Ladies, babies, and bumps, welcome to the new thread!

Should we start this off with an update from us all like last time? I thought that was nice, especially for those who get little chance to catch up.

OP posts:

GarfieldsGirl · 12/11/2006 09:53

Hi all, can I just tell you a story of something my friend said years ago. I was telling it toone of my friends the other day, and have to tel you, as I'm still giggling about it now 6 years on!!

We were out at 'Spoons and decided to get something to eat. We went to the bar, she ordered her food, I ordered mine, but asked not to have any peas. She piped up and said "Oooh! I'll have her peas".

The poor barman turned bright red, and stared at the till, I was rolling around the floor wetting myself, and all the people at nearby tables were spluttering beer everywhere. After a fefew minutes of asking "What are you laughing at" she finally realised what she had said.

I'm laughing as I type this it's sooooo funny!! I'll catch up with you all later, I'm having 'Peek-a-Boo' book shoved in my face, think he wants to read it!

Hope the flowers cheered you up Londoner, and helped you forget about moo-face woman.

novadandypowder · 12/11/2006 13:21

GG - it took me a few re-readings of that to get it . Snigger . BTW, don't want to cause a ruck on here as haven't sent cards to everyone (sorry again), but did Sean get his? I only ask as I've noticed that all the local post boxes have been taped up for 'security reasons' ??

Think the secret santa is a great idea, any excuse to shop! Will use the post office this time though, as it's not the first time the postman has had his keys nicked and the boxes get sealed up (rolls eyes).

Thanks for nap feedback, it's been very random this weekend. The good news is that after our blip with the clocks changing she's gone back to 7-7, and even made it to 8.15 today .

LaylaandSethsmum · 12/11/2006 22:16

HI Happy Belated Birthday to Josh! Sorry i've also become v crap at sending cards , doesnt mean i'm not thinking about the little uns though

GG - Like Nova , couldn't get what you were on about at first, being a bit dim!!

The secret santa sounds really good but how are we going to do it? Theres only a few addresses on yahoo and some from the group who haven't been on for ages and ages do we try and contact everyone via yahoo and ask whoever wants to do it to sign up by a certain date?

Londoner · 13/11/2006 10:30

Hi all,

Lol GG, took me aaages to get it though lol!

Nova wow, what a great sleeper! Seems your sticking to routines is paying off dividends, must be great! () Does it give you confidence when looking forward to no.2 knowing you have a method that works for you? Feel inspired to be more consistent now but wondering where to start!

Diege, what happened on the strange ikea thread? Do tell!

Beks, how was your evening out? Did it feel strange being out just you and dh? Did you use a b.sitter?

Washing machine has broken, have to say I'm not surprised, think I would have broken long ago given that workload! Couldn't have come at a worse time though could it, in between all those b.days and xmas? Ah well, am waiting to hear back about my CM (lol ChaCha) briefing session hopefully this month where they'll tell me all about what is expected/set up costs etc... if I can bear to be parted from the baby for 3 hours that is..
Happy Monday all!

ChaCha · 13/11/2006 12:19

Hi girls,

GG - After having read it out a few times loudly finally got it!! I was putting emphasis on the 'peas' more than 'her peas'...very funny!

Londoner - Oh No! Disaster! Are you going to have it fixed or think of a new one. I bought a great LG washer/drier last year and it's fantastic - probably most ever spent on a utility but worth every penny. It's our dishwasher that stopped working last week, keeps freezing mid-cycle - hardly worth repairing as is one of the cheaper makes. Washing dishes takes forever [sigh]

Rodeo - Love your posts, very challenging for my pea brain. Hope you are all well.

Beks - Dinner with DH minus kids sounds like a real treat, hope you had a lovely night.

Knackered today having finally slept at 5am on sofa, did not have wriggling baby, in and out of loo, sore ribs syndrome until the last few weeks with PG1, having it now at 26-27weeks!!! Mustn't complain but boy had i forgotten this part...discomfort!!!

Have a good day all, grandma has taken DS out - hurray!! See you all later.

GarfieldsGirl · 13/11/2006 14:10

Hi all,

Huge apologies to Josh. Happy Birthday for the other day, sorry I missed it, (wrist has been slapped).

Nova, no the card hasn't arrived, but Thank You.

Beks, how was your night out minus LOs? How lovely for you!

Londoner, definately nightmare timing. Agree with ChaCha, I bought an LG a few years ago (I wasn't allowed to spend £600 on a Dyson, so I spent £550 on an LG ), but it is brill, well reccommended. (and they've come down in price a long way too )

Diege, what happened? I hate it when that happens, I was following the (many) 'huge mistake' threads, and they were always gone by morning!

Rodeo, 'her peas' sounds like 'herpes'!

ChaCha, I had to re-read that a few times, are you really 26-27wks? Where has teh time gone?

Londoner, how are your nighttimes now? I've tried a few things, but am now moving onto no milk after 5am, and hoping that he'll soon get bored of waking for milk, then gradually moving it back hour by hour. (note in bold, to get it drummed into my head taht I can't be weak and give in just to get some peace!) We seem to be going 2 steps forward, 3 steps back, but recently we've taken a huge 5 leaps back and can't even get him to go down by himself anymore, which we cracked a while back.

