cookielove · 09/02/2015 13:32

Elijah is still poorly although this doesn't seem to be affecting him to much he had a ridiculously cute giggling day yesterday! (Got a dr appointment for him later in the week)

He also tried pear yesterday which he quite enjoyed this morning he had all but one spoon of porridge and then I mixed in a load of pear and he scoffed it.

I'm gonna try and offer him food 3 times a day as he doing so well :)

juni yay for long naps :)

Can't believe you're weaning already Cookie, where has the time gone?!

Can't believe your house is in a fit state to host baby massage Juni. The health visitor arrived unexpectedly earlier which was a bit embarrassing.

I cannot stop eating. Continually ravenous.

cookielove · 09/02/2015 17:44

We started a bit early with weaning, to be fair he was just tasting it to begin with he is now actually eating not much just a small feeding bowl or 1-2 ice cubes worth.

He is 6 months on Friday which is freaking me out my little scrunched up baby is huge!

OP posts:
Nessalina · 10/02/2015 04:08

Wow, 6 months has gone so fast!! J is 3 months tomorrow Blush Good grief!

He was a pain in the bum yesterday, refused to nap all day, and he's usually pretty good at going down a couple of times! Hopefully today will be an improvement.

I need to get back on the grads thread to congratulate Lil! How thrilling Smile

willywallace · 10/02/2015 10:10

Your babies have passed their colds on. Wink This snuffly little thing wouldn't settle this morning so I've been up since 5.15 Sad .

Minion · 10/02/2015 10:17

Feel your pain wil
Only 2 hours sleep since 12:30 list nnight.

cookielove · 10/02/2015 10:25

willywallace · 10/02/2015 11:05

Ooh Min you win. Although I think she might have diarrhoea...

What kind of group is it? Hope you meet nice people.

The world is conspiring against me this morning and nothing going to plan. Determined to make my lunch date though.

Minion · 10/02/2015 12:01

Oh she wasn't screaming or anything, in fact for the most part she was asleep. She was just writhing all over the place, couldn't shut up making noises, which kept me awake.
She is currently refusing to nap. I thought sod it, flung her in the baby carrier and hoovered, sterilised and ate.
She's now currently trying to sleep on me, but we have to go out soon.

I hope it's not too cliquey. and they are as equally knackered as I am

RPopz · 10/02/2015 13:59

I'm so crap at keeping up on here! Shock

Hope you made it to your group min.

Sorry about all the no sleepers and poorly babes. Diarrhoea sounds horrific Wil... Sad Is the bfing getting any easier?

DS is sleeping in the bed nest now on a night... its a bloody miracle! Can't believe he is 5 weeks already. When do they stop being newborns?

It's official, I have piles. They are actually worse than childbirth! Shock Sad

Just eaten a packet of biscuits for lunch Blush

Minion · 10/02/2015 16:07

Hi popz!
I know, babies do get in the way of life MN
Made it to the group, for a free session I'm surprised only 4 of us went. It was an intro to baby yoga, can't say I was sold tbh. Although R did enjoy the baby beanbag.
She also was the loudest most nosiest kid there. Even the instructor was amazed at her neck control.
I'm knackered. She's knackered. She's refusing point blank to sleep. I just hope this means we are in for a nice long stretch tonight though, as that seems to be the way.
Poor little miniwil2.
What can you give for that so young?

willywallace · 10/02/2015 16:07

I have piles too. They're most definitely not worse than childbirth though. I reckon you have about a week of newborn-ness left. At the most, three.

That was our trouble last night too min. Poor thing was trying to sleep but just couldn't settle. I got a good 3 1/2 hours out of her first though.

willywallace · 10/02/2015 16:12

I'm not sure it's diarrhoea. It's quite hard to tell with bf poos I think. She was going all the time last night and this morning but seems to have stopped now. Probably just got a bit of a cold I think. Although she has been asleep since 12 apart from a five minute feed.

RPopz · 10/02/2015 16:38

Haha, maybe I'm just a wimp then. I thought I'd be all hard core after birthing a baby but apparently not. Piles make me cry! Just fell on my ass in the mud walking the dog as well. NOT what the doctor ordered!!

