Londoner · 06/03/2007 07:32

Rodeo, hi, fimo nameplates, bet they look really funky and fun, clever you.

feetheart · 06/03/2007 11:31

Well done E, I can feel the joy/relief from here Londoner A is sleeping through more often now but I still can't - grrrrrrrrr!

Nova - well spotted Mrs Eagle Eyes! It took DH and I a while to find it and we knew it was there.
Someone from PP came on here a few weeks ago and asked if anyone had started any traditions with their children. We started to make a gingerbread house for Christmas a few years ago, I told her, sent an old picture (as I videoed it this year) and we have a tiny bit on P21.

Diege - scary! I get very nervous with anything to do with eyes but glad she seems back to normal.

ChaCha - agree with the others, sounds like you have this 2 babies thing working really well. Well done on the bf too, just be aware you must be coming up to another growth spurt (at 3 weeks) and again at 6 weeks! Feet up on that sofa girl!!

I'll try a quick update from us:
A is 16mths this week and is a pure joy. He is still a very laid-back, smiley little boy who is quite happy to potter around on his own, finding all sorts of things to entertain himself - saucepan lids, table mats and sometimes even toys! He loves to climb and has learnt to use a yellow bucket as a step - if found going in an unfamiliar direction clutching said bucket it pays to follow him!!
He can sleep through the night but often doesn't and still has a morning nap, usually exactly 3 hours after he has woken up!! If allowed he will sleep for 2 1/2-3 hrs but on pre-school mornings is lucky to get 1 1/2 - poor second baby!
He eats well (such a pleasure after T!) though is a real carbohydrate king and will quite happily eat potatoes till they come out of his ears, possibly because I weaned him on runny mashed potato as baby rice is too foul!
His signing amazes me, he has a huge range of words and uses them all the time. He has some recognisible spoken words, mainly ones that involve "t's and s's" - 'Tessa', 'toast', 'tayto'
At the moment he loves - the hoover, dogs in the park, climbing, Tumble Tots, hugs (he will run up to you with his arms flung open!), opening the fridge (), 'Dear Zoo', trying to get into T's bed!!!

Better wake him up now - pre-school pick-up beckons!

Rodeo · 06/03/2007 20:53

Evening!
Aww, feetheart, what a cute update Like the image of him and his bucket, seeing what he can get up to! Jess always seems to pick a 'step' with wheels , like her wheely bug or ds's skateboard! At least the bucket's relatively safe(r)
Londoner - CONGRATULATIONS!! Haha! Have to say though, I am a bit !
Beks, hope you are getting through those sad tasks ok
GG - Are you there? Or are you holed up under a big blanket (brrr)?? It was lovely and warm up here today actually, hope it was for you too. Only one more night to get through
Well not much news this end, although I have convinced Joe to go as Edmund (from The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe) for Friday's book week dressing up day. So easy!! Shirt, tie, tank top, shorts and long socks! And we're going to make some Turkish Delight out of cut up bath sponge and glitter. He did want to go as Aslan (Heaven forbid!) but talked him out of that one
Bye for now x

Oh bum, it is quiet here....
Hope everyone is well and enjoying some sunshine
Nova's not been on since, hmm.....off to look....Sunday, hope you've not sneaked off to have baby no.2 without telling!
Speak later, hopefully not to myself again

Londoner · 07/03/2007 15:04

Hi rodeo, I'm here,

Edmund cossie sounds inspired, fantastic, esp the glittering t.delight clever you! Did you get caught in any storms yesterday btw?
Out this morning looking at ds2 s.school, phew, exhausting, esp with curious toddler in tow and esp at lesson change time with all hustle and bustle of enormous teenagers crowding up and down stairwells/corridors etc, and it really brings it all back too, so nostalgic! Ds2 seems pleased, it's a really art based school and ds loves art so fingers crossed they fit together well in September.
Just laughing to myself over private inventory of kitchen floor on my return after a busy week already...
2 odd socks, 1 plastic pingu figurine, some lego , 1 pencil case-empty(oh-oh), 1 tea-towel, 1 pair trainers and 1 damp towel, ROFL! Think I'd better get on with it then. byee!

Londoner · 07/03/2007 15:09

Great update feetheart, what a cutie!

