Ahhhh. so lovely to read how your LOs are progressing.
Sefton hardly ever crawls anymore, and if I try to hold his hand whilst walking he snaps it away from me, doens't want any assistance thank you very much. SO it does take a while to walk anywhere...he toddles off in the wrong direction - towards a car if he can (parked of course - to have a look). He doesn't say as many words as most of the others, but he did say hello to me on Saturday which melted my heart.
He is still fixated on his dummy and it soothes him so we are not being too strict at getting rid of it just yet, wlthough we do take it ouy whenever we can.
How much milk are your LOs drinking? ANd have you abandoned bottles? I am not sure what to do next

Annie, so sweet that your DH shed a tear! Awwwwwwwwwwww

MaeWest · 11/09/2007 19:23

DS took a few steps towards me today [proud]. He did a couple for DH last week, but this was first time for me. Was beaming all over his face

No words tho... occasionally 'nana' for banana and the ubiquitous 'dada'. Plenty of 'talking', but blow me if I know what it all means...

ceebee74 · 11/09/2007 19:40

HC ? glad Em?s first day was good. Hope her second day was just as good. about the MC (you too KZ)

Bloss ? HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Harry ? hope you all had a fantastic day.

Annie ? Kayley sounds so clever and well done on the swimming. Bless your DH for having a tear in his eye ? how sweet. Hope the day went well for you all.

Spin ? clever Roshi aswell. We don?t have a 1 year check up here.

Sleep ? Josh is still on 2 bottles a day (8-9oz each) morning and night. Will move him to cups at some point but not right now.

Mae - congratulations to your DS on the walking. It is great isn't it? Josh is becoming more confident by the day and will just set off walking from the table/sofa for a few steps (not very often mind!)

Despite Josh only saying one word, he understands so much more. He will nod and say ?eh? to questions such as do you want a yoghurt, banana, nap ? and he really does understand what we are saying as he gets very excited at all 3 of these and seems to know exactly what is coming. He also shakes his head when he doesn?t want something so he clearly knows the difference between a shake and a nod.

The babysitting went well today. All 4 children behaved and it went well (possibly due to the chocolate that we bought on the way home from school ).

TheGoddessBlossom · 11/09/2007 21:24

Annie that is very sweet about your DH crying. Awww.

Blimey uve all been chatting loads today!

I have had an epic day starting at 6am, pressies for birthday boy, then packing r our picnic and day out at Wellington which was just fantastic, god I love that place, the sun shone and all the kids had a ball, and H got some great pressies. Toby took four steps on his own, he was so pleased with himself.

Then when we got back, my friend's husband, a policeman, came round in full uniform to take Harry's dummies away "to give to a baby that needs them" you should have seen Harry's face and the policeman gave Harry a present he has wanted for ages in exchange. So all was fine until bedtime - usually H goes down without a murmur, tonight we had 2 hours of crying, "I am very sad Mummy" and he has finally dropped off with a night light. DH says I am replacing ne reliance with another, but I felt so cruel, and he said he was scared....What do you think? My poor baby, feel really mean, he was sobbing...

Birthday cake was fantastic though what do you think? Am dead pleased with it and it tasted great. [proud]

Hi to everyone, glad things are falling into place Spin. (Everytime I post on here I go off MN singing "Spin Spin Sugar...." )

HC - if my MIL started anything like potty training with my kid without a) discussing it with me b) my full agreement and c) my permission she would be sent packing with a flea in here ear, car/caravan or no car/caravan. Just my opinion.

Night all.

Happy B'Day to Harry. Bless his cotton socks re his dummy. I have never used dummies so can't imagine how difficult it is to wean children off them but would say you have absolutely done the right thing to take them away and in such a nice way. Crikey, cake looks totally Delia Smith like.

Off to bed ladies as my throat feels like it has been sliced open with a knife. Sure there must be too many points in honey so had Blossom Hill instead.

Bloss that looks like an amazing cake! Glad Harry had a good birthday. I'm sure he'll get used to doing without his dummy, but tell DH that everyone has things they rely on to help them sleep e.g. I like to read until I'm sleepy. A nightlight isn't causing any probs for anyone else and if it comforts Harry that's the main thing...

prettymum - I got into such a state in a multistorey carpark once that I got out of the car and asked a bystander to park it for me

HumphreysCorner · 12/09/2007 10:47

Took Em to school this morning and there is another little girl starting today so the teacher asked Emma if she would look after her. The little madam kept running off leaving me apologising to the parents and trying to make things OK. The poor mum was in tears as it was. So cross with Emma.

prettymum-when I first passed my test I couldn't park at all and used to get my friend to back out of any spaces I had managed to get into. Even now I only park somewhere away from other cars that I know I can safely arrive and depart in one piece. Had lots of lovely blue stripes on my old car from the multistorey carpark.

