Hi everyone! BROWNIE: we have the book day dilemma too , but just bwith dd1. Think I will put in her witches outfit from Halloween, then she can go as Winni the witch/room on broom witch...Decision is more costume-driven than book relevant! Hope things have calmed down a little NOVA ; have you past the time now that you went into labour with Noo? I think it'll be a pink one btw .
Hi LONDONER! I was just thinking of putting in a 'first call' for you, as hadn't heard from for a few days...; how are things going? Hopefully you are having a reprive from sickness? RODEO: yes, J was very pleased with 'star on week', fiorst time she's had it in her class! Pizza hut went ok..though S got over-excited and dropped her ice cream factory bowl, full to brim, that (of course smashed into pieces!)
Hi GG! Hope you are fully recovered from the travel/trip! Yes, Cheshire Oaks sound good for next time . Big hellos to everyone else! Hope you are enjoying the weekend, and speak soon! Only the prosepect of a driving lesson for me.. ; am seriously getting to the 'giving up' (again) point.. Oh well, will see how it goes later!

GreedyGecko · 25/02/2007 18:40

Hi, we're making WBD costumes too. He wants to go as a knight from his favourite book. Nice & easy i thought, bit of tin foil, grey clothes, make a shield & sword...
Then I remembered that the knights in teh book are gold. And no half measures will do for Owen. Looks like I'll be down fabric warehouse tomorrow for some gold material. Doh!

novadandypowder · 25/02/2007 18:53

GG - just go through the book with a grey felt tip, he need never know!!

Londoner · 25/02/2007 23:11

hi all, crazy days and nights but thinking of you all. Keeping up, just about, and Diege yes! get that MATB1 at the ready pronto. Rodeo hi, glad horse's leg seems better, you must stop racing him round top shop you know[wink. Dressing up babies wot don't they look daft enough already lol? Dress him up as TinTin in shorts and a gelled quiff BB. Rofl at grey felt tip Nova, love it! Love love loves......night!

ChaCha · 26/02/2007 19:53

Feetheart - A belated 'Happy Birthday' to Tessa I just realised this afternoon that i'd made no mention of her birthday - totally forgot to send a post - so Happy Birthday Tessa from all of us here

Hope everyone is well, we're all fine, bit hectic but good x

Rodeo · 26/02/2007 21:33

Evening
Glad to hear everyone sounds so well (for a change, usually at least one of us is ill!)
I'm just about recovered from my weekend drink and drugs binge (the drugs being Paracetamol and Ibroprufen) with the girls up in Leeds. Was really looking forward to long uninterrupted periods of sleep, who was I kidding?! We didn't get home til 4ish both nights and my roommate woke me up at the crack of dawn (well 9.30) in the mornings. Cue big dark sunglasses.....but it was good fun
Oh bloody hell, it's not Book Week again is it [groan] I'll have to try and talk Joe out of his Spiderman/Buzz Lightyear/Mr Incredible outfit ('they're not book characters' 'yes they are, here look!' 'No they're were film characters first' Just please understand will you, 4 year old!) Bella sprung a International costume day on me last week - on the night before - she went as a french girl, denim culottes, tights, ballet pumps, a stripy top of Joe's and a beret, I was v. proud of myself
GG/Brownie/Diege - good luck with your costumes! Good felt tip tip Nova
How did the driving lesson go Diege? Not too bad I hope
Chacha, how did the celebrations go? Hope you all thoroughly enjoyed yourself You sound very well anyway
Good to see you Londoner, how are your night-times? Jess has taken to waking at 5am, which is just awful. I've been leaving her to cry, just shushing her, but nothing seems to work. Really don't want to get into the habit of getting up at that unholy hour though - it's still dark FGS!
Going to watch the Oscar highlights now, so night all x x x

Hiya girls,

Rodeo, night times are still busy but as I still bf I can get her back to sleep quickly, I know .... I have my blinkers on and am prob making a nightmare longterm but days are soooo busy and she hasn't responded to cc for more than one night before reverting to worse than before so I figure she must really want it for one reason or another! Anything to be able to go back to sleep.... am really pleased she's no longer in our bed though, it is great to tuck back under duvet with just dh and go back to sleep. Thanks for asking. 5am, what do you do? do you get up and play the game and start the day hoping she'll relent and realise it's too early? Black out blinds, have you got them already.....
ChaCha, hi, please please tell us more about baby Y and Z if you have a chance, would love to hear. What's the routine like? How are the nights working out? What sort of baby is Y can you tell yet, energetic, calm or wakeful....... fish fish. Hope you're having a good day.x

Hi all, happy b.day Tessa!

