Hi all

As I’m rubbish and keep double posting I thought I’d start a new thread as we’re nearly at 1k.
I don’t have all of the OG’s so apologies for anyone I miss or anyone I miss in general (blaming lack of coffee this morning!!)

Hellooo!! Can't believe we're on a 2nd thread, but it's so lovely we're keeping it up seeing as how we all went through ttc and pregnancy together! Proper little village 🙂

Joe had a bit of a rubbish night but nothing totally awful. Also I THINK I can see a tiny tooth poking through?? Not sure as it's on the top though and they say the bottom ones usually appear first? It's like a tiny white dot on his gum and when I feel it (thought it was a bit of mash or something!) it doesn't move/wipe off and can feel it as a tiny bump... Will monitor and update!

MrsEG · 23/06/2020 09:26

@ELW85 thanks for the new thread! It’s totally up to you and what works for you guys when it comes to naps/sleep. But yeah, I wake the boys if they’re napping too long - otherwise bedtime is just painful! They’re coming up to 5 months old now (HOW) and our sweet spot is an hour at 9 and 2 hours at 12, they have a bit of a catnap late afternoon too (but are reeeeally fighting that one lately!).
The going to sleep drowsy but awake I’m still using the EASY routine so we’d have done the feed a while before a sleep so I’m not sure if I can help on that one!! It’s been ages since they had a bottle right before bed. But just see what works for you guys! There really is no right or wrong - just whatever works for you!

@Fivebyfive2 first tooth! Ahh how exciting. You’ll have to get his first toothbrush haha!

The boys are currently obsessed with rolling over! Is it a baby thing that once they know how to do something they just do it over and over and over again?! They’ve been sleeping at night great recently but I’m not at all as I keep waking up to check on them 🙈

Thanks for all the advice as well on getting out in this weird post-lockdown world - I’m being brave today and taking the boys on my own to my friends garden. I have it all planned with military precision but still dreading it a bit haha! We’re also going to a family BBQ on Thursday. Baby steps!!

ELW85 · 23/06/2020 09:36

@Fivebyfive2 - it’s great that we’re all still together! You guys are incredible support particularly at the moment with worldwide weirdness and isolation; we’re very lucky!
Ooh sounds like teething to me. Apparently they come in pairs, so keep an eye out for another one?
Sorry he had a bit of a rubbish night. If he’s teething as well though he’s probably going to be restless and clingy?

@MrsEG - I know, I try to feed when he wakes but he was super sleepy this morning and had hiccups so by the time he finished his bottle, he was asleep again! So I woke him up and then put him down drowsy.
I really thought I’d cracked it but he’s just woken up and wouldn’t resettle in the crib, so back on me.
I’ll keep going though; it’s progress I think!!
I also think with how much sleep he appears to need, I should probably give him a little top up when he starts to look tired (but not feed to sleep) as the waking up crying thing could be hunger...we’ll see.

Finn has more Imms tomorrow. How much am I dreading that?!

OP posts:
ELW85 · 23/06/2020 09:38

@MrsEG - also forgot to say; it’s awesome that the boys are doing so well and that you’ve got a nice BBQ planned!
Are you feeling more confident about going out? A girl I used to play netball with has invited me for a distance walk. I’m kind of looking forward to it; kind of terrified 😂

MrsR16 · 23/06/2020 10:59

Hiya ladies, hope you're all doing ok! I have missed so much! 😂 the last couple of days have been a real struggle. Ethan's not taking his bottles like normal and yesterday it felt like he was crying nearly all day, which is unlike him. He seems better today thankfully so now I need to get my head straight and in a good place and we should be back to normal!

