Bubblemummy · 04/04/2007 17:57

Hi everyone!

I haven't disappeared, but we've been having some technical issues with our new internet connection. So glad to have it back, hooray

Well done samsmam, I never win anything! I'm having trouble trying to stick to healthy eating too, and I can't get motivated to do any exercise at all. Have been thinking about joining weightwatchers or something like that. I have gone up two dress sizes like you purpleflower, but I was a size 14/16 to start off with so now it's pretty bad My tummy was never flat, but there was no overhang before!

Swizzler - did you have any trouble learning to use a wraparound sling? It must be good exercise. I'd really like to try one, the sling I have now doesn't really support ds' head at all so he can't sleep in it very well. I'm not sure if he would like getting used to a new sling though...

Inthehouse - I am really useless when dh goes away, I find it difficult to cope with ds by myself, but I'm just hoping it gets easier as he gets older.

Mellin - Hello, I've just come over here from there! (Well from Perth - where abouts are you?) I was surprisd at how easy the flight was too.

Went to a weaning talk this morning, so we're all ready to go! Think I'll try ds on a bit of baby rice tonight, should be interesing.

Gemmitygem · 04/04/2007 18:39

if it's any comfort samsmam I've read that pear shapes are much much less likely to get cancer, don't know why but apple shaped women (which I am) have about twice the rate of heart disease and cancer than pear shapes...

that was so random. I'm off to bed, as it's late here in Central Asia! g night all!

youngmum21 · 04/04/2007 19:26

hi all

Havent been on much as have been back at work which i am hating!!!!

Have been weaning dd of her dummy at bedtime and last nite we had our first full nites of sleep which we havent had for months she slept from 7-7 so am hoping it will be a permenant thing!!!!

Sorry to heary about your los meningitus scare totaly!!!!

If you got the dip in you tummy wher you muscles have seperated you are suppose to pull all the muscles in and hold for a few second several times aday

You only nees to worry if the gap is bigger then a few cm then your suppose to see a physio so ive read

Swizzler · 04/04/2007 19:52

Youngmun: congrats on the sleep and the dummy withdrawal! Sorry to hear you're having a tough time at worl. Do you think it's cos you've just gone back or are you thinking about a permanent change?

Martha: hellooo, hope you can make it next week

Slings: I went to a sling workshop run by an independent mw which was v v useful. Otherwise don't think I'd have had the confidence to try a wrap sling. There are loads of different types: best way is to go to a shop and try out some different ones. You can also hire them from a couple of online places: big mama slings is one of them (I think). For those in London I can recommend a shop in Walthamstow that stocks a wide range.

After lots of false alarms, the first tooth is coming through - textbook bottom incisor. Feels v sharp and DS not happy - gave him a dose of Medised and he's now asleep.

totallyfloaty35 · 04/04/2007 20:03

Hi all,she is fine now,the worst part was the drs looking at her rash then looking confused. Then they did bloods but couldnt find a vein and then not enough blood would come out so they were squeezing her and nurses were holding her down while she screamed,dh was with her,i stood outside sobbing til i couldnt bear it any more, and rushed in demanding they leave her alone now!!

Swizzler · 04/04/2007 20:04

totally - don't think I could take DS being in hospital...

totallyfloaty35 · 04/04/2007 20:06

oh as for weight,im pre preg weight now(still a stone heavier than i should be though)my stomache muscles are buried under a layer of wobble

samsmam · 04/04/2007 20:38

totally- glad LO is better now.

youngmum- hope work gets easier I am dreading it.

gemmitygem- thanks for the pear shape info at least there may be some advantage.

Samantha has been miserable today don't usually get much trouble from her so I'm guessing it is teeth

HV assured me that when LO started eating solids that her sickness woud stop. It has reduced but she is still sick. And now it smells like real sick! [yuck]

I was brave and went back to slimming world- put on 3.5lb in 2 weeks so tonight I had my last bag of maltesers until I lost the next stone!

Am I being ungrateful to the people that are buying LO easter eggs, I just think it is too soon.

Gingememorechocolateeggs · 04/04/2007 21:52

Good evening ladies and welcome all newcomers. Ive been very busy with my big boys here. ds3 is in his element with all the attention. lo is enjoying them being here too though hes only seen them once hes enjoying watching their faces and different voices.
lo is rolling all over the place and is trying to bend his knees and lift his bum when hes on his front. Oh no not long now till hes on the move.
Hes on breakfast and lunch now and is enjoying it immensley. Down to four bottles now too. 8am,12,4pm and 7,.30!! He sleeps 8pm to 730. Hell be in ds3's room next week.
Well hope you all have a good week. Is the meet up decided? x

Rumpel · 04/04/2007 22:10

Eve' all,

Ginge - glad your enjoying your big boys - do they have a Northern twang yet?

Martha - sorry I meant Mummypossum left not you - got confuzzed.

Samsmam - I am a pear too. Apples have more fat around their inner organs, which is dangerous - leading to heart disease/cancer. We store it on our bums and thighs - away from organs so it is much safer. Don't know about you but I am much happier being a pear now after being pg. Big tummies get in the way of everything, a big bum just follows you around but doesn't stop you doing things - like tying up your shoes, putting on socks etc

nite all.