Rodeo · 07/03/2007 15:22

Hello Mrs!
School sounds great, you are brill doing things with E in tow, although I suspect she's v.well behaved! I shudder at the thought of taking our rug rat anywhere that requires her being still or quiet for ant amount of time
We've had really lovely sunny weather up here for the last few days, esp. yesterday, we've probably got the storms to come! We've had a home day today, and just shared a bowl of sherry trifle I made yesterday - don't be impressed, packet jelly, tinned rasbs, instant custard (fresh whipped cream though)! I've been dipping a spoon in all day, think I've had about a quarter of it, and it's not small! Better get up to school, bye for now x

novadandypowder · 07/03/2007 15:53

I'm still here! Been catching up but not posting - been following a couple of other threads that have diverted my attention away. Also been busy with noo, gymboree on monday and playdate yesterday. Was supposed to have another playdate today but noo's only just woken up and the other mum has to go to work in an hour so think we'll be staying put.

Had the banisters sawn off monday (ended up getting 0800handyman to come as DH wouldn't let me loose with a saw!) and the heavy lifting men are coming on saturday, so cross your fingers that A: the buggery wardrobe will now fit up the stairs, and B: the baby doesn't decide to make an appearance.

Put noo in a dress today and she wasn't impressed! She kept trying to pull it off, but she does look very cute.

Noo is getting very frustrated at her inability to communicate now, she's getting very tantrum-y and loses her patience very quickly.

feetheart · 07/03/2007 17:05

OK, Saturday it is then Nova

Think I have completely jinxed us by saying how laid-back A is - we have had our first temper tantrum this afternoon
It was either because T wanted to watch something on BBC1 not CBeebies or because I wouldn't come and sit with him in the living room (I was up to my neck in tomatoes and a cake at the time - cooking not eating!) Whatever it was it lasted 20mins and mainly involved sitting on the floor/clinging to my leg and screaming and crying a lot. Reminded me that I think he has quite an impressive stubborn streak - we tried for over 2 months to get him to take EBM and he yelled every night until he got it from source! We gave up in the end.

Ho hum!

Beksmum · 08/03/2007 12:49

Hi girls.

Chacha thank you for Ben's card, he was really pleased. He's not opened all his presents yet as he is waiting till his dad gets home from work, a nice little surprise for him is that daddy is going to meet him from school so he won't have to wait as long as he thinks

Right thought while it's quiet I'd do an update on T, he is in short a little monkey, he is the complete opposite of B, he is bold, he is out going, he is headstrong, he's noisy and he does everything at 100 miles per hour. He is 33inches or 85cm tall, he weighs a bit too much, but will eat anything and everything put in front of him, his favourite at the moment are tiger prawns!!! He has 16 teeth to chew with and loves to give wet sloppy kisses. He can say about a dozen words including dirty and bath and hi ya which is called at the top of his voice to anyone he recognises, even in the street. He can indentify facial features and climbs like a monkey and appears to have no fear.

He is now awake so there goes the peace and quiet, hope you are all well will catch up again soon. Beks

Rodeo · 08/03/2007 20:51

Evening, another quiet day
Happy 5th Birthday Ben!! I forget how close in age Ben & Joe are, he's 5 next Tues. What did you get him? We've got Joe a new scooter and a basketball hoop, how I'm going to wrap them I don't know! Can't believe how tall T is!! Joe's still only about 100cm! And love him calling to all on the street, he'll have that Jack the lad personality I bet - the one the girls all swoon for
How sweet him chomping down on tiger prawns, yum! Funny the things they like when you expect them to spit them straight out, thought the same when Londoner mentioned E's love of olives!
Nova, glad you're still with us, finger's are crossed here! LOL at putting Noo in a dress - Jess never wears them either - she's a jeans and t-shirt girl, much more practical! My friend on the other hand dresses her 16 month old in the most girlie things imaginable, some of them are just bloody awful She's also the friend who, when the girls are playing together keeps going 'Awwwwwww, look at her......Isabelle's soooo beautiful'!! I'd better not let her catch me rolling my eyes

ChaCha · 08/03/2007 21:11

Hi Beks, Hope B had a fabulous birthday today! Are your folks over? I think they must be, hopefully you are getting a bit of breathing space inbetween all the goings on. Thinking of you.

Nova - My initial instinct is to type 'not long to go now eh?' but i'm sure that's not what you want to hear again and again. Good luck on having the wardrobe moved - hope everything goes to plan.