ELW85 · 23/06/2020 11:20

@MrsR16 - oh no! Maybe a 24 hour bug? I hope you’re all ok. Lovely to hear from you 😊

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 23/06/2020 11:37

@ELW85 thanks lovely 😊 I'm not sure. I think it's a cross between the heat, teeth, a leap, and having a busy weekend so sleeping horrendously Sunday night 😂

ELW85 · 23/06/2020 13:32

@MrsR16 - oh yeah, that’s a perfect storm if ever there was one 😂

Quick poll question!! How much do you guys have a routine like EASY and how often do you feed, do you wake them up to feed etc vs just going with their hunger cues?
I know this sounds ridiculous but I genuinely think some of Finn’s hunger cues haven’t been related to his feed to sleep association, but he’s been genuinely hungry and is much easier to settle when he’s given a top-up feed. It SOUNDS obvious but since his weight loss, we’ve always been in a 3 hour feeding cycle so it hasn’t occurred to me that maybe it’s not enough any more?

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 23/06/2020 13:39

@ELW85 I vaguely have a routine, but it's much less stuck to than when Ethan was little! He doesn't give me any hunger cues (both DH and I watch for them and he goes from 0-1000 in a split second!) which is exasperating, especially now we're weaning him. I'm still trying to catch up with him and how he works! 😂 I really thought by 6 months old, I'd have cracked it and known what his cries mean, etc!

RanchoRelaxo · 23/06/2020 13:47

Hi everyone! I havnt checked in with this thread for AGES so thanks for the tag, I'm gonna have a scroll through the other one this afternoon and catch up :)

Hope everyone is okay during this strange time, I'm very thankful for the update today, yay to playgrounds reopening!

Freya is 1 next week, I cant believe it, she has crazy curly blonde hair and shes really tall, not quite walking yet but very close!

stormtrooperjulian · 23/06/2020 16:42

Thanks for the new thread @ELW85

How is everyone doing? Dex is cutting 4 teeth at the moment, he's coping pretty well mostly but a bit more whingey than usual at times.

ELW85 · 23/06/2020 16:57

@MrsR16 - thank you for that! Finn is exactly the same. You occasionally get a little laugh type thing out of him but mostly he enjoys going 0-Armageddon!
Sometimes distracting him works but mostly it’s just chaos!

@stormtrooperjulian - oh dear me, it’s all going on isn’t it? Finn is being super drooly at the moment and keeps chewing his hands so either teething or developmental. It’s a minefield!

@RanchoRelaxo - wow, a year! I bet the walking (near walking!) is so exciting 😊

OP posts:
MrsEG · 23/06/2020 18:22

Ugh I’m so mad at the update today! DH owns a gym, a small independent unit. They could social distance so safely and so easily and they still can’t open, but pubs can?! Tell me how drunk people can safely social distance?! And my parents still can’t hold the twins, just feeling so deflated.

@ELW85 I am feeling much more confident now - the boys were a dream today! They were the only babies there who didn’t cry once!! Proud mum haha!
We do have a strict routine but that’s just what worked for us really. We had a feeding plan from the hospital from a week old like you and when we stopped that I noticed they’d go 3.5-4 hours so I kinda based the routine on that. My absolutely perfect day these days goes:
7 - wake up and bottles
9-10 nap
10-12 awake - bottles about 10:30
12-2 nap (but usually 1:30 the little blighters)
2-4 awake - bottle about 2:30
4 - power nap then awake
5:30-6 last bottles
6:30 bath and bed by 7
I know it isn’t for everyone but I started sleep training young (9/10 weeks ish) as two newborns is nothing short of hell! I hadn’t slept in over 2 months. But it has worked really well for us. Their hunger cue is still most definitely scream until fed haha! Sorry if that’s way more info than you needed 🙈

@MrsR16 Oh no! I was gonna say could it be a leap or 8 month regression or something wretched like that haha! Just remember - it’s all just a phase! How are you today?

@RanchoRelaxo 1 year old!! Oh how amazing, have you got much planned for the big day?

@stormtrooperjulian 4 teeth oh the poor wee thing. How have you gotten on with the teething? The boys are almost 5 months and sometimes Ruairí literally wails with the pain, calpol is the only thing that helps really. Other than chomping on his teether all day long!

