Hi all

As I’m rubbish and keep double posting I thought I’d start a new thread as we’re nearly at 1k.
I don’t have all of the OG’s so apologies for anyone I miss or anyone I miss in general (blaming lack of coffee this morning!!)

@ELW85 Honestly were so glad now we didn’t book anything, we were planning Ireland to see family but decided against it when COVID kicked off. Just the idea of two of them too, it just feels like it would be torture haha!
The tummy time llama! The boys love it. They suck at tummy time so I plonk them on that instead! Saves all the mat licking!! Here’s a pic.
Ah I hate the heat too - sorry to hear you had a shocker of a day too!

@Fivebyfive2 well done Joe on the rolling!

@TrashKitten10 I used to hate touching my scar too. I forced myself to massage it with oil every day to help it fade and now it doesn't bother me.

@MrsEG love the llama!

I think Dex must be taking after me with loving the heat! He slept through last night even though he's teething, I woke up at 6am really confused as I'd expected another unsettled night. I put him to bed in just a thin sleeping bag and nappy.
Our cleaner was here yesterday and Dex was shy, it was so cute - he was holding his face against me then peeking at her.

TrashKitten10 · 25/06/2020 09:51

Oh god the heat 😩 It's 26c in the nursery already and the sun doesn't even hit that room until the afternoon. Daisy miraculously had a brilliant night and didn't hear a peep out of her from 6:30-6 however she's just woken up from her (normally 2 hour) morning nap after 25 minutes. It's going to be a long day! Sorry to hear your nights were awful @MrsR16 @Fivebyfive2 @MrsEG

@MrsEG That's really interesting about the trauma related the the scar and also that you and @stormtrooperjulian struggled to touch your scars too. I thought it was just me! I definitely need to work on being a bit braver then :)

@stormtrooperjulian Aww bless him being all shy ☺️

ELW85 · 25/06/2020 10:13

@MrsEG - I didn’t know that was a thing but I LOVE the photo and am totally gonna steal your idea 😂
Sorry you had a shocking night. Let’s hope tonight is better! How are the naps going?

Finn is currently sat in just a nappy. This is bad if it’s not even midday!
I’ve ordered another fan from Amazon but it doesn’t get here til tomorrow 😢

Stress! Neighbours are having work done and it's sooo noisy, every time I ge Joe to sleep something wakes him! They're at the front and back too so doesn't matter what room I'm in 🤯

TrashKitten10 · 25/06/2020 12:28

Arrrgghh @Fivebyfive2 that's so annoying! As if it isn't hard enough getting babies to sleep in this heat! Have you got a white noise machine? Our neighbour is building a beast of a summerhouse and the nursery is the closest room to their garden but despite 11 hours a day of electric drills, saws and hammering, Daisy's white noise machine seems to drown it out pretty well. It's just me being driven to distraction by it 😂

ELW85 · 25/06/2020 13:19

@Fivebyfive2 - that’s all you need! Our neighbour stopped our cleaner the other day and said they didn’t know we had a baby, should they keep it down.
Which was nice I guess.

Currently playing peace keeper between DH and MiL. His dad passed really suddenly and she’s moved someone else in v quickly so they’ve not really spoken for about a year and we used to go round every weekend...

Lemonysherbet · 25/06/2020 13:20

@mrseg tummy time llama sounds epic!

@Fivebyfive2 that's rubbish about the neighbours, can you play music or something to drown them out?

I'm melting today as I'm sure you all are. Any life hacks to keep jack cool? He's in a nappy and he's still so warm!

MrsEG · 25/06/2020 17:16

@ELW85 @Lemonysherbet The Llama is amazing! It’s great for babies who just don’t enjoy tummy time as it still counts and helps them with lifting their heads etc! defo recommend it!

@stormtrooperjulian Ah bless Dex getting shy!! Bit of a mummy’s boy perhaps?? It’s great he’s powering through the teething!

@TrashKitten10 Amazing that Daisy had a good night! Yeah - I really recommend following hannahjohnsontherapies on Instagram - it was her workshop I went to and she posts loads of useful information about c-sections and scars/healing!

@Fivebyfive2 Ahhh how bloody annoying! I’d be round telling them to stop!!

@ELW85 Oh that doesn’t sound good at all... never ever fun being mediator in family matters!!

We went to a family BBQ today and I was dreading it but it was fine! I was right that it knocked out routine out the window - they normally nap 12-1:30/2 - we left at 12 with two boys asleep in the pram, and they immediately woke up when we arrived at 12:30!! But they did so well - we just fed them and they had a wee splash in the paddling pool and they managed to power through til nearly 3, so we left then and went for a drive for an hour so they could have an air conditioned nap! So currently congratulating myself for getting back on track haha, and out of the house! Slightly early bedtime I think as they seem really tired still but they’re fairly relaxed too - I don’t wanna do anything else to overstimulate them now so they’re just say watching nursery rhymes (parenting at its finest haha!)