Hello to you all

Two under two is definitely hard work but i'm enjoying it and learning lots as i go along. I'm getting a decent night's sleep most of the time and when they both sleep in the afternoon have the choice of joining them or getting on with things. Can't believe the amounts of washing i have and the amount of nappies we're going through though..i'd forgotten about those newborn nappy explosions too, even DS1 looks around horrified with a 'oooooooh' when he hears them! Managing to eat whatever i cook for DS (today was his grilled chicken breast in a wrap with some salad at 2pm) but wonder why i'm hungry come bedtime...just forget to eat some days, must start preparing some nibbles at night for the day...like i said, lots to learn.

Had a good laugh last night reading some of the Parenting threads, anyone read them?

This week DS1 has:

  1. Stood on armchair by porch door, reached up to handle thus making the chair move with him, open handle, jump down, play in porch with shoes and God knows what else.
  2. Get onto TV unit from another chair, try to sit on unit..today this resulted in somersault, total flip over onto floor just missing edge of unit and a few tears before running off.
  3. Fallen out of bed twice, does not keep still when asleep.
  4. Had a major tantrum in park because i took him out of swing - v.embarrasing, lots of school kids hanging around and me trying to keep composed and calm. Also has tantrums when i close safety gate behind me and he can't follow, if i don't blowdry his hair and if he can't feed himself..have now given in and just let him get on.

Anyway, as always come night time and tired am ready to ramble so off i go.

Thanks, bit like having my own online diary

Rodeo · 08/03/2007 21:26

Hi Chacha, sounds like you're doing fab, LOL at Z's antics, sounds like Joe. Get him into sports at an early age! He'll be great!
I'm also really restraining myself from posting 'won't be long now' I bet she hears it about 10 times a day!

OP posts:
novadandypowder · 09/03/2007 09:31

Because I took everyone by surprise last time, I keep getting calls and texts, ahhhhhhh!!!!! REALLY fed up with 'how much longer?', 'not long now', and 'any news?'. My neighbour stopped me in the street to ask how things were going, and I really had to bite my tongue because if things were happening I wouldn't have been talking to her in the street!

Noo is at home for the second day due to an eye infection - the nursery won't let them go in because they are so contagious apparently. Poor thing looked like she'd been punched in the face yesterday, and now she has a lovely bruise under her chin due to falling off the sofa.

BEKS, it sounds like noo and T are like two peas in a pod, am thinking she may prefer a soccer tots class instead of ballet.

Londoner · 09/03/2007 10:04

Hiya!
Belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEN! 5! and good to see you post Beks.
Hey ChaCha, loved your news, you're amazing, out at the park etc, wow! Lol, looks like you've got a very capable little boy there in Z and think Rodeo's sports idea really good. IME when people are watching you with tantrumming baby and you feel sooo under the spotlight, they're actually thinking wow, rather her than me and isn't she coping well. Swimming is always great for wearing them out isn't it although come to think of it not really manageable with newborn in tow. ChaCha, you're doing amazingly!
Nova, at bannister shennanigans(?) and hope that wardrobe behaves at last, is it in place now? On the waiting questions front, time to invest in false moustache and hat ?..... and switch phone off/screen all calls .
Hi rodeo, Hi Diege, how's S? Hi BB, GG and all.......

BrownieBells · 10/03/2007 18:30

Hi All!

Well, not too much to report here really - Thomas is still climbing everything in sight! Showing amazing gymnastic qualities not always intentional! And he is generally a joy to be around!

Nova - ooh update on the wardrobe saga - did the men come and did it fit?? Bet it looks divine, you have such impeccable taste.
[mental note - don't mention "not long to go now!!"]

Chacha - you are doing wonders woman! and putting me to shame, and I only have the one!!!

Am sure there was loads more I was going to say, but can't remember now! Am now havign a lovely glass of rose, and am waiting for dh to finish tea off (I have made the lasagne, he has to do the bechamel sauce, cos he can do that bit better than me!)

Beks - am thinking of you, hope things are now on the up and you are able to think of Grandad and smile - I know I do often, and if I feel like crying, I do

Diege - any news on the nursery & eye episode?
Rodeo, Londoner, GG and everyone else - hope you are all doing grand.....

Brownie

Happy Birthday Ben - Sorry it's late - am very very rubbish!

novadandypowder · 10/03/2007 18:50

well, the first attempt didn't work so we had to bring it back downstairs and take the back off and all the shelves out from inside it, and then with a bit of imagination and determination.......................

.............IT FIT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hoorah! Will post some pics of the finished room when I get round to taking some.