ELW85 · 23/06/2020 19:19

@MrsEG - no, that’s really helpful!! Thank you for the detail 😊
Finn’s been a bit hungrier lately and so I’m just thinking of shuffling things around to maybe do a top up somewhere in the days without feeding to sleep.
I’m gutted for you guys; I really don’t get why small gyms that tend to be more group training anyway can’t open.
It’s great that the boys behaved and you had a nice day. Unwind with a nice glass of wine, you deserve it!

Well guys fingers crossed I can continue the bedtime routine and get Finn to sleep from awake again. This will be night 4. Still not convinced I’m not cheating by waking him up, but I’ll be aiming to not let him sleep and then bring the feed earlier and earlier until it’s 10 mins before bed or so. It’s all progress!
Dreading these Imms tomorrow...

Fivebyfive2 · 23/06/2020 19:52

Hi all!

@ELW85 good luck tonight and I hope tomorrow goes OK... Joe was a bit of a nightmare at his last jabs but he's a bit sensitive I think, some babies from my nct group weren't bothered apparently!

@MrsEG, glad you had a nice time today! Eugh this lockdown is just the absolute pits isn't it?!

@RanchoRelaxo, a year omg that's flown!! Xx

@stormtrooperjulian, poor Dex, get the calpol down him, bless him! He'll be chomping away soon 🙂

@MrsR16, sorry to hear you're having a rough few days. I think the heat really gets to them. It's horrible. Hope tonight is better for you xx

Joe's been a happy chap today, mostly. Just fed him and put him the snuzpod and he went to sleep, 3rd night in a row 🙂 I did 20,000 steps today, knackered now... Ice cream is required 🍦

MrsR16 · 23/06/2020 22:28

@RanchoRelaxo oh goodness! How is Freya nearly a year old already?!? Where has that time gone?

@stormtrooperjulian oh poor Dec! 4 teeth at once is a bit mean 😂

@ELW85 I just think our babies love their food!! 🤣 Finn'll be absolutely fine - baby imms are always worse for us than they are for them!

@MrsEG the update doesn't make any sense to me either! I've got everything crossed DH will be able to open in the near future! I'm not doing too badly! I absolutely cracked this morning before DH went to work though - I knocked over a glass of juice! So silly now, but being exhausted and worried about DH going into work rather than just being there must have not helped...

@Fivebyfive2 hey lovely, thank you 😊 20,000 steps? You hero! Eat all the ice cream 😂😂

Here's a picture of Ethan, just because 😊 and also I loved the vest I found haha!

MrsR16 · 23/06/2020 22:29

@MrsEG definitely meant to write *I've got everything crossed that your DH will be able to open the gym in the near future! 😂😂😂

Lemonysherbet · 23/06/2020 22:48

Thanks @ELW85

Just wanted to pop in and say hello, as I'm feeling almost like me again! I'll have a read through here when I have some time (4am no doubt 🤣) and see how everyone is xx

ELW85 · 24/06/2020 07:57

Morning all!

Had a hellish night; put Finn in his Snuzpod awake (like the last 3 nights) and HUGE kick off!! Got him settled in there and then his reflux went off so he started screaming the house down.
Finally got him in there and then asleep. Wakes up a bit earlier than normal; has feed. Back in Snuzpod...hiccups. An hour and a half later, I’m back in bed. My lord!!
Slept through til nearly 7 after that though and settled quite quickly this morning, so I’m hoping he’s just fighting the new routine before the penny drops?!

@Fivebyfive2 - Go on Joe, that’s brilliant!! It sounds like he just ‘gets’ that that’s where he sleeps now! Awesome!! Can he have a word with Finn please?!
How did you do 20k?! I hope you had a full Ben and Jerry’s!

@MrsR16 - Ethan is gorgeous and I love the vest! Imms at 9 and Finn has hiccups as we speak (reflux ones) so today is off to a shocker.

@Lemonysherbet - great to hear that you’re feeling better. Everything does tend to just pass 😊

OP posts:
MrsEG · 24/06/2020 08:23

@ELW85 oh no! Could it have been due to the jabs, how did he get on with them? The boys had awful nights after all their jabs!