ChaCha · 27/02/2007 15:27

Hiya Londoner - I must be behind with your news, what's happening with E? How are things?

I still have mum here which is great but since Saturday i've started to do things alone with mum just there for back up. DS1 wakes at around 7.30-8am now and so i take him downstairs to play while i finish or start b/f DS2. DS2 then gets put in basket and taken with me to kitchen while i make our breakfast. DS1 will now sit on a breakfast mat and eat with me and then we play for a while. The day is play/feed with one then feed/wind the other on and off, it really is quite like having twins. Took the pram out on Sunday and did a bit of shopping, both boys slept all the way and then DS1 ran around the mall with nanny chasing behind - DS2 woke, needed feeding and so we stopped for a very long latte and chat. Finally got home to two nappy changes, more playtime, feeding etc.. It just doesn't stop. I am bound to lose weight quickly this year.
DS1 constantly stroking, licking, kissing the baby which is lovely. He does get a bit frustrated when he cries but this is usually when he himself is tired and irritable. Today however, after licking baby's head and cuddling him he smacked him on the face twice and I really didn't know what to do.. is the first time for me to see DS2 look at me the way he did with petted lip and tears in eyes - i didn't react kindly to it and should understand that he himself is just a baby - real bad mummy moment and so there have been a few tears (mine only) this afternoon. Mum assures me that he has forgotten about it all now and not to worry, should never have shouted at him though and one of those big, horrible back teeth are coming through and it's driving him crazy! Poor lad.

Anyway, b/f although exhausting in the evenings is going well. Had a few worries due to cluster feeding but thanks to some replies i had here on MN and the midwife coming in to weigh him this morning (back to birthweight - yipee) I am feeling confident with my b/f again

DS2 almost 15 months. Hope we can all post some new progress reports especially diets, sleep times, bottles etc.. always reassures me.

Hope you're all well especially Nova - two more days and you'll be saying, 'i'm due this month'....scary huh!!! Thinking of you all, take care till later xx

Londoner · 27/02/2007 18:28

Hi ChaCha, so so lovely to read all about you and your boys, you are so busy! But it sounds like you are doing really well with everything and I really feel for you with the difficult ds1 hitting ds2 scenario and feeling bad about telling off........I would have done/have done exactly the same as you many many times and felt like you afterwards too. You just can't always anticipate every situation, and babies can move so quickly. You didn't know Z was going to do that and he prob didn't either until he did it. It's so great your mum is around to help out and a really good idea to get her to stand back in preparation for you flying solo. Will dh get some time off at all? Aw, shame you don't live round the corner I'd love to meet up/help out.
Ah gotta go will post update when can.

novadandypowder · 27/02/2007 19:15

Lovely to hear your news Chacha, sounds like you've slotted into having 2 DS's so easily.

Noo also has a big bad back tooth coming through (well at least one, the way she is behaving it could be more) so she has been really horrible to be around. Took her for a play date this afternoon, (aside: she didn't end up at nursery today after DH ran the battery down on the car by leaving the little front light on since sunday - was very ), and she was doing ok for a tired teething baby with an ear infection until she shoved one of the other kids and made her cry soooo hard. I was mortified, but there's not really much you can do as thats what kids do. Noo was also being really nice to the 16wk old baby that was there, stroking her and being lovely until she realised that the chair she was sleeping in bounced, and decided to start bouncing her. We have the same baby chair so I'll have to watch out for that one!

Feeling very fed up tonight so I've ordered take away pizza as DH is out working. Naughty.

GreedyGecko · 27/02/2007 20:32

Hi all, loving hearing all your news.

Glad you're doing well ChaCha, as Londoner said, don't beat yourself up about telling Z off.

Enjoy your pizza nova!

