Hi all

As I’m rubbish and keep double posting I thought I’d start a new thread as we’re nearly at 1k.
I don’t have all of the OG’s so apologies for anyone I miss or anyone I miss in general (blaming lack of coffee this morning!!)

@Fivebyfive2 - oh my god, he’s so adorable! Finn sleeps with his arms up too (when he’s not swaddled!)
You’re right about MiL but she text earlier saying she can meet any time tomorrow which is a bit weird (like she’s rearranging stuff). Anyway, never mind!!
I’d love Finn to take a pram nap. He’s not known for napping in a pram or bouncer...guess I’m just lucky like that 😢
Maximo like park? And I read your post as your cat is your neighbour 😂 for some reason I pictured a cat wearing a smoking jacket, curtain twitching, haha! xx

@MrsEG - our extra/new fan arrived today and I’m basking in the glory of it. DH wants to swap it for the budget one he has...nice try pal.

@ELW85, ha ha maximo would look awesome in a smoking jacket 😎 and yep, we named him after the ba, they're kind of 'our' band, listened to them constantly when we first got together and we've seen them live about 6 times, always awesome! It's so funny when they sleep with arms up, my mum always says he has scored a goal in his sleep 😛Definitely keep hold of your fan!! Xx

Fivebyfive2 · 26/06/2020 16:25

Forgot to say, back in the day dh wanted our son to be called maximo, thank god we got the cat first!! X

MrsEG · 27/06/2020 06:17

Finally! Success haha! Put the boys to bed at 6:30 and they went right through to 5; I panicked a bit when I woke as Conor was on his belly, but he was fast asleep that way. They’re actually still asleep now so I’ve left them to it. I feel like a new woman!! Just looks like I’ve got at least one tummy sleeper. He spent so much time yesterday just rolling about on the mat!!

It’s so much cooler this morning too thank god, we’re going to a friends garden today for ‘Glasthomebury’ so just hoping the rain holds out a bit! Trying to plan these things around babies is tough but their little boy is only 2 weeks older than the twins so they get it!

@ELW85 oh definitely keep that fan!

@Fivebyfive2 ah look at Joe, how cute is he!!

ELW85 · 27/06/2020 06:42

@Fivebyfive2 - that’s so sweet! I’m a musician but whilst we have songs etc DH isn’t that inspired or we’d have called little one Ben (Howard)
I hope you had a good night?

@MrsEG - yes!!! Just refreshed in time for Glasto! Won’t be the same unless it rains 😂

thumper59 · 27/06/2020 08:02

@MrsEG yey go boys! Freddie sleeps more on his tummy, but he is such a wriggle arse he ends up all over the place😆

@fivebyfive aww he is just adoreable!!

@ELW85 eeek hope seeing your mil goes ok! I use the Ollie the owl white noise/lullaby machine

I'm so glad it's cooled off a bit today! went to town for the first time yesterday and got some bits from primark and went to river island and they had a baby sale on so fred got lots of new clothes, not that he needs any 🙄 it wasn't to busy really which was nice, can't imagine going today or tomorrow though!

Fivebyfive2 · 27/06/2020 16:40

@thumper59, bet Freddie is a cool dude in his new threads 😎

Feeling really Meh today, not sure why though. We've got some lovely stuff planned for next week so just trying to focus on that to shake myself out of it! Joe didn't have a great night, but not terrible either. He really enjoyed his lunch today and dh did most of the supervision as he doesn't get chance in the week. Tomorrow we're trying him with a 'baby buffet' got some grated cheese, a pack of those melty vegetable puff things and I'll either cook some frozen veg so they're really soft for him or give him a bit of bread and butter??

How's everyone doing this weekend? Xx

MrsR16 · 27/06/2020 18:55

@Fivebyfive2 omg isn't Joe just adorable?!? 😍 bless him, I'm sorry he didn't sleep overly well last night! I'm chickening out of putting in his own room for another week... next Friday! 😳

@ELW85 good on you not giving up your fan! 😂 did MIL visit happen today?

@MrsEG how has Glasthomebury been today? Love that idea lol

@thumper59 aw you'll have to show us what you got for Freddie! Bet he looks super cute 😂

ELW85 · 27/06/2020 21:51

@thumper59 - I can’t imagine braving the shops 😂 got a fierce online habit to make up for it!

@Fivebyfive2 - oh no, what’s up? Are you feeling any better? The buffet sounds wonderful and I’m sure Joe will love it!

