Well i think i was the frist to 'pop' from the due in june thread so i thought it was about time we started the post-natal thread.

DS2 is 2 weeks on monday I had him 4 weeks early due to induction for OC. Everything is going really well and i think things are finally starting to settle down (i hope i haven't just spoken too soon!!)

He is really suffering with colic though and were getting about 4 hours sleep a night on average and with a 2.5 year old there is no chance of catching up in the day, but i shouldn't complain as i'm lucky to have got two wonderful boys. Thats it now NO MORE!!!!!9smile0

I know a few other june mums have had their babies so it would be lovely to hear from you to see how you are all getting on (when you get the chance )

Hello to you all - hopefully when Arthur calms down a bit I can get on a bit more often. He's ten days old and I have only just done my mumsnet birth announcement! I think we have a 'lively' one - yesterday he did the eight hour crying stint and it is so dispiriting. He's been a bit better today but still insists on sleeping on me or dh rather than the Moses basket.

And my arse is killing me - infected stitch - I have an egg sized lump sticking out, along with a new assortment of piles, ain't life grand....

TALLULAHBELLE · 03/07/2007 22:17

Just caught up and now it's bedtime. Got to be up early to get myself & wee one to hosp for 10am. It takes forever to get out the house. Catch up tomorow hoopefully.

bumperlicious · 03/07/2007 23:19

Ouch doggus, sounds nasty. It's hard work isn't it these first few weeks? Sorry for everyone who has problems with crying. Touch wood, this one isn't too bad. She cries when she's in pain, or is hungry, and when she is tired at night, but doesn't seem to cry for no reason.

Have any of you who are having problems tried infacol to ease the crying?

I'm just struggling so much with the night time feeding. I really don't do well when I am tired, and I make DD worse because I get so anxious about the lack of sleep, and feel so guilty because DH is trying to settle her when it should be me, but I'm too busy bawling my eyes out!

We are getting used to feeding in front of friends now though, so don't have that to worry about, and I've fed at my bf group. Still not very discreet though, full boobage!

Right, DD needs feeding, I'm such a neglectful mother. DH is so good at holding her when she is crying. He admits he is in a win win situation as he only has to hold her for 5 mins for everyone to think he is a 'hands on' dad, never mind the fact that she hangs off my norks for 12 hours a day!

Catch up with you all soon. Looking forward to the arrival of the fox cub!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 03/07/2007 23:22

Hiya
I am still alive!
Little Fella is doing great
Will catch up with all the gore tommorrow!
It's getting busy on here now!

daisyandbabybootoo · 04/07/2007 07:41

bumper...don't feel guitly about not settling her....there's no "should be me" about it....you're a family remember. I got really stressed out about not being able to settle babyboo, and DH got quite stroppy with me. He said he loves doing it, since he can't do the feeding and is glad that he can actually do something to help. I'm sure your DH feels the same way. She's settling for me much better now, so take heart that it will get better

Doggus, welcome to PN and sorry you've got nasty stitches.....have you got a rubber ring to sit on?

DKMA...welcome to you too...can't wait to read the full details.

I hope your LOs are doing well!

Right, off to see if there's any news from Foxy......

Phoenix · 04/07/2007 09:13

Hi all, me again. Trace2's asked me to let you know that Chloe is in hospital again. She went in yesterday as she's stopped breathing (for a short time) and turned blue 3 times over the last few days. She had a chest xray and an ecg yesterday but for now that's all i know.

daisyandbabybootoo · 04/07/2007 09:19

Pheonix....sorry to hear that . Tell Trace I'm thinking of her, and that if there's anything I can do let me know..I'm only in Leeds. Love and hugs to Chloe.xx

HollyAndAliceWillBeDogtanian · 04/07/2007 09:21

Oh dear, poor trace. Hope she and little chloe are ok, please let her know we are thinking of her x

daisyandbabybootoo · 04/07/2007 09:28

morning Holly.....poor Trace, she must be beside herself with worry .

