afternoon ladies

ceebee - well done on handling the babysitting, chocolate was def required clever josh, its great to see how they're developing all the time isnt it

bloss - fab job on the cake, looked great. glad harry had a great day, im sure the dummies will be forgotton soon, nothing wrong with a nightlight id say.

hc - hope the wine soothed your sore throat

lysette - charlotte is like that too when singing on tv, she stops what shes doing and stares at the screen until its finished. i do the ignoring here too at the tantrums, works well
dinner party menu looks yummy

annie - glad joey enjoyed her first day, how sweet of your dh to cry

soph - congrats

all going pretty well here, been out in the lovely weather here all week. dh and i are off to paris on tuesday so getting excited but sad at leaving charlotte. i know she'll be fine as shes going to be in her own home with my mum.

il's looked after her last week overnight and dd has been eating by herself since she was 11 months (fingers mainly) which i love as am so proud of her managing by herself, so what about the mess, it cleans up. anyway she normally has toast & fruit or eggs for breakfast as she manages this well herself, mil told me she fed her weetabix instead and i think she fed her her other meals too. i am annoyed by this as she is my child and she should do things the way we want surely, am i completely overreacting?

ok, im rambling on now, better go xx

jacobandlysette · 13/09/2007 18:14

hey beadmum!

i don't think you're overreacting as we all do things a certain way. believe me when my parents looked after jacob for an afternoon and evening i gave them a timetable of what is done when, what he can (and more importantly can't eat like chocolate anything else with loads of sugar in that they would think is a treat for him fgs) eat, etc etc etc - my mum just looked at it and rolled her eyes.

would have probably been a good idea if she'd asked you if she has cereal etc if she was planning on feeding it to her, and she probably did it so as not to have all the mess. I know my mother and MIL would go mad at the mess we have here for mealtimes! Especially the food that gets smeared on his chair

in short and to stop rambing don't think you are over reacting!

Evening all, just popping in before bed!

Thanks for all the lovely congrats messages.
Lysette- I am due on 18th April but both the others have been well over a week late so probably much nearer your dd. Just can't get over how hungry I am. Hope Jacob feels better soon- my two are both full of the cold atm.

Beadmum- I don't think you're over reacting- nobody else does things the way we do (cos obviously we are the best mums in the world and no one else can look after our children as well as we do ). I just turn a blind eye to it though and think 'well at least I'm getting some time off' and it helps to chill out about some stuff which isn't going to make much difference in the whole scheme of things- in fact is probably good that our children learn to be more flexible in that different people do/allow different things. Man I'm rambling too!

Going to the zoo tomorrow so must get some sleep- will have to walk a million miles uphill pushing a double buggy!

Night, soph x

Howdy folks
Sorry not been on for a while but have been trying to keep up. Day off today, hurrah.

Beadmum ? have a FAB time in Paris, I?m quite !! We haven?t been away for ages but are off to Scotland with my parents soon, not really planned where we?re going, possibly Mull for a bit. Clever Charlotte feeding herself! If it?s of any consolation re the IL?s annoying feeding habits Emma still does a mixture of finger feeding, spoon feeding herself (after a fashion) and being spoon fed and doesn?t seem too bothered how it happens, so hopefully C will just carry on as normal when she?s at home with you. Annoying though if you have left instructions

Lysette ? glad all?s going well with you, hope Jacob?s better today. Emma says ?oh dear? all the time, it?s her favourite expression. She will throw her toys out of the cot, then look over the edge all concerned going ?oh dear? as if she knows nothing about how they got there?

Big congrats Soph

Annie ? yes it?s a fab age isn?t it (I say that about every age though lol, I was convinced that she wasn?t going to get any cuter after 3 months?) K sounds like she?s doing fabulously! It?s a heart-wrencher leaving them at nursery to begin with isn?t it, bless your DH Glad Joey?s getting on okay there. Hope you get some more sleep soon, that?s a punishing schedule you?re on

Re understanding things, I was a bit staggered to realise that Emma knows what a sock is - her sock was upside down and hanging off so I moaned ?what?s going on with your sock?? and she looked down and pulled it off!