@MrsR16 - it did go ahead and new fella was nowhere to be seen. He bottled last Christmas too. It’s all getting a bit silly now!
How’s your day been?

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 27/06/2020 22:41

@ELW85 oh well that's not too bad I guess! Nice for your MIL to see Finn anyway 😊 our day's not been too bad! I'm at that stage of thinking about dropping his 10pm feed... however, I remembered about 10 mins ago that we hadn't put him in a pampers premium nappy and if I didn't change him, he'd leak!! 😂 I hope he stays asleep during a change and feed! Wish me luck...

Fivebyfive2 · 28/06/2020 08:21

@MrsR16, hope your ninja nappy skills kept Ethan sleeping and dry?!

@ELW85, at least dhs mum got to see Finn I guess. Her chap sounds a funnyun, as my nan wo say!

How is everyone? Joe was up every 2 hours again 🙁 Nothing we do seems to make a difference (timing, routine, fed to sleep vs self settle, solids, milk intake, room ambience etc) I genuinely think it's just how he is, but God I hope it gets better soon! I'm trying to cheer myself up by looking for things for my birthday in a couple of weeks... I usually get books and baking stuff, but not as much time for those things nowadays! Maybe the books 🤓 Next week me, Joe, dh, my parents, bro and sil are off to the zoo!

MrsR16 · 28/06/2020 08:47

@Fivebyfive2 it kept him dry! Less of the sleeping though... he was awake for 20 mins before resettling but then we had a rough night 😔 well, roughish! He woke up at half 2, then half 4 and then was wide awake from about 5:15 😴 he's only napped for 40 mins this morning so far too! I am exhausted today! Oh Joe, what are we going to do with you? That's not much fun for anyone involved!

LikeTheFruit · 28/06/2020 09:27

Hello!

Thanks for the new thread, I can't keep up with it these days. Not that I'm doing anything 😂.

We've just booked a couple of holidays, going to Skye for a week in July then Scottish Borders in October. I love a staycation anyway. Hoping Esme manages the car journeys ok, lots of stops required!! Need to get a travel cot.

Think we're going through another leap (when are babies not!). She only wants to sleep on me again, usually after feeding but I'm just going with it and enjoying the cuddles. A friend sent me this poem Which made me feel much better about it all

conscionablecare.com/2019/11/04/test/

We're probably having 2 wakes overnight for feeds which is manageable. Be nice when she starts sleeping for longer but we'll get there.

Signed up for a zoom baby massage class starting next week that I'm looking forward to.

We've been lucky in that my mum lives alone so we're now an "extended household " so can see each other without social distancing. So I'm going to her house twice a week which is great as DH still working from home.

Hope everyone is well and I'll try my best to keep up!

MrsEG · 28/06/2020 10:17

Morning all, I am like the living dead today 😫 the boys slept fine but Conor will now only sleep on his belly and for some reason it’s giving me such anxiety! I was up about every 1.5 hours, I was having very weird vivid dreams in between so I think it wasn’t the best sleep either. I’d just wake up, panic and check him - every time he was sound asleep on his belly so I don’t know why it’s troubling me so much! I am SO happy DH isn’t working today, he’s basically doing everything.

@LikeTheFruit staycations sound great, we’re currently debating the Lakes before I go back to work but just trying to decide if just the two of us and two newborns in a new environment would feel like a holiday at all hahah, or if we wait for Easter next year and go with lots of family. Things like holidays are where I get jealous of singleton families! Enjoy the baby massage - the boys absolutely loved that when they were teeny - Conor used to fart his way through it!! Clearly did him some good! Yep - I honestly think they just go from leap to leap, I’ve found the second I think we’re ‘settled’ they learn something new and it feels like going back to square one. It’s fascinating.... and so exhausting!

@MrsR16 @Fivebyfive2 Sorry to hear about the rough nights! I try and just remember it’s all a phase this baby stuff, in a years time these fretful nights will be a distant memory.
Glasthomebury was fab! Boys did amazing, slept all the way there and then stayed awake and happy for just over 2 hours - I think they were enjoying the new surroundings!

@thumper59 I haven’t braved the shops yet but really want to! The weather is fairly dreadful this week so might go though as my lovely long walks I’ve been doing lately won’t be as fun if I’m drenched!
Ahh - did it worth you when Freddie started belly sleeping?? I don’t know what I’m so nervous about. They’ll be 5 months old next weekend so it’s pretty much the right time for them to be doing it. I can’t understand why I’m so panicked by it!

