Please accept our sincere apologies for wrecking any chance of sunshine this summer - we had our patio built (at last!!!) at the end of last week and have had nothing but rain, and the threat of more rain, ever since!! Both new patio and new patio furniture are looking sad and soggy and threatening to float away!

Haven't spent any of the money yet as I am not that confident of the cheque clearing - its been a long, hard road getting this far! Should know by the end of the week if its OK and then I think a bit of summer clothes shopping will be in order. In truth most of the money will go back into the flat which is a bit boring but logical if I want to build my property empire/retirement fund

T at pre-school all day today and A asleep so NEED to make an attempt on reclaiming the house from the its bombsite status. Ho hum!!

GreedyGecko · 18/06/2007 13:14

FH, You're not the only one who's made it rain. We finally got our lawm down last weekend. I should say I'm not complaining too much as the grass looks lovely, very green and growing & knitting together well!

DPs at home for at least a week, been signed off sick because his backs giving him loads of grief, he's at hospital now having blood tests to check his liver as he's been OD'ing on painkillers for a couple of weeks. He's now on stronger painkillers, but still in agony. He needs to find a different job, but he's worrying about money. I've told him it doesn't matter if we struggle for the next 5 years or so, it's better than him being ina wheelchair within thhe next few months. Oh, I don't know what to do with him. I feel like a b*tch cos I'm rationing his painkillers to make sure he doesn't take too many, but its so hard seeing him hurting. ANyway, thanks for letting me get that off my chest, just needed a little moan.

These are one of my new pairs of shoes . They're lovely! Out tonight with a friend I used to work wiht, and out on Weds with mums from school/. Which means I probably won't go out again for 6mths!

Rodeo, it's really odd for me hearing someone say that they haven't seen the sea yet this year. My mum didn't see the sea until she was 12. I really couldn't imagine not seeing it all the time.

Hope everyone's OK. Speak to you all later (I'll try to keep my drunken ramblings to myslef this time! )

Diege · 18/06/2007 20:13

Hello!! Well, heard today about the job and I GOT IT!!!!! yah!!! Really pleased! DH has gone out for Chinese and cream cakes ...may as well ride the high for as long as it lasts before reality sets in and I think about all the extra work this will mean!! So plan B (ttc) will have to go on the back burner, but hey it's what I wanted and not too long till Spring!
Apologies for such a self-centred post, but wanted to let you all know!!

BrownieBells · 18/06/2007 20:49

EXCELLENT NEWS DIEGE CONGRATULATIONS
Am honestly (and I really mean this) thrilled for you - good on ya girl!

We have had a good day - finally went to a playgroup which is round the corner from my house today, it's run by the Stratford Parenting Project, it's all funded by council stuff and pct etc - and doesn't cost a penny (and the kids get drinks & snacks, the Mums get cups of tea) and they put on loads of activities - it was great - just wish I'd plucked up the courage to go sooner - but these things always take me ages! Anyway, needless to say, we will be going again!
Right - off to get some stuff sorted - will post again later, just wanted tos ay congrats to the Diegester....

B

Evening!
WooHoo! Congratulations Diege!! Fab news, really pleased for you - did you find out by way of your cunning plan?!
Brownie - Well done on the diving in to your playgroup You'll have loads of new friends then soon, some of my best friends now are girls I've met through the children!
GG - Derby is the most land-locked city in Britain, so poor me and poor L&Ssmum have a 3 and a half hour drive to the nearest coastline, which is Skeggy (yuk) so make that 4 hours to Whitby/North Wales/Norfolk!! Enjoy your nights out
Thanks for the rain, Feety We went to the park about 5pm and got absolutely saturated! Jess loved it!! Had to completely strip the kids off in the car I took some pics actually, will try to upload them to Yahoo!

Diege · 18/06/2007 21:54

Thanks girls!! Felt quite tearful reading your messages . Lol RODEO about 'cunning plan' ; yes, think it worked! I e-mailed and said I had an interview early next week so NEEDED TO KNOW . Got them into gear anyway!! Feeling very sick now after totally overindulging...mmm, cream cake was so yum!! Thanls again

GreedyGecko · 19/06/2007 00:12

OH WOW ! CONGRATULATIONS DIEGE

Thats fantastic news.

Diege · 19/06/2007 10:31

Morning . Thanks GG! Well have a sort of hangover-ish thing after the pink champagne; I don't normally drink hence the effect of one small glass . Good news on the houseselling too. We have our first viewing tommorrow! Have managed to stall to give me a chance to have a bit of a tidy!!
Question to you all re: 'screeching'. Does anyone elses los do this? I mean real, ear-piercing, nausea inducing stuff, that doesn't respond to anything? Have heard of it before, but have been lucky to avoide with dds 1&2. Is it just a case of ignore? Sure it's to do with L's lack of words, but it doesn't seem to correlate to L wanting anything as such. My heart sinks when it starts, esp. when we are out and about! Any advice mucho appreciated

feetheart · 19/06/2007 11:28

Diege - [grin ]HUGE CONGRATULATIONS on the job, well done you

No advice re screeching I'm afraid though deepest sympathies. I would imagine ignoring 'might' work in the end, if you can get the others to ignore it too which I would imagine would be difficult. Just don't do what a friend of mine did and react all laughing and smiley and 'Oh, that's a horrible noise, ha,ha,ha' every time her DS did it. Cue screaming from here till eternity and internal screaming from the rest of us!!

