BEKS - my thoughts are with you today, I hope you get to give your Grandan the send off you want.

Well done on the wardrobe Nova, and on not going into labour during the proceedings Any other things coming up that will be drastically affected if the baby decides to put in an appearance? I remember that Noo had impeccable timing - not!!
Hope the eye infection clears up soon. Will the Portland let you wear shades during labour

Lovely weather here too. We had a brilliant day at Whipsnade on Saturday, including a baby giraffe, a baby rhino and an exceedingly cute baby elephant here
And then yesterday we actually spent a bit of time in the garden, trying to tidy it up (something we should have done in the Autumn!!) and measuring out where we want our patio - at last!!! This has been discussed for the last 4 years with DH saying that he would do it. Now he has had a tax rebate and someone else is coming to do it!! Looking forward to breakfast in the sunshine SOON

ChaCha - I haven't heard of any of them either but then I am old!!

Hello to everyone else.

Diege · 12/03/2007 13:21

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been such a stranger over the past week or so; just been a bit self-absorbed with the whole work thing (the redundancies scenario)which is still ongoing.. Anyway, on a brighter note have enjoyed reading about the wardrobe saga NOVA!! Yes, do post some piccies . FEETHEART: nice inspiring thoughts of summer breakfasts!, though looking out of my office window not much sigs of Spring today! RODEO: Happy Birthday for Joe tommorrow in case I don't manage to get on (if I'd been more organised I would have got a card in the post!! ) - have 3 birthdays this week and mother's day looming so must get down that card shop!! BEKS: thinking of you today, and hope things go as well as they can.
Hi to everyone else, LONDONER, GG, BROWNIE, CHACHA!!! L has started the old tantrum phases too (right with you CHACHA on the swings one!), usually having 4 or 5 a day over things like getting socks on, nappy changes, going back in from outside/off the swings/leaving playbarn/wanting to walk on the road and not pavement..
Speak soon!
PS: all turned out OK with pencilgate, though we let them sweat it out a bit at nursery, refusing to sign the ancident form until we'd had the full story...and there's nothing quite like an incomplete accident form when Ofsted inspections loom!

ChaCha · 12/03/2007 14:10

Beks - Thoughts are with you all.

Selfish me post, sorry girls, will catch up later. Anyone use the next directory? Have never had a catalogue before but finding it difficult to shop with the little guys so have had a look at online and now need some help finding something to go with these two skirts:

110-351-x39 (khaki)
120-197-x39 (brown)

Any ideas? I don't have enough time to browse online but just some ideas would be great. What goes good with khaki? Would need matching top/shirt (long sleeved) and matching scarf. What footwear would look good?

Sorry, just in that mode of must buy new clothes and can't find anything. Am also frustratingly between sizes. x

BrownieBells · 12/03/2007 21:26

Hey - just wanted to pop on to say, ope everything went okay today Beks. [hugs and strength]

Chacha - depending on the Shade of khaki, pink can go quite well - definitely white or beige. Pale blue or green go nice with deep brown - actually any colours really! REd and brown is quite cool too... Footwear - I am a classy chick, so would probably opt for converse style pumps (obv haven't looked at the skirts you mentioned, so will prb find out they are very smart and formal!) but if they are long, casual style, any flat pump style shoes....perhaps I should actually have looked at the clothes you mentioned, then I would be able to comment better!

Right, off to bed shortly, as T has been waking very early lately (am, as usual putting this down to teeth!!) 4.30am on Saturday, 5.30am the last 2 days! so am getting the sleep whilst I can, hence goign to bed before 10 as often as possible)

Lots of love to all

x

ChaCha · 12/03/2007 21:50

Thanks BB - I chose brown in the end, i had a total panic and HAD to buy a few new things there and then, fed up raking through endless different sizes in wardrobe and finding nothing decent to wear. A definite wardrobe revamp is on the cards!!

Anyway, back to watch 'The Retreat', one of the participants has just become a Muslim after being exposed to the spiritual side of Islam - totally moving!
DS2 has been feeding non-stop, DS1 not impressed. Can't wait for bed. xx

Rodeo · 12/03/2007 22:04

Hiya all,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JOE!
Hi rodeo, hope your day goes really well and you enjoy nice nostalgic haze....... amongst all the chaos of a 5 yr old boy and friends.

