Ladies, babies, and bumps, welcome to the new thread!

Should we start this off with an update from us all like last time? I thought that was nice, especially for those who get little chance to catch up.

Hi

Just a quickie as I am posting from..... WORK!!
Yes, have finally had to return to the daily grind, its not been too bad so far but would much rather be at home with my babes but when the pay packet comes at the end of november i'll be ok , I can then do my xmas shopping!!

Try to post later xxxx

GarfieldsGirl · 02/11/2006 20:02

Hi.

You're absent has been signed Beks! Have a good time in Wales.

Diege, yes, would be realy good to meet you next time we're up. Next time will probably be January for BILs 40th.

TM, I'm sure you'll soon feel like you've never been away. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing though!

Very exciting here. (Well it's not really, but just humour me!) As I need a job, but really do not want to get a job, I've decided to become an Usborne Books seller. I've sent my cheque for my 1st lot of books, and I've spoken to a few mums at school and they were all interested in buying some. I have all these grand plans for stacks of leaflets in community centres, flyers in local shops, going to M&T groups etc with the books. Not sure what the reality will be, but really excited at the moment!

Londoner · 02/11/2006 22:09

Oh wow.... L&S and GG, cool! L&S what do you work as (nosey emoticon)? GG, what a great idea, what inspired you? Remember someone selling books at our local toddler group, it was a really nice chance to look at what was available and shop. Good on you girls.
Just been out for a lovely meal en famille + ds1 girlfriend. Lol, felt great to be out in the evening with the whole lot of us, and pizza was deeeelicious! It was a celebration for all the kids getting great autumn term reports.
Although belts are really going to be tightened now after all those b.days in a row. People keep asking me to look after their kids before and after school so I thought what the heck I'll sign up and become an official childminder.... talked to my local council today and have signed myself up for training......
Yay, it's Friday tomorrow!
Night!x

Diege · 02/11/2006 22:33

Wow, good on you all with your job news!!! L&S, give yourself time to settle back in; you're right, the paycheque will soften the blow somewhat Excellent news GG on the Usbourne books front. I've a friend who does the same, and she does a lot of selling in the evenings when people are also hosting other 'parties' (eg. jewellery, virgin vie etc..)Bet you'll do really well, esp. with christmas coming up!
Good news too LONDONER on the childminding front, what a brilliant idea! Wish you were closer .
Well, nothing much happening here. Just watched 'Ammiterville' (sp?? - sorry, v. wrong!!), the remake one, and pretty rubbish, but then I have been 'desensitised' after Hostel andf 'Saw', lol!!
Bed for me now

novadandypowder · 03/11/2006 10:07

ahhhh poorly noo will be the end of me - she's been at home with me for the past couple of days, feverish and demanding all my attention (yawn).

Hope everyone is well. Did anyone hear from BoB, I note she stopped posting after the run in with the rude ladies that disrupted our thread??

Be good to hear from Enthusia and SS too

LaylaandSethsmum · 03/11/2006 16:24

Hi!
Rodeo - Seth says thanks to Jess for his card, its v kind of you.

Londoner - I am a practice nurse. I've been at this surgery for 3 years and its a really lovely place to work and, from what i gather from other practice nurses i meet, my working conditions/ pay/level of responsibility is much better than elsewhere so can't really complain.1 I thought about childminding.... for a bout a second but don't honestly think i've got the patience for it, ... its smear tests and injections for me !!

Nova - whats up with Noo? Hope shes on the mend. Shes giving you a taste of things to come !

GG - the Usbourne books thing looks good, do you have to shell out a lot to get started? Are the books yours to keep if you decide not to carry on with it?

On the BoB front shes not been around for ages and the mobile number I have for her never gets any response, maybe she'll be on when its O's birthday.!!

Well, i am still at work so best chip and see if i've got anyone waiting to see me

Byeeee xxxx

ChaCha · 03/11/2006 21:07

Hi everyone,

Hello to Nova - How are you feeling these days? And what's wrong with Noo? Hope she gets better soon!

GG - Good for you! I hope it all works out for you, you certainly have the motivation and enthusiasm - I think you'll do just great.