I’ve got the fan on in their room so hoping for a better night tonight..... good luck to all!!

ELW85 · 25/06/2020 20:15

@MrsEG - that sounds awesome! I’m jealous of their air conditioned nap, haha!
Llama (well a knock off version) is en route; can’t thank you enough for the tips!

Yes good luck for tonight all. All of Finn’s naps today have been in his Snuzpod (pat/shush assisted!) so he’s not had the epic naps he usually has so putting a late one in now and then doing his bedtime routine later too. Absolutely terrified this will have F’d everything up but there’s not a lot I can do now!

What a day! Joe finally had a proper nap, in the buggy 3.30 till 5 when it was just about cool enough to walk around without me dying. He went to sleep about 8 so we'll see how the night goes. He did enjoy a splash in his bath this afternoon and a good while rolling around in the nip on his giant towel afterwards, that was fun 🙂

Here's hoping for better nights all round ladies! Xx

MrsR16 · 25/06/2020 21:57

@Fivebyfive2 oh I hope Joe sleeps well tonight for you!! 😂 lots of us had rubbish nights last night then! I must admit, I've never been looking forward to a storm more than I am right now!! Your DH sounds awesome! I would be banging on the neighbours' door... you're far more patient than I am!

@MrsEG I hope the twins do well tonight! I'm very grateful Ethan's not bothering with rolling over 😂 that llama looks bloody awesome! And you look incredible too! Family BBQ sounds great 😊 Good luck for tonight 🤞🤞

@thumper59 thanks lovely, today wasn't too bad until this evening... Ethan woke up at just gone 4, which is fine. He then fed at 6, catnapped from 6:30 till 6:42 and fell asleep just 20 mins ago! My poor DH has been through it this evening (thursdays are one of my volunteering nights so he's on baby duty!) 🤣

@ELW85 sounds like you've had a rough time of it! Hope you're treating yourself well! I absolutely love your response to the delivery driver!! Good on you! Oh bless you dealing with your DH/MIL situation! Just what you need right now, hey(?)

@stormtrooperjulian you are a lucky lucky woman! Aw, how cute that Dex was hiding? 😍

@TrashKitten10 oh goodness... short daytime naps are my life right now, so I feel ya!

@Lemonysherbet Ethan loved playing with a cold wet flannel earlier! And also his teething toys in the freezer...

Fivebyfive2 · 26/06/2020 08:18

Hi All, happy Friday! Hopefully it starts to cool down today 🤞

Last night was a little better, he was asleep at 8 and awake at 5.30, with 3 short feeds in between. He's just nodding off now for his morning nap. I've noticed the last few days he's awake a bit longer, more like 2.5 to 3 hours instead of just over 2 hours.

Dh is a bit stressed, someone at his work died with (not necessarily of, he had other problems) covid recently and another colleague has been tested positive this week. He said a few people have been coughing and it has really put him on edge, he was really quiet last night. He only has 3 days next week though, then he has almost 2 weeks off, so that'll be good.

In less serious news, a random cat has appeared in our garden this week, always trying to come inside! I don't think our cat would be happy though. I've put her pic on fb and left some water for her but not food in case she is somebodys and just a wanderer! If she keeps showing up and no one responds on fb I might see if we can get her scanned for a chip at a vets maybe?

ELW85 · 26/06/2020 08:49

Morning all

So we got a 7 hour stretch out of Finn which was great then another 2 hours til 7 after a quick feed, but I’m gutted because he was so sleepy, he fell asleep on his bottle and I couldn’t wake him to put him in the Snuzpod.
I REALLY hope it hasn’t undone the last 5 nights work! We shall see tonight I guess...

Managed to broker an outdoor meeting between MiL and DH. I’m hoping Finn will bring them a bit closer together.
It would have been hers and FiL’s 32nd anniversary yesterday and she text me saying she’s been in bits all week and would have him back in a heartbeat if she could. Proper tipped me over the edge.

@MrsR16 - I definitely have him what for. Total prick. The combo of the double glazed door frame moving and Finn being primally terrified was just too much. How was your night last night? No storms here but it feels a little less tropical today!

@Fivebyfive2 - oh god, your poor DH. Can he work from home? I’m sure it’ll be fine but it’s great that he’s got some time off coming up.
DH got a letter from the NHS asking him to be randomly tested for COVID, so I think he’s hoping he’s had it and is now immune. He’s an engineer and works with a lot of old northern men who think they’re impervious to everything so don’t really abide by any safeguards.
How’s the cat?! We have 2 rabbits that have been evicted to the garage; better than the garden but not quite as comfy as the house 😂

Morning ladies!

