Oh dear Wil! Confused What's up?

Zyla, I'd forgotten about the sugars issue, I guess that makes them extra cautious about it! You've got a good chance of your milk coming in properly tomorrow though, so that and all the lovely skin on skin, hopefully should get things going for the two of you! It's darned hard to do it with loads of visitors though Grin I couldn't wait for people to bugger off so I could get on with it!

J has done a good long snooze (8:30-4!) and then taken forever to settle back down, so hoping he gives me a couple of hours more Smile Silly mummy didn't go to bed til 11:30 Confused

ZylaB · 11/02/2015 06:15

I think we have what's technically known as a Velcro baby! She won't be put down to sleep or anything without a screaming dippy fit. Good job she's so damned cute! DH had her nearly all night so I could catch up on some sleep, knew there was a reason I love him! . Think them having me in hospital for nearly 2 weeks before having her was special sleep deprivation torture! At least now she's here I can sit and stare at her :)

willywallace · 11/02/2015 06:56

Ah zyla that's pretty normal the first few days not sure it's so normal after three weeks. Especially when she's a bit early and wasn't ready to come out.

I think I have had two hours sleep. Since 5am yesterday. The grunting and squeaking is driving me mad.

ZylaB · 11/02/2015 07:00

Yeah wil I keep reminding myself she should have had another 4 weeks in there! Also she's a bit mucosy so likes being carried with her head on my shoulder, she can breathe easier and probably hear my heart...after all she did fight the induction to try and stay put lol! Mind you, my body is doing much better for not being pregnant!

ZylaB · 11/02/2015 07:03

I'm actually going to break out the sling today as that's her preferred position, and give it a try. It's apparently ok for newborns and preemies.

willywallace · 11/02/2015 07:23

What type do you have? I don't like mine and am looking for something else. That's pretty much our default position too.

JuniDD · 11/02/2015 09:38

DD is still asleep from morning feed that finished at 7am!

I am trapped on the bed though as I put her down next to my legs
Gotta go sling library too so here goes some gymnastics!

JuniDD · 11/02/2015 09:44

She's awake.
wil can anyone help you get some sleep? xx

FurryScoob · 11/02/2015 10:26

Hello & congratulations zyla
Don't worry about the amount of milk you can express, even at my peak of milk producing I could only express 1/2 an ounce with a hospital grade pump. DD was definitely better at getting the milk out, my boobs just didn't like being expressed!

wil hope your getting some help Flowers

We went to the cinema yesterday, turns out DD loves Shaun the sheep! Feeling very pleased with myself for going on my own with her (had to park in a multi storey car park & squeeze car seat out car door) & how quite she was through the whole thingGrin

willywallace · 11/02/2015 10:57

Ah baby cinema sounds great.

My mum is here. My thinking is though that it's better just to have one knackered adult so that the other adult can deal with the toddler. MrWil thinks he's had a bad night if he gets less than 6 hours and I'm not sure I could put up with his mumping and lying about. However I very well may start hallucinating at some point. Grin

RPopz · 11/02/2015 12:04

Oh I know Will If DH tells me he's tired one more time I might punch him in the face! Hope you get a nap while your Mum's here.

Velcro babies are par for the course for first few weeks Zyla! Just accept your crib is useless for now... Wink and try and nap in the day! Grin

Baby cinema?? Is that a thing?

willywallace · 11/02/2015 12:42

Yes odeons do it. They put the lights up a bit and turn the sound down a bit - although I thought it was still quite loud. And you can go watch a film and take baby along. Think it's only certain ratings they can show but I managed to see a grown up film - probably won't have it for 50 shades though Wink .

ZylaB · 11/02/2015 13:00

wil its a caboo close, she wasn't too keen but I think she just likes cuddles! I'm going to keep trying with it as it'll make life a lot easier.
I want to do baby cinema soon!