Feeling very organised this morning...managed to have a shower and put some slap on, as well as feed DD, and get DS ready for school and check up on Foxy on here as well.....now I just have to work on getting the LO dressed as well...she goes everywhere in her jammies at the moment!

I'm off shopping in a bit...I've admitted defeat and decided I won't get into those trousers by Saturday, so need to find something else to wear....and get a nice bra to wear as my nursing bras are showing at the neckline of my new blouse....

I also need to exchange some of the clothes I've been given for babyboo....lots of aged 3-6 months summer dresses, but it will be into Autumn by the time she fits into them...hope to get bigger sizes for next summer!

she slept on top of me from 3:00 am again...I just can't seem to settle her in the night, but she was only up once so that's an improvement!

bumperlicious · 04/07/2007 09:47

Pass on our best wishes to Trace if you are still around Phoenix.

Morning everyone. Last night DD, DH and I all slept in the bedroom from 12 till 5.30! It's probably a fluke, but just so pleased that she slept that long and DH and I were both in bed at the same time!

HollyAndAliceWillBeDogtanian · 04/07/2007 09:55

Morning! I suppose I am quite lucky as William feeds then sleeps. He is hardly awake, but that is prob because of the jaundice. Also my dd was an absolute nightmare baby, screaming all the time and wanting to be carried everywhere, so I suppose I'm due an easier baby! Maybe it's that boys are less crabby, everyone tells me boys are easier!

bumperlicious · 04/07/2007 09:59

Is the jaundice getting better Holly? DD is a good baby really, I just haven't been coping very well with the nights. I struggle to nap during the day. I've never been a napper, I'm a 8 hours in one stint kinda girl. I suppose I will learn to be a better napper when I am really tired.

Good luck shopping today daisy. I really must go out and get some bras that fit. I'm just making do with some random ones that I got from ebay.

HollyAndAliceWillBeDogtanian · 04/07/2007 10:03

The jaundice is getting better, slowly. If it is not gone by monday we will have to go to hosp for tests, so fingers crossed.

You will learn to nap bumper! I was never a napper, but now I have to have one in the day to feel normal! I always find that lying on the sofa watching something on tv that you have seen before, the vicar of dibley for example, on uk gold usually sends me off!

daisyandbabybootoo · 04/07/2007 10:15

Morning bumper....glad you got a bit more sleep last night and that you and DH spent the night together!!

It does make you wonder sometimes how people manage to cenceive second babies so quickly though

For anyone considering re-usables as a long term option.....this thread is very interesting. It's made my mind up so now I have to figure out which ones to buy!

holly, I hope will's jaundice clears soon....did the hospital say how long it was likely to last?

Seansgirl · 04/07/2007 10:51

poor trace and chloe, please tell her we're thinking of them both phoenix and sending our love and get well vibes xxxx

Seansgirl · 04/07/2007 10:57

Thanks Daisy, i think i am ok, my mw said that the fact i know i'm doing it is a good sign. they will be pretty hot on pnd round here, one of my neighbours suffered badly and threw herself out of her bedroom window a couple of years ago! i think like bumper its the lack of sleep that is getting to me. i am feeling really lethargic, i nearly nodded off driving yesterday on the motorway. (had to drive 3/4 hour journey to warwick hospital for newborn hearing screening.) DS has been really unsettled, and getting really aggitated and cross cos of his blocked nose, thankfully he seems a bit better this morning tho.

Any little fox cubs around this morning?

trendaverter · 04/07/2007 11:08

Poor Trace and Chloe!
How awful.

You know reading through some of the posts on here makes me realise how lucky I am, and that having one bad day where my little man gets overtired is nothing compared to what some other poor souls are going through.