Need to do an update don't I?
A is now just over 19mths and still a little treasure. He has 12 teeth, mad hair that WILL NOT lie flat, a very cheeky grin and legs and arms that seem to go in all directions when he runs (which is most of the time!) He loves being outside running, climbing or just pottering and has the wonderful ability to amuse himself for ages - at the w/e he stood and repeatedly dropped a stone into a bucket of water for over 20mins, giggling each time it went 'splosh'
He now sleeps through the night most of the time (huge hurrah!!), eats well but has turned into his sister when it comes to fruit and has just learnt to jump after months of trying.
His still signs masses but is starting to say more as well - 'Mum mum,' 'DaDa', 'Tess', 'Bob' (as in our next door neighbour or 'the Builder'), ' Na' (no!), 'car', 'kicka' (digger), and 'AM' (ham-most definitely said in capital letters!) I'm sure there others but can't think.

Better drag him out of bed now and pick up T - poor little 2nd baby!

Rodeo · 19/06/2007 11:41

Morning
LOL at slight hangover Diege! Glad it's not me for a change! (or Brownie or GG !) Ooh and not sure about the screeching, when does she do it? Is she happy or fed up when it happens, and no distraction stops it? Not even chocolate or ice cream?! Poor you, hopefully someone will offer better advice before you lose your hearing!
We got a letter in the post this morning, inviting Jess to an open day at playgroup She'll probably be offered a couple of mornings to start in January That's only 6 months away!
And just thought I'd let you know I've just set up my online sponsor page for my race for life if you'd like to donate anything, however small (I even bought some new running shoes on Saturday - it's getting serious!)
my race for life page
Better go, at toddler group this afternoon and I stink of horses and fly repellant and need a quick bath, Bye for now x

Hi Feetheart! PMSL at your friend really rings a bell with one of our friends! Her ds (now 4!) will scream at her over and over to for her to move chairs/get him a drink/go home etc. And she bloody does it!! Oh what I would give to wallop that child, and her for that matter!!
Cute A update LOL at AM! Aww, and his jumping! Jess thinks she's learnt how to jump - but her feet don't actually leave the floor!

OP posts:
Londoner · 19/06/2007 15:04

Hi all,

Diege, hope you're feeling better this afternoon. Blimey, screeching sounds a challenge. Know this one is asserting herself these days and a lot of foot stamping and "no"-ing but the screeching.... could it be teething related perhaps. Actually, reckon your instincts are prob the best guide and you reckon it's frustration.... when it happens is there some 'extra' way you could show her even though you don't understand what's bothering her that you are listening? Maybe crouch down and put your hand on her and try and get eye contact and talk gently? I find sitting on the floor/getting to their level and talking quietly/whispering can often diffuse a situaion. Hope you're not being driven bonkers, can only imagine.
Rodeo, lol at Joe and finger through the egg... yeuch! Good luck in your race, are you running or walking? Mind you, sounds like you mean business to me what with the new shoes, how's training going? Oh, and ROFL at Jess and thinking she's jumping, classic!
BB, new group sounds brilliant, what a find!
GG, so sorry to hear of your struggles with dp and pain, is this the same injury? You poor things, pain is so tiring, and looking after someone in pain as well as 2 lo's must be really stressful and wearing. Sending lots of strength and patience your way. Have you heard back from your HV re: bumping S up the SureStart playgroup list?
Hi Beks!
Feetheart, love image of A jumping around with sticking up hair!
Right, gotta go..

Beksmum · 19/06/2007 19:01

Hi all

Yay Diege CONGRATULATIONS - what a star you are and just think of all the practice you'll be able to do between now and the spring, but then again if you're going for no.4 you must be an expert already

GG sorry to here that your dp is suffering again, hope he's on the mend soon. Loved the shoes by the way, glad to hear you are making some time for you too - you need it. Give nme a shout if yuo need to let off steam, you know i'm just on the other end of the phone

Rodeo love the image of Jess 'junping'

BB well done on braving the playgroup, you'll make loads of new friends before you know it - don't you go forgetting us now

Hi Londoner, hope the brood are on the mend, looking forward to next week, shall I e-mail Tex?

FH I can definitely vouch for A and AM!!!

Diege re the screeching, T does it quite a bit and tomake it worse B normally joins in 'cos he finds it funny, haven't really found a way to stop it yet, normally just tell him 'NO@ and walk away from him for the sake of my own sanity. Sorry that's not much help is it!