@Fivebyfive2 Well done you! I’m clocking about 15-17k steps a day at the moment now Conor likes the pram haha! So nice to get out! Hope you enjoyed the ice cream!! How was your anniversary?

@MrsR16 Ahh what a gorgeous pic! Oh I am exactly the same, I cried yesterday because DH knocked over my glass of water, sobbed mopping it up!! 🙈

@Lemonysherbet So, so pleased you’re feeling better!

The boys rolling over is causing some challenges at the mo haha! Both of them were rolling on to their bellies in the night then crying as they couldn’t roll back 🙈 I’m knackered but trying to look at the positive that they’ve learnt this new skill!! Just gonna leave them on the play mat today for some practice!!

I’m also very sunburnt - spent so long yesterday checking and reapplying the boys suncream that I forgot to put a drop on myself!!

Have good days ladies XX

TrashKitten10 · 24/06/2020 09:20

@MrsEG Thought about you and your DH when they said gyms couldn't reopen, what a blow for you both :( The boys sound so similar to Daisy with their dislike for tummy time and rolling over and getting stuck. She did that for MONTHS. Thankfully never at night time but would just roll, cry, get me to roll her back and repeat about 3000 times a day. Drove me mad 😂 hopefully your two master the roll back significantly quicker than she did haha.

@ELW85 Sorry to hear you had a rough night :( Finn's reflux sounds so tricky, it must be really hard for you both. Hope the immunisations go okay today. Are these his second lot? Daisy was very upset and uncomfortable after her first lot (on New Year's Eve of all days and she finally nodded off just as Big Ben was chiming haha) but the second and third lot didn't particularly bother her.

@lemonysherbet Glad you're feeling better. Was the lack of 4am update a good sign of the night you had?

@MrsR16 Ethan is scrummy and what a lovely vest!

@fivebyfive2 Well done Joe going straight to sleep!

@stormtrooperjulian Poor Dex, that's rough getting four at the same time. It's good he's managing okay though :)

@RanchoRelaxo Wow, one year already! What are you planning to do for her birthday?

Bit of a random question but I suppose it's nothing compared to our TTC discussions about DTD and CM consistency 🙈 Have any of you post c-section ladies found the holy grail of comfortable knickers? I leant over the cot and caught my scar yesterday and made it sore and since then I've been knickerless (oo-er!) as my big pants feel too hot and uncomfortable and my little pants are rubbing the scar. Although rather liberating, the knickerless situation can only last so long before a rogue gust of wind reveals my unkempt lady garden to the world and I have to go into hiding for the rest of my life 🥴

Lemonysherbet · 24/06/2020 09:37

I slept through 🤣 as did jack. Wowwww

Also my 3 week old is in 3-6months clothes. Is this normal 😂

MrsEG · 24/06/2020 09:43

@TrashKitten10 Oh god haha!! I’ll have to keep up with the ‘rolling back over’ practice!! It’s so funny when they do it though isn’t it, like they land on their belly and then suddenly the bottom lip starts to go like ‘How did this happen?!’ Haha!
I’m still in the big pants!! I find the M&S ones really good and light so not too warm. The VPL situation is real haha, but I’m sticking with loose dresses at the moment! Have you tried scar massage? I’ve started that and it’s taken some of that soreness away a bit.

@lemonysherbet Ruairí is 4.5 months and is in 6-9 months clothes, and filling them!! So nothing to worry about, you just have a big baba!!

stormtrooperjulian · 24/06/2020 09:59

@MrsEG it's such a shame that gyms can't open yet! I know my gym has put so much effort into making it safe and now they're going even longer without income, its so unfair.

@TrashKitten10 how old is Daisy now? I'm losing track of all the babies! I've just worn normal underwear since about 10 weeks pp, I prefer low cut ones so they do sit on the scar but I have no pain or sensitivity so I can't be much help. I hated my big c section pants 😂

Dex is doing pretty well with the teething, he's been a bit unsettled at night and a bit clingy sometimes but still happy most of the time. Three of the teeth are properly through the gum now so hopefully not much longer to go.
