Roll call please ladies and perhaps add the number of slings and buggies you have acquired at the time of posting... Wink

wil is she sleeping when you have your nap?

I just went out to ikea sans baby and she woke up screaming. I do not like colds. I did get some cot sheets and a new playmat for her though. I couldn't do the selfscan bit which was really embarrassing!

The wrap was [http://www.lovetobenatural.co.uk/didymos-lisa.html this one in a 6]]. Given how much they cost I should probably be a bit more careful.

Ffs. Never once has she stirred before midnight, always after. Tonight it's 4 times and counting.
Anyone know if this counts as putting herself to sleep... When we go in and she's awake-ish, us putting dummy back in and her eventually turning away and closing her eyes whilst we lay our hands on her tummy?
If so, Woohoo. If not, frick!

JuniDD · 09/04/2015 22:02

Yep minion it's a shocker isn't it? Can't quite relax in the evening in the same way. Sounds like she's getting herself back off.

Link fail in my last post, my wrap's a Didymos Lisa.

WilHarlot · 09/04/2015 23:50

Well technically she's using a dummy but it's very low-level input from you so totally counts in my book. I think they all need a little something to help them.

No Juni, usually she is awake when I sleep. A handful of times she has had a really long evening sleep (4 hours or so) but then she has slept for a shorter time after coming to bed so it hasn't worked out great.

Nessalina · 10/04/2015 02:46

Ugh, sympathies on the multiple wakes Min, but it does sound like she's learning to self soothe soothe, so she might start disturbing you less soon... Gx!

We've been trying out a proper 'routine' lately, taking him up to the nursery at 7pm, changing nappy, moisturise all over (to keep the eczema at bay) changing him into his night clothes & sleeping bag, then feed him (usually just takes one side), and read a story(DH likes to do that), and then as close to 7:30 as possible pop him down in Bednest with dummy and one of those bear with a blanket toys for him to mess with so he doesn't knock the flipping dummy out!, and do our very best to leave him to drop off without having to go back to him.

Then he usually wakes between 12-2, up for about half an hour for feed & resettle; then back down until 4-6; up for 30mims or so, then back down for another hour or two if we're lucky! Im praying for him to drop the second feed, it kills me when he wont go back down after a 5am feed!! He used to do 7:30-5 most days, then 4 months hit, and almost to the day it all went to pot, lol!

Anyway, It's actually been working a charm, we had three nights in a row where he popped straight off, no interference from us, but now we've gone away it's all got messed up again Confused He's been screaming to sleep the last two days! Quite looking forward to getting back home and getting back into it.

Nessalina · 10/04/2015 02:50

Good work by the way Juni, I'll have invest in one of them... Just in case DH keeps having those extra long lie ins... Grin

I'm in Leeds by the way. It'd be fun to arrange a meet up wouldn't it?? Somewhere central maybe? It'd be lovely to meet some viroids IRL!

Just realised - it's J's 5-month birthday today! Grin

ZylaB · 10/04/2015 04:35

It would be lovely :). Happy 5 months J!!

WilHarlot · 10/04/2015 04:45

Happy five months birthday J!

We had got to a stage where she would often do five or six hours but now we're firmly at a maximum of four. And she only feeds for two minutes so she's not even that hungry. It's so weird.

cookielove · 10/04/2015 09:08

Hello all :)

Happy 5 months J!

Is there an 8 month regression

TheBooMonster · 10/04/2015 13:48

Squish managed all of three hours in the crib last night, luckily DH was on a late shift so we could go to look at the photos from last weeks shoot so I was able to get a couple of hours in after he got up before I had to drag myself up.

Squish has started exploding milk. Can't work out if this is because I'm not winding her properly and she's burping it out or if she has some sort of reflux thing, but I've ended up drenched in milk about 3 times in the past 24 hours. Hope it's just a phase as I'm about concerned about her being sick in the borrowed sling when it arrives :/

TheBooMonster · 10/04/2015 13:50

Blimey juni 5 months has come round fast!

cookie I remember toddler being a nightmare at 8 months, but that was round about the time I went back to work...

WilHarlot · 10/04/2015 14:58

Hahaha I love that your concern is sling-related Boo. You're a woman obsessed! Wink Does she seem uncomfortable or just a happy chucker?