Update for you ChaCha. (This is all based on before we went away). Sean's a little cutey (most of the time). He gets on brilliantly with Owen. He's enjoying Tumbletots, and has made a couple of friends there. He's really started to get used to Socatots too now that we've been going for about 6weeks. He loves to walk everywhere, he takes me out for walks down the towpath quite regularly. (He toddles off, brings me his shoes & coat, and stands by the front door!)
He says 'nyeh' (yes), and 'nnnga' (ta).
He has 6 and a half teeth (the last 2 have suddenly appeared).
He goes to bed at 7pm, was going straight down, no fuss, and then comes into our bed when we go up. He then wakes at 5.30 when DP goes to work. (Bunk beds arrive on Thurs, wahoo! Hopefully once he's out of our room, he'll stop waking during the night.) He will (hopefully) have an hour at about 1pm, and that's it for sleep.
Food; BREAKFAST - bowl of cereals, help himself to 1/2 of my breakfast. LUNCH - toast or sandwich, yoghurt, some fruit. DINNER - usually has 'proper' food, although I do sometimes cheat and chuck a jar in the mirowave, pudding of Ice cream or cake. SNACKS - pack of raisins, some chopped fruit (tinned), cereal bar, yoghurt. He pretty uch, doesn't stop eating between 10.30 & 2pm.

Hope that's not too long.

GreedyGecko · 27/02/2007 21:15

Oh, yes. Nova, I expect yo'll be going to see TT at the end of the year? I'm going, my friend rang me yesterday, screaming down the phone!

Rodeo · 27/02/2007 21:53

Evening all!
Chacha, no don't stress, perfectly normal from Z and perfectly normal reaction from you too You're doing fab, and he's only 10(?) days old, your hormones are still flying round so tears/tantrums/moodswings will be the norm for a while (you not Z! )
Nova, you too! These last few weeks are a drag, esp looking after a crabby toddler Enjoy your pizza!
GG - Aw, nice update on Sean! Big bed on Thursday hey? Good luck! Let us know how he gets on And TT again?! That's not fair!
UPDATE - Jess still has only 4 teeth, her eye's have turned brown and her brown hair's really curly (great, another hair challenge ), I can now recognise a few words, but none of them are 'mum' - Dada, Doe (Joe), Beba (Bella), Swiper (from Dora), Bapbap (backpack - from Dora) grrrrssssppptt (still(!) for cat/dog) nana, and she says 'two' sometimes when Bella says one Her receptive language is good (according to my mother!) and can understand simple like 'get me a towel' 'pass me my phone' (I don't use her as a mini slave honestly ) Diet varies from practically nothing but air and milk, to eating everything in site (especially loves nuggets of stale bread or toast from behind the sofa cushions, really tasty apparently). Has had a few paddies (usually when she's climbed onto the windowsill and been picked off again) Can go up and down stairs on her own (a bit too easily) and loves ripping paper, raiding the crockery cupboard, pressing all the wrong buttons on the laptop and dancing on the coffee table. Sorry it's so long, there's nothing on the telly!
Off for a bath now, speak tomorrow x x x

GreedyGecko · 27/02/2007 22:26

Love Jess's 'swiper' & 'babpap'.

Just been looking at houses, seen this one . What a mess! OK, my house isn't the tidiest ATM, but if i was selling it, it would be spotless.

I've just found a book out that I was given when I had Owen. It's called "A little book of sentiments for a special mother". I just sort of brushed it off as he was only 2 days old, and I didn't understand any of it. Now however, I do, and it's brill. One is:

"The art of being a parent consists of sleeping when the baby isn't looking"

Can you tell DP is out tonight?!?!?

I'll come back another day wth some more quotes.

Night night xx

Rodeo · 27/02/2007 23:00

GG - PMSL at the house!! But it could be lovely - are you moving anytime soon? My dp is also out

OP posts:
Londoner · 27/02/2007 23:19

Love your updates Rodeo & GG, you've both given such good pictures of your lo's. Really love the image of Sean at the door with his coat and shoes waiting for his walk, and J hooking food out from behind the sofa and being able to say 'sticker', so brilliant.
Meant to say CHaCha so great you're getting on with the bf as I know you really wanted too.
GG I lol-ed at the state of that house , how funny, looks like the photographer came a day early.... but agree with Rodeo it is a lovely house maybe just the current occupants are a bit eccentric? Wow, t'would be great not to have the worry of particular unmentionable neighbours.
Nova, pizza rules, especially when dh's are out. Hope you enjoyed.
Hi Diege and all.
RIght, bed. Night.

Londoner · 28/02/2007 09:54

Hi again,

Okay, Betty's 16 months now, with fair hair like loft insulator in texture lol, and 16 teeth, so a very toothy grin. She can walk and run, climb up and down stairs and is kitchen cupboard master, mostly favouring packets of flour, plates and bowls. She loves to take everything out the cupboard and then put it back in, this can take a while. Her latest craze is Lego, which she can build! She will patiently stick bricks together or onto a base piece and then shout "Look! Look!" until I do and then continue. She can now put two words together such as "Bye Daddeeeee" or "All gone" when she sees an empty bowl. She often tries to pretend she is the child of my ds1 and girlfriend and hangs out with them after school fiddling with ipods and mobile phones and rocking to music. Loves toast, grapes and olives although still alot of bf but that's another story. Hope that's given you a good snapshot, right am off to the park now it's beautiful here.