Right hope everyone else is ok, got to dash as T has diorreah{sp?} so has a baboon like bot which needs metanium put on it and dh is not brave enough

Catch up again soon Beks

Londoner · 20/06/2007 10:56

Hi Beks, Oh no little T how is he this morning? Sorry but had to lol at 'baboon bum', poor little fella, glad to see your sense of humour is keeping you going Beks, how long has Diah' been going on for? Get some vitamins down everyone else quick! Lurgies still hanging on in my house, can't believe, so we're all swigging Minadex tonic with every meal in desperation. But..... they are all in school today, gasp. Am shell shocked. Right, Baby asleep, should be making most of it not looking on here.
Yes calling Tex good idea and anyone else who fancies it is v. welcome, just email me or Beks, am looking forward to a nice blanket picnic in the park with pals.
Hey to ChaCha, hope you and the lo's are all doing well and look forward to hearing all your news soon.

Londoner · 20/06/2007 20:57

Hello again,

Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing a super-clingy baby again? Atm it is taking me 2-3 hours to settle Baby to bed as every time she stirs, instead of going back to sleep as usual she goes "... where's mummy!? Emergency! Sound the alarm.." etc and is in terrible panic mode.
I have run away to be in the kitchen temporarily, she is awake again but chatting to her sister, who is in bed in same room trying to sleep now so she's keeping her awake as well now, great, d'you think she'll last long enough to do same to ds2 at his bed time? Blimey I hope not, am looking forward to a tiiiiiiny piece of me-time at some point today..... plleeease?
Any one else?
P.s. I'm going to sit in the garden and have a glass of cold beer .....think it is possibly my idea of something someone who was having a relaxing evening might do - and then start again.

feetheart · 20/06/2007 22:15

Oh, poor you Londoner, hope she slept in the end, and everyone else!
Can't help with clinginess ATM. My velcro baby has turned into an independent little thing who only wants Mum-mum for a kiss and cuddle when he has hurt himself - admittedly this is very often (see quote re arms and legs going in all directions!)

BEKS - how's the 'baboon bum'? Metanium is great stuff. The screaming sounds awful, especially at double volume. We are getting lots of copying each other at the table, usually stuff I don't want either of them to do but nothing that has wound me up too much..................yet!

Rodeo - A has spent the last 3 months trying to jump, and I've spent a lot of that time trying not to laugh!! It was the way that every fibre of his being, from the ankles up, was jumping but his feet stayed glued to the floor. Now he can't really believe that it works and has a great, dopey grin every time he remembers Here's hoping J doesn't have to wait too long for lift off!!

A has just learnt to say his name which sounds VERY cute

Oops, sorry

Rodeo · 20/06/2007 22:38

Evening
Just spent an hour planning Bella's birthday camping trip - why is finding a suitable campsite so difficult?! I'm more confused now than before Have finally narrowed it down to 3, thank goodness!
Oh Londoner - Loved you post I have the exact same night-time debacle, I'm up and down those stairs at least 6 times a night 'shhh, come on, straight to sleep you lot' 'stop talking, just close your eyes' 'don't make me come up again' 'Come on now, mummy's really tired' 'Right, this is the last time' 'I know she's noisy, just try to ignore her..'! So tiring isn't it?!
Feetheart, aww at A saying his name Jess goes 'Meeeee!' but says 'you' when looking at a picture of herself! When they're at this age 'me' and 'you' are so confusing! Do you think it's easier to use their name instead of me and you? It probably is...Doe's anybody know what I'm on about?!
Beks, Hope the bottom is better today, I feel so sorry for them when it looks that sore
Oh no! Somebody's awake!! Bye! x

OP posts:
Londoner · 20/06/2007 23:04

Phew yeah, all quiet on the cot front..... thanks for the support FH & Rodeo.
FH can't believe A saying his name it must be amazing.
Rodeo, but Ambassadeur.. you say the same things as me every night! LOL! Well done on B's b.day trip so how does that work then, are you taking some of her friends too? No no, must be a camping trip as a b.day treat? ... otherwise you'd be needing to consult our resident Brown Owl for tips (Hi BB!). Are you taking the lo? Do I get nulle points for not listening to previous posts, sorry if you've gone over this already.
Well, finally got madam off to sleep at 9.40(I started at 7 fgs). Then I had to root out ds2 and now I suppose I'd better take the pig prod to ds1.... by which time I'll be expecting dh home.......... am I going mad or what?
Just call me Mrs. Walton will you, it'll be morning by the time I've got this lot sorted, have a great night all.xx

Rodeo · 20/06/2007 23:25

Oh Londoner, why aren't we in bed yet?! Just taking our 3 happy(!) campers - anymore would be teetering on the brink of insanity! Anyway, thought I'd start a new thread on message 600.....Hang on.....

OP posts:
Londoner · 20/06/2007 23:29

Sounds great, when's B's B.day? How old is she going to be?

Londoner · 20/06/2007 23:32

Sorry, am ranting now! It's ds1 he's showing me all his latest myspace additions and I'm like "it's bed time" etc.... etc.... etc...