Bloss ? yay for the cake, like the recipe / cake comparison shot! Glad H had a fab birthday. I think it?s fine about the night light too, I had one for a while as a child then grew out of it, don?t see what harm it can do really.

Spin ? hope you carry on enjoying the IL?s Take the opportunity to go out with DH and get ratted (assuming they are there for a while)!

HC and Kbaby ? gorgeous pics of the girls in their uniforms, hope they are getting on okay

Re dummies and bottles ? Emma has a dummy at nap and bedtime, and occasionally if she?s upset and tired when we?re out. I?ve always been a bad mummy and used a soother saver at night so she can find it if she wakes up and wants to find it She is offered two 5oz bottles of formula a day mid morning and late afternoon, doesn?t always drink them all. Not sure what to do about the early morning bf ? supply seems to be less now and she gets annoyed and frustrated so not much fun for either of us, so I?ve missed a few mornings this week as it?s probably time to give up

Re tantrums, yes I still usually laugh or try to ignore. What I find most difficult is dealing with being laughed at when I say NO, it?s hard to know how to ?escalate? the telling off when they just ignore you. I usually end up physically moving her away from the object if she really won?t leave it alone. She is getting better (I think at leaving things like the telly alone now though).

Will stop now as this is getting a bit long, have good days all xxx

FirstAtForty · 14/09/2007 12:31

Spin - meant to say good luck with the ebaying and well done on the P&T, it's amazing isn't it!

I had a similar experience with the Buzz, if it hadn't been for the delivery charge when new I would have made a profit on selling it used, made it quite cheap to own. Shame that doesn't apply to all the other stuff I buy lol.

AnnieOleHouseElf · 14/09/2007 12:54

Crap, just did a big long post and deleted it.
Crap.

AnnieOleHouseElf · 14/09/2007 12:55

It wasn't that great anyway...

AnnieOleHouseElf · 14/09/2007 12:56

Crap I can't be arsed to re-make-it-up.

Hi Everyone!!
COngrats Soph!!

Later...

AnnieOleHouseElf · 14/09/2007 14:59

Hi Girls!

I'll try not to press delete this time! (knob)

We had a great day yesterday, we went to Paradise Wildlife Park. We went on Saturday too, and got a season pass so we can go as often as we like for a year. It's fab!! Joey loved feeding the goats and then we discovered they have a new soft play area (with Starbucks!) and a paddling pool area as well, so we'll go better prepared next time. AND it was a gorgeous sunny day. Joey also loved the alligator and wanted to stay by him all day. My hilarious joke 'see you later alligator' was lost on everyone as we were leaving... Kayley spent most of it in the pram but she was pointing at everything and babbling away so I think she like it too!

First, hi! Thanks for the comment re the sleep, I really hope so too!! One day soon...
Emma sounds like she's getting on really great as well. LOL at 'oh dear!' I know that one well too!!!

Soph, congrats again! My two are 15 months apart so I know how you are coping with your two at the moment, but you are hero for going again!! Hope it all goes well, and I would say rest up and take it easy, but what are the chances of that with two toddlers!!!

KZ Well done to Roshi!! It was only yesterday she was still holding on no??

jacobandlysette · 14/09/2007 15:15

annie yes i think soph meant due date. no spin we don't know what we're having but apparently there is some test you can now buy for £189 to tell the sex at 6 weeks but we're not going to do that. bit ridiculous i think.

soph are you in wellington??????? is just the place to be pushing that double buggy up hills especially to get to the zoo. my Ils are in melrose and every time we visit we drive past the zoo pretty much every day and have never once been in. except one evening we went past a few years ago and there was a cabbage tree on fire. never seen a real life out of control fire before. It was quite something!