@Fivebyfive2 aw that's great news that Joe slept ok last night! And good for him stretching out his awake times! Poor DH - I hope he gets through the next 3 working days ok! Aw I think you're definitely doing the right thing with the cat.

@ELW85 yay for Finn! That's great! Oh goodness your poor MIL... I hope Finn works as a good catalyst 😊 Ethan did really well last night - after his catnap, he eventually fell asleep at half 9ish and then I didn't hear him till about half 5! I then gave it a few minutes, he got quiet so I looked at him and he'd fallen back asleep! My alarm woke us all up at half 6 which was nice!

MrsEG · 26/06/2020 09:58

Morning all!

Ahh, another night, another 7365 night wakings because someone had rolled over and couldn’t get back 😫 two nights on the trot now where I’ve seen every hour! I am wired today. I’ve looked it up and it’s a whole new developmental stage, it’s a combo of they’ve learnt a new skill so want to do it over and over again, and then re-learning how to settle/sleep. Can take 2-3 weeks - so, basically another regression in my eyes - no one warned me about this one! I was only a week out of the last one! Coffee and donuts all day today!

@ELW85 Ha enjoy the llama!! Ahh a 7 hour stretch, go Finn! Hope the outdoor meeting goes well. There’s only so much you can do sometimes!

@Fivebyfive2 Oh your poor DH! How sad. Vets can do that, but a lot of vets are still just going emergency appointments (I know mine are as our dog is overdue his boosters!) but defo worth giving them a call!

MrsEG · 26/06/2020 09:59

Ah missed your post @MrsR16 what a great night for Ethan too! Clearly the heat hasn’t bothered him too much!

MrsR16 · 26/06/2020 10:47

@MrsEG oh goodness! Poor you! I hope they get less excited about this new skill soon!

ELW85 · 26/06/2020 11:36

@MrsEG - Christ!! How are you alive and why are they re-learning to settle themselves? You’re right - nobody does tell you about that.
What’s your donut of choice?
@MrsR16 - yes Ethan!! What a lad!! I think we’ve had two mornings where we’ve needed to wake Finn ever 😂

MiL hasn’t been back in touch about the meeting so I think new guy has thrown a spanner in. That’s me done playing UN negotiator, haha!

OP posts:
MrsEG · 26/06/2020 11:45

@ELW85 the rolling wakes them up so they’re now learning to settle on their bellies - Ruairí actually managed it for an hour 5-6 and slept on his tummy but Conor is still very unsure so I have to go in and calm him down / roll him back over. It’s been painful and I can’t believe it could last as long as 3 weeks!! Boys if you wanna be tummy sleepers that’s just fine but please figure it out soon haha!
We have an amazing independent local seller so I ordered a box - one vanilla custard, one raspberry and one kinder bueno!! Literally have my nose pressed against the window waiting for it haha!
Ugh - you’ve done all you can! When it’s in laws, I do my bit and then just leave it to DH - his family, his problem!

ELW85 · 26/06/2020 12:03

@MrsEG - ah that makes sense about the settling!
Christ, can you send the kinder bueno one my way? That sounds unreal!
I had some biscoff cake last night as DH wanted to order dessert. I regret nothing, haha!

OP posts:
ELW85 · 26/06/2020 12:06

Does anyone have any tips for a white noise machine? Sick of using my phone!

OP posts:
MrsEG · 26/06/2020 13:54

@ELW85 Any, there’s loads on Amazon! The trick I found is just to always use the same setting/noise - ours is always on ‘fan’ so when we switch it out for an actual fan when it’s warm they can’t tell the difference!
The kinder one is the one I’m most excited for!!
Biscoff cake sounds so good - I love anything Lotus!!

Fivebyfive2 · 26/06/2020 15:54

@MrsR16, glad Ethan had a good night 🙂

@ELW85, oh god it sounds like you might be well out of it with mil... Good on you for trying, but it might be something that they'll need to sort themselves over time? Xx

@MrsEG, enjoy your sweet treats, definitely hard earned with the long night's you're having!

So, the cat is one of the neighbours, it's just her collar fell off and apparently she's decided she really likes our garden?! We don't mind, but just hoping she doesn't bother our Maximo too much!

Dh can't work from home unfortunately. At least he's got time off coming up, hopefully things will have settled down by the time he's back?

Had a nice day so far, went for a walk (Joe had a good buggy nap!) then had a play, Joe demolished his lunch and enjoyed a cool bath, followed by in the nip time... He's spark out on my bed now 😂 Hopefully he'll sleep OK tonight.

Anyone got weekend plans? Xx