Bloss-Emma has a nightlight. It is awful when we have a power cut. In the caravan we had to leave the bathroom light on for her. In the new caravan they have little lights above each bunk. I used to have a nightlight as a little girl and so will Sophie.

Just been to the vets so having a cuppa then it's off to Tescos. Have a good day.

hi everyone did a masive post yestreday afternoon which jacob then wiped with one press of a button!

HC so sorry you went through MC

I would seriously "talk" to P's PIL's if anyone tried doing anything with jacob like potty training etc without my say so.

Jacob is just so on the go as well al lthe time at the moment. Monkey music started on monday and he wasn't interested in the music just crawling around looking at all the other children. He even sat i nthe middle of the circle at one point and waved at everyone - very sweet but a tad precious too.... Am too trying to make friends with other mums and feeling a little alienated. I think it just takes time.

I know i've missed everyone out who i was going to specifically reply to, but CB jacob is also fascinated by men singing at the moment - cue dead silence when they sing the anthems before EVERY rugby world cup match that he is awake for! DH getting worried, but i think it's the singing. He was also mesmerised by pavarotti on the tv when it was all about his death and funeral and they were replaying the nessun dorma.

And as for tantrums! He can throw them like nobody's business. what do you all do when this happens? we tend to ignore or DH laughs.

Am starting to feel a little sicky but seems to pass with some water or eating something bland so that's all good. Booking appointment yesterday and all seemed to be ok. Although you had to say if you'd ever used drugs and of course the odd joint at uni so had to say yes. Then they ask if you were using when you became pg and if you need drug support assistance!!!!

also with words he's a bit up and down. the following are a favourite

go go go
geler geler (or variations, not sure what it means though)
dat doh (thank you)
and he came out with oh dear when he dropped something yesterday - ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh dear not sure he meant it though
and waaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh is a favourite too.

must post before he wipes it all again

will catch up properly on posts soon

Hi Girls,

Lysette, what a sweetie Jacob is!

Mae, LOL at you asking a bystander to park your car!!! I don't drive, so I can't really laugh, but once we were driving down a side street and something up ahead was blocking the road so we had to reverse, and there was one car behind us, a woman with a baby in the car seat next to her. DH was gesturing to her to reverse, but she didn't budge, then she got out and came to DH and asked him to reverse for her, cos she couldn't!! So he got in her car with her baby while she stood on the side of the street!!! Congrats to Dom on walking
Pretty, I'm sure you parked very well! My sis once got a cheer from a group of people sitting in a cafe after taking about 10 minutes to park in a very tight space!

HC, hope your throat is better today. And Em is enjoying her third day at school! She must have been very excited to get there.

Bloss, as ever, you provided a fantastic memorable day for your boys! Brilliant cake!

Ceebee, it's great when they can understand!! Makes it so funny when you tell them to do something (not really meaning it) and they do!

Sleep, we've just started giving K cow's milk, and she drinks maybe about 20 oz over the course of the day (and night). We try and just give her a beaker during the day, unless she gets really upset about it, but still bottles at night. I've tried water a few times at night, but it's no good, she just gets hysterical so I give in!

KZ, yes it was Kayley who wanted to walk holding hands ALL the time. Drove me nuts too!! Soon she'll be off on her own soon though, it only lasts a few back breaking weeks!! Now she walks by herself and like Sleep's Sefton, doesn't want to hold my hand, though I make her on the road (obviously!)
Yesterday, DH, J and K came to meet me from the train station, I spotted them along the road, all three walking holding hands!! Melted my heart!!

Joey got on fine at Nursery. They said he was ok until he realised we weren't there after about an hour! Then he cried a few times. DH was supposed to pick him up at 12, but thought it was 12.15 (despite me telling him twice and texting him just before 12) and so when he got there, Joey was waiting alone with one of the staff while all the afternoon kids were eating lunch. His lip quivered when he saw DH but he held it back... DH told me this on the phone, and, yes, ladies, I have married a big wuss, he was trying not to cry again...
But overall I think it went well. We went to Sainsburys and bought him his own schoolbag after! He was carrying it round all evening!

Well girls I better go before I fill this entire thread. Back to work, we're having a lab clear out today, so very industrious!

Have a good afternoon all

Annie

thanks for cake comments girl. I am very proud of myself (might have mentioned that? )

H did finally drop off at about 9pm, and slept right through and seemed to be fine without a dummy in the car, he only other place he ever had one. No way I am backing down, not even last night when I really wanted to,not after all the police palaver.