So much going on though these days I can hardly keep up.
I had my first HV this morning, she was very nice and helpful and helped us with what might be keeping him awake and different ideas for getting him off to sleep.
At 10 days old he has gained 6oz on his birthweight, so they are happy with him, he now weighs 8lbs1oz.

bumperlicious · 04/07/2007 11:24

I'm in the "i promise to start using reusables as soon as things get easier club!" Just can't imagine having to deal with all that washing on top of everything else at the moment. Especially when this weather is so crap.

Seansgirl, I really feel for you. It's hard to know what is just lack of sleep and what is something more serious. I am really worried about PND though. Feel fine at the moment, but just worry that I might get it and not realise it IYSWIM?

Glad you are having a good time with DS though TA. What sort of tips did your HV give? I've heard nothing from my HV yet, and we last saw the MW on Friday . Good job I'm doing relatively ok isn't it?

trendaverter · 04/07/2007 11:35

You should have had a call from your HV though?!

She was just saying that he seems very windy (ooohhh yes) and to wind him more often (as in every time he makes so much as a peep), preferably get DH to do it as they have bigger hands and are firmer, and also put lots of pressure on his tummy to push the wind out. Infacol was recommended (I have been using it, it's brilliant).

For when he gets the hiccups (which also gives him wind) she said to give him some cold boiled water from a bottle which will get rid of it, and if he gets overtired and grumpy to move his carrycot upstairs and use a monitor so it's a bit quieter and to get him used to napping upstairs rather than in the living room...but if he starts to nap happily downstairs then no need to bother.
hmm what else...can't think but I'm sure if someone asks a specific question I will remember!

HollyAndAliceWillBeDogtanian · 04/07/2007 11:50

Gawd, Alice just tried to pick William up! I managed to run over and catch him before he slid onto the floor! It's very sweet that she loves him so much, but she just doesn't realise that she can hurt him.

Glad your little man is getting lovely and fat TA! Mine is starting to get a little belly, it's very cute!

IKWYM bumper about the reusable nappies. I can't keep up with all the sicky sleepsuits atm. Nappies on top would be a nightmare! I'm going to start using them when it gets sunnier so at least I can dry them!

lilKelBel · 04/07/2007 13:05

Oh sweet bliss. Both are asleep. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh

PND is a bitch. Got it myself and it's an evil thing. You feel too depressed to admit you're depressed. Sad but true. At least I'm managing it now and just have to wait for it to go away. Blardy hormones.

We switched S back from goat's milk formula to Aptamil. I just don't think the goats stuff helped at all. In fact she became totally constipated on it! So now it's Aptamil + Colief + Infacol. Poor girl. Such a concoction every time she eats...all to get rid of the blasted wind.

right back to my (very briefly) peaceful home. Repeat after me: It really DOES get easier. It really DOES get easier....

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 04/07/2007 13:05

Just phoned tax credits peeps to tell them I've had another baby...claim has gone from £130 a month to £300 odd!! May finally be able to pay some bills now and buy myself a new pair of jeans !

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 04/07/2007 13:07

Hope you are ok lilkel. Isn't colief amazing? I used it with my dd and it was the only thing that helped, luckily ds doesn't seem to have any tummy probs, fingers crossed!

derlor · 04/07/2007 13:47

oh hello ya'll, just had a quick scan read back, can't remember specifics cause i no longer have a brain but nightmare and hugs to all of you suffering sleep deprivation, windy/colicy babies.
and BIG hugs to baby Chloe hope they get to the bottom of that and things are much improved soon x
you know, i kind of feel like i've abandoned you all speaking from an HV capacity, lots of you sem to be struggling with things and i'm not here ofter enough to give support and advice so BIG SLAP on my wrists - will try to do better.
Bumper - there is NO excuse for the lack of contact from your HV - call your MW immediately and tell her you've not heard from anyone - that is shocking and totally unexcusable!! I want to send you an email shortly with some info and advice is that ok?

derlor · 04/07/2007 13:48

oops (unexcusable) that's not actually a word is it?!?!