anyway, annie i was so sick after the curry last night and then opening the bin with the cartons in this morning nearly led to a repeat performance. so no curry for me for a couple of months i don't think. but i was thinking of singapore noodles for a spicy dish, and our chinese up the road does them really well! Man all i seem to think about at the moment is food.

anyway, went to the docs this morning with jacob. Ceebee Josh and Jacob really are virtual twinnies - it would seem that the temperature and the sore throat are a reaction to the MMR - the measles bit and the mumps bit both coming out! Doctor suggested a full does of medised together with a half dose of calpol 3 times a day, so we'll see if that sorts it out. Jacob has this weird rasping grizzle going o nat the moment because his throat is swollen and sore poor little man. But on the flip side, he's slept till 3.30 and 4am the last 2 nights before waking up which is something at least!

anyway i must away I can smell a nappy to be changed

jacobandlysette · 14/09/2007 15:54

have the of admiting to having the alan titchmarsh show on this afternoon but had to ell you all that jacob is sitting there completely mesmerised at mick hucknall on the tv!!! i mean, seriously, sitting staring and listening.

lol please all of you!

xxxx

ceebee74 · 14/09/2007 17:00

Ooh big catch up coming?.

Bloss ? that cake looks fabulous ? did it taste as good as it looks (although that is obviously a silly question with you be the Goddess ). Glad Harry had a good birthday.

Hc ? hope you are on the mend. I have also had a sore throat (where it hurts when you swallow) which, looking at Lysette?s latest post, I am wondering if I have got a mild dose of mumps from Josh (is that even possible ladies ?)

Pretty ? well done on the reverse parking. I think I can honestly say that in my 16 years of driving, I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I have reversed parked as I hate hate hate it ? would rather park somewhere else and walk! So well done on doing it so soon!

Lysette ? how spooky for Josh and Jacob eh? Glad he is on the mend though. . Big sympathies about the sickness ? I remember it well and am certainly not looking forward to going through that again! And, definitely lol at Mick Hucknall. I think I got the better end of the deal with Josh being obsessed with James Blunt ? MUCH nicer to look at!

Beadmum ? am about Paris but you go and have a fantastic time and try not to worry about what your MIL is getting up to. It is only a few days and Charlotte will soon revert to normal when you are back. Don?t let it spoil your lovely treat eh?

Right ? hi to everyone I missed as I have noticed the time and it is home time ? yippee (not that I am doing this at work or anything ? I?m not Annie you know )

Will try part 2 of the catch up later.

x

jacobandlysette · 14/09/2007 17:05

ceebee - it's not just mick hucknall! every national anthem in the rugby world cup he's adicted!

if you have caught mumps from josh then i have them from jacob as i've got exactly the same thing - [spooky]

HumphreysCorner · 14/09/2007 21:36

Evening one and all

GGGGRRRHHHH at all the sore throats. Think mine is an ulcerated throat as occasionally get ulcers on the back of my throat.

Em is soooo tired after school but then so am I. It's all dropping off and picking up-pushchair out and pushchair in. Have spoken to a few mums now-am going to have to get a MN t-shirt to try and find out if any of them are MNetters.

I too am stunned at what Sophie knows. Don't remember Em doing all this but then she was too busy climbing the stairs and running about. Sophie sits and takes it all in.

Off to bed now as knackered so love to all.

Morning all

Not been on for ages (as usual).

I am soooo busy atm with my childminding.I have lots of lo's to look after. My morning routine goes

6am up and shower, hang out washing/iron or whatever
7am first mindee arrives
7am-8am ds's up and showered and off to school/dd's up dressed and fd
8am 2nd mindee arrives

11.45 pick up dd1
3.15 pick up mindee 1
4.30 take mindee 3 home
5pm mindee 2 gets picked up
6.45 mindee 1 gets picked up

Really really hate the getting the double buggy in/out/in/out and the short car journeys. It exhausts me

But it will pay for Christmas for my money daft ds1 lol.