I'm in for the Secret Santas, I'll start a list of who's in.

I'm going to post a message on Yahoo! with my new email, as I know Tessasmum wanted to buy books from me, and if anyone else does give me a shout.

Take care, GG xx

Secret Santa list

JenJam & Finn
Beks & Tom
Diege & Libby
Nova & Noo
L&Smum & Seth
GG & Sean

Hope you don't mind me doing this, just makes it a bit easier to see at a glance. (I'm a list maker )

Beksmum · 13/11/2006 19:50

Evening all

GG well done on the list making, keep up the good work I'm pants at things like that!
Took me an age to get the herpes joke, like Chacha I was concentrating on the peas bit - duh!
Boy I don't fancy being in your house after 5pm - Tom would scream the house down, he still has 3 - 4 bottles a day and the 7pm one is positively unmissable - hope it works quickly for you.

Thanks all for asking we had a lovely night out, couldn't get into the restaurant we wanted but ended up in a really nice Chinese although to be honest I felt like introducing myself to my dh as it's so long since we've been out together just us Londoner we're making the most of unexpectedly having mum & dad home for a week or so - I'm loving it and it means my house will get a good clean before xmas - yay!

L&Smum I reckon we'll just have to put a post on Yahoo as you suggest saying if you want to be in the secret santa let us know by say 1st December, hopefully the others will respond then.

Has anyone heard from Chully, is it a creation of my imagination or was she moving into a caravan and building her own house?

Londoner oh no to the lack of washing machine - feel free to come and use mine if it all gets too much

Right best go and cook dinner for the adults, dh is working late so have just got the boys to bed. Have a nice evening all Beks

Thanks for advice re: washing machines girls... funnily enough I am getting an LG one, so glad you would recommend them. Right, must give Cookie some attention.

novadandypowder · 14/11/2006 15:38

Rodeo - we're not getting another cot, we're putting noo straight into this . My aim is to get her into her new bedroom by january, although DH is dragging his heels a bit at getting the final bits of his 'stuff' out of there..grrr... Also, not getting a double buggy until lo is here, figured I could carry it in a sling for the first fews weeks anyway.

Does anyone know why babies pinch/scratch/pull hair/bite so much? I know they don't realise it hurts, but it feels really personal and spiteful sometimes. I just say no really firmly and warn her that if she does it again I'll put her down, which she always does, so I put her down and walk away from her/ignore her, which always ends in floods of tears. Not sure how else to try and teach her that it's not nice behaviour??

ChaCha · 14/11/2006 18:16

Hi girls,

Nova - I felt the same not so long ago, you can't help but to take it personal at first can you? DH nearly sent him flying just the other night when he creeped up towards him and bit his big toe!! Luckily DH reacted with a started yelp which DS found very funny and proceeded bouncing up and down Tazmanian Devil style! Would also appreciate others opinions on this. Still get my hair pulled, nose bitten and am now very weary when he seems as sweet as pie laying head on my lap only to try and take a chunk out of my leg..must be a stage they go through - sure hope so!
Good idea to use sling initially with second baby, i hadn't thought of that. MIL has offered to buy new double buggy though and i must admit feeling a bit nervous just looking at them.

How much milk do your LO's now drink in a day?
DS has a 240ml in morning, 240 early afternoon, a possible 240 late afternoon and one at bed - he will wake up in the night and help himself to one and throw out of bed when done. When do i start on cartons of milk? Is it a year and how do you make the transition? Do you think i'm giving DS too much milk? He eats well usually but has his off days too. DS LOVES his bottle!!! It's like a comfort blanket.

Thanks. Talk soon x

Tex111 · 14/11/2006 19:18

Hi all, just passing through and saw the questions about biting, etc. I remember reading that biting in particular is actually a form of affection. It's often when they're overwhelmed with feeling that they chomp down. Still not very nice though but must admit it made me smile the first time Rosie bit me! Hurt like hell but I thought, 'oh she loves me'.

Beks, thanks so much for Rosie's card and the lovely book. She and Tobes have both enjoyed it. Sleeping Beauty isn't a story we've read before and it was a big hit!

Londoner, fantastic news on the CM. Must admit, I had the same reaction as ChaCha and thought you were trying for another baby at first! I'm sure you'll be brilliant at it. You should post me the details when you get set up.

We're off to the States tomorrow for two weeks for Thanksgiving. This is the first long haul flight with both children so it should be interesting. Hope you're all well. I peek in from time to time to see how you're all doing. I'm just so crap at keeping up.

I like that explanation - I just wish they could show us they care in a way that hurts less! Any other thoughts appreciated, it's a very regular occurance in this house (she must love me so much, lol).

Chacha - Noo has a 4oz/120ml bottle for mid-morning snack (with a biscuit if at home), and an 8oz/240ml bottle before bed (although she quite often doesn't finish it all). She's never been allowed a bottle in bed, I find that a strange habit?? I use SMA progress in the bottles, and cows milk for everything else. She's been having this amount for at least a couple of months, can't really remember when we dropped the second snack bottle. Actually, now I think about it we had dropped all day time bottles before she started nursery, but went back to the mid-morning one when she started because it was easier.

Rodeo - I actually wanted a pink four poster from GLTC, but DH just looked at me in disgust and said 'are you turning into Jordan'