Minion · 11/02/2015 15:15

Hi zyla congratulations kid!
I'm back. Had a blue day yesterday, couldn't settle her at all so wasn't in the best frame of mind to mn.
Toasty started out the same, but we've come into town abs she's slept, hopefully deeply.
Tried her in the sleeping bag last night. Legs all over the show, so it's a no go for now. And she's not a fan of the Co sleeper, but she's going to have to get over that as she's already nearly out of her moses!
Long bugger.
Any ideas how to help her settle in it girls?

Also bought the super sized muslin blankets for swaddling so that may help.

This six week spurt is awful. Poor thing.

willywallace · 11/02/2015 15:47

All out of ideas Min. I read once that if you put something like a muslin in which smells of you it helps but I doubt it works.

I'm a frigging insomniac. I lay in bed for two hours and couldn't get to sleep yet I'm so tired my hands are shaking. What the fuck is wrong with me? So I'm eating ice cream in bed instead. Grin

ZylaB · 11/02/2015 16:02

Mmmmmm ice cream!

Well we had an hour or so skin to skin on the sofa, she looked smug, curled up and slept for ages but then (eventually) latched on for 15 mins which is the longest so far! Now she's sleepong again :)

willywallace · 11/02/2015 16:13

Hurray zyla well done!

JuniDD · 11/02/2015 20:29

15 mins is brilliant. When dd went on a left boobie refusal I was avidly reading kellymom.com and the thing that stuck in my mind was "patience and perseverance". They will get there!

wil sounds like you're a bit hopped up on adrenline? Just lie back and close your eyes. Someone was telling me about going through all of your senses and it helps you relax - "what can i smell now? what can I taste now?" etc rather than thinking about the minutes of potential sleep ticking away! Rest is as good as sleep!

I may be in for a crazy night as DD had TWO feeds today. Although I think she is pre-4-month sleep foolishness so perhaps it'll be a good night?!

willywallace · 12/02/2015 01:06

That was really good advice Juni. Managed to get an hour and a half earlier.

JuniDD · 12/02/2015 07:50

Good stuff! Wish I had taken my own advice. Lay wide awake for an hour and have since only had two two hour blocks. No two and a half hour morning nap so far...

willywallace · 12/02/2015 08:46

Oh no! That's just typical.

How are you getting on Min?

2 1/2 hours seems to be the most I can get out of this one in a block. When I get to about 5am then she won't do more than an hour in the crib but will typically do longer in bed with me. Did anyone else still have such short blocks at the three/four week stage?

Minion · 12/02/2015 11:25

I'm ok wil, I've got the same issue with this one with the morning feeds. She'll do an hour tops then she's up for the day.
Don't blame her really, she's been kipping for the last 10 hours. Probably bored out of her skull!
We've moved the bed side crib to the other side of the room. Neither of us were functioning properly aand were keeping R awake I think.
Much better night.
She fought her morning nap again so she passed out in the baby carrier on the way to rhyme time! Is funny how people look at you when you 'wear' a baby.
This part was written an hour later... She woke up straight away but was good as gold on the library.
Off to town to introduce her to my friends. God forbid they wake her. They'll be hell to p a y ha!

RPopz · 12/02/2015 15:40

Yup Wil - up until this week really DS was up every 2 hours in the night for a feed. And he rarely sleeps in the day unless I take him out in car/pram/ sling.

I need to make a GP app for my bum grapes. In actual agony here. When does this pregnancy shit end!? Angry

Minion · 12/02/2015 16:49

When they leave home apparently!

Fuck!
I've been out with my mates in the pub. I'm a little buzzed and possibly going to be reported to child services for taking a baby along.
She's done nowt but slept. Totally making me look a liar!

willywallace · 12/02/2015 17:09

Ah Min they're good at that. Especially when you go to the doctor to say that they 'just won't settle' and they lie there looking all serene.Hmm

Thanks Popz. How many weeks is he now? Are you more settled with the name? At least she sleeps during the day then. I just got an hour and a half's kip.