Rodeo · 11/03/2007 14:49

Hello all!
Hope you're all enjoying these sunny days
I've been out with the ned this morning, but have to go food shopping now, pah, because we didn't go yesterday....just waiting for Jessie to wake up.
B&J have had the paddling pool out this lunchtime, brrr, in their little wetsuits and have been bug collecting too but that ended in disaster as the prize furry caterpillar got trodden on
Hello Brownie! Did you enjoy your yummy lasagne?
Nova, HOORAH!
Speak later x x x

OP posts:
Beksmum · 11/03/2007 16:09

Hi girls well there goes another hectic week.

It's been quiet on here, where are you all, out enjoying this glorious weather?

Rodeo brrr at the paddling pool and eek at the caterpillar, sounds like they are having fun though.

Nova hooray at getting the wardrobe in place, you must be pleased, I've had images of you squeezing past it while it was stuck in the hallway

Brownie the two T's sound very alike but my T has managed to have a couple of spectacular falls this week, after the first of which I thought I was going to throw up as he landed straight on his head and his neck made a horrible cracking sound - he was of course fine, especially when daddy got him some chocolate

Ben had a great b'day, we had a tea for a dozen friends on Wednesday then my brother and is family came round on Thursday for a slap up chinese meal - yum! B was thoroughly spoilt as usual and couldn't wait to get out yesterday to spend some of his b'day money. He is really into these cube world figures, he got two from my mum & dad and bought two more yesterday, they are funny to watch and quite addictive for stick men

Hopefully all will return to normal for us by the middle of next week as we have the funeral tomorrow, we're taking T as he won't remember it, but B is going to school as I think it will upset him too much. Then my mum and dad are going home on Tuesday so hopefully some sort of routine will re-establish itself - keep your fingers crossed for me!

Had a good night last night I took my mum to see Hot Flush for Mothers Day with a few of my friends, if it comes to a theatre near you, get tickets as it had us crying with laughter!

Hope everyone else is well, this was supposed to be a quickie but look what happens when I don't get a chance to post - I get withdrawal symptoms and rabbit on forever Beks

Rodeo · 11/03/2007 21:26

We'll all be thinking of you tomorrow Beks
Not heard of Hot Flush, my sister went to see Hot Fuzz, that's not it is it?
Off to google these cube men, night all x

OP posts:
ChaCha · 11/03/2007 22:53

Hot fuzz, hot flush and cube men!?! I must be getting old...

Hi to everyone, hope all is well with you all. Promise not to ramble, need some sleep - DS1 has only just gotten over a short-lived but horrid cold and we have been on the old sleep reserves - cough had been waking him everytime the poor soul managed to fall asleep, fortunately DS2 seems okay (fingers crossed).

Weather here has been fabulous. We had a great afternoon out in the sunshine and fresh air, really looking forward to more of this weather, puts me in such good spirits. Although tired feels good to have energy again and be able to do the things that you take for granted when pregnant - i feel a ramble coming on...going to gets ome kips.

xx

novadandypowder · 12/03/2007 08:49

Our thoughts are with you today BEKS.

Well, we had a lovely weekend. Had some friends and their kids over for sunday lunch yesterday and the children played very well together, and the food was ace (even if I do say so myself ). Noo very reluctant to go to nursery today though so we're back to the screaming at drop off. I've managed to catch her eye infection so I'm looking dead attractive today! Thank goodness the sun is out so I can get away with wearing sunglasses.

Rodeo · 12/03/2007 10:04

Oh, our sunshine's all gone
Getting all excited now about whether your's is pink or blue Nova! Have you any inklings? How is this baby compared to how Noo was? Hope you're eye goes down soon
Off to get the last few bits for J's birthday later, he'll be the big 5 too! He's been a bit of a monster lately, my friend says they get an injection of testosterone around this age, so I'm conveniently blaming it all on this!
Hpe Z is much better now Chacha, and last night was better,
Speak later x

OP posts:
Londoner · 12/03/2007 11:42

Hello everyone,

Thinking of you Beks and hope you manage alright today and you and family enjoy remembering your Grandad together.x

Nova, glad you've got the wardrobe sorted and hope Noo got on okay at Nursery in the end.

Rodeo, when is J's b.day?

ChaCha, glad little Z feels better and that you manage to catch up on some rest soon.

Diege, are you guys okay?

Hi BB, GG, feetheart and all.