Diege · 28/02/2007 13:48

Hello! Love the updates girls! Great description of E's hair there LONDONER! Gosh, she seems way ahead of L, as does Jess RODEO with her speech! L is very active, climbing stairs etc, but is still very much at the 'da-da' stage speech wise ; the only other word she has is 'oor yeah' (from the Bobinogs, lol )and their 'scratching' sounds (you'll either know what I mean, or not have a clue!).
Lol at that house GG, though have to say it's not a million miles away from mine on a neat day . Am stalling getting ours on the market precisely because we need to get things sorted! CHACHA - sounds like you are extremely on top of things considering ds2 is but a few days old! Great stuff! Any plans for no.3 ?? NOVA: hold on in there, your turn next! Oh and anyone remember when ENTHUSIA's due? Think it must be around now.
Speak later!

novadandypowder · 28/02/2007 19:22

Think Enthusia is due sometime in April, seem to remember it was a couple of weeks after mine.

Getting very uncomfortable now and very annoyed at not being able to walk for more than 30mins without the DESPARATE need for a wee. Thankfully my pelvic floor is holding out (just) but paused at the Tena pads in sainsburys today.

Went shopping with my nectar vouchers in Adams kids today - we normally save up our points during the year and use it against our xmas shopping, but I discovered they are worth double if you get Adams vouchers, so we had £100 worth . Got noo's summer wardrobe started - 7 tops, a skirt, a dress, 5 pairs of trousers, and a UV sunsuit + hat, all for nothing .

UPDATE: Well, noo is freakishly big and I keep forgetting that she is still so young because of her size. She is very clever (well, in my book anyway) she understands everything we say/ask (another mini slave Rodeo!), she can build with bricks and lego really well, and has developed a big appetite for books. Still no real words, but we can understand her most of the time. From what I can tell she has 9 teeth, but there are some more brewing. Eats pretty much anything that is put in front of her, although is having a phase of not eating a huge amount this week (probably teeth). Breakfast is cereal and fruit, and at the weekends a bit of whatever we're having, morning snack is milk & fruit at nursery during the week, and usually milk & biscuit at the weekends. Lunch is a cooked meal at nursery followed by fruit, and I try to do the same at the weekends but sometimes she'll get somthing like scrambled eggs and toast. Afternoon snack is hot choc and fruit loaf/flapjack, and dinner is either leftovers or a jar followed by a yogurt/milk based dessert. Then she has a bottle of milk before bed. She sleeps really well 7pm-7am at the moment. I'm beginning to get her to help me with the household chores, she can climb up but not down stairs, she loves swimming and gymboree, and she's doing really well at nursery.

ChaCha · 01/03/2007 11:24

Morning girls

Loved, loved, loved reading the updates! We should definitely keep this up at the end/beginning of each month - lovely to read how each toddler is progressing and what they're up to in general - now we need some updated pics i think!!

Well tomorrow marks the first day of flying solo, am now glad that i started routine with mum around, doesn't seem so daunting now and fortunately although studying, DH will be here for part of the weekend

Nova - Hurrah! You are officially due this month!! Hope you are well, are you counting the days yet? Exciting!

Londoner - b/f going well - has been cluster feeding again at night but sleeping through until the very small hours which is great - had been sleeping in my bed for convenience as post-op I was too tired to get up and down, but last night saw him in the moses basket in his cot and although i kept waking to check on him we all got a great night's sleep, he had a small feed at 5am and slept on again until 9. Have learnt that when b/f just have to relax, part of me always wants to be up doing something - am beginning to enjoy sitting on rocking chair and just feeding him and forgetting about all the other stuff. Anyway...ramble..ramble..

Am desperately trying to fight off a cold - all that we need right now, DH sat next to someone full of the flu in a recent lecture - typcial! Fingers crossed for us.

Back to the rocking chair then!

novadandypowder · 01/03/2007 12:39

At your request Chacha I've added a few more pictures of noo, and noticed that BoB has added some pics of Sophie and Oskar. I can't believe how grown up he looks next to the new baby, I'm sure you're getting the same with Z.