Gingememorechocolateeggs · 04/04/2007 22:40

Im a pear too all be it an over ripe one after 4 ds's
Np Rumple but they do come out with some cracking words and sayings. My ds3 is trying them out too

nowanearlyNicemum · 05/04/2007 11:26

all this talk about tummies is totally depressing!! I've been below pre-pregnancy weight since about 2 weeks after the birth (it all fell off frighteningly quickly ) but my tummy still looks horrendous. am currently seeing a physio for post-natal pelvic floor exercises (pretty much standard procedure in france) so will get her to check out my separated muscles (ha! what muscles) next week.

gemmity - don't know what you're 'supposed' to do with tuna etc. but I certainly pureed pretty much everything to start with for dd1 (and I started weaning her a lot later than most of you have). I SO know what you mean about the baby books - have given all mine away and am 'winging' it with dd2... feels great!

youngmum - poor you having to back at work and not feeling good about it. I feel so lucky being at home with my 2 (most of the time )

nowanearlyNicemum · 05/04/2007 11:27

samsmam - don't think you're being unreasonably ungrateful for lo's easter eggs. what a strange idea to buy chocolate for a baby fgs!! all made worse by the fact that you're trying to lose weight and can't eat them yourself of course

sorry about all these 'double posts'. I can't post on this thread if I go over a certain word count . someone's trying to stem my verbal diarrhoea

off to put some washing out to dry - glorious sunshine and balmy breeze here

Swizzler · 05/04/2007 15:37

Easter eggs for a 6 mo?????

William doing well here and amusing the natives - latest trick is to lean over the front/side of the pushchair in case something really interersting is happening down there. He also plonks his feet on thr front rail and tries to pull his socks off

Took hm to the park today and it was warm eniugh to play on the grass - W in his bug sun hat - he really likes grass and is v interested in all the people walking round.

Better night last night so feeling human today. Gd thing too as we have a mouse (eeeek!!) vso about to scrub kitchen and lay killer traps

Swizzler · 05/04/2007 15:39

MEET-UP: Wed, Giraffe, Festival Hall 1pm. Will post directions again nearer the time. Please confirm if youre coming. Also, what else would you like yto do - options are a walk along the river or shopping in covent garden

majormoo · 05/04/2007 17:58

hi all quick message just to catch up and wish you a happy easter.

totally glad your dd is ok.

re weight i am same as before had ds but the stomach muscles-or lack of-leave a lot to be desired!

re slings i love my wrap one but do struggle sometimes to get it in right position.

We've had a lovely few days as dh took time off as it was my birthday yesterday. this morning took dd to see some newborn lambs. and ds got his first tooth!

sorry for rubbish punctuation but i am still dreadful at one handed typing. Should be used to it my now.

enjoy meet up. wish i could come but taking both of them up to london from brighton would be too stressful.

Feeling sad LO's first night in her own room. I hope it gets easier. I keep running up and downstairs to see she is ok even though the baby monitor works! Am I being a normal first time mum?

I'll be at meet up but need to leave by three- at least I get two hours.

Swizzler · 06/04/2007 19:27

How did it go Samsmam? They are growing quickly, aren't they?

Back at work next week - but at least I have the meet-up to look forward to

Have a lovely Easter everyone.

youngmum21 · 06/04/2007 20:50

Swizzler · 06/04/2007 21:06
  • do you have a review period in your new p/t contract? If so, keep records and bring it up then.
Gingememorechocolateeggs · 06/04/2007 22:34

Hi all. Im planning on moving lo to the big boy room as soon as his big bros go back to Scotland. Bought ds3 a wonderful bed from Ikea on Wednesday. He loves it.
Took all the boys to the park today. Lo had great fun on his blanket till he found the grass and decided to taste it. Not for him realy.
Gave him a whole rusk today. Oh it was sooo funny. He sucked and sucked and sucked and what a mess he got in. Kept making little grunting noises as he was eating it. He ate about three quaters of it and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Were going to Clown Town tomm. Theres a little soft play bit there for lo's and the bigger ones can go on thr larger stuff. Should be fun.
Happy Easter everyone. See you on the 11th

Swizzler · 07/04/2007 07:20

Gingeme: DS loves grass too and is sure it would taste good if he got the chance to eat it (that or he's hoping to eat a bug or two).

Have been struggling a bit with getting DS to eat savoury purees (fruit and porridge fine) so tried him on finger food for lunch yesterday and he loved it. Gummed away at some roast squash and roast chicken from the previous night's meal. Trying him with some more squash today and possibly a bit of toast

Gingememorechocolateeggs · 07/04/2007 11:48

Swizzler bugs are fine. Apaeantly we eat a certain amount of spiders in our life time while were sleeping.
Tried lo with toast too but he gagged on it too much and cried so thats why we tried rusk because it seems to break up easier.Know what you mean about the savoury stuff though. I think my eldest was about the only one of mine who actualy preferred savoury. He still does actully. Dont worry its early days yet. They get the hang of it all eventualy