@ELW85 oh dear - At least as everyone has said MIL has seen Finn for a bit!

Have a lovely day ladies - lots of rest I hope for us all!

MrsEG · 28/06/2020 10:18

*worry you! Not worth 🙈

MrsR16 · 28/06/2020 10:36

@LikeTheFruit hey! Glad you're not doing too badly at the moment. Holiday sounds wonderful! That poem is absolutely spot on... they sometimes just want cuddles! Brilliant to hear that you have extended your social bubble to include your mum too - that must be a relief!

@MrsEG oh, don't... I'm still frequently checking to see if Ethan is breathing! 🙈 I'm so with you on the anxiety side of things! I've attached a photo so you can see and giggle at Ethan's new sleep position! Although weirdly enough, I was chatting to my sister (the one who's got a baby 2 months younger than Ethan) and her little one's doing the same thing! 😂 they have a strange connection!! I'm so pleased the boys did well yesterday!

God I've missed so much didn't get any notifications!

The heat was awful we ended up sleeping in the living room detached then snuzpod cot bit as it was much cooler down there - was 30 in our room!

Charlotte has definitely got CMPA which makes the reflux worse so I'm dairy free and we are doing a bit better. She did 5 hours sleep last night which freaked me out!

Anyone else struggle with the lockdown and actually going to a shop now? I've not been anywhere other than the hospital or midwife since March tried to go to Tesco with DH and Charlotte and had an anxiety attack 🙁 feels like a huge obstacle.

Babies are all looking so cute!! Need Charlotte to do more tummy time she's just not a fan! And was clearly wondering why I'd put a headband on her today!

Have a fab day ladies will do better at keeping up 😂

MrsR16 · 28/06/2020 13:38

@MrsH497 so good to hear from you!! Charlotte looks simply adorable 😍 it did suck about the heat, hey? Glad it seems to have gone back to a slightly more normal temperature now. Oh I'm sorry to hear Charlotte's got cmpa! Hopefully going dairy free will help her out! I've forced myself to go out a couple of times as the first time I said I was going out somewhere I panicked and didn't go! It is hard and a whole new normal, but I promise you'll be ok!

Fivebyfive2 · 28/06/2020 18:53

Well! Joe was not impressed with his buffet... Gagged on the grated cheese and was horrified at the melty puffs 😯 But he liked his pureed fruit. He had ready brek for tea as he did eat much for lunch, that wen down much better, as you can see 😂

Bed time now, hopefully we Haa better night....

MrsH497 · 28/06/2020 19:33

@MrsR16 GP is 99% sure so I've got another week of dairy free then introduce it back and see if her reflux and rashes worsen. I managed to go to the petrol station without Charlotte coming in DH stayed in car with her.

So super early to even think but I've sort of thought of retraining or changing careers while on Mat leave!

MrsR16 · 28/06/2020 19:51

@Fivebyfive2 oh no! Poor Joe! 😂 horrified at the melty puffs... That's hilarious! The ready brek picture is awesome 😍 they absorb food through their skin, don't you know??

@MrsH497 good luck lovely! Yay for being able to leave Charlotte for just a couple of mins! Ooh, what are you thinking career wise?

MrsH497 · 28/06/2020 20:01

@MrsR16 I really don't know just something maybe more family friendly. I've been a police officer for 11 years it's all I know 😂 thought I could look at courses while on mat leave maybe. Suggestions welcome!!

MrsR16 · 28/06/2020 20:32

@MrsH497 Are you a beat copper or are you specialised? I keep debating about trying to join the police, but I think the shift work would be less than easy with a bub!

MrsH497 · 28/06/2020 21:24

@MrsR16 I was a beat copper for 10.5 years and now I work for the chief superintendent of our area so it's more Monday to Friday. The shifts aren't ideal with children. On a response team (beat cop stuff) certainly where we are you have to do night shifts and there's not always the flexibility for childcare and your shifts can get changed at short notice. It's a job I love and if I could guarantee staying in my role and not ending up being moved that would be perfect but with protests happening more and unlicensed music events there's a risk of being sent up to deal with those (obviously not until im back at work 😂)

MrsR16 · 28/06/2020 22:44

@MrsH497 I can only imagine!! I was a Special for 4 years (not purporting to be a "proper" copper by any stretch of the imagination!!) so I definitely get where you're coming from... hopefully you'll get some inspiration over the next few months and figure something out! It's hard to start again - I'm trying to do the same thing and it's ridiculously challenging
