Bumper (or anyone, just I know Bumper regularly expresses) - how much EBM do you collect for one feed? I haven't expressed since the very early days when I had to, but with PILs visiting this weekend we're hoping to wangle an afternoon out, without DD. But I'd like to be able to leave a bottle of EBM with MIL. SO am going to make an effort to express over the next few days, but not sure how much I should be aiming for.

trendaverter · 19/09/2007 07:51

good morning all!

I am knackered already
DS woke up at 5.30, DH fed him so I could sleep in for a bit but I couldn't sleep, so I washed the sheets and dusted upstairs.

Then I got carried away and cleared out the kitchen cupboards to make space for all the weaning crap and baby stuff.

I have this massive set of handpainted japanese plates etc that I bought in Aus and I was going to sell them on ebay, but now they are out I cannot bear to part with them

Box in the loft it is then

daisyandbabybootoo · 19/09/2007 08:45

morning....boobs back to normal again (well almost)

sorry you're feeling crap DG...my DS gets ketoney breath as well if he's spoiling for something.

TA...calm down woman you'll be ready for bed at teatime at this rate!

Got all excited there Holly as a courier van just oulled up, but it's for our neighbours....and I just read back that it's not getting collected till today!

Jamantha, it depends when I express as to how much I get. If I do it first thing I usually can get about 8ozs, and it can tail off till later in the day when I sometimes even struggle to get an oz. She tends to take about 6ozs in one go, but what we have noticed is that she treats anything that comes out of a bottle as a snack and is ready for boob as soon as I get back, even if I've fed her just before I go out. I would try and have a couple of 6oz bottles ready, but have a carton of formula just in case?

I often express off the second side after she's fed on one side and top up the little bits through the day then freeze it down at night. hope this helps.

Bumper, I hope you had a good night and things are better on the feeding front.

Jamantha · 19/09/2007 09:08

Thanks daisy, but now I feel really I just expressed and only got 1 oz out! At this rate she'll have about half a feed epressed. I know we have a big tin of formual powder, but really want to leave EBM for her.

I had a bit of a "mummy freak out" this morning. DH, to his credit, picked up on my comments about him not doing much in the mornings, and came and took her (and changed her) while I had breakfast and stuff. But I'd only had her back for about 5 minutes and she was grizling again and I just started crying and ended up running upstairs to have a good sob . I just feel that with not getting a break at the weekend, I've had enough. Pathetic I know, but there you go. I do feel a bit better after a good cry, and DH says he'll try to support me more, but I do feel a bit wobbly still.

Jamantha · 19/09/2007 09:08

Glad your boobs are sorting out Daisy

bumperlicious · 19/09/2007 09:08

Morning all. Feeding seems to be going better although it's been a tough morning as I'm not sure she got enough from the left side, but I'm going to try and keep feeding just from that side. Wasn't helped by the fact that I caught the top of her finger in the pump she was pretty upset, it's a bit red but I hope I haven't done too much damage

Jamantha, until recently I have been giving DD 6oz of ebm, even at night and she would still go through till morning, but we have just upped it and now she guzzles down 7-8oz She's pretty small though so your DD may want a bit more.

Just do't pinch her finger in the pump! [bad mother emoticon]

Got to tidy up, my mum is coming today. Hope the feeding goes ok, otherwise it will be more ammo in her campaign to stop me bfing!

bumperlicious · 19/09/2007 09:11

Jamantha, don't worry, we all still get moments like that. Glad dh is helping out more though.

TA, you want to come round and do my housework while you are ok a roll?

BadZelda · 19/09/2007 09:15

Fuck me I am PISSED OFF this morning
Is it normal to hate husband and child one? I just want to go to a desert island with the LO and forget the rest of the familiy. TBH what is really getting to me is having had an OVERDOSE OF FUCKING CHILDREN over the last few days - my SIL left her one year old here two days running and wanted to leave her again today, but I told her I just couldn't cope with 3 days of 3 children under 3! So I've just had a massive rant at DH and told him he's a total wanker for not sorting out any nursery places for DD1 when I was PAYING HIM to be off work and look after her for 4 months whilst I was off working to earn money for maternity leave. Of course now it's too late to get her into ANY decent nurseries around here.