Londoner - And good for you too!! Tell me all about it, i'm intrigued...you run such a busy household and childminding too, you're one of those people who were just meant to be super busy! You super mum you!!

Have also noticed BoB's absence and Chully? and Karma - do you still have contact with her Beks? Hope everyone's okay.

DH is working 12 hour days at the moment and I am well and truly exhausted by the time DS finally dozes off for the night. Although i've been a mother for 11 months today, i have just realised what being a mother is all about - I hope that makes sense. The word sacrifice springs to mind today.

Well if i hear 'tidy up the bits and bobs' or 'truck where you going' or 'give yourself a shiny' again in the next 12 hours I'll just give up!!! Electronic babysitters can be such a mercy at times - I take back all i said about the evils of TV

Night guys and hi to all x

Diege · 03/11/2006 22:46

Hi everyone! Good to hear from you NOVA and CHACHA, and of course L&S Lol CHACHA at tv overload; I remember us talking about it when we were pregnant, and you being quite cynical...I'd say wait till you start getting a 'thing' about the presenters, then you'll know you're in trouble! . Yes, have been thinking about BOB too, hope she's OK .
Well, the grand tidy up has just not got done, so heading upstairs before dh gets back from his curry . We're having Libby's birthday party on Sunday, even though it's not till Tuesday, so having to get the bits and pieces tommorrow. Honestly, have said to the relies, it's not a party, just a bit of cake after lunch, but they're all turning up, which means proper lunches, balloons, hey I may as well go the full hog!! . We have kept pressies low key anyway, just a pull-along elephant thingy from toysRus, and a tracksuit from Benetton ...Libby is her mother's daughter .
Oh yes, and poor Libby had a nasty fright this morning. She had been cryig on and off since 4am , and we finally heard an almighty thud - poor thing had fallen out of the cot ; totally our (well, dh) fault as mattress was still on high level ; I know, how awful !!! Safely esconed on the lower level now...
Right, enough waffling on, bed!!

Londoner · 04/11/2006 12:45

Hello,

L&S v.impressed by you being a practice nurse - lol at you preferring that to childminding, can understand.

Nova - hope Noo feels better soon.

ChaCha - I do get what you mean about the penny dropping/realisation about what it means to be a parent.... and think this feeling happens again and again as you make internal readjustments through different stages of parenthood and that it's a really good thing as it means you're coping - like that old saying to do with trees and saplings surviving storms as they bend in the wind where the old wood stuck in a its position breaks or is uprooted by that same storm. Feels strange though doesn't it? Moving into unchartered territory and that feeling of being propelled forwards with no certainty about what lies ahead - exhilarating on a good day and "where are the brakes?" the next! RE: Childminding - looks like a big deal to get started but if I manage to get up and running it could save us financially. Are you considering it yourself?

Diege - hope you have a great party for Libby tomorrow - bet she'll love all the attention. Lol at L's pressies, so sweet, can just see her now giggling and pulling along her elephant in designer garb! Her hair looks great now btw in recent meet-up pics.

Right, must drag kids outside- today is just too good to miss!xxx

Diege · 04/11/2006 14:26

Hi Londoner, and everyone else . Agree, it's a lovely day here too, classic autumn weather. Have just realised I'll need to get small pressies for dds 1&2 (from Libby). Does anyone else buy siblings small gifts when it's another sibling's birthday? Or am I a total mug ? .
Right, off to get the tatt, lol!

Londoner · 04/11/2006 20:46

I think that's a lovely idea Diege, although more work for you! How about something to make them laugh/something daft(because babies are so daft imo)? For instance Elizabeth 'gave' ds2 some Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough ice cream that he loves wrapped up and to be found in the freezer on his birthday because Elizabeth 'doesn't really understand about presents' - not too exp and he was really pleased. Is there a particular one of the girls' things Libby really covets? Something you could say she grabbed in the shop and wouldn't let go of so you had to buy it/really embarassing etc? Girls would love that surely........

Rodeo - missing your posts! Hope everything is okay in your camp, how frustrating, get that keyboard sorted out woman!