Diege, so glad S is okay, was worried about that, and rofl at L's tantrumming scenarios, have lasting image of her walking off down the middle of the road into the sunset just like in the movies lol. Hope you're managing okay at work, sounds such a nightmare.x
Hi feetheart, omg that baby elephant is so ridiculous lol!
ChaCha, well done on sorting out your wardrobe thus far.... know exactly what you mean too, have a wardrobe full of stuff that doesn't fit/is ancient myself. Have heard really good things about Next home delivery too. Am so impressed at you persevering with the bf esp with a toddler in tow. Can remember only too clearly getting nothing else done when E was that age as constant feed/change routine every hour or 2, bet he's growing like mad!
BB, hope you got a bit of a lie in this morning?
Hey Nova - we await your check in........
Hi GG, you okay?

SPRi-i-i-i-i-iNG!

Londoner · 13/03/2007 08:34

Beks, sorry, hiya, hope you're okay today.x

novadandypowder · 13/03/2007 09:56

Nothing to report here.......

feetheart · 13/03/2007 10:31

Happy Birthday Joe

And a belated

Happy Birthday Ben - sorry, think I missed you out last week.

Rodeo - yes we do have a Annual Pass for Whipsnade and as we are only about 20 mins away we make full use of it. There is just so much space to run around, providing you don't mind cleaning mara/wallaby poo off pushchairs/small children

Nice to hear from you Diege, hope it all works out in the end. Glad to hear S is OK too.

ChaCha - know what you mean about a wardrobe clearout. I felt very virtuous when I did mine a while ago but as I'm not in a position to replace anything at the moment its looking a bit bare - Mother Hubbard springs to mind!!
Need to take the plunge and start selling things on ebay.

Right, need to tackle Tessa's room. Do all little girls collect hoards of tiny things or is it just mine?

Londoner · 13/03/2007 10:47

Nova, can you plan a busy week to counteract that interminable feeling of suspense? Soooo remember what it was like when spotlight clicks on, like person in lottery advert walking round with big pointing finger (not normally a violent person but felt like slapping anyone who so much as glanced at my pg body never mind ask me any questions and felt like copying the cat and just telling noone and sneaking off to hidey hole and deliver solo! Protective instinct times a million.) How is Noo today, is she doing that thing your other kids do when you're heavily pg and watching you like a hawk? Thinking of you anyway and hope you enjoy lovely London in the spring today despite hormone overload. I lived in West London til I was about 8 and used to love going to Kensington Gardens to look at that tree full of fairies and stuff.
Feetheart, lol, sounds great, must go soon.

twinkle1 · 13/03/2007 12:10

LaylaandSethsmum · 13/03/2007 12:29

First of all Happy Belated Birthday to Ben and Happy Birthday Joe for today, hope they both had/ have fab dyas and enjoy their parties!

Layla is 5 on 3rd April, shes having a gym party, which involves lots of ropes and crash mats I think!!

ChaCha, glad to hear you're doing ok and hope Z is a bit better now and you're managing to get some sleep! Is DH off work still or have you got your mum staying?

Beks- Hope yesterday went ok at least as well as these things can do.xx

Nova - Hope you're scabby eye is healing now , and that Noo has settled better into nursery. She may be getting some vibes that new arrival is imminent now and being a bit clingy. Like Londoner said try and keep really busy, get all those beauty appointments etc in before you're too busy!!

I'm still off line at home we had a laptop and a PC both have gone on th blink, my brother works in IT so is mending them for us but its taking forever!!

Rodeo, if you're free do want to meet in town on 19th? have got to choose S's Baby of the Year photo!! I will text you anyway.

Hi to everyone, Londoner, Diege ( Hope things are less busy for you now), Feetheart, Brownie,Tex and anyone i've missed, i'll apologise now if its a million years till I post again.

xxxx

LaylaandSethsmum · 13/03/2007 12:29

That bloody bold writing never seems to work for me!!