4 hour nap!? Shock Envy Will you pay for that later??

That's kinda what puts me off going to baby stuff min... thinking I'll be the only one there! It's good to get out though.

ZylaB · 10/02/2015 17:46

sticks head around door hi, they let us out today! She's sleeping loads and loads, but hasn't been having much to eat so guess that's why. I'm not making tons of colostrum (failure number 1 at being a mum so far!) but she's having what we can, just need my proper milk to come in as we are topping up with formula every 3 hours until then as she was officially premature and they don't want her getting behind as they're happy with her at the moment.

Crap amounts of colostrum doesn't mean crap milk does it??

JuniDD · 10/02/2015 17:56

hey zyla congrats again!
How do you know you're not making much colostrum? Is she latching ok? Hanging out in bed both of you topless and letting her latch on as often as possible will help. She'll swing herself down between your boobs when she wants some! Keep eating and drinking & your milk will be just fine.

DD has been proper clingy today. I needed some cuddles after dealing with a huge shite up her back at 6.30. RUDE.

willywallace · 10/02/2015 18:01

Is it really crap amounts of colostrum zyla? How do they know how much you have? Hospitals are very keen on the formula top up. If she sucks enough hopefully it'll stimulate the milk production. That does not mean you're a failure by the way, put the mother's guilt off for at least a day Smile .

Did anyone see you fall Popz? Falling on piles won't have added to your happiness Grin .

She's still asleep popz. She does it every day. Awake in the morning then sleeps all afternoon and most of the evening. I have tried to keep her awake but I just get the screams.

RPopz · 10/02/2015 18:26

Zyla you are NOT a failure! Colostrum is low volume high calorie feed. I seriously never saw one drop of colostrum but DS kept latching on for hours so something must've been happening! Hospitals are a bit formula top up happy. But it doesn't mean the end of bfing. DS had low blood sugars after birth so we had to cup feed him formula for a couple of days as a top up. He's ebf now though Smile You'll feel loads better when your milk comes in and you can actually see it!! It's supply and demand so let her suckle away whenever she fancies so she can put her order in Grin

Noone saw Wil Grin My ass hurts now though Shock

RPopz · 10/02/2015 18:27

Make the most of the sleepy first week too Zyla Wink

willywallace · 10/02/2015 19:52

Just been spewed on twice Sad . I think she may be poorly.

Nessalina · 10/02/2015 21:30

Hey Zyla! I'm surprised they've got you topping up so soon, definitely don't let it put you off BFing though. Colostrum only comes in teeny tiny amounts! I've got a good idea of how much you get, because I syringe fed J on just hand-expressed colostrum for the first 48hrs until he latched on properly (with a nipple shield), and the amounts are minuscule. Looking at my notes, he had just 6-8ml every 2hrs, I was literally syringing up droplets, it took forever initially, but I got a wee bit more each time, and on day three my milk arrived. So don't worry about volume, your boobs are made to suit your baby's needs!

Glad the group was ok Min Smile If you've got any sure start centres nearby they usually run BFing cafes and playgroups and I've found our local ones to be really friendly and not cliquey at all! Me and J gave baby massage a go on Monday, and he weed all over the show Seemed to enjoy it though!

Nessalina · 10/02/2015 21:30

Oh Wil, that's rubbish Sad hope she perks up soon xx

ZylaB · 10/02/2015 22:30

I was syringing too ness as she wouldn't latch. The syringing/hand expressing and top ups are because I'm diabetic and they worried over her sugars, then over the fact she's a bit prem. I could only get half a ml though, in about an hour or an hour and a half, was rubbish! just had a nice time in bed where she tried to latch straight away so am planning on spending the day naked with her tomorrow after PILs and mw have been!

ZylaB · 10/02/2015 22:30

wil hope she feels better!

willywallace · 11/02/2015 03:57

Also zyla, how much you can express isn't actually an indicator of how much milk you have. You can have tons of milk and just not be able to get it out. So don't worry.

Tonight is going very very badly....