Londoner · 04/11/2006 20:55

Oh, and Elizabeth has been up all day, on the go since 7am and am just about to put her to bed now.... mad or what?! That's 14 hours on the trot, maybe she'll actually sleep tonight? I'll let you know..............

ChaCha · 04/11/2006 21:27

Evening all

Happy Birthday for tomorrow Libby - I think the siblings giving presents is a lovely idea and I like Londoner's suggestion too. Hope you all have a great day and will catch up on your b'day news tomorrow evening if you've any energy left to post!

Londoner - WoW! You managed to summise exactly how I feel/what i wanted to say perfectly - I'm really impressed with the way you wrote that and I read it several times as It's just how i feel at this particular point in my life and the bit about the exhilaration and then the brakes - spot on!!! Today was a brakes day but a massive hug and smile provided yet more fuel in the old tank Thanks for your words/support - they were great! Really glad i posted that now.
As for childminding, something i thought about when PG last year, I remember asking Diddle about it, wanted to run my own creche type thing (anyone know how Diddle is, is she part of a post natal group now? Would like to catch up on her news) but as DH kindly pointed out a few days ago - 'let's just see how things go with 2 under 2' - what confidence eh? LOL

Off to drown fireworks out with movie x

ChaCha · 04/11/2006 21:29

Whoops, forgot to say: Londoner - not even one weeny nap?!? I had a day like that after a morning at the drop in centre/afternoon with friends kids - you would have thought i'd put something in his bottle - I got really excited about the fact that he would sleep earlier that evening and for much longer, fat chance! He probably slept less. Hope you all get a good night's sleep now. Night night x

Londoner · 05/11/2006 10:19

Hi girls,

Aww ChaCha, am glad it helped. Lovely image of Z giving exhausted you a hug and kiss, awwwww. Same happened here yesterday with my ds1, he turned up after a night out , kicks his shoes off here, chucks his bag down there, eats everything in sight leaving trail of crumbs/spilt milk etc and I just let rip like a moany ald bag, he gave me a massive hug and says he's really sorry and would I like a cup of tea/should he look after E for me and all that bile dissipated immediately, like magic! Wrapped around little fingers etc lol
Hey Rodeo!..... a valiant effort! Horse riding sounds great, must be such an escape.

Thanks for the cm compliments guys! Friend of mine laughed when I told her and said I have enough kids already.

Well indeed, ChaCha you were so right - a crappy night was had and E woke up at least a million times crawling round the bed wailing and at one point sitting up and playing with dh eyelashes, little monkey! Bet she sleeps all day today......

Another beautiful day here, have a lovely day all!

ChaCha · 05/11/2006 14:21

Hi girls,

It's a lovely day here too, crisp and sunny, not going out though, just waiting for DH to return from work so we can hopefully enjoyed an over cooked Sunday dinner and catch up.
Londoner - Impressed with DS1's attentiveness, sure hope my DS grows up to be like that. How sweet! Laughed at E's night time antics, I have missed such episodes as have been sleeping alone not wanting to wake others with my constant turning/trips to loo/etc. nothing at all do with wanting my own space, undisturbed sleep, fluffy pillows and the chance to wrap myself in duvet!

Rodeo - Hi! You guys and your TV presenters! LOL And Diege, I guess my copy of J.Manders that we talked about last year has made its way to the back of the shelf! Hope you're having a great b'day party.

Well, we've had fun this morning playing 'cats' on the rug. I am big cat, i chase DS around he laughs and laughs. Then I start miaouing and he copies snuggling into me like a little kitten - it's so cute! Well i best go, he has spotted our laptop, now up and running hurray and is making a beeline for destruction! P.S. Are the LO's generally this cuddly at this stage? I don't want it to end!!

See you all later x

GarfieldsGirl · 05/11/2006 15:30

Hi everyone

Nice weekend here too. Been a bit warmer than it has been during the week, just nice and 'fresh'.

ChaCha, it's great reading your posts. Your little accounts of your day with Z are just lovely. My boys are both very cuddly and affectionate. Sean has been giving out kisses for a few weeks now (a wide open mouth, and leaning towards you), and has just started blowing kissess too. Owen is always telling me he loves me, lots of kisses and cuddles all round from him. I really hope it lasts. They both get very jealous if DP and I manage to get a cuddle in and push him away to get to 'their mummy'!