ChaCha · 13/03/2007 14:17

Hi girls,

Nice to see you all post

Weather here is just gorgeous - just took them to the park, ran around with DS1 until he wore out, fed DS2 on bench put him back in pram and yes, yes, bloody yes...they were both asleep in pram So there i was on park bench reading my magazine and feeling the warm sun on my pastie face...my God, it was bliss!!! [they are still sleeping..am besides myself with what to do next!!!]

Rodeo - Totally forgot J's b'day, so Happy Birthday to him and hope a great day is had by all.

Feetheart - me too. Have been wanting to get stuff on ebay and arrange a carboot - isn't quite happening.

Londoner - Hello Good to see you.

Will go and live dangerously while they sleep on...oh life in the fast lane!

LaylaandSethsmum · 13/03/2007 14:20

Cup of tea Cha Cha and a little snooze ... ( Long may it continue)

Beksmum · 13/03/2007 21:01

Hi girls

Happy Birthday Joe hope you've had a really great day and that you've saved us all a piece of cake

Thanks for all your thoughts and good wishes, it really is appreciated. Yesterday was hard but the service went well and Thomas was perfectly behaved, although I did keep his back to the c (am not going to use that word on here, too depressing)as it was lowered in case we got a well timed "bye bye" or "gone" He did however put in a few appropriate "yeah's" to My Way, which was one of my grandads favourite songs!!!

Rodeo, lol at hot fuzz, I really want to see that. Hot Flush is a musical about 4 women going through their menopause. It has Rula Lenska, Sheila Ferguson, Sam Kane and two other actresses whose names I can't remember. It was hilarious - one joke which I fear is going to linger with us was when Rula Lenska asked to borrow a tenner but she meant the pads not the note Can see this being trotted out a lot in future

Diege glad you made the nursery sweat - serves them right. Glad S is ok and no long term damage has been done.
Hope the job situation is sorting itself out if I can offer any outdated but practical advice let me know I think I can remember back to my pre child job in HR just!!!

Chacha glad you're getting a chance to enjoy the sunshine.

Feetheart perhaps we could meet up at Whipsnade when the weather gets a bit more reliable? I'd like to take Ben back as that's where we adopted a chimp for him when we had his naming ceremony!

L&S lol at the bold working when you said it wouldn't

GG hope the job is going well.

BB you'll appreciate this I'm sure,I had a really strange coincidence today, there is an old lady in the next street who we speak to occasionally, and I had said to her if you ever fancy a cup of tea just knock, I didn't think she ever would but she turned up on my doorstep today, bearing sugar mice for the boys. It's like I've inherited another grandparent and it couldn't have come at a better time.
Hope T is letting you get some sleep. I'm sure we'll be joining you tomorrow as we've got the dreaded MMR - wish me luck!

Right best go and write the mountain of thank you cards I've been putting off. Hope everyone else is well Beks

GreedyGecko · 13/03/2007 21:35

Hi all, sorry I've not been around much lately, been an odd week.

Happy Birthday Joe
Hope you had a great day.

Beks, I'm glad everything went well yesterday. That's lovely that your neighbour has come round, and as you say, just at the right time.

Great to hear everyones news, ChaCha, both boys asleep, sat in the sun, that sounds like utter bliss!

I have left my new job & have another 'new' job. Basically my new job was at a Harvester, but it's about 10miles away, and there's one only a mile away that I worked at a few years ago, so the sensible thing was to go back to the one near me. First shift there is Friday, 2nd shift will be Mothers Day. WHAT am I letting myself in for????? The other one wasn't busy enough anyway.

I've also just got back into contact with my niece. I haven't seen her for almost 6 years. It was really good to see her & her ds (OMG that makes me a great auntie!). We're very close in age, and were very close growing up - almost like sisters. It's really sad though, because it has to be kept quiet, it would destroy my mum if she knew.

