Evening (morning) all

Good luck for 6 week check frenetic I hope all goes well.

I hope your LO feels better soon memphis Brew

jack, hooray! Let us know if your little lady stayed in her cot. I hope she did for you!

SIL came to do my hair this evening, DP agreed to watch LO and put DD1 to bed so we could get on in the kitchen. He finally settled LO when DD1 started screaming from upstairs - she had been sick everywhere and continued to do so for 2 hours Sad I already had foils in my hair so DP and I were a tag team between both kids. Not fun and now I'm just waiting for my turn to be sick Confused she'll be off nursery tomorrow and I've got a bin liner full of bedding to hose down and wash. Feeling quite daunted by the thought of tonights feeds and the work that lies ahead of me tomorrow. DD1 seems to be fine now, I've just checked in on her again and no more sick.

I wish DP would stop bloody snoring!! Angry

viperama, you can get pop up bassinets and travel cots that fold away into a little bag so will save on space. I think they come with an inflatable mattress too. I've always used a normal travel cot and it's been fine, a hauck one I think but for our holiday this year I'm planning on using a pop up bassinet.

PeppermintInfusion · 26/03/2015 05:58

It's been a long sleepless night here with wind - I could hear it rattling through him all night Sad
I'm considering taking him to the docs today but not sure they'd be able to do much?

GeekyHybrid · 26/03/2015 08:06

Good luck tweety, hope the interview goes well. How did it go jack? Welcome back viper, they are adorable aren't they even if we do spend so much time whinging about them.Wink memphis hope you got your sleep and it's not too wet and windy at work.
I have a snotty crabby child this morning. Not all out crying but that whinging edge of which you feel could tip at any moment Confused I don't think he knows what he wants but is going to fuss til I give it! Bless.

peppermint have you tried Infacol? It helped here.

Grinningcat · 26/03/2015 08:17

memphis yes he is already in the moses basket in the cot, but the cot is on the highest setting so I guess the next step is to get DH to lower it to the middle height setting. Really looking forward to getting it set up.

Had a good night last night. Woke for feeds at 12.30, 4, and then 7. Hope we stick with this pattern for a while.

PeppermintInfusion · 26/03/2015 11:14

Yes geeky, been on it for about 2 weeks it made a little difference and changed to comfort milk as the first milk was being vomited back up. At the docs now as think it's colic, as he is writhing in pain and you can hear the wind

Memphisbelly · 26/03/2015 11:26

I didn't lower our cot for 6 months last time as he never moved when he slept Grin Shock

Mimosa1 · 26/03/2015 11:28

Aaaargh hope those of us with sick DCs have them feeling better soon. 6 week check for baby mimosa today too. She keeps having eyelashes drop into her eyes although it doesn't seem to bother her. It would drive me mad Shock. Anyone got any tips for removing them or should I just leave?

Welcome back viper!

BanglesSpangles · 26/03/2015 11:35

Hey all, finally caught up on this while waiting for my 6 week appointment- total disappointment- i waited half an hour for two minutes of blood pressure, check uterus, prescribe the pill, thanks goodbye. She didnt even look at LO and in spite of me wanting to ask about feeding and reflux, she didnt give me any opportunity, and stupidly i was too embarrassed to say 'so, i have a question'. Stupid stupid me. Going to go to the health visitor clinic on monday and try not to be so shy!

Memphisbelly · 26/03/2015 12:07

bangles I am stunned i was in 40 mins apart from feeling my stomach and chatting about the pill it was all LO. stripped him off looked at everything down to toe joints. they should have checked eye dialation, roof of mouth and stomach as a minimum.

Memphisbelly · 26/03/2015 12:07

and ask you general questions about your wellbeing

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 26/03/2015 12:31

Bangles by me 6week check for mom is literally blood pressure, contraception and tell us if you think you have and. They don't even check uterus. I didn't even bother making a six week check appointment this time, just asked them to check my blood pressure on a general appointment and note down I'd had 6week check so that reception didn't hastle me.

Memphis here the baby check is seperate and despite them still calling it a 6-8week check they didn't allow me to book DS's until 13weeks andand I still haven't been able to book DD's (she's 6weeks).

freneticfox · 26/03/2015 12:47

Just back from six week check, was there nearly an hour, going through things quite thoroughly. Still on an upped dose of ADs which I'm happy with. Well, happy as can be anyway.

Had ranitidine put up for LO, I showed GP video of the epic writhing and grunting and he agreed it's silent reflux (he's never really physically sick after feeds).

All in all was nice to be reassured, felt like I was going to be told everything was all wrong. So tired today, utterly awful night. We tried not swaddling and it did not go well.

Memphisbelly · 26/03/2015 13:01

whyO here its a triple appointment booked for both together and i also had 6 week hv visit.

frenetic glad you are reassured

PeppermintInfusion · 26/03/2015 13:33

Well my gp checked him over and said it could be colic, but not much can be done except to ride it out and come back in 2 weeks to see about that and also because DS gets really sweaty and he wants to follow up on that too.
He is much more settled this afternoon though, and Ewan the dream sheep arrived yesterday which seems to help relax him- it also sends the dog to sleep!

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 26/03/2015 13:42

Memphis we get a 6-8week HV check up here too. I've got that on April fools. Hoping weather will be nice enough on that day for DS to play in the garden, so that lounge can stay perfectly immaculate for her bloody arrival. I'm still pee'd off over her comments last time. Good job she didn't come when DS was a baby - I wasn't half so organised then or when I was pregnant with DD and DS didn't put anything away, so lounge was always a tip by the afternoon.

Frenetic - hope the increased ranitidine works. If not, its worth discussing the possibility of intolerance or allergies.

freneticfox · 26/03/2015 13:51

The thought of allergies hadn't occurred to me. Sincerely hope he's not allergic to the cats :/

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 26/03/2015 14:25

Frenetic sometimes reflux is caused by intolerance or allergies to things like cow milk protein or other food in your diet that passes into breast milk or ingredients in formula. If meds don't help its always worth looking into.

JacktheLab · 26/03/2015 18:46

Geeky sorry I didn't check in again - oops! Jags were fine, Pheebs hasn't really been much more sleepy, she has slept a little more today and yesterday than before, but she was getting herself into a bit of a routine anyway, so not sure if there was any effect.

My six week check was just for me, bit pointless, I only booked one as I wanted to get the doctor to check my incision otherwise I'd not have bothered. P got her own check at the same time as her injections, the doctor came in and checked her over as well as the HV being there and it was the last appointment before lunchtime so the HV would have been happy to spend time talking if I needed to, I'm lucky having a nice HV here :)

GeekyHybrid · 26/03/2015 18:52

I'm jealous frenetic, I showed my video of epic writhing / noise and I got Colief which is enzyme based to help them digest the sugars in milk. It's helped a bit but I'm sure it's silent reflux as he's still not comfortable on his back for any period of time. And administering this Colief is a faff, basically going to have to use formula tomorrow as going up to London. Unless I express on the train Shock
