

AAAARRRGGGGHHHH!!! Car insurance is confusing! Am trying all the comparison sites and am getting some quite good quotes, much less than I thought!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 11/10/2007 20:54

Jesus christ! I feel better about FF now!! I use loads of products so I bet my BM was packed full of it!!
Please to say I only use the Mclaren range and Neals yard for LO. Johnsons etc = full of nasties
Might now swop to Ecover washing powder now too - does anyone use this? Is it any good?

justbeme · 11/10/2007 21:00

Hell/Fury (what shall I call you??)
Im using Little Lambs Size 1 - but theyre the only ones Ive used so Ive got nothing to compare them with. They are quite bulky and take a while to dry, but Im getting on ok with them.
Poo is well contained , but I get wee leaking onto the cuffs of the wrap every so often - (is that what Daisy calls wicking? Im not sure what that means?)
Even with a booster layer I have to change L every 2.5 - 3 hrs.
Is that good or bad?

Sputnik · 11/10/2007 21:01

I use ecover tabs in the dishwasher, they actually clean better than anything else I've used. Also use their stuff for delicates but the not powder usually as I prefer liquid detergent

CunningPlanFormulator · 11/10/2007 21:01

That programme sounds awful...yet another thing to stop women bfing! Along with Bringing Up Baby C4 has a lot to answer for!

upsyderlor · 11/10/2007 21:04

yippee phone sold for £58.50!!!!

riabutterflew · 11/10/2007 21:07

Hi again. I survived the driving, even the right turn and the dark. Judo was actually very boring - DH can go next week

Sputnik · 11/10/2007 21:08

Yay! Want help choosing some boots?

CunningPlanFormulator · 11/10/2007 21:09

WOOHOO for derlor's phone!!

CunningPlanFormulator · 11/10/2007 21:10

How odd that one company can charge me £345 for my insurance, yet another is £970!

upsyderlor · 11/10/2007 21:11

i LOVE selling stuff on ebay, now i need to start looking for some lovely knee lenght black boots........
DKMA - i'm watching that programme now, those sisters are scary!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 11/10/2007 21:11

NO NO NO they did not tell people to stop BF they just said be careful about the products you use as they can pass into BM - makes sense really!
Things like formaldahide and incecicides (sp?) that are in the shower gels we use for example - end up in our BM.

daisyandbabybootoo · 11/10/2007 21:15

jbm, I usually change babyboo every couple of hours during the day. Real nappies are never going to be as absorbent as disposables. I get wicking (yes that's what you described; basically the meaterial of the cuff acts like a wick and sucks up the wee transferring it to clothes) if I leave her for too long as well.

funnily enough I was using dispos last week cos of her dry skin (my washing machine isn't rinsing properly) but she's been back in cloth this week and I keep forgetting to change her and wondering why her vest is wet.

it's shocking the difference in prices for car insurance. i just don't get how they can differ SO much

upsyderlor · 11/10/2007 21:20

flip, it's so foggy here i literally can't see the house across the road!!!!

daisyandbabybootoo · 11/10/2007 21:23

but they all say they are the cheapest ???

I got a good deal from the AA on european breakdown assistance for our hols next week.

When I tried the website, it quoted mt £48 as a non AA member (I couldn't remember my membership No). I phoned them up yesterday, with my membership number, and with a 10% discount he gave me £49.50. I told himthe web thing was cheaper so he applied a web discount and gave me £48.00. I asked for a ref number as i was going to get more quotes, and he started giving me the spiel about how they were the best cos they included this, that and the other, but other comapnies were this or that or the other (iyswim). when I told him that it didn't make good business sense for me to take his word for it and I needed to hear for myself what other companoies were offering, he said he could apply his own personal discount and took it down to £37.50.

Just shows it pays to be hard nosed and flinty about these things.

on the subject of chemicals......my real nappies from the council contained this information about disposables.

"The chemicals that make up the absorbent layer of the nappies are not subject to government controls or independent testing. Sodium polyacrylate, the chemical that makes disposable nappies so absorbent, was removed from tampons in 1985 because of its link to Toxic Shock Syndrome. Despite all the evidence for its effects on adult women who used it in tampons, its usage in nappies continues and its possible effect on babies? thin skin and reproductive organs remains unstudied"