Dd1 getting on well at nursery. They are doing Transport as a topic and the nursery had a trip into Edinburgh on the train.Dh went too and really enjoyed seeing his little girl with all her friends.

Eilidh has just cut her 3rd tooth, and is chatting away. It's amazing how they all of a sudden nod at the right times etc.Like if i say kids it's snack time she goes yes yes and crawls off very fast to her highchair. If i say are you tired i only put her down if she nods and says yes otherwisw i dont bother.

Great to hear all your news,i do read through the posts when i can but rarely have time to post.

Better go get girls ready.dh has a guy he knows who has a valeting business so he is doing mine this afternoon for half price.Better get all the sweet/crisp papers etc out

kbaby · 15/09/2007 22:08

Sorry Girls, had a busy week and haven?t been able to get on. I will try and do better.

DD likes school but apparently does nothing, speaks to no one and doesn?t know who the teachers are. I did hear from another mum that they went blackberry picking but DD denies all knowledge.

Its been gorgeous weather wise here so weve been to the park most days with friends. Jamesey(as hes known by DD) loves the slides particularly climbing up the wrong end and has also been conker picking with DD. I think he must be saying something as he says something and if you ask him again he says exactly the same thing, shame I can?t understand it though. He understands what you say and shouts at me if he ugh urgh at something and I don?t reply.

I had to have a chat with MIL this week over the amount of sweet stuff they are giving DC. So far I know that DS has had pop and is having chocolate or ice cream every day, I am really about it, its not as if he needs any of it.

Dh has been out since 11am drinking and been to watch the rugby and ive had a text from my friend to say hes passed out and is sleeping with his head on the pub table for the last 35 mins, classy eh!

Wallace- I got pregnant with DS when DD was 17months old so she was 2.2yrs when he was born. The first few months were tough but then he was colicky and a crier so that prob made it worse. I don?t think there will ever be a perfect age gap just go for when you feel right.

Bloss- Hope no dummies is going well. When we tried to take DD?s away it all ended in tears so she had them back I cut the very ends of all the teats, then a day later cut further. By day 3 she just simply said they were all broken now and she was chucking them out and I had to buy new ones, which of course I conveniently forgot to do. It was a much easier process as there was no crying and she took the final decision. Hope the same will work for DS! Your cake looks scrumptious.

Congrats Soph!

Sorry everyone for the random topics and long thread.

I'm still here

Haven't even had time to read the messages, but I will leter and do a catch-up

TheGoddessBlossom · 16/09/2007 09:39

Toby does that climb up the slide the wrong way thing too!

H's party yesterday went great, bit stresful to get it all there and organised but fine in the end and they all seemed to have a good time. And that's just a bouncy castle and a pass the parcel, imagine how stressful it will be when you have to do proper party games and the parents drop the little darlings off and peg it! Harry got given a sportacus outfit it is fantastic! No more parties for a while now thank god, I'm organised-out.

KBaby, LOL at DH blotto, I think our DH's would get on....good idea re dummies - but I think we have turned a corner, he was asleep within 10 minutes without it last night, yes he was extremely knackered but even so....no way I would have given them back to him, I am far too stubborn. I'd be so cross about all the sweet stuff too, every day is too much.

Gorge weather here too!

Bloss

Hi all

Congratulations Soph!!! Fantastic news. Hope it all goes well and you're not too cream-crackered.

Loved the pie t-shirt K/SSS!!! And bless Queen Roshi with her 'gioma' - that girl's got the right attitude!! V funny. Not surprised her behaviour is so advanced - she's always sounded v clever. Have fun with ILs. LOL at your drugs fess-up! I always have selective amnesia with those sort of questions... !

Bless your DH, Annie - what a great wuss!!! Ahhh! V sweet. And what a genius Kayley is! Sounds like the girls are generally more advanced than the boys - but we knew that anyway, eh girls?!

