Oh theres a lot of shitty times about, aren't there?

You aren't on your own here TA, I just can't enter into the nappy theme. Am fully landfill.

Oh here comes a crying child. Back later

Jamantha · 18/09/2007 19:07

Sorry TA, was too engrossed in a RL conversation with DH about where we are going on Sat night His parents are babtsitting!!

trendaverter · 18/09/2007 19:12

oooh Jamantha!
Nice meal and a movie? or is that too boring?

No worries Foxy, my DH glazes over when I speak nappy. He is very good at feigning interest though.

Jamantha · 18/09/2007 19:13

I think it's going to be a nice meal, we were just debating where. I think we've settled on a local gastro-pub.

trendaverter · 18/09/2007 19:14

my childminder will babysit for £4.50 per hour, we fully intend to utilise her services

Jamantha · 18/09/2007 19:14

DS - playing at friends house
DH - working

bumperlicious · 18/09/2007 19:28

Fuck, DD just refused to feed from me. Not sure why, she would open her mouth and try to latch on but couldn't clamp down and was crying an getting frustrated.

Fortunately I had a bottle of ebm that I had gotten out of the freezer (plus the one that leaked - grr!) but DH had volunteered to do both the last night feed and the early morning feed, and now he won't able to do either. Can't express any either. Maybe she isn't getting any out. Don't know what to do and I am knackered

bumperlicious · 18/09/2007 19:34

Hi derlor by the way

derlor · 18/09/2007 19:37

Bumper, did she feed ok from the bottle?
Derlor winks back as too busy typing to wave!!

bumperlicious · 18/09/2007 19:38

And now I want ice cream, but with my weight watchers points I could have it but probably would be able to eat tomorrow!

bumperlicious · 18/09/2007 19:39

Yeah, she gulped the bottle down. Been having trouble on the left side with her not feeding, but this time it was both. When I tried to express I couldn't get anything out. Could I be empty?

derlor · 18/09/2007 19:42

do you feel engorged?
Whats been happening?
how long has she been struggling from L side?
and have you been continuing to express successfully from both sides??
(sorry, lots of questions you've probably been through all this already while i've been on MN leave )

Jamantha · 18/09/2007 19:45

Hi Derlor.

Bumper, not sure. I know my DD seems to get very little out of me at this time of night as she's guzzled so much all afternoon.

Really hoping tonight goes better than last night. But we have calpol and bonjela on standby.

bumperlicious · 18/09/2007 19:52

do you feel engorged? no

Whats been happening? she opens he mouth, i put her over the breast but she won't clothes her mouth, gets upset and pulls away

how long has she been struggling from L side? she's never liked it but on a few occasions in the past month she has not been able to latch on as above, this morning she fed from the left but kept falling asleep so I took her off, so I tried her on the right (she usually only feeds one side at a time except last thing at night) and she gulped it down

and have you been continuing to express successfully from both sides?? until now yes, when I get round to it, which is usually most mornings and sometimes throughout the day or at night if DH is giving her ebm.

Saw the bfing counsellor today at the bfing group about the left side thing and she didn't seem to know what the cause might be , but that was when it was just the left.

bumperlicious · 18/09/2007 19:53

sorry, that's not a shouty 'no'

derlor · 18/09/2007 19:53

Hi Jamantha, good point cause FWIW i'm really empty by this time in the evening too - always feed DD before puting her down to bed but i often feel she is just using me as a dummy due to lack of milk.
Why don't you just have a wee bit of ice cream and get a good night's sleep then try feeding again in the morning when she will be more hungry?
start off by offering the side she likes the least to try to encourage her to take it x

derlor · 18/09/2007 19:56

sorry X post but i've thought of a possible reason for this - i'll email you just now as it's a bit personal and i don't want to make you have to talk about it on an open forum!!

bumperlicious · 18/09/2007 19:57

Thanks derlor, she hasn't been feeding more than usual today. I usually wake her at 10.30 for a feed, hopefully I will have more milk by then. If I leave her now she'll probably wake up at 1 or 2, not sure I could manage that (well, obviosly I could but I would feel even more like crap!)

derlor · 18/09/2007 20:01

bumper just going to put DD1 to bed, i'll email you in about 1/2 hour xx

bumperlicious · 18/09/2007 20:06

Brill, thanks for the help derlor. Gosh, this must be like a busman's holiday for you!

daisyandbabybootoo · 18/09/2007 20:14

bumper, not sure if this'll help, but there are lots of threads here on nursing strikes for various reasons. Maybe try searching the archives of putting out a big Help Me post on the BF threads.

sorry you're feeling crap as well.

It's been a hell of a week for everyone hasn't it?

On the lighter side of things, DD has discovered that she can use her voice in various ways and has spent the day gurgling and shouting...not cos she's upset...just cos she can. It has been very funny at times, but I'm so glad she is in bed for some quiet.

Hey Derlor...I got your message thanks!

justbeme · 18/09/2007 20:20

went 2 a baby massage/postnatal group today - 7 girls and one boy - cant remember if our gang here had more girls than boys.
3 of them are in a NCT clique though and were discussing the meet up their going to tomorrow round one of their houses - made me feel abit left out. This course is for 4 weeks so have to see if I get any RL friends out of it.

Oh and my DPs mum has just gone home - my comments werent mentioned!