Londoner, that sounds really good on the cm front. I think you would make a great childminder. Is there lots to do to set yourself up? Awww at ds1 giving you a big hug and offering help. I really hope I manage to do as well with my children as you have obviously done with yours.

Thanks for the encouragement re the Usborne Books. Its just what I need to keep that motivation and excitement up. Diege, one of the mums at school does the Phoenix cards, and thats what really gave me the idea to do something similar. L&S, at the moment its £38 start up with £100 worth of stock, although I do believe that other times of year they have offers e.g. £19 for £100 of stock. I have to buy £100 of stock in the 1st 12 weeks otherwise I have to pay full prce for the books, but at this time of year, and the reaction from friends, I don't think that will be a problem. After that I can dip in and out as I like. It's only if I give them notice that I have to send the books back.

Hope Libby is enjoying her little party today.

Diege · 05/11/2006 20:47

Hi everyone!! . Had a great time today, and Libby was thrilled with her presents (ripped open by her sisters!!); she even studiously looked at the cards, before laying them down in a pile beside her .
Yes, agree CHACHA with the cuddles, and your kitten game sounds so cute .LONDONER, you have a very thoughful ds1 there!! (and I'm sure you don't sound like a nag in the slightest!!), you sound like you have a really contented family!! GG: yes, I'm sure you'll have no problems whatsoever with Usbourne, and that you'll do really well over Xmas - so exciting for you, and that's the ds's presents sorted too!!! RODEO: no, go on, you take Justin, I wouldn't dream of taking him fron you My fave I have to say is 'Paul' (think from Tikabilla, but could be (very) wrong; sort of dreadlocky style shortish hair ; have to admit to having a few of 'those' dreams in them past...not a touch on Simon Cowell though, lol .
Oh and before I forget THE PICTURES OF THE STRATFORD MEET-UP HAVE BEEN POSTED, FINALLY!!!! Have to apologise for unimaginative captions, dh did them . Also, have put one of Libby at bedtime today on the Diege's Libby folder, reading one of her new books. We don't actually have any of the party, as it's all on video!

Beksmum · 05/11/2006 21:08

Hi girls, I'm back, sorry no time to post as kids freaked by fireworks just wanted to ask Tessasmum and Jenjam for their addresses for cards please. Catch up with you all tomorrow Beks

GarfieldsGirl · 06/11/2006 13:51

Finally got that cd off to you today BEKs .

Sean loved the fireworks last night. Our local pub had a huge display that we watched from Owens window. What did the other LOs make of them?

We had a fire saftey check done on Saturday. Well reccommended. I just phoned the Hants Fire & Rescue and they sent some firemen round from our local station. They came in the fire engine, which Owen of course loved. They just checked the house over, gave us a few little tips etc and fitted 5 somek alarms (we already had 2 up). All this is completely free and available for everybody. FAB .

GarfieldsGirl · 06/11/2006 13:52

smoe even!

GarfieldsGirl · 06/11/2006 13:52

Agh!!! SMOKE!

ChaCha · 06/11/2006 16:44

Hiiii,

GG - I didn't know they offered that service, keeeewl...we have smoke alarms up but without the batteries They just kept going off driving me insane whenever I got busy in the kitchen/lit incense etc.. Very good reminder though to get them working again! Bet Sean loved the fire engine, wow!

As for us we took a drive up to a spot where you can see most of our town from above, we sat and watched the firework displays for a while and then after feeling very, very cold took to watching from bedroom window - DS kept screeching and clapping hands, biting DH's shoulder in excitement - am glad he wasn't scared of them!

Today have been child proofing downstairs even
more, having sold our lovely dining room table
(sob) and book shelves and low tables now all moved I have a very empty downstairs with lots of space for walker/crawling/cruising etc.. Z has also just learned how to get onto sofa having thrown cushions down on floor to give himself an extra lift cheeky or what! Well, is great having laptop up and running can actually post with DS around.

Hope you've all had lovely weekends x