Sorry to hear you had a miscarriage, HC. That must have been horrible at the time.

The milk question is interesting, Sleep - Ryan hardly drinks any. I've been trying to give him cow's milk at night since I cut out night b-feeding two weeks ago but he doesn't seem to like it - have tried it in cups, bottles, bazookas, everything. I still b-feed when he wakes up at 7am and he has milk on his porridge and eats lots of cheese/yoghurt - so I just hope he's getting enough calcium.....

Just a quick shout out to those we've not heard from in a while - Castille, Numpty, Jeanie etc - hope you're all ok.

I find my supply in the mornings ebbs and flows, Forty - it's best if I've not drunk any alcohol the night before and am well hydrated. I'm wondering how long we can go on with just one feed but it seems to be going ok so far - so don't give up if you don't want to!

Hope everyone who was ill is feeling better - we've had The Cold From Hell in the Impy Household - all picked up from Ry's nursery I reckon. Just hope Ry doesn't get as ill as often as last winter....

Going to the gyno on Wed to find out what's going on down near my c-section scar...... been really weird for weeks, kind of feels numb and lumpy inside and I've been freaking myself out by Googling symptoms and coming up with all sorts of scary scenarios.... So finger's crossed it's nothing serious...!

Ryan's still not walking alone - feels like he's been at the same stage for ages. He does the whole phone to ear thing, saying "hi ya" which is v sweet. I feel like he understands loads too - often tell him to be careful and not to do stuff and he generally listens.... he's a little sweetheart!

Anyway, love to all. Hope you're all having a great weekend.

Impy xxx

ceebee74 · 16/09/2007 20:41

Lysette ? I hope both you and Jacob are feeling better ? and you are getting loads of rest!

Agalch ? it makes me tired just reading your day . You must have so much energy to cope with it all! Josh also does the nodding of the head at naptimes ? like you, I only put him down if I ask him and he nods (and then he gets very excited at the sight of the cot so it must be right).

Kbaby ? lol at ?Jamesey? ? so very cute! Agree with the sweet stuff issue. Josh gets stuff like that occasionally and every day is definitely too much. Hope your MIL took it ok.

Spin ? hope you are getting lots of rest with the IL?s and enjoying having them around. Josh has cut 4 molars now but still no canines either ? he has 10 teeth now.

Bloss ? glad H?s party went well and he looks fab as sportacus! BTW, I have sent you a facebook ?friends? request but forgot to write a message so you will have no idea it is me ? but now you do so feel free to accept it

Impy ? lovely to hear from you. Bit scary about your c-section scar. I get mile twinges very occasionally but that is it ? really hope the gyno can give you some answers.

Josh has 3 words now ? hiya, quack quack and ?bab? which is crab in our language . He has also improved a hell of a lot with the walking and will walk for at least 10 steps at a time and is doing it several times a day of his own accord. Nearly time to go to Clarks I guess (I think I will wait until after the holiday).

He also has got another cold/cough and spectacularly puked in my car this afternoon ? it really was disgusting (TMI but loads of huge undigested lumps of what looked like bread!). Fortunately he waited until we were in the driveway at home otherwise I don?t know what I would have done. As it is, I had to carry him into the house and sit him in the downstairs sink while I undressed him ? very undignified!! I am guessing that he is just going to be one of these babies that is sick a lot as it happens everytime he gets a cough!

Anyway, enough about me ? hope you all had a good weekend x

jacobandlysette · 17/09/2007 11:18

hi just a quick one before monkey music! am cutting it fine as it is.

jacob has now been asleep for nearly 2 hours i nhis buggy!

sleeping is going a little better with him - he can now at least be put in his cot with his eyes open just has to be very tired and on the way to sleep.

everything ok with the little bean i think. we are off to have a scan tomorrow. we got a private early one with jacob as dh wouldn't believe i was pg till he actually saw it! just kept saying "if we are pg".....