PMSL at all the car stories, LOL at Annie's sister getting applause! Bless them all holding hands Annie, and Joey with his school bag.

Lysettes glad appt went ok, LOL at the drug thing, I know what you mean, you feel you have to dedgeup every toke you've ever had! I took my mum to my booking in appt when I was pregnant with H, it was terrible!

Both boys asleep, and not a dum dum in sight...

annie jacob is not a sweetie when he sinks his teeth in. also he's just driven his trolley right into the feet of the childminder and then stood and giggled at her.....

bless him he's getting so affectionate though now - if he is in with us at night (which is still frequently from time to time at the moment), and he wakes up he gives DH a kiss to wake him up and play. DH generally loves it, even at 5.15am

not much else to report though here - bloss meant to say your cake looked great! I will be vying for domestic goddessness after my birthday dinner party - prepare to salivate ladies!

french fish soup with croutons and fish sauce
fillet of beef in red wine gravy with saffron mash and carrots
chocolate fondant with home made (yes home made!) vanilla ice cream
then cheese, but i can't take any credit for that as i have to only put it on cheese board looking nice!

yum i'm hungry already...

Lysette, that sounds delish!! (when is your birthday???)
I've just made chicken enchiladas (but with mince instead of chicken..., so just waiting for them to cook.
Jacob sounds adorable, waking DH up to play!!
K does that in the morning too (also in the bed with us. Every night). She gives the Best kisses, each one accompanied by MMAAAH!

Aren't they all just edible at this age!!!

Hi Girls,
haven't read whole thread but have tried to get the gist of what's been going on! It's lovely to hear how well all our little babies are doing!!

Chloe is also at the stage of wanting to hold hands to walk everywhere- it is so tiring. Other than that she still bum shuffles although she can crawl, she chooses not to. She doesn't have any real words apart from maybe 'ta', but she can nod and shake her head appropriately when asked questions like, 'Do you want to go to bed?'

It hasn't followed for me that the 2nd child picks up speech more quickly- by 14 mths Toby had loads of words (20 or more) and could do about 15 animal sounds, whereas Chloe has none! However both are within the normal range- just such a huge variance.

Toby's started playgroup now which gives me a couple of hours every morning and so far Chloe has slept the whole time every day- so I get a bit of a rest!

As far as the dummies and bottles- Chloe still has hers but only for sleeping and that's because they share a room so I don't want her to wake Toby up. They both have one bottle a day and that's at bedtime (Toby had stopped his but when Chloe started having bedtime bottles he had to have one too!) I don't mind cos that's the only milk they drink apart from in their weetabix. Neither of my children will drink milk in a cup.

I've only just potty trained Toby and he's 2.5. It's been a month and he still won't do poos in the toilet- always in his pants. He feels bad about it- he just seems not to know when he's going to do one! Even if a much younger child can tell you when they do a wee or a poo, they can't hold them in for long if at all and need to wee very frequently so going out would be impossible. It's just not worth it!!

Oh and I'm pg again too- only 9 weeks. I have a 16mth gap which is great fun but exhausting and this will be a 21mth gap. I feel sick, hungry and exhausted constantly at the moment. Can't wait for 2nd trimester!!!

Hardly ever on internet anymore cos I either sleep or do housework when kids asleep but I'll try and pop in a bit more often xx

You must be due about the same time as Lysette (I am guessing) so you willhave to go and join her ante-natal thread.

I am so excited for both of you

TheGoddessBlossom · 13/09/2007 08:13

wow Soph, congratulations, yeah I echo what HC said, take it easy and rest up when you can. Hard work this kid business, you sound like you are doing fabulously though.

jacobandlysette · 13/09/2007 10:01

soph thats great news thought i'm guessing that you are on the due in april thread? i started the due in may thread but now have an EDD of 29th april! but i'm staying in may i think.

take it easy as much as you can - not easy I know!

ps annie those chicken enchiladas sound yum - i'm into really spicy food or really bland food right now and they would just hit the spicy spot. got some organic cod for my dinner but have a fancy for indian now....

Jacob is growing really quickly at the moment - he's now grown out of pretty much all his 6-12 month trousers in the last few days, and will be in 12-18 month stuff - pretty good since if he had gone to term he would only just be 1 now!

Poor little man has been running a little warm over the last few days, and last night temp was 38.9 at around 6pm. medised before bed, and he then woke at 3am and wouldn't go back to sleep till 4, despite being in with us. and his temp was just a shade under 40. but this morning it's back to normal so i think his fever broke in the night.