Jamantha · 19/09/2007 09:22

Don't blame you for feeling children overload, Zelda. Hope you get some space for just you and LO today.

daisyandbabybootoo · 19/09/2007 09:22

BZ, I know exactly how you feel about the desert island....but some days I'd rather just go there by 8myself* .

No wonder you are stressed looking after three of them, goodness only knows how you cope with your own two all day. At least I have a break when DS is at school.

Husbands.....bah humbug to them! Not sure what to suggest there, but have some virtual tea and a biccy

daisyandbabybootoo · 19/09/2007 09:32

Jamantha, sometimes I don't get the let down reflex so only collect what is in the boob. Without sounding like a real weirdo, I've found stroking my boob gently in a circular motion can get things going.

There is some advice here on good hand expressing techniques.

daisyandbabybootoo · 19/09/2007 09:41

Can anyone with older DCs help me here?

TALLULAHBELLE · 19/09/2007 09:43

Looks like one of those days again - sorry for everyone already feeling crap.

DD went down @ 9ish & has slept thru till 8:30. I however went to bed @ 11ish & lay awake till 2am. Just couldn't sleep at all. Ended up pinching couple of spoonfuls of DD's Calpol . Boobs woke me up again @ 6am too & had to get up & express.( Got about 220ml, J, so obviously a good time to do it) Am mad at myself cos could have had a lovely long sleep but just couldn't relax into it.

Nice day out so will endeavour to get out for the mornng. HV coming pm to do PND qust. Should I tidy up & clean or should she see it how it really is?

bumperlicious · 19/09/2007 09:47

Ah T that's gutting isn't it? I find the days where DH does the late night feed or early morning feeds I always wake up anyway and then boobs hurt coz really full and can't get back to sleep! But good on DD though! LOL @ you taking calpol - that stuff's vile!

Right of to get DD looking presentable and clean to see her grandma. I wonder if we can get through the day together without me crying...

foxybrown · 19/09/2007 09:49

Morning all.

Daisy, have posted on your thread.
T - let her see it how it is! Sorry to hear about your crappy night. I had one too. lo slept like an angel in the middle of the bed (I was too tired to transfer her to her basket). Then we were joined by DD1 and DS1. Oh, and DS2 wet his bed. DP snuck into DD1s bed and had the best night sleep in a long time.

When I went to check on DD2 this morning after we'd all got up, she had turned herself around completely. Not sure how.

Right, I'm off to Fat Club. Wish me luck!

TALLULAHBELLE · 19/09/2007 09:50

Good luck Bumper. & hope the feeding sorts itself out - its one step fw, 2 steps back with this B/F malarkey isn't it. Ah well it'll be weaning woes soon enough.

TALLULAHBELLE · 19/09/2007 09:51

And Good luck Foxy.

foxybrown · 19/09/2007 09:53

Oh dear, Bumper. Don't be sad. You too Jamantha - tears and babies go hand in hand.

BZ - hope you are having a chance to recover today. Am a bit that someone even asks you took look after their lo when you've got a new baby yourself!

foxybrown · 19/09/2007 09:54

Aw Bollocks. I know have vomit all down my back, down the back of my trousers. over the sofa cushions and the sofa cover (which has just been washed, obviously). buggerbuggerbuggerbuggerbugger.

Charlie999 · 19/09/2007 10:42

morning all - one of those days eh? I have a grizzlyguts of a DD today who won't let me put her down.

FFS

Jamantha · 19/09/2007 10:46

me too charlie. But I've had to put her in her cot and she can cry all she f'in likes for 5 or 10 minutes or I think I'll go totally mad and do something bad. Feel like a rubbsih mummy though

Jamantha · 19/09/2007 10:49

I don't actually care at the moment that she's crying her heart out up there. I just couldn't cope with her any longer. Feel and that I feel like this and know I will be vewry upset and apologetic when I do go to get her, but can't think what else to do for the moment