LO screaming..gotta go xx

twinkle1 · 14/03/2007 08:25

Morning all,
Wow lots of birthdays at the min!!! Its Hollys 6th on thur, dosen't time fly eh???
oh must go breakfast cereal just catapulted across the dinning romm arghhhhhh

Diege · 14/03/2007 09:31

Morning!!! Really good to read all your news; have been feeling a bit , for no real reason, just lots of little stresses all mounting up, so really nice to read up, made me smile . BESK: sounds like you coped really well with the day, and T was so well behaved! . Loved reading about your new granny! How lovely to invite her over, you're very kind . Happy birthday for HOLLY for Thursday TWINKLE! Jasmine will be jealous that H is 6 and that she has to wait until July! Yes, let's meet up v.soon; I have to go into work for a meeting next wed (they've offered to pay childcare etc, as it's my day off - like it's as simple as just turning up at nursery and asking for a weds when there's an 18 month waiting list!!), then it's dentists/playdate the following week...will get my diary out later and have a good look!! Oh and I'll be sending that questionnaire soon!!! (anyone else know any midwifes???!!!)Hi GG!!! 'New' new job sounds sensible, though I don't envy you the mother's day rush!! Make sure you get a bit of time for yourself to get some pampering too! Hi to L&SMUM, LONDONER, CHACHA (wow, you are coping sooo well!), RODEO,NOVA,BROWNIE, FEETHEART!!! Good to hear all your news!
Well it';s DHs birthday today, so off to our usual pizza hut for a chaotic teatime!!!
Speak later

Rodeo · 14/03/2007 12:53

Afternoon!
Thanks for all the birthday wishes! He had a really nice day, my sister and her bf and my mum and her bf came round for cake, had a great time showing off his full set of power rangers! The presents we got him didn't even get a mention, hmpf! And my dad also got to pop in which was a big surprise as he's been mega busy at the Carlisle crash site since it happened.
So good to hear everybodies news as Diege says, GG new job(s), Beks old lady , and all the upcoming birthdays, off up to do the horses now, but will properly catch up later Bye x

OP posts:
ChaCha · 14/03/2007 20:28

Nova - You must be coping with the last days of PG very well, I was on here constantly moaning and groaning - hope you are all well and doing okay

GG - Congratulations on new job! and on contact with niece - hope it all goes well.

Hi to everyone else.

Had some clothes delivered today, mainly linen trousers, matching tops and a couple of skirts (practical day to days with two young ones). Tried everything on - thought i looked okay, asked DH if I looked fat in one particular top and trousers (why do i do that?) and he said '...em..no not fat as such but you do need to lose your pregnancy weight [eyes me up and down with emphasis on waist/hips/tummy] - you'll be fine if you keep up all that walking you do' I asked for it didn't i? Feeling v.depressed at weight now Off for bath before am summoned. x

Diege · 14/03/2007 21:31

Oh CHACHA, don;t you dare get down about your weight !!! HOW long has it been since you gave birth woman!! I was certainly schlepping about in my pregnancy stuff/trackie bottoms for about 6 months; oh and you have permission to give your DH a swift kick up the backside for extreme tact and diplomacy .
Hi RODEO, hope you had a good afternoon with the horses, you had the weather for it (if of course it's the same there as here !)Sooo warm this afternoon. Had great time in pizzahut - L very sweet and surprisingly well-behaved in high chair, amusing everyone with realistic impersonaltion of the sqeaky (sp?) door every time it opened!
Oh and question I keep meaning to ask.Anyone elses LO do a good impression of a screaming plank of wood when trying to prise them into the buggy?

ChaCha · 14/03/2007 21:55

All asleep DH crashed on sofa with one on each side - think i will ignore the washing mountains and go to bed while the going is good. Lack of sleep catches up on you every few days doesn't it? Think the key is just to give in.

Diege - LOL at screaming plank of wood. Same here, also get that when he is extremely tired - I have learnt to be patient when he starts throwing himself all over the place and screaming because usually 5 minutes later he is up on the sofa (he knows 'up on sofa' is time for sleep/milk/relax time) and out for the count. Today for example, after feeding himself breakfast was a complete mess so i took him for a bath, he came out, throw a wobbly at nappy being put on and proceeded to rip it off and have a real good tantrum - it was exhausting trying to get him dressed but 5 minutes later we were downstairs, bottle of milk and he was asleep..and for 2.5 hours!! Sometimes, though we get v.mini tantrums at not getting his own way (not being allowed into kitchen, being left behind stairgate, remote control taken away etc.)
WoW, should i continue with a short bedtime story to really put you to sleep? Sorry, you know me.

BED!!!!

ChaCha · 14/03/2007 21:56

What a load of waffle....geesh!
