Calling all lurkers! If you're reading but finding life too hectic to keep up then please check in and give us a brief update.

I'm finding things a bit hectic myself at the moment. DS1 and DS2 are both changing schools after the summer and J is keeping me busy as always. I do try and keep up with the threads but I don't post as often as I would like.

I turn my back for 5 minutes to feed DC and Lily has killed the thread. Well played!

I read as much as I can. O starts nursery in 2 weeks and I have a week off work this week to start settling in seasons and take him on a day trip to the seaside. Any nursery tips/advice?

Busy day here. Play date this morning, granny and grampa this afternoon, park and fish and chips. P is well and truly giving up milk now - no lunch time bottle and no bedtime bottle either. I keep offering but now long should I do that for?

My mum and dad keep talking about p not being a baby anymore and being. Proper wee girl. Makes me mostly proud and a little sad.

Also today I chopped p's nap by half and it still took her over an hour to get to sleep. Not quite sure what to do about it. Mostly she is happy alone and singing so it shouldn't bother me.

We've just had a lovely birthday BBQ with pals out in the East Neuk countryside. My pal has rescued some ex battery hens so J was delighted with 3 dogs and a flock full of chooks to play with. His chicken noise is quite realistic now! She has a hammock too so he's learnt to say "up you go" and "you can do it". He was the only tot there (everyone else kids were teens) so got a lot of fuss, especially after his bath when he was tottering round the garden with fluffy hair, sleepsuit and wellies. We've just snuck him into bed now.

Pass we offered milk for 2-3 nights at bedtime, after I weaned him - he didn't want it, so we stopped. That was in March.

Thank god for calpol, and pub-cats. We managed to stay out til 9 in the end, both girls crashed out in bed now, I'm not far behind.

Qq - do we all qualify for the minor ailments scheme or is that Scotland only? I ask because we get calpol, bonjela and nurofen from the chemist for free.

That's interesting yw. I think I should let it go. Apparently by nephew stopped very suddenly months ago so I think actually she has hung on quite a while. Should I offer her milk in a cup?

J's first was "bye bye choo choo". He still says it every time we get off a train .

His chat is a bit blue at the mo - "wellies on" sounds like willies on. "Makka pakka" sounds like makka bugger, "hat on" sounds like hard on and "chicken pock pock" sounds like chicken fuck fuck .

Pass he has a big beaker of koko milk and nesquik every day, along with his calcium and D vits that's all the milk the dietician reckons he needs.

I am pretty certain p says bugger - I wouldn't be surprised.

She is starting to do two word sentences more and more now. Three word if you include mummy or please. So, "more cheese, please" or "mummy, TV, please"

As for minor ailments that's just Scotland, because I've got a bottle in his nursery bag, one upstairs, one downstairs - I'm wary of getting them all from minor ailments as they'll think I'm ODing him

P would happily live on cheese and has a yogurt ever day. That's probably enough calcium, do you think?

Haha! I had the same concern but DH has got quite chummy with the pharmacist thankfully!

I think the rough rule of thumb is they start 2 word sentences once they've got a vocab of 100 words and 3 word sentences once they hit 200.

I've got a pal from toddlers who is actively trying to "teach" her DD 3 word sentences and is telling her off for being naughty when she can't do it - yet never really chats to her kid in a way likely to increase her vocab (the "no because I said so" type). Poor little soul. DH calls her dog trainer Mummy.

I WISH we got free calpol! I've single handedly funded the staff bonuses at the calpol factory this year (only v slight exaggeration).

And Pass, this was one fat, I-eat-all-the-leftovers, silky smooth, black cat. He was lovely. And tolerated Fs affections admirably.