ZylaB · 10/04/2015 15:04

Poor H screamed and screamed having her first vaccinations. Apparently they could hear her in the waiting room, nothing wrong with her lungs then!! ;). Might get MrZ to take her for the next ones as they're when he's got a week off! I firmly believe it's for the best her having them, but the way she burrowed into me after broke my heart a bit. She's curled up on me now and I don't think she's any intention of moving! :)

cookielove · 10/04/2015 15:34

E screamed for all his injections - heartbreaking! He use to cry when I laid him on my lap and pulled his trousers down, he just knew what was coming! :(

Glad I have a while before his next lot.

Quick question as all of you seem to be sling mad, do you take a bag when out, my bag goes on the pushchair as it is so heavy!

TheBooMonster · 10/04/2015 17:16

wil she's being a bit of a fussy clingy grump today, but every time she's been sick she's not been unhappy or fussy in the lead up. I'm almost certain it is gas...

cookie I'm taking my Bramley Tote with 3 nappies each for the girls, wipes, bum cream and nappy bags, wet bag, change mat, a minimal change of clothes each, crayons and colouring book, drink and snack for toddler, keys, purse, phone ad that seems to be more than enough on the limited trips out we've managed. if Toddler is on foot like yesterdays city trip she's got her reigns backpack so she can take some of the stuff that's hers because what's the point in having a toddler if you can't load them up like a packhorse

Toddler never seemed to know what was coming when she had her jabs, and would always look accusingly at me like i'd committed some great crime once she was being stabbed and then she'd howl squish barely noticed her heel prick test because they did it whilst she was feeding, so I'm naively hoping she'll be similar with the jabs...

ZylaB · 10/04/2015 18:01

cookie so far I've only done big distances with the sling when DH is there to carry the bag ;). The other time I've used it I actually had the pram too, had to use the sling as H was struggling with her reflux, so the bag was still under the pram :). Pretty sure if I streamlined it a bit it'd be fine, but I think I carry too much of everything atm.

Minion · 10/04/2015 18:19

Hi gals!
Oh the wide eyed ' what the hell are you doing to me ' look, before the shrill scream of pain. All done by a smiling assassin masquerading as a nurse.
Tho I swear ours almost cried when she did R's shots.

Well I've been in charge of a massive grump t today. God she's been hard work.
Just vommed on me, so I can assume that's why.

WilHarlot · 10/04/2015 20:22

I also wonder that about slings. Carrying the baby is heavy enough.

I'm quite hard ass about injections, or maybe it's that I have such screamy children that I don't notice the crying any more. MiniWil was never that bothered by them but this wee one seems upset by everything. She has cried so much today, I'm wondering if she has caught the chicken pox already.

ZylaB · 10/04/2015 20:39

Aww bless! Tell you what wil il come see you and we can have crying girls together and not feel so bad about it! Grin

JuniDD · 11/04/2015 11:32

Happy weekend!
BabyJ just had a two hour nap. She's not done that for months. Even better, I slept too. Grin

OP posts:
Nessalina · 11/04/2015 11:49

What a treat Juni! Smile
I was up in the night with horrendous stomach, but J gave me 2-6 which I felt great after despite not much sleep before that - it's all about number of hours in a row I find. Quality rather than quantity!

Boo, of it helps, J did a few massive voms close together over a couple of days and it came after he'd had a growth spurt, so I think it was down to a) my boobs adjusting their supply and being a bit engorged, and b) J having eyes bigger than is stomach! I think he was just taking in a bit much and the eject button was being triggered. He was always perfectly happy after a massive Vom whilst I'd be in total shock having been hosed down! Grin

TheBooMonster · 11/04/2015 14:44

nes she's not been sick at all today but she has barely come off the boob apart from when I got the ring sling out and took the girls to the shop, so perhaps it is a growth spurt thing!

Stupid question: I can totally lighten my hair right? None of the chemicals will get in my milk will they?

Nessalina · 11/04/2015 17:06

I've got my period!!! How very dare she, the witch!! Confused

Nah Boo, you're fine Smile Do a patch test though - your sensitivities can change after pregnancy. Should be fine, but best to check!

ZylaB · 11/04/2015 18:05

I love my baby to bits, but can someone tell me where the switch is to turn it from 'cranky and difficult' to 'easy'? I'd even go for 'normal'. I just want to be able to put her down somewhere for more than 10seconds without her screaming, to go out somewhere without her screaming all the time unless I'm virtually running around with her in the sling. I'd like to be able to relax...please...anyone?

WilHarlot · 11/04/2015 18:18

Zyla I wish I knew. Even worse, this is my second one like this. I just make them faulty. She's screaming but won't eat or sleep and has a clean nappy. I need the toilet but can't put her down without a nuclear meltdown. She had to be carried round the shops today as just cried in the buggy. We do definitely need to get them together and they can just yell at each other.
